Name: Antares Salem Flint, goes by Salem only
Born: October 29th, 1873
House: Slytherin
Appearance: tall (6'1"/185 cm), athletic but not bulky. Raven-black hair reaching his shoulder blades, grey eyes.

Left side: two edelweiss flowers on his ribs. All other tattoos are on the right side.

Personality
Slutty Flirty as hell, but still comes across as respectful.
Cunning and manipulative, carefully maintaining the mask of a good guy.
Melancholic when he allows himself to feel.
Cynical and hedonistic.
Magical Abilities and Skills
Highly skilled duellist, not afraid to use Dark Magic or the Unforgivables.
An Animagus. His form is alpine chough. It resembles a common crow, making it perfect for spying and sneaking around.
A powerful Legilimens and Occlumens.
Pathetic at Herbology, mediocre at best at Potions. He underestimates both disciplines, which leads to Selene defeating him in 6/10 cases (Salem is magically stronger, but she always carries some creative potions with her).
Ariadne Flint was married off abroad soon after Antares's birth, and he hardly saw her. His father spent most of his time gambling, partying, and drinking, so Antares was raised by the Flint family and bore the Flint name.
There was no love in his childhood. Things only became worse when he did not receive his Hogwarts letter at the age of eleven. The Flint family hastily sent him to a Muggle boarding school in Switzerland while claiming that he attended Durmstrang.
Antares
The years at the Muggle boarding school in Swiss Alps (I was inspired by the Institut Le Rosey, which already existed at the time) were the happiest of his life. The school was run by a Squib, and some of the other students were Squibs, sent there by their families in the hope that they would at least become successful in the Muggle world. Antares studied languages, history, and commerce, excelling academically and in sports (skiing, swimming, and sailing), and forged friendships with the other boys.
His most notable friend, and later lover, was Alessandro Leonardo Zabini, a Squib from the Zabini family. He made Antares as happy as anyone could, given the circumstances of them both having to live in the Muggle world and hide their same-sex relationship. Both boys dreamed of eventually awakening their magic and being able to live in the wizarding world. Unfortunately, the dream came true for only one of them.
In January 1890, an owl from Britain reached the Swiss Alps. It carried a letter from Hogwarts, inviting Antares to join the school as a fifth-year in September. Antares was beyond himself with happiness, but it meant saying goodbye to Alessandro. A fight broke out, and both boys ran outside despite warnings of avalanche danger. Yelling at each other and accusing one another of selfishness, they did not realise that an avalanche was coming until they were buried beneath a massive amount of snow.
Alessandro and Antares survived the avalanche, but they were trapped beneath the snow. They tried to dig themselves out, but it seemed like a futile task. Eventually, Alessandro gave up and simply asked Antares to hold him. Then he told him that he loved him. He died of the cold in Antares's arms.
Antares was found the next day, severely hypothermic but still alive. He recovered enough to face the Zabini family, who blamed him for Alessandro's death. Antares did not disagree. He did not speak at all after Alessandro's death.
Soon, the Flint family came to take him back to Britain. The school year was due to start in a few months, so Antares was to be tutored at home until then, since he had missed four years of magical education. He was still mute, not saying a word, but he studied relentlessly. Alessandro's death had shown him just how weak he was, and he swore to himself that he would never be weak again.
Salem
Arcturus, his father, came over in late spring. He had heard that Antares was still mute and managed to persuade the Flints to let him take his son to Europe for the summer. This was the first time Antares said a word since Alessandro's death: to correct Arcturus and tell him to call him "Salem" instead.
Antares had died in Alessandro's embrace. Salem was born that night.
While travelling with his father, Salem learned more about magic. Despite his promiscuous lifestyle, Arcturus was a skilled wizard and taught his son plenty of useful and slightly illegal magic. Salem purchased his wand in Europe from Gregorovitch (yew and sphinx hair). He learned the Patronus Charm and became an Animagus (both forms are an alpine chough, a bird common in the high altitudes of Switzerland). And, of course, he learned even more about people and relationships. Arcturus often left him to his own devices, and Salem explored both the Muggle and magical worlds, charming men and women alike and claiming to be older than he was. He was well educated, skilled in languages, and a natural manipulator.
During those travels, Salem developed another passion: tattoos. He had two edelweiss flowers tattooed on his left side, the side where Alessandro had been while they were buried in the snow. All his other tattoos are on his right side. There is an alpine chough flying over the mountains on his chest, the phases of the moon around his wrist like a bracelet, and a chain around his forearm, each link representing... a romantic encounter, to put it mildly.
Hogwarts
At Hogwarts, Salem is known as an academically bright student and a nice, flirty guy. He has multiple crushes and flings, but nothing fills the void in his heart left by Alessandro. His only focus is obtaining more power, so he was delighted to discover that he could wield ancient magic. He was even more delighted when he learned about the Repository and became determined to consume its contents.
After consuming the Repository, he develops noticeable red eye bags.
Salmon AU
Salem's main AU is where he shares the world with @cheonchi's kids and Selene (his second cousin). The ship name with Nova is SalemNo, or also Salmon, a courtesy of @cheonchi's autocorrect. Salem is one year older than she is. He had started Hogwarts in 1889 as a fifth-year and nothing particularly interesting happened until 1890.
In his sixth year, he falls for Nova (unrequited), spends most of his time flirting with her (unsuccessfully), or pursuing other boys and girls (way more successfully). Salmon doesn't actually happen except in Salem's dreams, but Salem tries his best. He also has a short fling with Henry (their ship name is "slat :)", because Henry can't spell and likes drawing smileys).

I really donāt give a fuck if someone glorifies or romanticizes bad, very fucked up things in fanfiction. thatās the point of dark fantasies, and the point of dark fantasies is that they are Not Real.
no one in real life gets hurt because someone has dark fantasies somewhere.
the only victims in this case are imaginary people, fictional characters with no lives, souls or feelings.
and itās fun and therapeutic to indulge in dark fantasies from time to time, as long as they stay fantasies. and I trust that people can separate fiction from reality.
harassing or shaming people for having dark fantasies, for the sake of imaginary children and fictional characters, will still make you a bully who values the lives of imaginary people over real people.
adding to this that if youāre writing from an antagonistās pov, you will almost certainly glorify the bad things your antagonist does.
and itās more than okay if your antagonist wins in the end.
not every piece of fiction has to end with the good guy winning. not every piece of fiction has to end with a perfect life lesson. especially when you create for yourself and your own enjoyment.
ābut fiction effects realityš„ŗā if someone lets fiction effect their reality to the point they canāt tell that bad things in fiction are not okay in real life, chances are that, with or without the fiction they consume, theyāre already troubled and they need help. but their inability to separate fiction from reality is not the artistsā responsibility. weāre not our audiencesā parents.
