Riley's journal - Pages 1 to 6
Woke up full of blood and with a headache. My memories are... gone. I only recall a tentacled monster putting something in my eye... I think I'm on a ship, and I think it's getting attacked... It played in my favor, My pod has been damaged it seems... at least I'm free. For now.
One of them is lying on the floor, I think it's dead.
I found a rune slate, it's... projecting something in my mind... There's a pool thingy in the center of the room, in there... tadpoles ? Is that what they put in my eye ? Ew... Just... gonna walk away from that thing. Time to find a way out. I passed that thing that looks like a door and there's a dead goblin with a slate next to it. It seems the monsters were studying it.
I hear a voice, maybe another survivor ? Oh... There's a corpse with an exposed brain ?... It's talking to me. I think the person that was inside is gone... It said it's a "newborn". I extracted the brain creature without damaging it.
I WANT TO RIP IT APART
Wait did I think that ?... Let's just... Drop the thing. It told me to call it "Us". We need to go to the helm. More rune slates... It seems this ship is alive, somehow.
Fuck... That one slate showed me humanoid history... These bastards are studying us.
Someone jumped in front of me. I almost drew my sword when I saw her but... She might be right, we might have more chances of survival together. According to her, the parasites are gonna turn us into mind flayers... I'm sooo fucked.
Fuck Fuck Fuck
We got into a fight, "Us" actually turned out to be useful. I almost got my ass burned but we made it. Fuck the ship is still under attack, we need to get out of here. I found some stuff on the thralls corpses, I'll hold onto it.
Okay. No more pressing random buttons. I did that and people that seemed unconscious attacked us... We're okay, we got them.
There's a girl trapped into a pod ! My green friend doesn't seem happy with my decision, but I'm gonna try to help her. Well... Hitting the console next to her didn't do anything, I'd better find some other way to open the pod.
We found a room FULL of pods... How many people got infected ?? I found a brain in a jar... What the fuck ?
Found some object that looks similar to that console. Might be able to free that girl. I inserted the rune in the console and somehow I was able to will the pod to open ? How the fuck did I do that ?
Somehow the girl's thoughts merged with mine just like it did with my green friend. Is it the parasite's doing ? The girl is coming with us. Her name is Shadowheart. Looks like the two girls aren't getting along.
Fuck... A mind flayer. He told me to connect the nerves of the transponder. I guess we don't have much choices if that thing controls the ship... Here goes nothing.
Fuck I'm alive ?? The ship... I fell... Then stopped falling ? I opened my eyes on this beach. I have to figure out where I am... and who I am. I searched a corpse for anything that might be useful, but I found myself... Smiling at the sight of it. This isn't right. When I tried to remember if I saw a corpse before, thousands images of corpses came to me... Who the fuck am I ?
I found Shadowheart near the corpse. I woke her up, she seemed as lost as I am but if we stick together we might find something, someone to heal us.
I found more of these walking brains . One of them injuried me quite bad. We'll need to rest soon.
We met a white haired man. He tried to fool me and threaten me, emphasis on "tried". Then our thoughts merged like it did with the others. He figured I was a victim of these monsters too and introduced himself as Astarion. Then I thought about it... and I think my name is Riley ?
Astarion is sticking with us. I don't know why I imagined him dead... As we walked, I noticed two scars on his neck and fangs when he talks. I would bet he's a vampire but... I'll just keep an eye on him.
We found an injured mind flayer, the thing tried to manipulate me but I killed him.
A man was stuck inside a stone ? I helped him out and boy, that man loves to talk. He's gonna stick with us too. Heh. The more the merrier I guess.
We found the githyanki woman from earlier in a trap. Two tieflings got her but I persuaded them to go. They said there's a camp nearby. Could be a good idea to go there, there might be a healer.
I freed the githyanki and she told us we need to find a crèche. It's a gith place. She thinks her people can help us. A "Zorru" was mentioned, if we find him we might know more. But first, I'm Injuried and we should make camp.
I tried to make conversation with Lae'zel (the githyanki) but she just insulted my nose. I don't really care if it's too big or not. I'll let her talk. Shadowheart told me she doesn't trust her but she seems tense around everyone...
I walked on Gale admiring himself. I don't know what to make of him. He ranted about ceremorphosis... whatever. The man gives me a headache.
I woke up and Astarion's fangs were dangerously close to my neck. I was right, he's a vampire. He asked to drink my blood but how can I trust him ? He was gonna feed on me in my sleep ! I told him to fuck off. If he wants to travel with me he better behave.
In the morning, he wanted to talk, I told him we're good, and I learned he was not supposed to be able to stand in the sun, but maybe the parasite changes that ? For some reason, he dragged me into a discussion about the taste of blood. But to be honest I can't deny a tiny part of me isn't curious...
Shadowheart have a strange wound on her hand but she got really defensive when I asked about it. Later, she was tinkering with a weird box but I didn't pry. She's allowed to have her own stuff, I don't really care.
We found some ruins, gonna explore them in the morning.

Ciaran was at a nearby tavern, he stopped there after getting some stuff for the house, while Jax was gone hunting. He sipped his drink while a man was talking to him, but he didn't pay any attention to the man.
“So… pretty boy… We don’t we go to a quiet place together ?” The man slipped his hand on Ciaran’s thigh, but he pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the eye. Some of the people in the tavern ran out screaming and the few remaining lunged at Ciaran, but he already had his scimitars in hand, killing everyone that came close to him.
“Ciaran ?” said a feminine voice.
Ciaran turned to her, ready to cut her head off but she moved back, her hands raised in peace. She scanned his face, her eyes widening.
“It’s you… Isn’t it ?”
“Who the hell are you ?” He replied.
“It’s me… Calliope !”
He stared at her, trying to figure out if he heard that name before.
“Your sister.” she added.
He processed her words for a few minutes then frowned and raised one of his scimitars above her head.
“Wait !” She shielded her face with her arms. During just one second, something shifted in Ciaran’s mind, seeing himself as his sister protecting her face. He stopped himself, lowering his weapons.
“Don’t come near me again.” he said, heading out of the tavern. She followed him.
“Wait-”
“Fuck off.” he replied without turning back to look at her.
The tavern owner crawled out of his hiding spot.
“Hey ! Motherfucker !”
Ciaran turned to him, but he didn’t have time to do anything, the owner stabbed him in the throat. Ciaran instinctively pulled out the knife, blood immediately flowing out the wound. He pressed his hand to his own throat, trying to stop the blood.
“Ciaran !” Calliope screamed. She ran to him, catching him when he stumbled. He pushed her away, starting to walk, faltering. He couldn’t die yet, he thought. Not now. Not away from her. Away from Lilith.
Calliope followed him.
“Please, let me help ! You’re gonna die !”
Blood was flowing fast, even with his hand pressing the wound. He continued walking, stumbling against every wall. Lilith. He had to make it to her.
His foot got caught in a branch, and he fell, coughing blood. Calliope hurried to his side.
“At least tell me where you’re headed, are there clerics there ?”
“Take me to her…” Ciaran struggled to say.
“Who ? Where ?” Ciaran struggled to stay conscious, Calliope tapped his cheek, panicking. “Ciaran, where !?”
Ciaran pointed in the direction of his current home with Lilith and Jax. He didn’t care about clerics or anything like that, he just needed to see Lilith, if that was the last thing he saw. What a stupid way to go, after everything he’s been through, he thought.
Calliope tore a piece of her shirt to make a temporary bandage to Ciaran’s neck. She tried to carry him but she wasn’t strong enough to lift his whole body, so she started dragging him towards the direction he pointed to.
Ciaran was still thinking about Lilith, the details of her face, her scar, the curve of her lips stretching when she smiled. He probably wasn’t going to see that ever again. His mind was hazy, but he tried to hang on to his memories of her. The way she touched his face, the nicknames she gave him… His heart twisted painfully.
Calliope managed to drag him to their house and knocked on the door.
“Someone help ! Please !”
Ciaran blinked, his mind slowly drifting off… Calliope tapped his cheeks again.
“Hey, stay with me ! Ciaran !”
“Lilith ?...” He swore that was her voice he heard. “Lils… I…” He passed out and Calliope started to bang harder at the door.
“Please ! Help !”
Lilith was still home alone, waiting for her two tiefling men to arrive. She was not expecting to hear a female voice desperately calling out for help outside of their home, but all her instincts activated, when she heard that female voice say Ciaran's name.
She immediately moved towards the door, one of her hands carefully reaching for a dagger she had hidden in her outfit just in case, while the other reached out for the handle, opening the door.
Her eyes widened the moment she saw the situation in front of her. A young tiefling woman, struggling to hold onto Ciaran, who had a gash in his neck, blood gushing, his consciousness fading as she was opening the door, making it more difficult for the woman to hold onto him.
"Ciaran!" Lilith let out as she immediately held onto the tiefling instead, with less difficulty due to her strength. She dragged him to the large bed she shared with him and Jax and dropped him there, immediately staining everything in blood.
Whoever this woman was that had brought Ciaran in, it didn't matter right now. She could've left for all she cared, but she was still standing there, for some reason, watching Ciaran, watching her.
Lilith moved around the place, picking up everything she needed to treat his wound, to clean it and stitch it up. She didn't take long to return to Ciaran's side, checking his pulse. He was still alive, but very, very weak.
"Don't you dare die on me..." She spoke to him in a low tone as she started cleaning the wound. It was something only he would've been able to hear had he been conscious.
Calliope had followed them inside and tears started running down her face.
"Please... Don't let him die..." she sniffled, wiping her tears. "I just got him back..."
Lilith stiffed for a second as she heard her sniff and cry, her movements stopping and her head just slightly turning in her direction, her expression stoic yet stern. Just who was this woman? Why did she seemingly care so much for Ciaran?
She couldn't dwell on that right now though, focusing back on stitching Ciaran's neck up, her eyes darting to his face every once in a while. There was a hint of a frown between his eyebrows, which she would've assumed was from the pain of the wound, though she knew Ciaran handled pain exceptionally well. Maybe it was something else entirely, she could never be sure with him.
Once she was done with his wound and he was out of danger, she placed everything on the bedside table, sitting more comfortably next to him and reaching to touch his face, now noticing the way her hands were shaking, despite the situation being defused now.
"...Idiot." She let out softly, still in a low voice as her thumb caressed his cheek. "Left you on your own for barely an hour and you're already trying to get yourself killed..."
Ciaran's breathing was still weak but more steady as the bleeding was stopped. Calliope walked closer to them, observing Lilith's behavior toward Ciaran. This was definitely not a stranger to him.
"...Who are you ?..." she asked the other tiefling woman. She recalled the name Ciaran called earlier. "Are you... Lilith ?..."
Lilith's gaze immediately went to her, her bright white eyes shimmering menacingly at her proximity, her hand pulling away from Ciaran’s face, but staying on his chest. This woman was a stranger to her, but it seemed like she knew Ciaran.
"I am." She simply said, her tone changing completely when addressing her, firmer and colder. "Who are you?" She asked, putting an emphasis on the last word.
"I'm Calliope..." Her worried eyes were focused on Ciaran. "I'm his sister..." she added. Her eyes shifted to Lilith now. "You don't seem to be a cleric..." she wondered why Ciaran had led her here. "Are you his friend ?"
Lilith shifted slightly on the bed, her body turning more towards Calliope now. Had she heard that right? His sister? Ciaran never mentioned having a sister. Then again, he didn't exactly talk much about his past. When she asked if she was a cleric, and if she was Ciaran's friend, she couldn't help the way her eyebrow rose with a certain irony.
"Not a cleric." Lilith let out. "Not exactly his friend, either..." She let out vaguely. She was so much more than a friend by now, but she wasn't sure Calliope needed to know that. She had to assume there was a reason Ciaran never mentioned his sister. If he held any kind of fondness towards her, wouldn't he have told them about her?
She took a quick look at Ciaran on the bed. They did look alike, even if Ciaran's features were a bit sharper, while Calliope's were rounder and softer. Her red eyes were the same as his left one.
"Ciaran never mentioned having a sister..." She pointed out dryly now, watching carefully for Calliope’s reaction.
A slight frown formed on Calliope's forehead. Who was she, if not his friend ? Obviously she had to care about Ciaran to patch him up, right ?
"I..." Calliope bit her lower lip nervously. "We haven't seen each other in years..." she couldn't really admit she abandoned her brother to their parents.
"...Why?" Lilith asked directly. She knew there was a reason. She knew Ciaran enough to know there was one, and she needed to make sure she knew the story before she chose her next steps. Without realizing, her hand fidgeted with Ciaran's pendant, her pendant, mindlessly rolling it around on her fingers. She was naturally wary of everyone she met, and she was still trying to gauge whether Calliope was a threat or not.
Calliope was playing nervously with one of her own strands of hair.
"I... left our home... when we were kids..." she finally admitted. "Our parents were... well..." they were never as violent with Calliope as they were with Ciaran, but she was still neglected and afraid. She didn't know how to talk about this. "I know." Lilith simply said. She knew more than enough. Her hand stopped fidgeting with Ciaran's pendant and rested over his chest again, touching his skin gently. Her eyes went to his face again, still resting, his breathing a bit more normal now.
She remembered that night, when Jax and her accompanied him back to his old home. She remembered the fear in his eyes when his father threatened to strike.
She could only assume Calliope went through a similar thing, though her heart didn't exactly clench for her at all. If she had left... Did that mean she had left Ciaran behind to suffer it all on his own?
Calliope's attention went to Ciaran as he regained consciousness. Ciaran's eyes flickered. He hissed at the pain in his neck, the first thing he felt. Then a familiar perfume came to his nose, making him open his eyes completely.
"Lilith ?..." he spoke in a hoarse voice due to his wound. He reached out to her, brushing her cheek, his frown disappearing to show relief on his face instead. "You're here..."
Lilith instinctively nuzzled her face against his hand, her own coming to gently grab his wrist.
"So are you, thankfully." She told him, a smile finally tugging at the corners of her lips as she looked at him. "You're not allowed to go out on your own anymore." She joked, though she didn't quite laugh. In truth, she was worried, she just had a hard time showing it with someone else in the room.
Ciaran smiled faintly and managed to slowly sit down with a wince, a bit dizzy. He gently wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight. He thought he wasn't going to see her ever again... But she was really here. He sighed in relief.
Calliope couldn't remember the last time she saw him being this soft... even as a kid, Ciaran didn't care for anyone. The only time she saw this relaxed face was when she sang him to sleep.
"Ciaran ?..."
His eyes went to his sister and he pulled away from Lilith but held her hand, not ready to break every contact with her yet.
"What is she doing here ?"
Lilith inspected Ciaran's body language as soon as he acknowledged Calliope was with them. Just as she had assumed, he wasn't exactly happy.
"She was the one to bring you here." She let him know, her eyes still focused on him.
"Get the fuck out." he ordered his sister.
"Ciaran, wait... I just-"
"I don't want to hear it." he cut.
"Please" she begged. "Just hear me out..."
"You heard him." Lilith supported Ciaran's decision. If he didn't want her here, then certainly neither did she.
She was about to get up the bed to get her out of there by force if she had to, when suddenly, the door to their home opened loudly, being abruptly kicked open. Lilith quickly recognized the tall, dark silhouette framed by the light outside. Jax, ducking his head and his body so he and what he was carrying on his shoulder didn't hit the door frame. As soon as he crossed the threshold, he dropped what he was carrying on the floor with a loud thud, kicking the door back to close it behind him. A huge wild boar, almost slashed in half, now laid on the floor, more blood staining the place.
Jax straightened his posture, cracking his neck, his red eyes shimmering through his shadowed figure until he took a few steps closer to the bed, where everyone else was, the light from the windows finally shining on him and his blood-covered clothes, showing the confused frown between his eyebrows, despite the stoic expression on his face.
"What the fuck is going on here...?" He asked, his eyes initially on Lilith and Ciaran as he took in the state of the other male tiefling. Then, his eyes landed on Calliope, towering over her, looking down at her with an expressionless gaze, his appearance alone intimidating enough as it was. "...Who is this?" He asked in an almost monotone tone, unfazed by her presence.
Calliope looked up at Jax, stepping back, intimidated by him.
"I... Hi?" She let out, unsure. Jax arched one of his eyebrows at her. That was not an answer.
"Calliope." Ciaran called. Her head turned to her brother. "Get. Out." Tears welled in his sister's eyes.
"Ciaran... I'm sorry..."
"You have ten seconds to get out before someone guts you."
Calliope stepped back slightly, but stayed put still, hesitating. Jax still didn't fully know what was happening but, as he turned to look at Lilith, almost as if he was trying to communicate without words, she gave him a look he understood immediately.
He snarled, his hand shooting towards Calliope as he grabbed her from her hair and yanked her away forcefully, making her let out a pained squeal as he pulled her towards the door, her feet dragging across the floor.
"Ow, stop! Just-" She struggled to say, her hands trying to grasp Jax's hand away from her unsuccessfully, as he opened the door and pushed her out. "I- I'm usually performing at the First Dawn tavern... Please... come see me..." Was the last she said before Jax closed the door in her face. Ciaran sighed.
Jax approached the bed again, his eyes already on both the tieflings still sitting there.
