can you believe humans were literally gifted a planet overflowing with trees, fruit, water, medicine, and sunshine and somehow we said collectively, 'cool, let's invent debt, capitalism, and war.'
I just learned that a lot of vintage perfumes and fragrances were intentionally created to blend well with the ever-present smell of cigarettes, and in specific a lot of iconic ones that are super musky and floral and civet-heavy were intended to compliment the smell of fur coats or even "refresh" that new fur coat smell, which is one of the reasons (besides just shifting preferences and trends) that a lot of them smell really, really bad to modern noses.
I bet there's some stunning genius diva out there right now who meticulously coordinates her Victoria's Secret body mists with her vape flavors.

“use ai or fall behind” why are you acting like asking copilot to write an email is a particularly sought-after skillset
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
i love when parents used to say you’ll understand when you’re an adult and then you become an adult and you’re like ohhh i do understand. i understand that you were a weird fucking cunt. i know this because now i am a weird fucking cunt too. and i still don’t treat kids that way
(Eric Satie, as quoted in John Cage's "Silence")
I've been watching the smoke from the fires that have taken so much of our forests, of our wildlife, of First Nations reserves, all day. We have the worst air quality in the world right now. I'm in the closest proximity to a climate change caused natural disaster than ever before in my life, and all I can do when I see the grey-yellow darkness outside my window is try not to cry and mourn while our leaders are trying to approve more and more pipelines and mining projects. This isn't the world I want to live in
Human relationships are not transactional but they are reciprocal, which I think many of you with your ‘i don’t owe anyone anything’ shtick are too happy to forget
Transactional: everything has to be exactly 50/50 all the time, pay me back for the £5 sandwich or buy me something worth exactly £5, I refuse to make an effort for you if there’s nothing in it for me
Reciprocal: you were there for me when I needed help, and I’m going to do the same for you, it doesn’t matter if one of us needs more or is capable of less, because the point is not equivalent exchange but mutual care
This bit for everyone who fears they are a burden to the friendship everytime they need the other person

''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
My doctor recommended not checking my phone before 10 (I wake up at 7), because of how cortisol production works and affects your body. I rarely manage it, but it's nice to know there's a medical possibility that doesn't involve ignoring things or being in denial.
