JEREMIAH's MASTERLIST.
"See you there" was the last text he got from you since both broke up.
You were one of Belly's best friends, so every time you visited her at the summer house you would see him there.
And you also noticed the way he looked at you.
"Come on, y/n." Belly said, taking your hand to walk towards the pool.
Jeremiah followed with his gaze where the two of you had left. And he sighed.
"What happened between you two?" questioned Steven looking at his friend. He just shrugged, leaning back in the couch.
"We don't talk anymore."
Belly and you in the pool sat on the edge of it. You looked at your feet as you swung them in the water, seeing the distorted reflection of them.
"I think you have something to talk to me about." the voice of your best friend brought you out of your little trance. You looked at her and then returned your gaze to the water.
"We broke up, we stopped seeing each other, and we don't talk anymore. That's all." you downplayed it but inside you knew you were still waiting for a message from the boy you loved for more than two summers.
"I met someone." you responded after a couple of seconds mentally debating whether to tell her or not. After all, she is your best friend.
"What? And you just tell me?!"
"Yeah! It all happened so fast, I'm sorry, Bell." You looked at her and she smiled at you sideways, hugging you by the shoulders.
"It's not your fault." She rubbed your shoulder and you sighed.
"I know but I..."
"Careful!" Conrad exclaimed trotting over to where you were.
"What?" and from one moment to the next, Belly and Conrad were already submerged in the crystal clear water of the pool.
You laughed to see how Belly struggled to rise to the surface and at the same time with Conrad, she throwing water at him and causing a bit to fall on you.
You saw in your peripheral that someone had stood next to you, but you could recognize the cologne and the smell of salty air impregnated on his skin emanating from him. It was Jeremiah.
"Hey y/n..." he was about to speak but Steven cut him off, walking out of the house.
"Hey guys, we're going to a party tonight. And I'm not taking 'no' for an answer." He said this last thing looking at you, you whitened your eyes and then looked at Belly.
"Take it for granted." she confirmed getting out of the pool with Conrad behind her.
You huffed, getting up off the ground and brushing past Jeremiah without paying him much attention.
He just clenched his jaw and walked behind everyone.
"What I don't understand is, why are you ignoring him?" Taylor was helping you decide what to wear, she arrived that same afternoon.
"It's better for him, so he gets over us faster." You responded by looking at a red dress, deciding between that or a black and white dress with a newspaper design.
"And you're over him already?" This time it was Belly's turn to speak.
"Yeah... no, I don't know." you sat on the bed still looking at the newspaper design dress, but your mind was elsewhere.
"Hey, it's okay that you don't know, but you have a choice to make, Jeremiah or the guy you're seeing." Taylor put her hand on your shoulder, looking up at you. "You can't have them both."
"I know..."
"Well, tonight we'll stop thinking about boys, it's just us, alright?" You nodded at Belly's question and she came over to hug you both. "I love you both."
"We too, but we must get dressed now or we will be late." Taylor said.
"Oh yeah."
The whole group was already at the party, each one dispersed throughout the house without a trace of any.
Except you and Taylor and Belly were checking to see if you were okay.
To your surprise, you found the boy with whom you had already kissed more than a couple of times and with whom you were now seeing. Although it was not official yet.
What you didn't know is that Jeremiah was on the other side of the room. Seeing how you smiled at the boy, how you looked at him the way you used to look at him. How you touched him the same way you did with him.
He quickly swallowed his beer, jaw tense, jealousy invading his entire body, almost blinding him with anger. But he wasn't mad at you. He was angry with himself.
"I should have known that I wasn't the one." he thought squeezing the empty beer can in his hand, looking away from you when someone tapped his shoulder. A girl.
"You're Jeremiah, aren't you?" The girl asked and he nodded, "Wanna dance?" he hesitated, looking at you but you kept looking at the stupid boy and then he saw that he led you to where more couples were dancing. So he looked at the girl and nodded once again.
"Sure." she took his hand and also led him through the crowd of people, and by mere coincidence, they were close to you and the nameless boy.
He took her firmly by the waist as he watched her eyes. She wasn't ugly, she was actually beautiful. But he was too busy just adoring your beauty so he could take notice of other girls.
So he allowed himself to enjoy that night with that girl. If you had already moved on without him so easily then he would too.
For your part, you kept dancing, talking and laughing with Blake, that was the boy's name.
He hugged you around the waist tighter, the same way Jeremiah did. And then you had the instinct to look for him in the crowd, finding him with that girl, smiling and joking. She was laughing as he whispered something in her ear and he hugged her tightly. In the same way that he did with you.
You returned your gaze to Blake, smiling slightly at him as they continued to slow dance to a song.
You just hoped that girl would come to love him the same way you did.
Although sometimes you couldn't help but think that he wanted you to show up at his bedroom door. But you were terrified of being wrong.
You didn't want to know if he was looking into her eyes or if she was holding onto him so tight, the way you did before.
You separated from Blake to get away from there with the excuse that you had to go to the bathroom, while you saw out of the corner of your eye that Jeremiah was looking at you.
You walked away from there towards the garden of the house.
"This is what I wanted." you thought closing your eyes, running your hands through your hair. But you repeated it just to convince yourself, although you weren't quite sure now.
But you couldn't get Jeremiah out of your brain. And you probably never would.
"y/n." he called you, you clearly recognized his voice even with your back turned.
You turned around to face him.
You both stayed for a couple of seconds without doing or saying anything, just looking at each other.
Until he finally spoke.
"He treats you the same as me?" he asked and you didn't know what to answer him.
You just want to turn back time so you can avoid breaking up with him.
"Something like that." you whispered and he tried to look other than you.
"Why did you break up with me?" This time you looked into each other's eyes again, holding your gazes firmly.
"I thought… I thought that I wanted to be with him, that I loved him." You started to explain, but Jeremiah out of jealousy denied turning around.
"This makes no sense."
"But I love you!" you exclaimed, making him stop in his tracks. "And I miss you."
He looked over his shoulder at you, his eyes and brows more relaxed.
You looked at him with some longing, not knowing what he would do, but all kinds of doubts disappeared the moment he quickly walked over to take you by the cheeks and stick his lips with yours.
It was a passionate kiss, where both released everything you had kept for the time you both were apart.
One of his hands went to your waist to get you closer to him.
"Finally!" Steven exclaimed from across the backyard pool where y'all were, making everyone in your little group laugh, along with you and Jeremiah.
He looked at you fondly, caressing your cheek and you hugged him tightly.