"Would either of you care to tell me what the Hells was that about...?" He asked them both, then darted his eyes to Ciaran. "And what the fuck happened to you?"
Lilith looked at Ciaran as well, wondering if he'd be willing to give them more information.
Ciaran looked up at Jax, sighing.
"I got stabbed. And ran into my sister." he just said, not giving them more information than that.
"Ciaran..." Lilith tried to say.
"We didn't even know you had a sister, shithead." Jax said with a slight snarl instead, crossing his arms over his chest, looking down at them. "I'm gonna need more than that."
"Ran..." Lilith called him now, her tone softer than Jax's, as usual. "Help us understand a bit better, will you?"
"She's not important... So I didn't think about mentioning her." he shrugged, tracing patterns on the back of Lilith's hand with his fingers. "I don't know her very well." Then, under Lilith's questioning gaze he added : "She left when I was a kid."
"She did mention that." Lilith let him know. "Implied she left because of your parents, which... Doesn't surprise me." She said calmly, exchanging a look with Jax before her eyes went to Ciaran again, her hand squeezing his gently."... She left you behind, didn't she?" She asked now. Given the fact that she had been trying to apologize to him, and how Ciaran refused to let her get close, it was a fair assumption.
Ciaran slightly tensed at the mention of his parents. "I don't care." He looked away. "She doesn't matter." In fact, he did care a little bit. They were pretty close when they were kids. But he moved on, she didn't matter anymore to him, he thought.
"If you don't care about her... Then why is she still breathing, while your parents aren't?" Jax pointed out, quick and sharp to notice the way Ciaran looked away from Lilith. He didn't care about upsetting him in the process, he was simply saying it how he saw it. "She betrayed you. You should've made her pay for it."
"She's still his sister, Jax." Lilith told him, a bit of a stern look on her face when telling him so. She could see the slight hesitation in Ciaran's expression. He was unsure.
Ciaran was a bit conflicted, he himself wasn't sure why he didn't kill her. He didn't realize that he didn't want her to die.
"She doesn't owe me anything and I don't owe her anything. I don't care whether she's alive or dead." Ciaran looked up at Jax now, changing the subject. "Can we talk about the motherfucker who stabbed me instead ? I didn't get the chance to kill him."
"Sure." Jax shrugged casually. "Let's go kill him then." He stated as he turned towards the door, taking a few steps until he was next to the dead boar on the floor, turning to look back at them. "Lils, you coming?"
"Seriously?" Lilith let out, rolling her eyes slightly at both of them. "Ciaran can barely move. He needs rest."
"I don't need to rest, I'm fine." Ciaran tried to get up and take a few steps but his legs gave out and he caught Jax's arms to stop himself from falling. "....Fine, let's go another day. I want to kill him myself."
Jax couldn't help the amused chuckle that escaped his lips when he saw him stumble, shaking his head at him.
"Dumbass..." He called him as he dragged him back to the bed with ease, dropping him next to Lilith once more, who gave him a little, amused smile too.
Ciaran winced as he did his best to stay sat next to Lilith. He hated feeling weak... especially when his mind was restless. His eyes shifted to Jax's sharp body, his muscles still warm from the hunt... and Lilith's lips, curled up in a little smile.
"... I still don't want to rest." he pulled Jax on the bed, close to them, and started kissing Lilith hungrily.
They were a bit caught off guard by his sudden shift. However, Lilith immediately reciprocated the kiss. Jax growled at the sight, his possessive nature still flaring up despite having done this more than once with Ciaran.
"Seriously, this is where your mind goes after all that shit?" The redhead questioned with amusement by the edge of the bed, one of his hands instinctively going to Lilith's thigh, his fingers sprawled as he caressed her. His other hand yanked Ciaran away from her, giving a chance for Lilith to speak.
"You're one to talk..." She teased him, licking her lips slightly under his burning gaze, then diverting her eyes towards Ciaran as well. "You're lying down for this." She practically ordered him. He was hurt after all.
"No I'm not, I'm fine." he protested. But Lilith made him lie down without asking, so he stopped fighting. His mismatched eyes gazed at their bodies with a lustful look, and he grabbed Jax's top, pulling him closer, the redhead ending up on top of him.
"I want you too." Ciaran said, pulling him into a rough kiss.
Jax didn't fight the kiss. He was starting to get a bit more used to Ciaran doing this to him, and it boosted his ego to know he wanted him that badly despite how their relationship was outside of this. He growled into the kiss, eventually pulling away.
"Always so fucking greedy." He let out almost as if he was complaining, but there was an undeniable smirk on his lips as he started taking off his armor on his own.
As he busied himself with that, Lilith crawled on all fours towards Ciaran instead, hovering above him.
"You stay right where you are." She told him softly, her lips teasingly close to his. "We'll take care of you..."
Ciaran wanted to protest again, to move around, but he knew he couldn't. He slightly growled in frustration when he figured he couldn't lift his head much to kiss her, and threw a needy stare at her lips. "Lils..."
Lilith couldn't help but smile faintly, knowing what he wanted. She closed the distance for him, clashing her lips against his in another hungry kiss, her hands carefully trying to undo his armor as well, being very mindful of the stitches on his neck.
He deepened the kiss, his arms wrapping around her. He helped her take off his armor at the best of his capabilities, trying not to break the kiss.
The two tiefling men ended up being the ones naked first, while Lilith still had her full outfit on. Jax's eyes were immediately eyeing her up and down as she was pulling away from Ciaran, standing on her knees on top of him. Soon, Lilith felt two large hands surround her waist from behind, Jax's body pressing up against her. She could already tell he was hard, and she could see Ciaran was too.
"...What are you doing still dressed, my love?" Jax let out near to her ear, in a tone that felt like a mixture between a growl and a pur, making her shiver and bite her lip slightly.
"Impatient, are we...?" Lilith let out softly, one of her hands rising to touch the side of his face as he pressed warm kisses along her neck, his fingers already working on undoing her dress slowly, knowing Ciaran was watching from his position on the bed.
Once Jax had discarded the chest piece Lilith always wore over her dress, he pulled at the fabric covering her chest, the laces loosening forcefully, her breasts exposed to them now, his hands immediately going over them, his eyes locking with Ciaran's under them, giving him a wicked smile as he licked and nipped at Lilith's neck, making her moan softly.
Ciaran watched Lilith, a faint frustrated growl escaping his lips as he wanted more, he wanted to help, he wanted all of her. He bit his lip at the sight above him, slowly caressing Lilith's thighs.
After he had his fun teasing Ciaran below them, Jax pulled Lilith's dress off through the top, leaving her in only her black panties.
Lilith leaned down, finding Ciaran's lips again as she rocked her hips gently against him, rubbing her clothed cunt against his hard length, while Jax leaned over her as well, kissing and nibbling at her back as his hands roamed around her sides, his own dick pressing against her.
Ciaran groaned into the kiss, wrapping an arm around her, holding her close. His other hand was gently stroking Lilith's waist, tracing along her skin until her breasts. His other arm let go of her so he could take both of her breasts, caressing them, teasing her nipples.
Lilith broke the kiss to moan softly as they both touched her, Ciaran's hands going over her breasts, while Jax's traveled down her body, going over her rear now as she gave her a squeeze, only to them move his fingers over her tail slowly, the appendage instinctively wrapping around his arm as she let out a pleased sigh above Ciaran, her eyes locking with his as she continued rubbing against him. He grabbed her arm and gently pulled her against him, nibbling on her neck as he groaned against her skin.
"Lils... I want you..."
His dick was twitching against her, leaking precum as he was really aroused already. However, before Lilith could do anything about it, Jax's hands yanked her away, making her lean back up and pressing her back against his chest, one of his hands moving to grab her neck, not roughly, but firmly enough to keep her close to him.
"Hm, that's too bad..." The redhead spoke teasingly to Ciaran, his other hand moving down to get under Lilith's panties, touching her wetness directly. Lilith whimpered almost involuntarily at his touch, her body shivering with need.
"Jax..." She let out softly. She wasn't sure if she was complaining or pleading at this point, all the attention she was getting had her mind hazy.
"Don't worry, love..." He spoke to her more sweetly, kissing her shoulder. "You know I've got you." He added as he released her neck, both his hands pulling down her underwear now, until Lilith herself took it fully off of her, discarding it to a side.
Then, she positioned herself on all fours again. Though, this time, she hovered between Ciaran's legs, one of her hands slowly going over his dick, gently wrapping her fingers around him, the contact immediately making him groan desperately.
Jax watched as she did so, moving closer to her as one of his hands started rubbing her from behind for a moment, making her moan. His other hand, however, was pumping himself back and forth in preparation.
Lilith was starting to stroke Ciaran with her hand, when Jax's body leaned over her, speaking into her ear.
"Don't lose focus, baby..." He teased as he started pushing into her slowly, growling at the feeling. Lilith's movements faltered slightly as she moaned a bit louder, but she continued what she was doing, looking up at Ciaran with hungry eyes.
Ciaran bit his lip harder at the sight of her, moaning on top of him, as he groaned softly under her touch. His hand ran over her shoulder, tracing along her arm. He locked eyes with her and tried to sit, craving more contact with her, but she kept him down, one hand on his chest.
She tried her best to focus on what she wanted to do despite Jax thrusting relentlessly into her, guiding Ciaran's dick towards her lips and kissing the tip of it before she started licking it up and down, getting it slick and smooth as she continued stroking him at the same time, a few soft moans and whimpers escaping her lips as she did so, unable to contain them. Jax continued moving behind her, his hands grabbing her hips tightly, Lilith's tail wrapping around him.
"...Fuck." He let out under his breath as he groaned, his own hips colliding with her rear with determination.
Ciaran groaned louder as Lilith took him completely into her mouth, her warm tongue swirling around his dick as she moved up and down on him. He tangled his fingers in her hair, his chest moving rapidly as she worked on him.
Lilith really had to focus now, trying to match Jax's thrusts with the movements she made on Ciaran, her own moans and whimpers vibrating on him as she bobbed her head up and down, helping herself with her hand to cover him fully.
Jax leaned down over her, his hands snaking around her body until they found her breasts, his sharp teeth sinking into the back of her shoulder. Lilith moaned, having to take Ciaran out of her mouth, mindful of not hurting him as her attention faltered for a moment.
"Gods..." She let out softly, her hands trying to continue stroking Ciaran as she gently bit near his groin, teasing him and trying to keep herself in check.
Ciaran let out a groan, his fingers tightening their grip in her hair but still mindful of not hurting her. He couldn't take much more, each touch bringing him closer to the edge.
"Lils..." he let out in a low voice. He needed more.
Lilith whimpered, unable to fully form words at the moment. She knew what he wanted, so she did her best to take him into her mouth once more as Jax leaned back up again with a faint growl, his hands caressing along her back. He was close, and he could feel Lilith was too, reaching out between her legs to touch her clit. She moaned immediately as she had Ciaran in her mouth, her tongue swirling all around him as she moved.
Ciaran's muscles were contracting as he got closer, trying to hold back as long as possible as he wanted the feeling to last. One last movement threw him over the edge and he came in a louder groan, releasing himself in Lilith's mouth. Lilith took as much of him as she could, though she had to pull away from him when she felt herself following right along with her own orgasm, her hands grabbing at his body desperately as she moaned and trembled, her legs shaking. Her inner walls clenched around Jax as he growled and groaned a bit louder, releasing inside of her as he held onto her hips tightly, almost clawing into her skin, though trying not to, leaning down so his forehead rested on her back, his chest heaving.
Lilith shifted a little, sitting down on top of Ciaran as she properly wiped her lips with the back of her hand, her legs a bit weak now, panting softly, trying to catch her breath just like the two tiefling men were. Jax wrapped his arms around her waist gently, placing a kiss on her shoulder.
"...Round two?" The redhead asked, a wicked smirk creeping up on his lips as he nibbled on her skin this time. Lilith couldn't do anything other than chuckle lightly, not really surprised by his suggestion.
"Yeah, it's my turn with Lilith." Ciaran reminded him, catching his breath. He reached out to her and laced his fingers with hers, pulling her closer. She could feel he was still hard, still ready and eager for more. Jax was too, by the look of it.
"You two are impossible..." Lilith let out with amusement.
"Hmm, I wonder whose fault that is." Jax teased her as he squeezed her ass, then peeked over her shoulder at Ciaran, his red eyes piercing and malicious. "You know what that means, don't you, shithead?" He questioned. If Ciaran wanted Lilith, then the redhead would have to find a different source of release.
"Sure." Ciaran wrapped an arm around Lilith, smirking at Jax, holding his gaze. "...But what makes you think I'll let you do that ?”
"Don't test me, asshole." Jax snarled softly at him, trying to keep himself calm. "You can't even properly move to fight me over this." He both teased and reminded him of his wound. Lilith's expression kept a knowing smile on her lips as she placed soft little kisses on Ciaran's face.
Suddenly, Jax yanked Ciaran's tail, dragging him closer towards him and making him let out an annoyed groan. Lilith's body had slightly moved with him in the process as well, still trying to be careful with Ciaran's stitched up neck.
"Careful, Jax..." She told him softly and calmly as she shifted away from the wound, looking back at the redhead tiefling.
"Yeah, yeah..." He said lazily as he grabbed her face, keeping it turned and bringing her closer so he could kiss her with hunger.
Then, as they pulled away, both their attentions went to the male tiefling lying down. Jax's hand was still holding onto Ciaran's tail as he took a good look at them in front of him, while Lilith’s bright white eyes now stared down at the black-haired man under her.
"Whatever..." Ciaran wagged his tail, both annoyed to be in this state, but also aroused for what was to come. "Just wait til I can move again..." He pulled Lilith closer, cupping her face with one hand and kissed her eagerly.
As the two kissed, Jax's grip on Ciaran's tail tightened lightly. He still had to control his possessiveness of Lilith, but he was learning to let it go when it came to Ciaran. He brought his free hand to his lips, licking two of his fingers before he lowered it again, careful of his sharp nails as he started rubbing the other male tiefling's entrance in small circles, his dick already twitching with anticipation.
Ciaran hummed lightly in the kiss and ran his hand over Lilith's thigh to her cunt, gently stroking her clit.
"I want you..." he whispered against her lips, his mismatched eyes looking for her bright gaze.
Lilith gasped softly as he touched her, biting her lower lip softly as she looked at him.
"So impatient..." She teased him, straightening up her back as one of her hands went down to grab his dick carefully, guiding it towards her cunt. She turned back slightly, seeking Jax's eyes for a moment. The redhead gave her a wicked grin, as if replying to something without the need for words.
Then, at the same time as Lilith slid the length into herself, two of Jax's fingers slid into Ciaran as well.
Ciaran groaned softly, his hips arched at the contact. His dick was fully filling Lilith's cunt in this position, he was twitching inside her at the feeling. He bit down his lip, gently grabbing Lilith's hips, trying to help her move, desperate for some friction. He looked over at Jax's bright red eyes.
"Just fucking take me already..."
Jax couldn't help but chuckle at his words.
"Greedy bastard..." He growled softly as he pulled his fingers out of him, his hand going to his own dick to guide himself as he started pushing inside of him slowly, making sure he could fit. Not that he cared that much, but he wouldn't hear the end of it from Lilith if he hurt Ciaran. The more he got in, the closer he was to her, which immediately made him rest his forehead on her shoulder, groaning, while she rocked her hips on top of Ciaran, feeling him hitting all the right spots from this position.
"Fuck..." Ciaran groaned, his tail curling around Jax's arm, his fingers burying in Lilith's hips. He thought he was going to lose his mind at the feeling of both of them and the view he had of Lilith. His hands went over her body, caressing her skin as she moved on him.
Lilith continued moving her hips on top of him, soft moans and whimpers escaping her lips as she slid him in and out of her, feeling his hands over her, as well as Jax's hot breath on her skin as he thrusted into Ciaran, his free hand holding onto her as well, keeping his head close to hers as he gently nibbled at her ear or her neck.
Soon enough, Jax wrapped his arm fully around Lilith, pressing her back against his chest as he looked over at Ciaran one more time, keeping eye contact with him as he started kissing, biting and sucking Lilith's neck ravenously, his hand toying with her breast as she moaned and whined a bit louder, all while he continued thrusting into him deeply, his other hand keeping his tail in place. Though he was getting used to sharing, he still enjoyed taunting him with Lilith and whatever sounds he could get out of her.
Ciaran growled in frustration of not being able to move much, even like this he wanted to be the one all over Lilith. He managed to move his hips with her, pushing deep inside her as one of his hands went to her clit, teasing her, caressing her.
"Hells..." Lilith let out almost breathlessly. It all felt so good, yet so overwhelming. If they kept going like that, she wasn't sure how long she'd be able to last. As Jax released his grasp on her, moving his hand to her hip again, she lowered her body, pressing herself against Ciaran as she continued moving on top of him, her lips clashing against his in a desperate kiss, feeling how he moved his hips against her, while she could also feeling Jax colliding against her rear as he thrusted into Ciaran, growling and panting.
Ciaran groaned in the kiss, one arm wrapping around her while his other hand still played with her clit. The feeling of Jax thrusting into him and Lilith moving on him was almost too much. His lips parted as a groan escaped them, panting under Lilith, each movement pushing him closer to the edge.
