there is no disabled person who escapes being accused of lying

no I don't mean "people are dismissive of people with visible differences" I mean "people think that visibly different people are lying about having a visible difference"

I mean that people think amputees are lying about missing a limb

I mean that people will go to amputees and accuse them of holding their leg/arm weird, hiding it in a sleeve, photo shopping it out of pictures, using angles on cameras to hide it, any number of things. I mean that people think we are liars.

I have had people, in person, accuse me of lying about my bones being rotated, something they can see with their own two eyes. I have had people accuse me of turning my feet out intentionally to try to be special. online I have been accused of having normal legs and just using my hypermobility to pretend to be limb different. we. are. accused. of. lying.

this isn't about dismissal this is about being called a liar
