whenever something good happens in this godforsaken country, or any other country in latam, there is always some dipshit saying something about how shamefull it is that the US is losing at progressiveness. I swear to god, people in the global north are so fucking condescendent. You people have not let go of the enlightenment's ideas of progress, as if everyone else is a buch of backwater people taht cannot possibly have complex thoughts about their lives and society.

Argentina has some of the best trans policies in the world, transfeminicide is typified in its law. Transfeminicide is also now typified in Mexico city's law, after the hard efforts of trans women who fought to get this done. The US and many countries in Europe don't even have feminicide typified, which Mexico and many otehr coutnries in Latam ahve had for years. People here organize and figth for their rights despite having to go against the goverment, the police, organized crime and the influence of the global north that actively works to stop progress in the global south for its own interests, often getting killed for it. Did you know Mexico is considered the most dangerous place to be a journalist? And yet people don't stop.

I have sat at meetings with different feminist organizations across Latin America and they are have very profound things to say about these topics in the context of living in wars, under imperialism, with a fragmented identity due to colonization, etc. There is very rich literature on all kinds of social problems that you guys don't know about because it's written in a language you don't speak and your academies have long looked down on. We don't have to learn from you or follow your example, we don't need you.

But if you think tiktok is the downfall of democracy you're either not paying attention or on the WRONG side of tiktok. There are tons of people over there dedicated to making sure the masses have access to accurate information, exposing corruption, and organizing against fascism. Tiktok is not the problem. I think there's a genuine conversation to be had about how aro spaces have begun pushing QPRs in a similar way that amatonormativity pushes romantic relationships onto people but a majority of aros just refuse to engage in the discussion because they see it as an attack on QPRs or people saying QPRs are romantic relationships lite instead of actually looking at the fact it's critiquing how some Aros have begun pushing it almost like an alternative to romance and something all Aro's want.

No one is saying QPRs are bad but rather that there is too much push that the idea of a QPR will fix people's problems. "oh you're lonely? just find a QPR!" "You dont have to be in a romantic relationship you can be in a QPR!" "QPR is MORE than friendship" etc etc.

There's a genuine critique here of QPRs being used to continue to push amatonormativity by again assuming that every aro wants a partner - even if not romantic - and I think we can have a genuine conversation about this rather than going at each other throats over a fake argument of "QPRs bad"

Due to the lack of aromantic characters on media. I decided to headcanon these two favourite characters of mine as aromantic. In fact, it's not a headcanon anymore, it's CANON now. They are horrible edit icons, but I like them.

I have a major soft spot for queerplatonic rships where at least one party is actually able to be attracted to the other. Queerplatonic ships where it's not "I would be in love with you if I was allo/gay/straight/bi/etc" but instead "I could be in love with you but I'm not because that's not the right relationship for either us and we're unbelievably happy with what we have."

Queerplatonic relationships are always treated as second string to romantic relationships, with an implication of "this relationship would be romantic if it could be", and that sucks. They're their own relationship, completely distinct from romance, and deserve to be treated as such.