"Fuck... I'm going to..."
He held Lilith tighter, a warm feeling pooling into his stomach. He pushed deeper in her as he released himself inside, groaning louder. Lilith moaned as she reached her own orgasm as well, clenching around him, her legs shaking and her chest heaving with exhaustion, her body going limp on top of him. Jax growled loudly, only this time it didn't come from pleasure, but anger.
"Fuck you, Ciaran!" He let out with a snarl as he clawed at his tail on purpose, trying to hurt him. "How many fucking times do I have to tell you!?" He questioned angrily, letting go of him completely, both letting go of his tail and pulling out of him suddenly, his dick still twitching as he contained himself just by sheer anger alone. Ciaran had finished inside Lilith yet again, and it never failed to piss him off.
Jax pulled her away from him, making her turn in his direction, his red eyes immediately seeking hers with a questioning gaze. She knew what he wanted, and her lips curled into a smile.
"Calm down, you demon... I've got you." She told him sweetly as he had told her when they started this, her hand immediately wrapping around his dick and eliciting a low groan from him as soon as she started moving.
"Ah, fuck..." Jax let out, barely containing himself.
Lilith laid down over Ciaran, her free hand seeking him out just to let him know she had not forgotten about him, his hands immediately holding onto her as she continued stroking Jax in front of them, legs spreading for him.
"Lils... Can I...?" He tried to ask, though he didn't need to finish his words, Lilith's hand was already guiding him towards her cunt so he'd slide in, the feeling of her warmth alone quickly sending him over the edge as he trapped her lips in a hungry kiss, groaning and releasing inside of her as well.
"Fuck you too." Ciaran finally said, as he contained his own annoyment to let him finish. "I don't need your fucking permission." He shifted away from them and sat down painfully, holding his neck. "And I'm tired of your selfish ass." He put his clothes back on, mindful of his stitches.
"Said the one who had us fuck him at the same time..." Jax taunted as he tried to recover from his climax, letting himself drop down on his back next to Lilith with one of his legs bent, one of his arms going to rest on his forehead while he tried for his breathing to go back to normal, not really caring to be called selfish. He was well aware of how he was, he still didn't care. His tail swayed to the side of the bed peacefully, unbothered.
Lilith sat next to him, both of them still naked, as she watched Ciaran get fully dressed, her eyes following his movements. This was not the first time the two male tieflings argued, and it certainly wouldn't be the last, so she wasn't all that worried about it, they both always stuck around anyway.
"Where are you going?" She questioned.
"Away from him." Ciaran stood up without a look at them, helping himself with the wall to walk to the door. He left the house and sat against the wall, his body trembling a bit as he was not really in condition to be walking around.
Lilith sighed tiredly, leaning back as she pressed her hands on the mattress behind her to support herself, her legs bent to a side.
"Spit it out, Lils..." Jax told her calmly, waiting to hear what he already knew was on her mind. She turned her head towards him, looking down at his face, fully relaxed and unfazed.
"Did you really have to do that...?" She questioned, immediately receiving a sharp chuckle from him.
"He knew what the deal was when he decided to stick around..." The redhead pointed out, moving his arm over his eyes as if he intended to sleep, though taking a quick look at her, watching her furrow her nose at him.
"It isn't about just you and me anymore, and you know that." She told him as she rolled over next to him, laying on her stomach and pulling his arm off of his face so she could properly see him. Jax rolled his eyes, yet his demeanor was still relaxed. "...Would it kill you to be decent to him?" She asked.
"I'm already fairly decent to him." The redhead argued calmly. "He gets to fuck you and keep breathing."
"Jax."
"What?" He let out a bit more annoyed now, her insistence shaking his patience a bit, now using his elbows to prop himself up a bit. "I'm doing this for you, remember? I was perfectly fine with just the two of us." He argued more seriously now, his previous calm expression now hardening. "I don't know if you forgot, Lilith, but I'm not kind. Nor selfless, nor forgiving..."
"Yeah, yeah..." Lilith sighed, understanding his point, resting her head on his chest, pensive. "I don't know if you forgot, but I know you better than anyone..." She retorted, mimicking his way of speaking. "...And I know you don't hate Ciaran as much as you pretend to do."
"Well that's just fucking hilarious." Jax couldn't help but actually laugh, his sharp teeth fully showing as he propped himself up further. "You trying to say I like that shithead?"
"I think you do." Lilith got closer to his face, teasing him. "And I think you're too prideful to admit that you're just as charmed by him as I am..."
"Bullshit." He argued, sticking his tongue out to dart it across her lips playfully. "One wrong move and I'll cut his head off."
"And who will you compete with then?" She questioned, a knowing smirk tugging at her lips. "Who else has come this close to be your equal in terms of bloodlust, huh?" She kept teasing him. "...You like having him around."
Jax shifted a bit, cracking his neck as he processed her words, his expression a bit more serious now. He couldn't argue with the fact that he did get a kick out of competing with Ciaran, from taunting him. He also couldn't deny he was impressed by how similar they actually were.
"Don't worry, I won't tell on you..." Lilith smiled at him now, shifting on the bed until she was sitting by the edge giving him her back, turning her head slightly in his direction. "But leave the poor guy alone."
Ciaran rested his head on the wall, unaware of their conversation. He knew how Jax was but... Being the only one making some efforts could prove challenging at times. He too loved Lilith more than anything, still he never made a comment on anything Jax did with her. Not that he would really dare to anyway, Jax being the one that was here first... Ciaran didn't feel legitimate, for anything for that matter, maybe that was part of why Jax's comments could be difficult to take. Some part of him felt like he didn't belong.
As he was lost in his own conflicting thoughts, the door to their home opened. He fully expected Lilith to be the one peeking through, wanting to check on him. However, it was Jax's bright red eyes he found, his body still fully naked as he peeked out, almost as if he was looking for Ciaran and wasn't expecting him to be just there, right by the door.
"You didn't go far at all..." He let out with amusement, a toothy grin on his lips. As he was looking at the black-haired tiefling, a woman was passing by through the street, her eyes landing on Jax's bare body and squealing with embarrassment, covering her eyes as she started running. Ciaran couldn't help but let out an amused chuckle at her reaction. Jax had little to no reaction whatsoever, looking at her momentarily before he looked back at Ciaran. He didn't give a damn. "There's still a dead boar on the ground... Wanna help me gut it?"
He hesitated, part of him wanting to stay away from Jax still, but he just let out a long sigh and stood up, helping himself with the wall again.
"Sure."
Jax clicked his tongue, noticing he was still struggling pretty badly.
"Come on." He told him, moving so he could stand by Ciaran's unwounded side, taking his arm and putting it over his shoulder while he grabbed his waist, helping him walk inside the house.

The full moon was shining bright in the sky, it was the middle of the night and Ciaran, Lilith and Jax were walking in the city, trying to be discreet despite their tall sizes and impressive weapons.
“So, where are we going ?” Lilith asked.
Ciaran and Jax exchanged a knowing look.
“You’ll see”, Ciaran simply said.
They arrived at an intersection and stopped, Lilith looking at them, trying to figure out what was next.
“Stay with her, I’ll be back in a sec.” Ciaran said to Jax before disappearing in another street. He kicked down the front door of a bathhouse, holding his scimitars.
“Everyone out. Now.”
Everyone screamed, pushing each other to get to the door first. Only one employee remained.
“You- you get out ! Now !”
Ciaran rolled his eyes and pushed his scimitars in her chest. He lifted the body and threw it behind the bathhouse, wiping his hands on his pants.
Jax and Lilith did what Ciaran had told them, and waited. They had gone into the nearest alley so they wouldn’t be too out in the open. It was difficult to tell who could come after them while they were in the city. The rumors of the Bhaal temple being slaughtered had spread all around, and now, more followers of the Lord of Murder came in to see exactly what had gone down at the temple and who was responsible, putting a target on both Lilith’s and Jax’s back.
“You know something.” Lilith told Jax, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips as she crossed her arms. Jax smirked at her fully.
“Maybe I do, maybe I don’t.” He teased. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
“We’ve been around the city for too long.” She pointed out now as she looked to one of the sides of the street, her smile fading as she thought of the threat lurking around.
“We won’t stay for much longer.” Jax reassured her. As he was talking, the both of them heard something, movement above them, and their eyes immediately locked knowingly.
“Told you.” Lilith teased him in a whisper.
“Yeah, yeah…” Jax let out with amusement, his eyes already scanning around for more signs of a threat. In an instant, his eyes spotted a glimmer of something, his body reacting immediately. “Watch out!” He let out quickly as he stood in front of Lilith to cover her with his body, when an arrow flew in their direction, hitting Jax on the back of the shoulder, piercing through his skin until it broke through the front of him, the metal perfectly in view for Lilith. He had little to no reaction except for the natural jerking movement his body did at the collision, yet Lilith's eyes opened wide at the sight of it. Jax's head turned back, his red eyes shining brightly as a deep growl crawled from deep within his throat.
In a mere moment, they were surrounded by a group of hooded figures. A few of them held their bows high, while the others held sharp daggers. Lilith and Jax shifted, their bodies already adopting a fighting stance. Jax's eyes were fixed on the archer behind him, possibly responsible for the arrow in his shoulder.
"Jax." Lilith simply addressed him, wanting to make sure he was alright.
"I'm fine." He replied as he reached out for the arrow, immediately snapping it in half and pushing it out, unfazed. His eyes started scanning around them, counting how many enemies there were in his head, then wielding his great-sword in his hands. "I sure hope you've brought more than arrows and daggers..." He told them all as Lilith pulled out her swords as well.
"We want the kinslayer." One of the hooded figures in front of them spoke, a male voice under the mysterious appearance. It was then when they noticed that most of them were turned towards Lilith. She frowned. Of course, this had to happen eventually. The moment they set foot back on Baldur's Gate, she knew it was coming.
“That's too bad." Lilith replied calmly, almost smugly if it wasn't for the seriousness in her expression. "I’m not setting foot in that temple ever again."
"Your blood shall be spilled in Bhaal's name." The man spoke again, pointing at her with his dagger. "You shall pay for your betrayal."
"Lilith." Jax addressed her now, simply asking for permission, his fingers twitching around his sword. The nod Lilith gave him was barely perceivable, but enough for him to catch it.
With almost inhuman speed, Jax had moved directly in front of the hooded man, his long sword already swinging in the air by the time he got there, cutting directly through the man's body at waist level, brutally cutting him in half, blood splattering everywhere, specially on Jax. Every other hooded figure seemed to freeze at the shock, as the tiefling man held his sword firmly in his hands, looking at all of them. His face was stained with blood, and he licked his lips to taste it, his sharp teeth showing.
"She is mine. Under my protection." He stated firmly. “Touch her, and you'd all suffer the same fate as this one." He warned as he gestured to the corpse at his feet.
"We know who you are." A different hooded figure spoke up now, this time, a female voice. "Her vicious, faithful dog..." She called him as if to offend him, but Jax's lips widened with a wicked smile. "The Lord of Murder's greatest disappointment right after her."
"What? Am I supposed to cry now?" Jax snorted at her words. "I wonder who'd become a greater disappointment when your guts are all over the ground…"
As Jax spoke, Lilith noticed the archers getting ready to shoot again. However, before she did anything… Ciaran showed up, kicking and throwing some of them around before he placed himself between Jax and her, yet his attention immediately went to Lilith.
“I need to get you out of here.” He told her, getting a bit closer, his hand going for her cheek to cup it gently. “They’re everywhere. I’ll get you somewhere safe while Jax holds them off.” At his words, Jax took a look at him. It wasn’t necessarily a bad plan, though there was something off about it. Then, he noticed Ciaran didn’t have his scimitars. That man never went anywhere without his weapons.
“What? No!” Lilith argued, almost offended at his suggestion, not noticing his lack of weapons yet. She could fight, and fight well. He knew that. “I’m not going anywhere without Jax.” She added as well. Though she knew Jax would likely take them all without so much as breaking a sweat, she wasn’t going to leave him on his own.
“Yes, you are.” Ciaran argued back, grabbing her arm. “You’re coming with me.” He added as he started pulling her, trying to get her away from Jax, making her frown. But the moment he tried to get away from there, a large hand pulled his own arm too, forcefully throwing him against the nearest wall. Jax pointed his sword at him, his eyes darkened in a deep frown.
“Since when do you run away from a fight…?” The redhead questioned, his voice firm and taunting.
“Jax, what are you-” Lilith tried to ask.
“Where are your scimitars?” He pointed out too, letting him know he had indeed noticed. Lilith looked at Ciaran with a questioning frown, realizing the redhead was right. Ciaran would never leave his weapons behind anywhere.
“The fuck are you doing!?” Ciaran told him angrily.
“Answer the fucking question, shithead.” Jax commanded. But while he was threatening him, he was giving the others his back.
"Ad Lapidē!" The hooded female figure spoke suddenly. In a second, Jax was frozen in place, his eyes the only thing he could move, which were darting around everywhere, trying to gain his movement back.
Lilith immediately reacted, launching herself towards the woman to pierce through her belly with her swords, her white eyes shining brightly with anger. Ciaran moved away from Jax’s sword now that he was paralyzed, his expression eerily calm. As Lilith was starting to fight off the rest of the hooded figures, he wrapped his arms around her from behind, trapping her arms under his larger form. Lilith struggled, trying to kick him or headbutt him, but he had a good arm-lock on her.
“I would’ve enjoyed playing with you a bit more in this form…” He spoke near her ear, no need to keep the facade any longer. “But we shouldn’t keep Bhaal waiting…”
Before she could do anything else about it, she was put into a Sleep enchantment, laying her unconscious in his familiar yet unknown arms. Some of the surviving hooded figures started dispersing, as Jax tried to break out of his spell, his body still paralyzed, yet shaking slightly by his struggle, desperately trying to regain his movements back, yet some others stayed, daggers in hand, considering their chances. The fake Ciaran took Lilith in his arms, carrying her away from there before the redhead could do anything about it. Jax growled furiously as he watched him through the corner of his eye, his body twitching and trembling, his eyes burning with rage.
"Let's kill him before he breaks free..." One of the hooded figures told the others, approaching the angered tiefling carefully.
Finally, almost as if he had broken through thick glass, the spell broke off as Jax snarled wildly, swinging his sword back around to get to them, though still a bit affected by the spell, not accurate enough to hit them and instead cracking the ground between them as they dodged.
"Out of my fucking way!!" Jax shouted loudly, his voice raspy and guttural from sheer rage alone.
The hooded figures launched at him, yet their confidence did not save them. In a mere moment, Jax had cut down one of them through their stomach, spilling their guts onto the floor. He pushed another to the floor, sinking his sword right in their face, breaking their skull apart immediately, blood spilling everywhere. As for the last one... In his fit of rage, Jax left his sword in the corpse as he grabbed the hooded figure and broke their arm to make them drop their dagger, then grabbed them by the head, their hood dropping to reveal a very young man, almost a teenager, a horrified and pained expression on his face. But all Jax could see was red, his sharp teeth showing like a feral animal as he sank his thumbs into the boy's eyes, making him scream in pain as he died.
Jax stood there for a moment, covered in blood, his chest heaving angrily, trying to regain his senses, trying to keep a cool head despite the unbridled fury burning deep within him. The bhaalists had Lilith, his Lilith. And they were going to suffer for it.
The real Ciaran showed up, a proud smile stretching his lips as he spoke "All clear, you can com-" he stopped when he saw the corpses on the ground, immediately grabbing his scimitars. He scanned the scene before him : a few bodies were laying on the floor, blood scattered everywhere. Jax was standing in the middle of it with a look that could have frightened anyone else. He noticed Lilith wasn't there and his protective instinct woke up instantly. He walked to Jax. "Where is Lilith ? What happened ?” he spoke urgently.
Jax's head immediately snapped in his direction at the sound of his voice, his body almost moving on its own accord as his hand shot up in Ciaran's direction, grabbing him by the throat and brutally pushing him against the wall, a deep, animalistic growl crawling up from his own throat. This Ciaran was carrying his weapons, but that mattered little now. This could be another shapeshifter for all he knew. The arrow wound on his left shoulder bled slightly, but he could not feel it, he could barely think anything right now. He needed to get to Lilith, everything else was a distraction.
Ciaran's hands went to his own throat, instinctively clawing at his hand, trying to loosen his grip. He kicked Jax in the stomach, making him recoil.
"What the hell Jax ?" he rubbed his throat, looking at Jax's wound on the shoulder. "What the fuck happened ? Where is Lilith ?" he questioned again.
Jax held onto his stomach momentarily, recovering rather quickly. The collision seemed to make him regain some of his senses, yet the anger still burnt within him, he could not shake that away. This had to be the Ciaran they knew, right? Otherwise he would've tried to kill him.
"The bhaalists took her." He snarled at him as he sheathed his sword and turned on his heels, immediately starting to walk with rushed, determined steps in the direction he had seen the fake Ciaran leave with Lilith in his arms. "I'm going to kill them all." He said as he walked, knowing full well Ciaran would follow, not bothering to even look at him. "I'll kill every single one of them until there's no one left to worship Bhaal."
