Herbert Arnold - Nocturnal Forest Feast with Rubezahl and Musicians (1919)

This curious nocturnal scene is based upon a Central European folk tale. Rubezahl was a famous trickster who inhabited the mountains of Silesia and who could affect sudden negative changes in the weather. One evening a group of itinerant musicians encountered Rubezahl on a trail. Not recognizing him, they asked simply if he had any food, since they were hungry. Although they had no money, they would repay him with their music. Rubezahl agreed, but when the musicians asked for payment, he gave them each a piece of manure. Most threw the "gift" away, except for one musician who wrapped it carefully for safekeeping. The next day, the wrapped manure had transformed into a hunk of gold. (source)

Haven’t seen my favorite Dolly Parton quote shared yet, so here you go. In 2018, Dollywood changed the name of the Dixie Stampede to The Stampede because of its association with the Confederacy. When asked about the change, she said this:

“There’s such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of that. When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it ‘The Stampede.’ As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”
