He watches the crowd watching him,

but they don't see him like he does.

They see the newest Hollywood IT boy,

but he sees

his blue-green eyes meeting his

for the first time

over a blurry video call.

They see perfectly curated charm and charisma,

but he sees

him making goofy faces

at the teens in the mall.

They see confidence and coolness,

but he sees

him crying in his arms

after a long, hard day of filming.

He stops scanning the crowd

and looks at him.

He can tell instantly

that he is overwhelmed,

trying to hold it all in.

Without thinking,

he places a hand gently on his back.

He feels him take a deep breath,

allowing himself

to break down.

He wraps his arms around him

and lets himself break, too.

The crowd disappears,

and for a moment,

it is just the two of them.

He flashes back

to them holding hands