Ciaran's eyes widened. He felt his stomach drop at his words. His hands shook in both panic and pure anger. His eyes darkened. Lilith was taken. This couldn't happen. If she was harmed... He stopped himself, he couldn't afford to think like that. He didn't have time for this. He had to find her. He started to run in the direction Jax was headed. He ran like hell, his tunnel vision keeping him from paying any attention to other people he could push to pass through the streets of the city. The way to the temple felt endless, he was taking too much time, but they couldn't have done anything to her yet, right ? The two enraged tieflings eventually reached the temple, violently slashing through the guard's bodies.
Lilith opened her eyes slowly, her mind feeling hazy and confused as she tried to make sense of what had happened. It dawned on her the moment she turned her head to the size, facing the giant skull carved into the stone of the Bhaal Temple. She could feel the coldness of the stoned altar under her, the tightness of the ropes around her body, keeping her arms bent and pressed against her chest, unable to move them. The smell of blood. The smell of death. It was all too familiar, all far too unpleasant for her to remember.
She cursed herself for not being able to prevent this from happening. She knew they would come after her, it was only a matter of time. They would never leave her alone as long as she was alive. Bhaal would still haunt her one way or another, there was no escaping him.
She struggled against her restraints, growling faintly as she writhed, but they were well tied.
"She's awake." She heard a faint voice near her as she turned her head, noticing a few bhaalists approaching the altar she had been placed on. Some of them were still wearing their cloaks, but all hoods were down now.
She spotted the fake Ciaran behind them, slowly moving from one side to the other until, as he passed behind the other figures, he returned to his original appearance, which had nothing to do with the grey-skinned tiefling she knew. Lilith scanned all their faces, a deep frown over her eyes. These were new faces to her. After all, Jax had slaughtered everyone who resided in the temple after Bhaal killed her. Those bhaalists she used to know from her Chosen days were no more. These had to have come from different cities, settled on the empty temple to keep killing in the name of their lord. To hunt her down. They should've never returned to Baldur's Gate.
"For a former Chosen, you sure are disappointing." A bhaalist woman spoke as she got closer, looking down at her with disdain. She looked like some kind of priestess."...I almost can't believe you killed Orin The Red."
"Untie me, and I'll show you how I did it. Lilith let out firmly, her eyes challenging. The woman chuckled faintly.
"I think not." She shook her head. "You're not here to fight... You're here to be sacrificed, kinslayer."
As the priestess finished her words, Lilith could see red light up the room they were in as they all looked behind her. She didn't need to turn around to know what it was, she knew it all too well. The giant skull's eyes shimmered brightly, a tell-tale sign on Bhaal's presence. She felt a shiver run down her spine, this was bringing up so many memories, and none of them good.
She finally turned her head towards the stoned face. She could feel the presence, she knew he was watching.
"I remember you, child." Bhaal's deep, raspy voice echoed all over the temple walls. "You, who refused me once. You, whose blood I reclaimed..." He continued as Lilith stared down at the statue with a mixture of anger and sorrow. She would not soon forget how he killed her, despite being brought back soon after. "It is an insult that you continue to draw breath, and so, you shall breathe no longer..."
Jax and Ciaran moved through the giant temple, slashing and crushing their way through any Bhaalists who dared cross their paths. Nobody was going to stop them. Nobody would keep them from getting to Lilith. They HAD to get to Lilith before anything happened to her.
As they ran through the bridge that led to the main entrance of the temple, jumping and dodging over several deadly traps, Jax's blood ran cold at the familiar sound of the Lord of Murder's voice echoing on the walls. If Bhaal was present, their plans were already nearing the end.
"Lilith." He let out quietly as he started running ever faster. He needed to get to her. Now. Ciaran ran at Jax's side. He had never heard this voice but he could guess this was nothing good. They barged in the temple and Ciaran froze at the scene for a minute, staring at the imposing giant skull. But his eyes fell on Lilith soon enough.
"Lilith!" He clenched his scimitars.
"Jax! Ciaran!" She quickly let out as soon as she heard the black-haired tiefling's voice and saw them come running down the stairs towards the altar area.
"Get her out!" Ciaran said to Jax, lunging at the bhaalists surrounding her. In truth, he wasn't sure Jax was actually listening to him, growling and already fighting off several bhaalists that immediately lunged at him. Lilith shifted on the altar, trying to get up despite her restraints.
"No." The priestess spoke calmly as she kept a close eye on the tiefling men as the others dealt with them, approaching her with a dagger in hand. "You won't be leaving the temple this time." As she finished speaking, she launched at Lilith, ready to stab her. Lilith dodged it as the blade screeched against the stone, rolling around on the stone until she fell off of the altar with a loud thud.
The priestess jumped over the altar, grabbing her as the tiefling writhed under her, headbutting her right on the nose so hard she broke it, immediately making her bleed. The woman groaned in pain, a bit dazed by the collision, which Lilith took as an opportunity to kick her in the knee, forcefully making her hit the ground in front of her, dropping the dagger. She crawled to it as quickly as she could, trying to rub on the sharp end of the blade to cut down the ropes keeping her hands tied.
The bhaalist priestess seemed to regain some of her senses back, immediately lunging at Lilith again. However, during their tussle, the tiefling managed to throw her down the chasm surrounding the altar area, hearing her screams fade away the more she fell into the abysm.
Lilith went back to trying to cut her restraints, wanting to join in on the fight. Yet, just when she was done cutting and her hands went free, another bhaalist grabbed her, a man, bigger and more muscular, effortlessly pinning her down on the cold floor, his hands tightly gripping her neck.
"You shall breathe no longer, kinslayer." He repeated part of Bhaal's words to Lilith, an unhinged look on his face. Jax spotted them as he fought, his gaze immediately darkening.
"Lils!" He called out to her as he punched and slashed at the other bhaalists attacking him, almost piling up on him and Ciaran so they couldn't get to her. He growled angrily, he would get to her one way or another.
Lilith could feel the man's hands tightening further on her throat, breathing was becoming a challenge. She clawed at his large hands, making him bleed, and yet he didn't let go. Her eyes darted to the giant skull on the wall, its eyes still glowing. She knew Bhaal was watching it all happen. Enjoying it.
"Lilith!" Ciaran called out to her too, trying to run to her as the bhaalists grabbed him.
Then, Lilith's eyes darted to the dagger on the floor. She struggled, one of her hands reaching out as the man continued applying pressure on her throat, her mind getting cloudy and her eyes closing slowly... Until her fingertips touch the cold metal of the dagger. Like it was second nature, she wrapped her fingers around the handle and quickly shot her hand towards the man, sinking the blade into the side of his neck and slashing, immediately making him bleed out on top of her as he released his grip and his heavy body dropped on top of her.
Jax and Ciaran managed to get the last bhaalist off of them. Jax pierced through them with his sword, which he practically dropped loudly on the ground as he ran towards Lilith, pulling the large man off of her, blood still spilling from his neck.
"Lils." He called her again as he inspected her body for injuries, his hands softly touching her face, then her shoulders. Her chest heaved from the effort and the air deprivation, covered in the man's blood now, but otherwise unharmed except for the bruises on her neck. Jax got off the floor, helping her up as he immediately pulled her into a tight hug, one of his hands on her back, pressing her closer, while the other tangled in her hair. Lilith's arms surrounded his waist instinctively just like they always did, letting out a relieved sigh at the comfort of his touch. Her eyes went to the giant stone skull as she hugged him, its red eyes slowly fading away.
Ciaran had approached as quickly as he could, standing still as he watched their comforting embrace, feeling a very familiar tightness in his chest at the sight of their bond, one he didn't fully feel a part of. Jax kissed Lilith's forehead as they pulled away, and she turned to face the black-haired tiefling.
"Ciaran." She let out with a soft smile, letting go of the redhead and going towards him, embracing him too, catching him a bit off guard, but immediately reacting at her touch, melting into it as his arms wrapped around her just as tightly as Jax's had done.
"Are you alright?" Ciaran asked her softly into the crook of her neck.
"Yeah, I'm alright." She told him softly still, her voice a bit strained.
The redhead watched them with a small frown, though his eyes soon darted to the giant skull. Bhaal was gone. He had failed once more.
As he allowed himself to finally relax, knowing Lilith was safe, his mind started hazing.
Lilith and Ciaran immediately pulled away when they felt Jax falling to his knees near the altar with an uncomfortable frown.
"Jax!" Lilith let out as she quickly crouched down followed by Ciaran, her hands going to the redhead's arms as she took a quick look at him, remembering the wound on his shoulder.
"I'm fine!" Jax retorted, despite the deep frown on his face. Lilith checked the wound under his clothes, noticing small black veins sprouting from the wound. Poison.
"Shit..." The female tiefling said under her breath. "We need to get back to our place." She turned to look at Ciaran. "We need an antidote."
"I probably have one." he reassured her. "I keep all sorts of things I find useful."
He slipped Jax's arm around his shoulders to help him up. "Come on, let's go."
They went through the huge temple that was now empty, no one left was there to stop them now, though Ciaran stayed alert just in case. They headed out and towards their temporary home, an abandoned house they managed to clean and make comfortable again. Ciaran kept an eye on both of them along the way, he couldn't afford to lose them. He pushed the door of their place, helping Jax carefully to the bed. He didn't need to tell Lilith to stay beside Jax, he knew that's what she was going to do. He went through his bag, looking for anything that could cure Jax from the poison. He grabbed a vial, unsure.
"This might work..."
"Let me see." Lilith said as she approached him. She was no stranger to poisoned blades or arrows, so she had a bit of knowledge on what worked and what didn't. Ciaran handed her the vial as she inspected the small label on it. "Yes, this should do it."
She grabbed a few more things before the two of them returned to Jax's side. The redhead was still frowning at the uncomfortable feeling in his shoulder, starting to feel numb, yet his skin also felt as if it was burning, his body drenched in sweat now. He wasn't one to show much emotion when it came to these things, but Lilith was sure it had to hurt.
She pulled his armor off as carefully as she could with Ciaran's help, leaving him shirtless so she could get to the wound easier, and keeping him sitting down so she could reach both sides of it.
"Drink it." She told the wounded tiefling as she handed him the antidote vial. Jax did as she told him and gulped it in one quick go, his nose furrowing slightly at the bitter taste. "I need to clean the wound, it's probably gonna sting like hells." She warned him now, while Jax simply gave her a knowing nod.
She dampened a gauze in alcohol, pressing it against the front side of the wound first as she gently held onto him. Jax immediately sucked in air through gritted teeth, feeling the sting, a faint groan escaped his lips as he sighed, his frown deepening almost as if he was upset about it actually hurting.
"You probably spread the toxin around by moving so much." She stated now, using her free hand to touch his forehead to check his temperature. "You've got a fever."
"I'm fine." Jax repeated as he had done earlier, brushing it off. "Besides, I wasn't going to stand around while you were-" He was interrupted by Lilith pressing another gauze on the other side of his wound, groaning at the feeling once more.
"I know." She replied, focused, yet a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Thank you, both of you." She told them now as her eyes darted to Ciaran.
He looked away, fidgeting with his pendant. He was feeling guilty. When he found her again after everything she and Jax had been through, he promised himself he would never let anything happen to her again. Yet today the Bhaalists took her and almost killed her.
"I'm sorry. I should have never left your side."
"I didn't." Jax pointed out, reminding him rather than arguing, allowing Lilith to wrap some bandages to cover up his wound. "That fucking shapeshifter distracted me..."
"He fooled me too." Lilith smiled at him knowingly, then her eyes went to Ciaran again as she finished off with the bandages. "After all, they knew I would trust Ciaran..." She said to give the black-haired tiefling the information he was lacking, then diverted her gaze to the redhead once more. "They just didn't know how well you've come to know him..." She told Jax now, purposely giving him an amused grin. Jax rolled his eyes.
A faint smile tugged at Ciaran's lips. He went to fetch some water and plunged some clean cloth in it, holding it then to Jax's forehead to bring the fever down.
"So you mean to say I'm distracting ?" he teased the redhead.
Jax immediately pulled his face away, gripping Ciaran's wrist and taking the cloth with his other hand to do it himself, pressing the fabric on his own forehead.
"Not in the way you're thinking, shithead." He retorted, feeling a bit too tired to argue properly like he would usually do. Lilith gave Ciaran an amused smile.
"Come on, lay down." She told the redhead now as she softly guided him to rest on the mattress. Jax sighed, a little annoyed with it all, not quite fully enjoying being taken care of like this. A part of him liked it, given it was just another excuse for him to get Lilith's attention, but the more prideful part of him hated being treated as if he was weak in some way.
Lilith got off the bed to throw the now bloodied gauzes away and put everything back in its place. Then, she headed to the bathroom for a moment. She still was covered in blood from slashing that bhaalist's neck, she almost had forgotten about it by being so focused on Jax.
So, she picked up a clean cloth and wetted it on the sink, cleaning her skin a bit.
When she came into the room, she noticed Jax had already closed his eyes, the antidote probably starting to take effect and making him feel good enough to fully relax. Ciaran, however, was still sitting down, still fidgeting with his pendant like he did before, almost lost in thought.
She crawled back on the bed, moving in between the two tiefling men as she always did, but especially today, since she couldn't lay on Jax's left side, since it was the wounded one.
"Let's get some rest." She told Ciaran as she reached out for him, waiting for him to lay down as well so they could properly position each other.
He lay down close to her, wrapping his arms around her. He let out a relieved sigh, reassured to have her safe and sound in his arms and comfortable feeling her this close. He closed his eyes but didn't sleep much, tormented by the thought of losing her that didn't leave him, tormented by his feelings and the pain in his chest reminding him she would never be his.
Come morning, he woke up first from the little sleep he had, looking at Lilith. He pressed a soft kiss on her cheek and got up, heading to the bathroom. He cleaned himself, washing all the blood and filth away. When he came back, both Lilith and Jax were waking up.
Almost immediately, Lilith's eyes darted towards the redhead, hovering over him as she placed her palm over his forehead. Jax furrowed his nose slightly, still not fully awake nor fully processing what she was doing, yet he allowed her to, slowly coming to remember what had happened the day before. He no longer had a fever.
"I'm fine, Lils." He spoke lazily with a small smirk, his voice a bit hoarse from sleeping.
"Seems like it." She smiled at him, moving her hand to his bandage and lifting it carefully, taking a look at the wound under it, which seemed to be looking better, the dark veins around it had disappeared, a sign that the antidote had worked. Ciaran's heart clenched in his chest at the sight of them. He should've been used to it by now, but... He wasn't. As close as he was with them, with Lilith, it never seemed as close as they were to each other.
Lilith gave Jax a quick kiss before she jumped over him, exiting the bed and finally locking eyes with Ciaran, noticing he had just taken a shower. Not a bad idea, given she still had some blood on her. She approached him on her way to the bathroom, placing a soft kiss on his cheek while Jax stretched out on the bed.
"Morning." She told him, giving him a small, calm smile. The bruises on her neck had become more apparent now, same as the bruises around her wrists and arms from being tied up tightly.
"Morning..." his fingers brushed the bruises on her neck. He was still blaming himself for not being around her to protect her from this. He shouldn't have left her side in the middle of the city.
"How are you feeling ?" he asked.
"I'm okay, Ciaran." She reassured him as her hand caressed his cheek. She knew him well enough now to know exactly what he was thinking, to know he was putting the blame on himself, like he always did. She was truly fine, they were just bruises, she had had worse wounds in the past, far worse.
"You going to shower?" Jax asked her as he sat by the edge of the bed. Lilith turned her head slightly in his direction, as they watched a wide grin spread across his face. "...Can I join?"
"No." Lilith told him with an ironic smile, turning a bit more. "I'd rather have a normal, relaxing shower."
"Oh, I'd help you relax alright..." The redhead teased. Lilith chuckled faintly.
"You take it easy today, tiger." She told him. "I won't take long." She added as she turned to fully face Ciaran again, giving his cheek another gentle caress before she headed to the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
Ciaran sat on the bed, fidgeting with his pendant. He was still thinking about how he almost lost her... He wouldn't be able to keep going if something had happened to her. Doesn't that mean he should at least... Be honest with her ? She deserved to know... How he felt. Even if he hated having any feelings for anyone, he couldn't just keep ignoring them all his life, even if he had hoped he could. He was terrified of admitting it out loud, but he had to, now.
"Jax..." he turned to face him. "I have to... I'm going to tell her how I feel about her."
Jax turned his head towards him slightly, his eyes quickly scanning his expression while his own formed a frown.
"...What?" He let out, almost as if he had to make sure he had heard him correctly. Tell Lilith how he felt? He had not considered this scenario up until just now. In truth, he didn't want to.
Ciaran took a deep breath, as if saying those words was taking all his strength.
"I... love her." he paused, slowly realizing what he just said. He hated it so much. "She deserves to know."
Jax clicked his tongue with annoyance as soon as Ciaran confirmed what he dreaded he would, looking away from him and getting up from the bed, giving him his back. He couldn't be serious, surely. It was already bad enough to have to share Lilith with him. To enjoy her presence and her body like he had done for many, many years on his own... But to love her, just like he did? Her love was meant for him. Only him. Was he supposed to share that now, too?
He turned his head slightly before he spoke, his fists clenching tightly.
"What are you trying to do...?" The redhead questioned, his tone starting to get a bit harsher as he spoke. "What do you expect to happen once you tell her that, huh?" He asked him as he turned to look down at him, his red eyes shimmering. "It won't change anything, you know that, right?"
Ciaran looked away, swallowing hard. "I know." He knew all too well who Lilith loved, he saw their deep connection every day. He would never be a part of it. He knew it. He fell in love with the only person that would never feel the same way as he did.
"Then why the fuck would you want to tell her?" Jax questioned as he crossed his arms now. If he could manage to stop this from happening, he certainly would. "You knew the deal." He reminded him. "Lils likes you, sure... But she is mine. She has always been mine." He chose to say.
What he truly meant to say was that Lilith loved him, and he loved her. More than anything. And the mere thought of somebody else sharing that same love with her made his chest ache in a way that made him boil with anger.
He could not blame Ciaran for loving her. Hells, he understood that better than anyone. But this whole thing made his head reel with many questions, many possibilities he didn't want to deal with, ever. Because he knew Lilith well, better than anyone, in fact. Better than Ciaran knew her for now. She was the only reason Ciaran was with them in the first place, so he was fairly certain he knew how she felt about all of this.
What if she... No. She wouldn't. She would never.
He shook his thoughts away before he spoke again.
"You're wasting your time."
"...Yeah. Probably." He was right, for sure. There was no point in telling her. Maybe it would even make things worse. Maybe she wouldn't want him around anymore. He stood up and grabbed his scimitars, heading out without looking at Jax. He walked through the forest, his heart tearing up in his chest with each step. He didn't even know what to do to feel better. Probably nothing would shake the feeling off. He sat by a spot he recently liked by the river, dropping his weapons next to him. He wished nothing of this would have ever happened. These... feelings. Now he couldn't even bring himself to stay away from Lilith. What would be the point without her ? What would he be doing ? Thinking about her from afar would be even worse than being close to her. Even if seeing Lilith and Jax everyday was so painful... At least he got to be close to her.
Lilith was now out of the shower, staring at herself in the mirror, a bit foggy from the heat of the water, but still visible enough to see herself. The bruises on her neck were definitely very visible. But as she stared at her own reflection in the mirror, the bruises were not what were bothering her.
She could still hear his voice. Bhaal. She could remember his words. She almost could still feel his presence, even after their bond as creator and creation was severed. She would never be truly free of him, would she? If the Lord of Murder, a god, sough after her death, how could she hope to have a normal life?
What would have happened if Ciaran didn't have an antidote for Jax? Would she have lost him? All because he came to save her. What if Ciaran had gotten wounded too? What if she had lost them both because of this... curse. This cursed life she had no matter how hard she tried to escape it.
The thoughts gnawed at her mind, where they would stay as long as she could keep them. She didn't want to worry Jax and Ciaran, she had done more than enough already.
She took a long, deep sigh before she exited the bathroom, immediately noticing Jax was alone in the room.
"Where's Ciaran?"
"He left." Jax let out almost nonchalantly. But Lilith caught the slight hesitation in his eyes, the way they darted away from her as if he feared she'd see right through them. And she did.
"Jax, where is he?" She insisted now as she approached him.
"Don't know. Don't care." He shrugged as he crossed his arms over his chest, his red eyes locking with hers as he tried to keep a firm stare this time. "He didn't like what I had to say, so he left." At his words, Lilith clicked her tongue. Not this again.
"...What did you do this time?" She questioned with a frown.
"I didn't do anything, Lilith." The redhead snarled softly, bothered by her accusation, even though he was aware he hadn't been the nicest to the other male tiefling. "Why do you assume it's my fault?"
"Because you're the one picking up fights whenever you can." Lilith retorted firmly. Jax had to hold down another snarl, his lip twitching with annoyance.
"You're too soft with him." He argued, looking away. "You're making him say stupid shit."
"What stupid shit?" Lilith wondered, her hands going to her hips as she waited for his answer. Jax shifted uncomfortably on his spot. He had overspoken, he didn't want to talk about this. He didn't want her to know this. "Jax." She said firmly, urging him to talk. The redhead growled.
"He started talking about his damn feelings..." Jax finally told her, rolling his eyes as he finished his sentence. "Told him it was a waste of fucking time."
Lilith stayed quiet for a moment, her eyes widening ever so slightly as she listened to him. Feelings? What feelings, exactly? Ciaran wasn't one to talk about his feelings. Hells, he barely ever accepted having any, much like Jax. And if she knew Jax as well as she believed she did, this didn't have to do with him. This was about her.
"...I'm gonna go find him." She stated with a tired sigh as she started heading for the door.
"Leave him be." Jax sighed with annoyance. "Why do you care?"
"Because I do." Lilith replied harsher than she intended as she turned back to look at him. Jax frowned. "....Stay here and rest, please." She spoke softer now, regretting her previous tone immediately, turning towards the door and opening it.
"Lilith." Jax called her. Despite his bad temper, he didn’t want her to leave feeling upset with him. She stopped on her tracks, waiting. "I..." He struggled for a moment.
Lilith wasn't sure what Ciaran and him had talked about, but she knew it had to do with his feelings for her. Jax likely shut him down immediately, hurting him in the process. Knowing Jax, he probably feared the implications of it, even if he would never admit it.
"I understand." She told him before he could say anything. "Don't worry." With that, she exited their makeshift home.
She had a vague idea of where she could find Ciaran. He had told her about a spot near the river, somewhere new he wanted to show her. She walked through the thick forest until she noticed a clearing in the distance, leaving the forest behind as she spotted the river. She looked around, finally noticing Ciaran's figure sitting under a tree. His gaze seemed... lost.
"Ciaran..." She called out to him softly as she approached.
His heart skipped a beat at the sound of her voice. Why was she here? Why her? Why now?...
But his face was stoic as he turned to her, getting up.
"Lilith?... Is everything alright?" His tone was soft like always with her, but firmer than usual. He had to bury everything inside again.
"I should be the one asking you that." Lilith continued speaking softly and calmly, a faint, knowing smile on her lips as she got closer to him, her hand reaching out for his arm.
She knew this conversation wasn't going to be easy for either of them. Even if she had become more open with her emotions, she still struggled, and she knew Ciaran struggled even more.
Ciaran stared at her wondering, had Jax said anything to her ? His heart twisted painfully. He scanned her face, trying to know. What would happen if she knew ? He didn't want to go away- to be away from her. Anything but that. His fingers ran over her arm softly.
"I'm alright." He was far from that. Images of her with Jax weren't leaving his mind, reminding him she would never be his. She would never love him. He would never have what they had. And he hated this, hated himself for feeling like this. He wanted everything to just go away.
Lilith had come to know him, and know him well. He was far too similar to her not to. She could see the pain in his eyes, even when he tried to keep a stoic expression.
"You don't need to lie, Ciaran." She told him bluntly, yet still keeping a gentle, soothing voice as her hand moved to his face now, cupping it softly. "Not to me, anyway..." She assured him. "Tell me what's wrong."
He didn't want to talk, didn't want to feel. He melted in her touch, this was the only thing that felt right. His hands moved on their own to Lilith's waist, pulling her closer as his lips crashed against hers, pulling her into a rough kiss.
Lilith immediately reciprocated. She knew what he was doing, avoiding talking about it, trying to distract himself from whatever feelings had him uncomfortable. She knew that trick well, she had used it before too.
They continued kissing for a bit, letting him find the comfort he needed before she pulled away, kissing his cheek.
"Ciaran, talk to me." She told him again, her hands resting on his shoulders. She didn't want to bring up what Jax had said, what she thought this was all about. She wanted him to express it himself, even if she knew it was hard for him to do. "You wouldn't have left if something wasn't bothering you..."
Ciaran sighed softly, he shouldn't have said anything, he should have kept behaving like he was always behaving.
"I... just needed to get some air. I'm fine." he lied. He was too scared of telling her, too scared of losing her. Jax was right, at best it wouldn't change anything. But at worst she wouldn't want him around anymore.
Lilith watched him look away from her, clearly struggling with his own thoughts. Stubborn man.
"Stop it, Ciaran." She told him more firmly, letting go of him now, which quickly caught his attention again at the loss of her touch. "I'm not a fool. Do you think I don't know what you're doing?" She questioned now, yet his eyes left her again, not daring to face her. She clicked her tongue softly. "Fine then, be that way." She said as she frowned at his behaviour, turning away. "As if one emotionally closed-off man wasn't enough..." She complained out loud as she started walking away.
He felt his chest tighten painfully.
"Wait-" he grabbed her arm, stopping her. "Don't go..." he wrapped his arms around her from behind, holding onto her like she was the only thing stopping him from falling apart. "I just... I can't lose you..." he held her tightly. "I can't..." It was the first time he was showing himself so vulnerable around her. That mattered little now. If he let her go, he knew he'd lose her for good.
Lilith's hands went over his arms, tightly keeping her in place.
"Ciaran, if this is about what happened yesterday..." She spoke softer again, trying to understand just what he was thinking. "It wasn't your fault. You know that."
Had he gotten so scared yesterday that he now feared something would take her away from him? Was that what this was all about... Or was there something else?
"No, it's..." He closed his eyes tight, putting his forehead against her shoulder. "Lilith..." he tried to look for the right words, but there wasn't an easy answer here. "I... am in love with you." he kept holding her tight, afraid she'll run away from him now. "I know how you feel about Jax... I know you two are... I know you love each other." Each word felt like daggers twisting through his heart. "But I love you. I tried not to but...It's just like trying not to breathe."
Lilith stayed quiet for a moment, letting those words sink in, her eyes slightly widened. Her hands stopped caressing his arms as she thought, a bit frozen in place. This was what he was so terrified to tell her. This was what made Jax shut him down. Of course. It made so much sense now.
"I'm sorry..." he added, in a barely audible voice.
When she heard him apologize, it made her react.
"Ciaran..." She called him as she turned around in his arms so she could properly look at him. "Why are you sorry?" She asked, her hands moving to his face once more. "You didn't do anything wrong..."
"Because... It's going to change everything, isn't it ?" he placed one of his hands on hers. "Why would you still want me around ?..."
Lilith couldn't contain the sad frown that formed on her face.
"...What are you talking about?" She asked him. Why would she NOT want him around after that? Stupid man. Did he really not realize? "Ciaran... I love you too." She told him, then chuckled dryly. She almost couldn't believe she was able to say it so freely. But it felt easy when it came to him and Jax. "Dumbass..." She called him, though her way of saying it was far softer than how the redhead tiefling usually used that nickname with him. "Do you know how hard it is for me to trust someone else? To allow them to truly see me like you and Jax have?" She questioned, trying to make him understand how stubborn he was being. How needless it was for him to worry so much. "I wouldn't be here if I didn't love you."
Ciaran blinked, looking at her, trying to process her words. "You...do ?..." He spent so much time thinking it was a one sided love he hadn't even considered this was a possibility. It didn't feel real right now. His heart beat faster as he kept replaying her words in his mind.
"Of course I do." Lilith told him as she caressed his face. "Why would I not?" She questioned, trying to make him realize how ridiculous the situation was. "You've done nothing but care for me all this time… I'm not made of stone, you know?"
It took a moment for him to realize what was happening, and even then, he wasn't sure it was real. He cupped her face with one hand, like touching her would prove him she was real. He tilted her chin up, gently pressing his lips on hers. He could feel her warmth- she was there, she was real, and she loved him back.
Lilith moved her arms to surround his neck, gladly reciprocating the kiss. Deepening it, even.
She knew their situation was... Complicated. She had two men who loved her, and she loved them right back. She didn't want to think about who loved the other more or better, that didn't matter. All that mattered was that they were all in agreement, even if there was the occasional tension between the two male tieflings.
The idea that Ciaran thought she didn't care for him all this time gnawed at her mind. That he thought she would quickly discard him if he dared to feel anything for her. She should've been more clear. She wouldn't make that mistake again.
She pressed herself even closer to him, her fingers tangling in the back of his dark hair as they continued kissing.
A small content sigh escaped his lips. He tried to push away his feelings for so long. It felt so right to be with her, to touch her, to love her, to feel her warmth. His fingers traced along her ribs to her waist, holding her close, deepening the kiss. His lips parted a bit more, asking for more access, and his tongue went and caressed hers when she granted it.
Lilith moaned softly into the kiss, letting herself melt into it for a moment as their tongues danced around each other. When they pulled away, both of them almost breathless, she stared at him for a moment, at the way he looked at her. The love and need in his eyes.
Then, suddenly, she pushed him back, making him stumble and fall on his ass to the ground.
"Idiot." She told him as she leaned down, crawling on top of him until she was on all fours hovering over him, her hands at each side of his head. "Didn't think I'd have to prove anything to you..." She spoke calmly, yet almost as if she was reprimanding him for his doubts. Her bright white eyes shimmered mischievously. "...But I guess I'll have to make sure you won't doubt me again."
One of her hands traveled down his body, slowly caressing him over his clothes in its path down. She lowered her face to kiss his cheek, then his jawline, then his neck, biting down on it at the same time as her wandering hand started caressing over his crotch.
He groaned softly, his dick getting hard as soon as she started caressing over his crotch. He tilted his head on the side, giving her full access to his neck. He slipped his hands under her clothes, tracing his fingers on her hips.
Lilith shivered slightly as he made contact with her skin, leaving kisses and bites all over his neck, using her tongue to soothe the marks she left behind, making him groan. She stopped caressing his crotch momentarily as she worked on lifting his shirt up and off of him, her fingers caressing his chest and abdomen before her hand returned to its previous spot, feeling the very obvious bulge that had grown in size rather quickly, as she went to kiss him again, roughly and hungrily, biting down on his lower lip as she pulled away.
Ciaran quickly pulled her dress over her head, tossing it to the side and pulled her again into an hungry kiss, his hands exploring her body, feeling each detail, each curve, each scar, teasing her, stroking the base of her tail a little before reaching her breasts. He caressed them a bit, gently twisting her nipples between his fingers while he broke the kiss and went to bite her neck softly. Lilith moaned softly at every touch and caress he gave her, biting her lip at the same time he bit her neck, letting out a pleased hum.
She quickly pressed him against the ground and away from her neck, lowering herself as she moved down, pulling his pants along with her, his dick springing free as soon as the fabric was off of it, already leaking precum.
She softly moved the palm of her hand over it, up and down, teasing him, her eyes watching his every move and expression, listening for every little sound coming out of his lips.
His hips arched as soon as she touched him, his legs instinctively parting a little bit more. He bit his lip trying to contain himself but he couldn't help little noises of pleasure escaping his lips from time to time.
Soon enough, her hand wrapped around him, moving up and down on him as she stroked him at a steady pace, her other hand caressing his body and her lips teasingly leaving soft kisses on his hips or around his thighs, close to where he wanted her, but never close enough.
Each stroke sent a wave of pleasure in his body, but the teasing left him wanting more. He groaned, his whole body eager for more.
"Fuck, Lils... stop torturing me..."
Lilith smiled as she heard him, her hand movements continuing as she got dangerously close to where he wanted her.
"Fine..." She let out before finally taking him into her mouth, her tongue swirling around his tip as she took him further, tasting him, humming at the feeling.
She moved up and down on him, using her hand to fully cover his length, her other hand still caressing his body, her nails softly scratching his abdomen.
Ciaran groaned louder, his fingers tangled in her hair. His chest was moving quickly up and down, his whole body filled with pleasant sensations. Feeling her tongue, the warmth of her mouth, it was driving him crazy. As she went, he started to feel the familiar feeling of warmth building in his stomach. His tail wrapped around her arm on its own.
"Lils, I'm close..."
But as soon as he said that, Lilith pulled him out of her mouth, raising her head up slightly to look at him.
"Not yet." She told him as she licked her lips.
She got up momentarily, pulling her panties down and discarding them near them, then lowering down on him once more, straddling him, her hands resting on his chest and her cunt pressing against his length while she simply sat on him, feeling him twitch under her.
She leaned down, kissing him again.
He hummed against her lips, reciprocating the kiss hungrily, his hands caressing her body and going down her cunt, looking for her entrance.
"I want you..." he whispered on her lips.
"Do you, now...?" She teased, giving him another quick kiss before she leaned back up, her hands caressing his shoulders and chest before she rested them there, her hips starting to softly rock back and forth, her cunt rubbing against his dick with each movement, making herself moan softly, yet not taking him in just yet. "Hmmm, I don't know... I'm not done torturing you just yet."
"Fuck..." he held her hips, tilting his head back as a deep groan escaped his throat. He felt like he was going to lose his mind, feeling her wet cunt moving against his dick, hearing her moan on top of him. A lot of precum was leaking, being as aroused as he was.
"I can't hold it for long, fuck..."
"That's too bad..." Lilith smirked, biting her lower lip as she looked down at him, only to increase her pace, leaning back slightly and placing her hands behind her, resting on his thighs now, her hips rolling and her wet cunt stroking him. She knew he wasn't going to be able to stop himself, and she didn't want him to either.
He held her hips tighter, burying his fingers in her skin. He was panting underneath her, curling his tail around her leg. He couldn't bear it anymore, the feeling of her slick cunt stroking him, the vision of her on top of him.
"Lils-" he groaned her name and came - a lot- between her legs. He held onto her tightly as he came, bruising her hips.
Lilith slowed her movements as he twitched and released under her, coming to a stop once she felt his body relax, leaning back down to get close to his face again, one of her hands caressing his cheek.
"My darling Ciaran..." She talked to him tenderly. "Did you enjoy that?" She asked, placing soft kisses all over his face.
He simply nodded, still recovering from his high. Once he did, he locked eyes with her, a mischievous spark in his eyes.
"Now..."
He flipped her over, finding himself on top of her now.
"My turn." he leaned down to kiss her, caressing her breasts again.
Lilith smiled into the kiss, humming softly as he felt him touch her. She was well aware they were nowhere near done yet.
Ciaran broke the kiss and moved to kiss her cheek, her jawline, her neck, biting it, sucking at her skin to leave love bites on his path before going further down, taking her nipple in his mouth. He played with it, twirling his tongue around it, slightly biting it, one hand on the other breast, while his other hand moved down to her cunt and started caressing her.
Lilith moaned, already far too aroused by what she had done with him moments before, knowing how wet she already was for him. She kept her hands on him, one tangling on the back of his hair as he moved down on her body, while the other went over the hand he had over her breast. Ciaran moved down again, biting and sucking at her skin, leaving a trail of marks on her skin, kissing her stomach, then kissing just above her cunt, to finally go down between her legs, licking and sucking at her clit, gently spreading her legs for better access.
Lilith moaned again, her back arching slightly at the pleasurable feeling, pressing against him to feel him even closer. She willingly opened her legs further, silently granting him more space to work on her, both her hands on his hair now, tugging unconsciously from it. She bit her lip as she looked down at him, the sight of him between her legs doing nothing to calm down her increasing arousal.
He hummed against her cunt, sucking a bit harder, determined to make her cum too. He looked up at her, drinking in every expression on her face, every sound she made. His warm tongue kept going over her clit, stroking her, while his hands slightly caressed her thighs.
Lilith threw her head back with a whine as he hummed against her sensitive skin, feeling that familiar sensation building up in her stomach, his tongue movements bringing her closer and closer to the edge.
"Ciaran... I- I'm-..." She struggled to say as he continued, making her moan again, her body instinctively writhing under him, her legs trembling as she reached her orgasm, feeling herself clenching and releasing.
He stopped when he felt her orgasm finish and kissed her body all the way up to her cheek, giving her a soft smile. He cupped her cheek with his hand, stroking her skin with his thumb.
"How are you feeling ?"
She took a second before she replied, catching her breath. Then, she let out a pleased sigh as her eyes fully locked with his.
"...Not done yet if that's what you're asking."
"Perfect." he said with a small smirk. He gave her a second to breathe, then kissed her gently, stroking her cheek lovingly. His hand went down to caress her body again, her cunt too, even though she didn't need more stimulation for how wet she was. Him neither, being hard again just by giving her pleasure. She whimpered slightly as he touched her again, feeling slightly sensitive still, even though she was very ready to continue and so was him, by the look of things. She surrounded his neck with her arms, pulling him deeper into the kiss, hungry yet lovingly.
He reciprocated the kiss as deeply as her, gently stroking her waist with one hand, the other holding his dick to her entrance, slightly rubbing the tip of it against her cunt, teasing her. He bit his lip, feeling how wet she was for him, and gently pushed himself inside her.
Lilith moaned into his mouth, pulling away from the kiss just slightly to look into his eyes, their lips still brushing, feeling him slide into her to his full length. She whimpered again, the feeling of fullness alone made her mind hazy, wanting him to start moving already. She pulled him closer against her, kissing his shoulder softly, then headed to his neck, where she bit down harder.
He groaned softly at the feeling of her cunt surrounding his dick on top of her biting, and started to move gently at first, then a bit faster, hungry for more.
Lilith's legs wrapped around his hips, pressing him harder against her, her tail also curling around his leg as he thrusted, feeling him as deep as he could go every time he entered fully, hitting that sweet spot that made her body tremble. She buried her face on the crook of his neck, moaning and whimpering for him, enjoying every little movement he made against her.
Ciaran gripped her waist more firmly, thrusting deeper and harder, a low groan escaping his lips as he did. Her cunt felt so good around him. He drank in every sound she made, making him lose his mind. He tilted her head up, eager to see her expression as he went.
Lilith locked eyes with him, and that almost sent her over the edge. The way he looked above her, with so much love and need in his eyes, mixed with every thrust and caress he gave her felt like she was going to lose her mind. Gods, how did this man think she did not love him was beyond her.
"I'm so close..." She told him softly, almost breathlessly, as she got closer to his ear to whisper. "...Harder." She moaned for him.
"Fuck..." Her voice only increased his arousal that was already at its peak. He granted her wish, thrusting harder. He felt her tightening around him, sending him closer to the edge.
"Fuck, I'm going to..." he moved faster, his hand going to her clit, stimulating her here as well. He pushed deeper inside her and came with a low groan, filling her with his seed.
Lilith writhed underneath him, moaning louder as he increased his thrusts and touched her, fully sending her over the edge, her legs shaking and her walls clenching around him as he came inside her. Her chest heaved up and down with exhaustion, but satisfaction coated her expression, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips as she panted.
"...Gods." She let out weakly, turning her head to place a kiss on his cheek.
He lay down next to her, breathless. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, kissing her cheek.
"God, you're amazing..." he said, one of his hands resting in her hair. Lilith let out a soft hum.
"You're not so bad yourself..." She teased, watching him smirk faintly. Her expression softened as she continued looking at him, her hand going to caress his face. "...How do you feel now?" She asked, but not referring to their recent activities.
He leaned in her touch, sighing softly. "I don't want this to end..." he replied, slowly coming back to reality. He held her tighter, resting his forehead on hers. For some reason, he was scared he was going to lose it all when they would go back home.
"Nothing's going to end." She told him, gently nuzzling her nose against his. "We're still all in this together... And I have no intention of letting anyone go." She tried to reassure him as her thumb softly caressed his cheek. "Not Jax. And not you either." She told him as she gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
He gave her a soft smile and kissed her tenderly. These feelings were all new to him, but for once, they didn't hurt. It felt good, even.
"I love you, Lils..."
Lilith smiled fully, her sharp teeth showing. It wasn't only the fact of him loving her that warmed her heart, but the fact that he didn't feel as scared about it anymore. It felt nice to know he was slowly opening up with her.
"And I love you too, Ran." She told him, giving him his own nickname.
He smiled at the nickname and kissed her cheek. He loved seeing her like this, he wanted to protect that smile at all costs. He buried his face in her shoulder, drinking in her perfume.
"Mh... Do we have to go back ?" He could stay like this forever, she was the only thing he needed.
"We should..." Lilith chuckled faintly. "Jax is probably not happy right now..." She pointed out. She could only imagine what was going through the redhead tiefling's mind right now. She knew he was probably waiting for them to return. For her to return.
"Yeah..." He gave her a small kiss on the cheek. "Should I go fetch an armor before ?" he joked, referring to the danger he was going to be in around Jax. He picked up their clothes, handing her her dress.
Lilith chuckled at his words as she took her clothes, starting to dress up.
"Let me handle him." She told him as she got on her feet and approached him, a small smirk showing on her lips. "I know my way around a stubborn man, after all." She teased, knowing her statement worked for both him and Jax.
He got dressed as well and looked at her with a smirk. "Yeah, Jax is stubborn." he said, leaving himself out of the picture. He kissed her softly, thinking he might as well enjoy it now to give Jax a break later. He laced his fingers with hers, starting to walk towards their place. "Come on, let's go."
Even though she had told Jax to rest before she left, Lilith was sure he wouldn't have slept a single minute. Not while knowing she was out looking for Ciaran. Not when he knew feelings were involved in their conversation.
As soon as she opened the door to their home, followed closely by Ciaran, she spotted Jax standing there, his arms tightly crossed over his chest, his eyes already focused on her. His expression was serious, a deep frown decorating his face. He had showered, his skin and clothes freshly clean, the bandages she had put on him now gone, his wound exposed but looking healthier.
For someone else, Jax might've looked fairly normal, just an intimidating man in general. But Lilith knew better. He was like a strained, tensed up bowstring, just about to snap. The moment she saw his eyes dart towards Ciaran, she knew things were going to move quick.
A deep, angered growl crawled from Jax's throat as his hand shot up in the other male tiefling's direction, grabbing at his armor as he pushed him against the door he had barely just closed behind him. His eyes scanned his appearance, noticing the red marks on his otherwise grey skin, bites and hickeys. His red eyes snapped towards Lilith beside them, noticing her bruised neck now had new red marks as well. His lip twitched with barely contained anger, turning back to Ciaran in front of him.
"...Happy, are we?" He snarled, the irony in his words barely perceivable through the fury. "Did you get what you fucking wanted, huh?"
"Jax-" Lilith called him.
"No!" Jax cut her immediately, making her frown. "I know what he's trying to do..." He told her, though his eyes were still on the black-haired man, shimmering with anger. "You're not taking her away from me. Ever... Do you hear me?" He told Ciaran directly now, his words thrown off like daggers.
"I'm not trying to take her away from you." he responded calmly. "And it's not her plan either." He put his hand on top of Jax's hand that was holding him, encouraging him to let go. "If you don't trust me, trust her."
Jax's eyes darted across his face, almost as if he was trying to figure out if he was being sincere or not, yet his grip didn't loosen quite yet.
"Jax." Lilith called him a second time, one of her hands reaching to touch his shoulder. This time, his head turned towards her, locking eyes. Lilith could see the deep frown in his face twitching, like he was unsure how to proceed, unsure how he should react. "Let Ciaran go." She told him softly, her other hand going over theirs now.
This time, Jax loosened his grip on Ciaran's armor, releasing him as Lilith guided him towards her, her hands tangling with his gently, trying to calm down the tension in his body.
"You do still trust me, don't you?" She asked him calmly. Jax shifted uncomfortably on his spot, looking away from her. He knew what he wanted to say, and yet, he hesitated. Lilith's expression turned into a small frown to match his own, realizing this really did affect him more than he let on. "Jax, look at me." She told him now.
The redhead locked eyes with her again, straightening up his posture as he exhaled through his nose. Nothing Lilith hadn't seen before. He was too prideful to show any vulnerability when someone other than her was in the room.
"... I trust you." He finally told her. "Only you." He specified, his eyes darting towards Ciaran for just a moment before they went right back to her. He couldn't trust him. Not fully. His mind wouldn't let him.
"I love you." Lilith told him, firmly and genuinely. "You know I do." She insisted as she watched his shoulders relax a bit at her words.
She let go of one of his hands to offer her hand up to Ciaran instead. The dark-haired tiefling hesitated for a second, unsure, but soon enough grabbed her hand, approaching them. Jax watched their every movement, trying to figure out what Lilith was trying to do.
"I would never leave you, or replace you..." She told the redhead now with a small smile, then took a look at Ciaran. "You both are important to me." She told them, squeezing their hands a bit, her gaze now lowering to the floor beneath them, her expression a bit more somber. "And I know this isn't fair for either of you... But I refuse to let either of you go. I can't." She confessed, her gaze rising again to look at each of them.
Ciaran gently squeezed her hand, locking eyes with her. "And you don't have to. I just want you to be happy, nothing else matters." his gaze moved to Jax and he struggled for a minute, not as willing to open up around him than around Lilith, especially with what happened last time he tried. "Look... I know how you feel." he managed to say. "But I know you want the same thing for Lilith. And I'm not stealing her from you, I am not leaving anywhere with her, she's still here, with you. She loves you."
Jax shifted on his feet again, clearly not comfortable with all this emotional talk. His face didn't tell much, his frown had remained the same for a while, so it was difficult to truly tell what was inside his mind. His eyes locked with Lilith's again before he spoke.
"Is this truly what you want?" He asked, his gaze softening slightly. "Because you know this isn't... Easy, for me." He pointed out. Lilith knew him well, knew how possessive he was. This was a struggle. "I would do anything for you. But sharing you... Not just your body now, but your heart as well..." His lip twitched at the mere thought of it, trying to contain how badly he wanted to snarl and rage.
"Jax..." Lilith spoke, letting go of his hand so she could cradle his face instead. "My heart is yours. It has always been." She reminded him, taking a look at Ciaran and giving him a reassuring smile before she looked at the redhead again. "I'm just asking you to allow Ciaran to care for it too."
She knew Jax wouldn't fully accept it, he needed time. Time to process and get used to things. Lilith knew he wouldn't leave her side, just like she knew she wouldn't leave his.
Though clearly still not fully happy, Jax let out a long exhale through his nose, relaxing a bit. Then, his bright red eyes landed on Ciaran.
"You better not fuck this up." He told him firmly. "There is not a fucking corner in any world nor dimension where I won't find you if you end up hurting her... I hope you know that, shithead."
"Right back at you, dumbass."
He slightly squeezed Lilith's hand, refraining from doing more, considerate of Jax who probably needed some more time to process everything.
"Now..." Jax let out slowly until he suddenly pulled Lilith towards him, pressing her against his body, one of his hands immediately going to rest on the base of her tail. "If you're both done being sappy... I think it's my turn to devour you." He told Lilith, his gaze immediately shifting into a more lustful one, except for when he looked back at Ciaran. "You, fuck off for a while." He told him as he gestured to the door with his head.
Ciaran raised an eyebrow. "Well since you asked so nicely..." He sighed. He tilted Lilith's head towards him and kissed her softly, pressing a last kiss to her forehead before giving her a soft smile and heading out.

“What the fuck Riley ?”
“Lorien just… listen to me…”
“You killed Orin and now you expect me to what, run away with you ?”
“Please.” she begged “I can’t stay here.”
“I don’t even recognize you anymore…” he said.
“Please… Please don’t do this to me. Lorien I… I love you…” Riley reached out to his hand but he pushed her away.
“Don’t fucking touch me ! I don’t care what happened to you, you’ve… changed.”
“Lorien…” tears welled in her eyes.
“...and now I must kill you.” he said, pulling out a knife from his belt, lunging at her.
Riley tried to dodge him but he pinned her against the wall. As he struggled to try and stab her, he managed to push the blade in her shoulder, making her scream in pain. She kicked him in the stomach and reached for her sword.
“Lorien, don’t make me do this, I’m begging you…”
“I don’t wanna hear another word from you, traitor !” He threw himself at her again but she was faster, placing her sword in front of her, so he pierced his own stomach with it. Riley watched him fall to the ground in horror, running to his side.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…” she kept repeating. She cupped his cheek with her hand as he coughed blood. “I love you, I’m so sorry…”
He let out his last breath and she stayed crying over his body for hours.

Ciaran had been watching her for a while now. Hidden in the shadows of the alleyway, he observed how Lilith moved through the streets- calm, confident, completely unaware that someone marked her for death. Or maybe she knew, and she simply didn't care.
He had received her name alongside a sum of gold -half paid up front- that was hard to ignore. He had received a promise too. More names. Names that could lead him to something. The details of why she needed to die didn't interest him.
She was finally alone, in an alleyway- usually, she was with a tall, red haired tiefling, that looked tough enough. He was pretty sure he could take him, but it wasn't worth the risk. He just wanted the rest of his gold- and to spill some blood, as it has been a while he didn't have a little fun.
He moved quietly and quickly, pinning her against the wall, holding her by the throat. She was holding a bag of coins, by the sound of it. Probably she was going to buy something before he came.
"Give me that." he said, taking the bag with his free hand, still holding her by the throat with the other. He locked eyes with her, a wicked smirk on his face.
"Any last words ?" he said. He liked to play with his prey from time to time.
He was expecting to be met with fear, maybe at least some worry. However, he didn't find any of it in her bright white eyes. As a matter of fact, he didn't find much of anything at all as she stared up at him, her expression was serious, yet exceedingly calm.
"Took you long enough." - She spoke nonchalantly, her voice was smooth and pleasant despite her demeanor. - "I was starting to think you had doubts."
Ciaran looked at her, a small frown forming between his eyebrows at the lack of emotion to her current situation. It was then, when he felt something cold and sharp against his chest. Lilith had somehow managed to react quick enough to grab her Bloodthirst dagger with her free hand, the tip of it pressed against his body, directly pointed up towards where his lungs were. If she actually managed to puncture one of them, he'd start bleeding out immediately, and while it was not instantly fatal, he'd have to get it fixed, or he'd be in trouble.
Ciaran's smirk got wider when he felt the dagger against his skin.
"Finally some fucking challenge."
He moved closer to her, not much, just so her dagger pierced very lightly his skin. "I never have doubts."
He let go of her- Killing her now wouldn't be funny. She looked like she could fight a little. He grabbed only one dagger, to be equally armed as her.
"Ladies first", he said, waiting for her in a posture ready to fight back.
Lilith moved away from the wall slowly and confidently, twirling the dagger in her hand for a moment as she watched the bit of his blood slide down the tip of the sharp blade. Her expression had remained the very same the whole time, not even a single twitch. Her eyes then landed on him, analyzing his fight stance, analyzing him. He surely was confident too, underestimating her. He had a few recent scars all over his body, a few different weak spots she could use. It was then, when she let out a soft, amused chuckle.
"Game on..." She let out, instantly lunging with impressive swiftness, yet choosing not to use her dagger yet. Instead, her leg rose up to kick his own off of his hand, then twirling to give him a second kick on the stomach, immediately pushing him to the ground below her.
He coughed, holding his stomach for a second. But he got up fast enough, lunging his second dagger to her face- which she avoided easily. She mirrored him, but he dodged too, barely fast enough, just so she would leave a small cut on his cheek. He threw himself at her, pinning her to the ground, raising his dagger, ready to plunge it in her chest. Though she dug her fingers into a recent wound on his waist, making him grunt in pain. She used the time he was distracted to roll to the side, standing up and kicking him in the ribs. He grabbed her leg just before falling to the ground so she fell with him.
Lilith grunted as she collided with the ground, immediately starting to tussle with him again, Ciaran's dagger cutting the side of her neck just a little, a mere scratch as she moved her head away.
She managed to make him drop the blade and reached out for her own, clumsily grabbing it just quick enough to stick it on his shoulder. Not deep enough, but enough to make him groan. She tried to sink the blade deeper, but he was holding onto her hand to refrain her from doing so. Then, her leg kicked again, this time hitting him square in the crotch, slashing at his shoulder as he recoiled and she pulled away, getting on her feet once more.
She took a couple of clumsy steps back from the sheer rush of her movements, when suddenly she felt a large hand on her shoulder, pulling her behind. The tall, red-haired tiefling Ciaran had seen with her before had arrived while they tussled, his greatsword already in hand, his red eyes shining with rage, and already taking a big swing at Ciaran as he was getting up of the floor, being fast enough to pull out his scimitars and cross them in front of him, successfully stopping the strike, the sound of metal clashing echoing the alley.
The red haired tiefling pushed hard on his sword and Ciaran did the same, wincing at the pain in his shoulder. He barely managed to make his attacker back off as he lunged at him again. Ciaran dodged his sword that was aiming for his neck and raised his hand ready to strike him- but he was faster, plunging his sword into the edge of his waist, pinning him to the wall. Ciaran instinctively reached for the sword with shaky arms, wanting to pull it out, but failing. He coughed blood when the other tiefling pulled it out, ready to stab him in the chest this time, but Lilith stopped him.
"Wait."
At her command, the redhead growled, immediately yanking his sword back, but not letting any seconds pass so Ciaran would even try to move, his free hand shooting forward to grab the top of his hair and forcefully push him harder against the cold wall, his sword still ready in his other hand in case he moved.
"Why!?" - The tall tiefling questioned Lilith's order, his voice deep and harsh.
"I still have use for him." She explained, her tone still calm despite the effort she had put into fighting him off herself, cleaning the blood off her dagger on her own pants. "We're taking him."
The redhead rolled his eyes at her words, but didn't argue further. Ciaran tried to move despite the pain in his waist, but all it did was make the other tiefling react, letting go of his head and immediately striking a powerful punch under his ribs, rendering him unconscious.
Ciaran woke up slowly, blinking and grunting. He was tied up, laying on the ground, somewhere he didn't recognize. He managed to sit up despite his binds, grunting and looking around him.
"Where the f-"
His eyes landed on the angry tiefling from before, Lilith at his side.
Fuck, he thought.
"Stay sharp, shithead." The redhead told him as he approached, immediately kicking Ciaran on the wounded side of his waist on purpose, making him recoil and groan in pain. A wicked smile quickly creeped on his lips, showing his sharp set of fangs as he reveled in the sight.
"Jax." Lilith spoke up firmly, finally revealing his name, her arms crossed over her chest.
"What?" He retorted. She gave him a small head movement for him to step aside, which he did, although reluctantly.
"Now..." She spoke as she got closer to Ciaran, crouching down in front of him, pulling her now fully clean dagger and swirling it around softly in front of him, to then stop and point at him with it. Once more, her expression revealed nothing. "Something tells me you won't cooperate willingly... But I wonder if it's worth it to you to lose a few limbs over it." She suggested, earning a faint chuckle from Jax.
"Fuck you." Ciaran groaned as he felt the warm blood running down his waist to his hips. He gritted his teeth, holding Lilith's gaze. Usually, he was able to get out of these situations easily, but he was tied up pretty well, wounded, and had no idea where he was. He wasn't going to give them anything though.
"...Just how I expected." Lilith shrugged.
In a swift movement, she sank her dagger into his thigh, twisting it slightly, causing him to groan loudly again. It only happened for a split second, maybe not even that long, but there was a small flinch in her expression as she did so, only to return to her stoic nature.
She left the dagger in his leg, knowing he was very well tied up, as she rose up her palm towards where Jax was, waiting for him to hand her something. A journal they had found while going through his stuff.
Ciaran was slightly trembling, his pain starting to be a bit too much for his body. He winced in pain, staring at the puddle of blood forming beneath him. His eyes, challenging, went back to Lilith- only to widen when they landed on the old journal.
"Don't fucking touch that !" he growled.
"Hm?" Lilith let out curiously, still unfazed. Jax chuckled once more. It was clear the journal was important to him, or at least had valuable information in it. "...That was stupid of you." She told him bluntly.
She shifted, fully sitting on the floor in front of him with her legs crossed as she opened the journal, taking a quick look over the pages, as Jax slowly moved behind her, taking a look at it from his standing position. It was full of different drawings and writings with a beautiful handwriting, which didn't quite suit his appearance.
As she turned over the pages, she noticed a drawing of himself, and her gaze rose to meet his for a moment. This journal wasn't his, not initially, anyway.
"Whose journal is this?" She asked him. Ciaran snarled softly.
"Fuc-"
"Fuck you, yeah, got it." Lilith rolled her eyes at him. She diverted her attention back to the journal. As she continued turning the pages, she noticed a change in the handwriting, a bit sharper and inconsistent. She assumed this was his.
"Now, what do we have here...?" Jax broke his silence, being the one to crouch down now, his tall figure still looming over Lilith as he paid closer attention. There were maps and a list of different names, some scribbled over, some underlined. Lilith's name was also there, though written in the middle of a page as if he noted it down quickly.
Ciaran gritted his teeth, struggling against his restraints. His vision went blurry from the blood loss for a moment and his gaze seemed distant for a minute. He blinked a few times and brought his attention back to them. He couldn't die yet, he still had unfinished business.
"Good luck figuring this out..." he said, confident but his voice a bit weaker.
Lilith gave Jax a look he seemed to understand immediately, getting up to his full height and walking to Ciaran, only to strike him with the back of his hand right on the face, his head fully turning to the opposite side from the collision, wincing and blinking a few times.
"Eyes open." He told him, moving around him so he could crouch down behind him, grabbing his face to keep his focus on Lilith, his other hand going to her dagger on his thigh, twisting it just enough to make him squirm some more. Ciaran tried to fight a little, but he was far too weak right now, he barely moved under Jax's iron grip. "Let's see that poker face, jackass." He mocked him.
"Pay attention." Lilith told him now, her eyes going over the small pool of blood forming under him. There it was again, for just a second, a flicker in her eyes... Until she shook it off. "I only care to know who sent you after me." She continued talking nonchalantly. "So be a good boy and nod when you hear it, yeah?"
She was sure he wouldn't do so, but she didn't need him to. She started reading the names on his list, one by one. The scribbled, the unscribbled and the underlined.
Nothing. He wasn't budging for the first few, his eyes locked on her, filled with anger. Her eyes went back to the journal, looking at one of the underlined names.
"Gennyil Saurgleam." She pronounced. She wasn't sure if it was familiar or not, too many people wanted her dead by now. But there it was. A small flinch, a slight furrowing of his brows. Her head rose proudly. "Good."
"Got what you were looking for?" Jax asked her, unable to see Ciaran's face properly from behind him. Lilith got on her feet again. "Can we kill him now?" He asked next.
"And how the fuck do you find him without me ?" Ciaran said through gritted teeth. "'Bastard's never in the same place."
He wasn't afraid of dying. But the idea of dying with unfinished business was pissing him off. He stared at Lilith, hanging onto the tiny hope that they could need him. Lilith stared right back, pensive.
"Lils?" Jax named her, trying to figure out what she was thinking, impatient. "Say the word and I'll break his neck." He stated, almost preparing himself for it already. Just a confirmation from her and Ciaran would no longer be an issue for them.
"No." She let out.
"What?" He immediately complained, letting go of Ciaran out of pure surprise at her words, pushing him to the ground as he got on his feet and got closer to her. "Why the fuck not!?"
Lilith didn't answer him, moving past him and crouching in front of Ciaran once more as he tried to sit up again. She pulled her dagger out of his thigh, making him groan, the wound immediately gushing blood.
"Get me to him." She told him, her hand now pressing on the wound. Whether it was to stop the bleeding or to hurt him further, it wasn't clear. "I can pay you double... And you get to stay alive."
"Lilith." Jax tried to complain.
Ciaran let out a small laugh.
"Gold isn't enough. You can't give me what I need, only fucking Saurgleam can." He didn't have a plan after that. Well, his ideal plan was -now that she was close- lunge his knee in her stomach, grab the knife between his teeth and somehow cut through his binds. But that was a distant dream given his condition... When he was done contemplating his unrealistic plan, he sighed and closed his eyes, ready to accept his fate. He was too weak and tired to fight any longer.
Lilith stayed crouched down, putting her legs together and resting her elbow on them, the hand holding her dagger now also supporting her cheek as she looked down at him, her expression still calm. She almost would've looked adorable like that if it wasn't for her overall appearance and the bloody weapon in her hand. Her other hand could barely contain the amount of blood coming out of his leg, making the pool under him bigger. He was paler than he was before, sweating. His eyes didn't open back up. Any longer like this and he'd surely die.
Jax growled behind her.
"Not nearly brutal enough..." He complained once more, crossing his arms over his chest, clearly annoyed at how things had gone.
"Get the cleric." Lilith spoke, her eyes still locked with the man on the ground.
"The hells I will."
"Do it."
Ciaran woke up the next day, groaning from the pain he still felt everywhere. Though, he had some colors back in his cheeks, and his wounds were bandaged. He instinctively wanted to hold his hand to his waist but one of his hands was still restrained. He sat up for a moment, confused, then remembered.
"Fuck." He let himself fall on his back again, sighing.
Jax was outside the cell, his back resting on the cold stone and his arms crossed over his chest. His head slightly turned in the direction of the cell as he heard him wake up.
"Finally..." He growled lowly, moving away from the wall and turning to take a further look inside the cell, his bright red eyes shining in the dim torch lights of the dungeon.
He said nothing else as he started walking away, only to return soon after, walking beside Lilith, yet getting ahead of her to open the cell door and let her through, closing it behind them.
The redhead stayed by the door as she stepped a bit closer to Ciaran, taking a look at the wooden bucket of water they usually had in all the cells, as well as a wooden cup, though purposely placed too far away for anyone chained down to reach it. She reached down for the cup and dunked it on the bucket, approaching the pale tiefling closer and offering the water to him.
"Now... Where were we?" Lilith asked him with a relaxed sigh.
Ciaran sat up as soon as he heard the cell door opening.
"Good morning to you too." He growled, looking in her eyes, not touching the water and trying to analyze her current mood. "How long was I out ?" he asked, trying to situate himself in time.
"About a day." She shrugged, taking a good look at him, his clothes now covered in dry blood and many, various bandages. "You barely made it, but I have a decent cleric..." She shook the cup of water softly, giving him one last chance to take it. "You must be thirsty, and I'm not going to get you healed up just to poison you."
A day... He probably knew where Saurgleam was today. But he didn't really believe in his chances to bring him back Lilith's head anymore.
"I don't give a shit." he said, slapping the cup with the back of his hand, watching the water spill on the floor.
"If you care so much about my well being then let me go."
Lilith didn't even flinch, dropping the now empty wooden cup on his head, her expression not faltering as it bounced off his head almost comically. Then, she crouched down like she had done the day before, keeping a safe distance between them and resting her head on her hand once more.
"It's not your wellbeing I care about." She stated. "I want Saurgleam... And judging by what you said yesterday, so do you." She pointed out, given what she offered him was not good enough. She slightly leaned her head to a side, curious, as she continued looking at him. "If I leave you here to rot, you won't get whatever it is you want..."
"This is not a good idea..." Jax let out from behind her, his voice low and growly. Lilith's head only slightly turned to listen to him, but then focused back on the young man in chains.
"I could easily send him to track Saurgleam down." She continued talking to him, referring to Jax. "Maybe it'd take him longer, but he'll find him." She said, confident about her partner's abilities. "And when he does, the man dies, and you get nothing... You understand that, don’t you?"
Ciaran clicked his tongue, moving closer to her -the closest his restrains allowed him to-, locking eyes with her.
"Well if I die here I won't fucking care anymore, will I ?" he sighed and glanced at Jax, then back at her.
"How do I even know you won't try to kill me when you get what you want ?"
"This is fucking stupid..." Jax snarled as he got closer to them. "Let me kill him, there's no point in letting him rot. He dies, now." He stated firmly next to her, yet still waiting for her command. Lilith got up and placed a hand on his chest, locking eyes with him, trying to get him to relax. Then, she looked back at Ciaran.
"You're right." She admitted casually. "Just like I can't be sure you won't try to kill me again if I release you." She pointed out, putting an emphasis on the word "try" on purpose.
Jax rolled his eyes, getting extremely impatient with this whole situation, which he would've ended a long time ago. It made no sense to him to keep Ciaran alive. They already had a name, he could work with that.
"I'll leave now, find Saurgleam myself." He told her now. "I'm the best tracker you have."
"Yeah, but he already knows where he is." She pointed out. Now they were almost acting as if he wasn't even there. "And the longer you take, the higher chances that more will come to try and claim the reward on my head."
"Let them try..." Jax snarled softly at the idea. Lilith brought one of her hands closer to her face, one of her fingers pressed over her lips as she thought about something.
"A blood pact." She let out.
"Absolutely fucking not." Jax argued immediately. Lilith turned her attention to Ciaran again, now both her and Jax towering over him.
"You lead me to Saurgleam. You get whatever you want, and then we get to kill him." She proposed to him. "And we promise not to try and kill each other again." She added to it as she smirked for the first time, her hands now resting on her hips.
Ciaran raised his eyebrows, genuinely surprised by her suggestion. It could work. He would have what he wanted, he wouldn't get to kill her but, maybe he could help kill Saurgleam. A life was a life, blood was blood. It was all the same to him. He'd be alive and free.
He thought about it for a minute.
"....Fine. You let me talk to him first then I don't care what happens to him." he glanced at Jax then back at Lilith. "He's part of the pact too or the deal is off." he said, not taking any chances.
Jax chuckled at his words.
"Smart, I would've killed you as soon as we got Saurgleam." He admitted with an evil grin.
"Sounds like we have a deal." Lilith stated.
A couple hours later, the two bhaalspawns returned to the cell with one of their wizards. The man was fully cloaked, his face barely visible except for his nose and mouth, which was surrounded by a dark long beard. They all approached Ciaran at the back of the cell.
"Up, shithead." Jax told him as he forcefully grabbed him to make him stand on his feet, not really caring if his body hurt or not. Ciaran winced, pushing him away with his unchained hand as he stood, then going to touch his still injured waist.
"Right, so..." The cloaked man spoke, clearing his throat. "As willing participants, you three agree on working together to find this man... Saurgleam." He tried to recall, having been informed by them earlier. "Get whatever it is you need from him." He told Ciaran specifically. "And then, kill him." He gave Lilith and Jax a look, and they nodded. "Should any of you fail or refuse your part of the bargain, whether by trickery or slaughter, you shall suffer a slow, painful death." The wizard finished announcing the stipulation. "Do you all agree?"
"Yes." Both Lilith and Ciaran said almost in unison. Immediately, everyone's eyes went to Jax.
"Yeah, yeah..." He said lazily. "Let's get this over with."
The cloaked man sneaked his hand into his long sleeve, pulling out a small knife. The three of them each offered up one of their hands, their palms upward as the man slit each of them, neither of them really reacting to the sensation at all.
The firsts to shake on it were Lilith and Ciaran, their eyes locked as their hands touched, their blood mixing together. Then, Jax was next, his handshake firm as he squeezed hard on Ciaran's hand, still trying to threaten him despite the pact.
The cloaked wizard spoke in a language none of them understood, sealing the pact with his spell.
"It is done." He told them, giving Lilith a respectful nod, which she reciprocated, allowing him to leave.
"Right." She sighed, gesturing for one of the guards to enter so they could set Ciaran free.
A large, bulky man approached, keys jingling on his hands as he unlocked the heavy shackle on Ciaran's wrist, letting it fall to the ground.
Ciaran rubbed his sore wrist, sighing. He looked down from his tall size -now that he was standing- at Lilith.
"How do we get out of this fucking place ?" he asked.
He stepped out of the cell, slightly limping at his first few steps, because of his thigh injury. He found his scimitars lying in a corner and immediately went to pick them up, checking them to see if they got damaged.
"Come on." Lilith told him as both her and Jax started heading out of the dungeon.
They had to go up quite a few stairs but, finally, they reached the main floor of the Bhaal Temple, as dark and ominous as it always was, the halls decorated with skulls and different statues dedicated to the Lord of Murder, as well as some bodies strung up here and there by the residents of the temple, freely allowed to do as they pleased to please their god.
Lilith and Jax walked calmly ahead of Ciaran, fully confident now that they knew he'd risk dying if he tried to break their pact at all.
After a silent walk across the temple, they reached one of their many secret exits, pulling the stone covering it to a side so they could step out into the wilderness.
"Alright, where are we heading?" Lilith asked Ciaran, her hands resting on her hips.
"Is Saurgleam even in Baldur's Gate now?" Jax questioned.
Ciaran squinted his eyes when the sunlight hit him, used to the dark temple they came from.
"Yeah, but a bit far. This way." He moved ahead of them, purposefully colliding hard his shoulder with Jax's on the way and getting a growl from him in response. They walked through the familiar streets, Ciaran occasionally glancing at Lilith. He walked closer to her.
"So... What did you do for someone to want you dead ?" he finally asked.
Jax's eyes immediately watched him from the other side of Lilith, very attentive of what he did. Even if he knew he wouldn't fight, he didn't like him near Lilith.
"Killing is usually what people remember most." She spoke nonchalantly, still looking forward as they walked, not at him. "But the list is quite long..." She added, not really going into much detail. Why would she, after all. "...How long til we get there?"
He didn't reply, pretty much indifferent to what she said. Though he was intrigued by her, or at least to why she didn't immediately kill him at their first encounter like Jax wanted to do. She did want to know who sent him... But he also could've been just some random murderer targeting her.
"Half an hour, at least." he replied.
"...You fought well." he added, a few minutes later, his eyes set on the road ahead. Lilith scoffed, but kept walking in silence.
He didn't ask more questions, just walked silently, not looking at any of them anymore. After a long time, they were finally close, so he warned them : "He likely won't be alone. Are you ready ?"
The serious expression Jax had kept on his face through the whole way here suddenly changed into a wicked smile.
"Finally." He growled with excitement.
"How many? Do you know?" Lilith questioned, a bit warier, but her expression still showing little emotion. She preferred to have all the information before she barged in, unlike Jax.
"I have no idea", he said, a similar smile as Jax's showing on his face as he drew his scimitars, swinging them in his hands as he moved forward, soon kicking the door of a tavern. His eyes scanned the room, searching for Saurgleam. As soon as they landed on him, he lunged at him, pinning him against the wall, a dozen of men drawing their weapon as a result.
"Hello again."
"What the-"
"So." he started, holding the edge of his blade at the man's throat.
"Our deal is off. You're just gonna tell me what I want to know."
The man gritted his teeth. "You little b-" Ciaran slashed his lips with one of his scimitars, smiling wider. "Now, if talking's too painful, point." He grabbed a map from his pocket, holding it in front of the man's face.
While Ciaran dealt with Saurgleam, some of the men with him went for Lilith and Jax, fully aware of who they were. Lilith pulled out both her red daggers now as she twirled them mindlessly, while Jax already had his greatsword in hand, as he swung it around to strike and cut one of the men almost fully in half as soon as he got close enough, immediately getting splattered with blood. He clicked his tongue at the audacity.
Lilith moved swiftly as always, dodging and striking whenever she needed to, her expression focused. She was well aware she was Saurgleam's main target, so his men were also more focused on getting to her than to Jax. However, the redhead tiefling wasn't making it easy for them, his sword swinging everywhere, slashing and piercing everyone, breaking chairs, tables around the tavern as he struck down, as well as throwing people around by sheer strength alone.
The trembling Saurgleam didn't take long to break, finally pointing somewhere on Ciaran's map. Ciaran sighed.
"If I'd known it would be this easy, I wouldn't have gone through the stupid trouble of this fucking contract." He grabbed the man by the hair, turning back to Lilith and Jax who were fighting the other men.
Three men had managed to pin Lilith to the ground while Jax was busy with others, raising their dagger above her, ready to strike. Without really thinking about what he was doing, he threw Saurgleam on the ground and lunged at the men, plunging his scimitars in two of them and kicking the other violently to the side. He held his hand out to Lilith, for her to take it if she needed help to stand back up.
Lilith took his hand, letting go as soon as she was on her feet, her eyes staring at him with a small, confused frown. He had just helped her. Probably even saved her life.
As Jax took down the remaining of Saurgleam's men, his body fully covered in blood now, Lilith and Ciaran noticed Saurgleam himself trying to crawl away as sneakily as he could between the dead bodies of his crew, almost getting to the tavern door, when suddenly... Jax's greatsword sank into his shoulder, almost sticking him to the floor beneath him, and making him cry out in pain. Jax was above him, one of his feet on his back as he stepped on him, keeping him in place.
Lilith approached as she sheathed her daggers, and the redhead immediately pulled his sword away harshly, Saurgleam squirming and groaning on the ground as Jax pulled him up from his clothes and brought him up against the wall, Lilith now standing in front of him.
"You bitch!" Saurgleam screamed at her, his voice breaking a bit by the pain he was feeling. Lilith wasn't fazed at all.
"Not doing yourself any favors." Lilith pointed out, shrugging at him. Then, she turned to look at Ciaran. "Did you get what you wanted?"
"Hold on." He stepped closer to Saurgleam, punching him violently in the stomach. "That's for the fucking trouble I went through." He moved back.
"All yours", he told the other tieflings, crossing his arms on his chest, ready to enjoy the show. Saurgleam groaned, but then, he started chuckling softly.
"You don't know who you're involving yourself with, boy." He told him, his eyes going to Lilith and Jax. "This one?" He gestured at Jax, who immediately snarled at him, still keeping him against the wall with one hand. "Crazy bastard killed more people than any of us can count in our lifetime..." He stated, his eyes going to Lilith. "And her?" He chuckled faintly again. "Nothing but a monster. An abomination..."
Lilith's expression was as serious as always, but for the third time since Ciaran had encountered her, her eyes twitched for a second, and so did one of her hands, quickly closing it into a fist.
"Watch it, old man." Jax growled, hitting him against the wall again, making him groan faintly.
"Or what? You're going to kill me anyway." Saurgleam pointed out, his wounds covering his chin and shoulder with blood. "Sacrifice me in the name of your damned Lord of Murder... Isn't that right, Chosen of Bhaal?" He asked Lilith, but she didn't answer.
"You're not even a worthy sacrifice for our lord." Jax barked at him. "But I'll still enjoy watching you die." As he spoke, Lilith unsheathed her Bloodthirst dagger, her eyes scanning the bloodied blade.
"You're cursed, child." Saurgleam told her now, knowing his end was near. "The Murder lord will not save you. You're even more doomed than the rest of us."
Lilith's expression made a slight frown. In a second, her wrist moved harsh and swiftly, slashing his neck open, blood immediately gushing out of the cut and from his mouth. Jax let go of the man, his body immediately crashing against the wooden floor of the tavern, his blood pooling on it.
Ciaran raised an eyebrow, looking at Lilith. Bhaal huh... Well, that explained the whole gloomy temple. Though, he couldn't care less. He didn't care who worshiped who. He hesitated for a second, pensive, then gently pressed Lilith's shoulder, as if he wanted to comfort her, earning a glare from Jax. Then he crouched next to Saurgleam, going through his pockets to pick up any gold left on him. He stood up and took a look at his map, tracing the path from where they were to the place Saurgleam pointed to.
"Hm. Well, that was fun, but I have things to do." he said, heading out.
Jax and Lilith walked behind him, exiting the tavern right after him. The redhead looked around, already losing the little interest he had in this particular mission, now that it was over.
"Hey." Lilith called out to Ciaran before he went too far, watching him stop and turn his head. "What's your name?" She asked. She realized they didn't even ask him that, and now she was a little curious.
Ciaran hesitated for a moment. Technically, they weren't really enemies, despite their first encounter. He didn't care, and neither did they.
"...Ciaran." He revealed it to them. Lilith gave him a faint smile.
"Thank you then, Ciaran." She told him, earning a questioning look from Jax, who crossed his arms. "You may have saved my life back there..."
He gave her a small nod, still not knowing why he helped her. But it didn't matter now, it was done.
He walked away, ready to go and spill more blood.
Ciaran ran into some trouble. He was running through the streets of Baldur's Gate, looking to lose the people who were running after him. They were too many for him to just kill them all. He saw a familiar street, and remembered going through this one a month earlier with Lilith and Jax. It was the one hiding a secret entrance to Bhaal's temple. He hurried into the street, feeling the walls to find the entrance. Soon, he found it, just in time before the men arrived and ran inside, stopping to catch his breath. But he was met with two swords. He looked at two men, Bhaalists, holding swords to his neck.
"Shit." he let out.
"Who are you and how did you find this place ?" they asked.
He reached out to his scimitars but they were faster : One punched him in the stomach and the other kicked him to the ground, soon tying his hands behind his back. They pulled him up on his feet and led him through the vast temple to a room he had not seen before, with an altar and a huge skull statue symbolizing Bhaal, the Lord of Murder.
"We found him wandering around the temple." they told someone Ciaran didn't see yet, until she stepped closer into the light. Lilith. They kicked his legs so he would kneel before her.
Lilith's eyes widened ever so slightly in recognition.
"You." She let out, her expression as stoic as always, but confusion etched into her tone as she took a few steps closer, looking down at him. "What are you doing here, Ciaran?"
He took advantage of the two Bhaalist looking at her to swipe them off their feet, standing up and knocking them unconscious with a kick in the face, his hands still tied in his back.
Lilith couldn't be surprised in the slightest just from what she had seen of him before, leaning down to pick up his scimitars from the Bhaalist who took them from him before Ciaran could. She teasingly swirled them around in her hands, pacing around him like an animal circling a prey.
"I'll ask again." She sighed, but she was still calm. "What are you doing here?" She asked, pointing at him with one of his own weapons.
“Fancy meeting you here.” he sighed, pausing for a second. "...I just needed to hide and I was around..." He said in a more serious tone. He stared at her for a minute, pensive. "Wait."
She and Jax, with their skills, could actually be useful to him.
"You owe me." he smirked. "That day in the tavern. Remember ?"
"How could I forget...?" She said, her tone coated in irony, lowering the scimitar as she kept pacing around him slowly. "But I don't recall owing you anything... You saved me, yeah. But I did also patch you up before that, remember?"
He looked at her in disbelief.
"Yeah, you patched me up because YOU fucked me up."
"Your own fault, really." She smirked, twirling one of the scimitars again, entertaining herself. "You came to kill me, or have you forgotten that part?" She reminded him as she stood in front of him now.
"Not my fault if everyone wants you dead, Bhaal princess." he said, watching her play with his scimitars. He didn't like anyone other than him touching them. "And I think we're even on that since you almost killed me." He stepped closer to her, looking down at her from his tall height. "I saved your life."
She chuckled faintly at his audacity to give her some kind of nickname. Since his hands were still tied up, she wasn't too concerned with him being this close to her. She knew he could still try to attack anyway, but something told her he wouldn't. He seemed to be in need of her help, after all.
She closed the distance even more, testing her theory, keeping eye contact with him.
"...What do you want?" She asked, her voice was as firm as it always was, but it held just a little bit of playfulness in it.
"I need to kill a bunch of people." he said casually, holding her gaze. "Kind of... a whole temple." he smirked, visibly amused by the situation. "But small." he added.
Lilith's calmness didn't falter as she considered his words, thinking. Depending on which temple, she could interfere or not. There were still some alliances she needed to hold.
"Which deity's devotees did you piss off, exactly?" She questioned, wanting to make sure first.
He analyzed her, her calm posture despite what he just told her.
"Shar, I think." he slightly struggled against his binds to remind her of his condition. "Care to untie me ?"
Lilith looked down at his hands as he purposely reminded her. Not that she wasn't aware. She hummed humorously, considering.
"What is he doing here!?" Jax's voice echoed the chamber they were in, his growly tone immediately catching their attention as he approached in the distance, going down the sets of stairs to the altar area they were in. Lilith instinctively took a step back knowingly, because in a matter of seconds, Jax was already grabbing Ciaran by his clothes with an angry snarl. "They told me someone got in, didn't think you'd be this fucking stupid." He barked at him.
“Jax, he’s not even armed, let him go.” Lilith pointed out as she still held Ciaran’s scimitars in her hands. "Don't fucking touch me." Ciaran growled, sending his knee in Jax's stomach.
Jax recoiled with an angry grunt, letting him go, yet immediately punching him on the face.
"Alright-" Lilith had to step in between them as they were about to go at it again. "That's enough." She said firmly, pointing each scimitar at one of them. Jax tried to contain another snarl, his lip twitching, yet his body language relaxed with her. "He's not here to fight with us." She told Jax now.
Then, she turned towards Ciaran, cutting his binds, then offering his scimitars back, putting her trust in him despite her wary nature. Ciaran took his weapons back, inspecting them despite knowing Lilith had done nothing to them. Quickly, his eyes went to Jax, but his thoughts were interrupted.
"Hit him again and all you're getting from me is a quick death." Lilith warned him this time, her expression harsher now. Jax sent him a smug smile behind her.
"Then keep him on a leash." Ciaran replied. If a gaze could kill, Jax would probably be dead by now. The redhead chuckled though, unimpressed.
"What? Scared to get a brand new scar?" He mocked him, his head gesturing at the now fully healed scar on his waist, from when he attacked him about a month ago.
"I said enough, Jax." Lilith spoke even firmer now. Jax crossed his arms over his chest, clicking his tongue and looking away. "He's asked for help against some Sharrans." She told him. "I owe him."
"No you don't." He argued immediately, a full frown on his face.
"He saved my life at the tavern." She argued back. "...Isn't that worth something to you?" She questioned, very aware of the answer. Jax shifted uncomfortably, knowing she had got him. "Good." She let out, turning to look at Ciaran again. "We'll help you."
Ciaran sighed, deciding to stop looking at Jax because he knew they would just piss off each other again.
"Then let's get out of here." he said in a softer tone when he looked down at Lilith. He led the way as he knew the way out now. "Small temple or not, there's still a lot of them. But I believe we can take them." he added, thinking about the three of them- including Jax. Maybe he didn't like him but he had seen how he fought. He stepped outside without looking at them, knowing they were following.
After a bit, Lilith glanced at Ciaran.
"So... Why are they after you ?"
He looked at her with a faint smile.
"Curious, Bhaal princess ?"
"Princess?" Jax immediately snarled, his arm surrounding Lilith's shoulders. "Don't get familiar." He warned him possessively.
"Yes." Lilith simply replied to Ciaran, not bothered by Jax's reaction at all. "Though judging by the choices I've seen you make so far, I assume you tried to kill someone you shouldn't have..." She teased, referring to their last encounter.
Ciaran completely ignored Jax, but was proud to have annoyed him.
"Killed, yeah." he corrected. "His fault, he pissed me off." he said casually.
They kept walking for a while under the moonlight, silent now, with only the sound of their steps echoing around them. When they got there, a few people were outside of the temple- they killed them first, taking them by surprise.
Jax was the first to kick the temple's door open, his sword in hand, ready to spill some blood. Ciaran followed, swirling his scimitars in hands, then Lilith. There were about thirty people there.
"You !" said one of them, walking to Ciaran.
Ciaran didn't give him time to say anything else, plunging one of his scimitars in his chest. Jax and Lilith lunged at the others, fighting several of them at the same time. Ciaran stayed close to them, fighting side by side with them. One of them stabbed Lilith in the shoulder and she removed the dagger with a grunt, slicing her attacker's throat with it. Quickly enough, the room got silent, the ground covered in corpses, and the three tieflings covered in blood, out of breath. Ciaran noticed Lilith's shoulder injury and asked : "Are you okay ?" but Jax ran to her, pushing Ciaran to the side.
"Let me see." Jax told Lilith, his hands gently holding onto her arms. His expression was serious, but his eyes seemed to have softened far more than what Ciaran had ever seen before. His usual harsh, angry demeanor was gone.
"It's just a cut, we both know I've gotten far worse injuries." Lilith reassured him with a calm yet caring expression while he still inspected the wound closer anyway. Lilith winced slightly when he lightly touched the damaged skin.
"I keep telling you to stay behind me." Jax reminded her. "You know I can cover you." He was complaining, but his usual snarl was nowhere to be seen, there was only concern for her.
"And I keep telling you that I don't need to... I'm fine." Lilith brushed it off. She truly was fine, it wouldn't take too long to heal. "Now..." She turned her attention to Ciaran, and once she did, Jax's demeanor changed again, his expression hardening as he looked at the other tiefling as well. "Is that everyone?" She asked him.
Ciaran was staring at Jax, baffled by his change in attitude. So there was something else to him than just pure anger and aggressive behavior, he thought.
"Yeah... I think so." he blinked, looking back at Lilith. He sheathed his scimitars, heading for the door, stopping at the entrance.
"Hey... If you're both okay..." he included Jax in his speech for once, "Let me buy you some drinks."
Jax frowned, opening his mouth to reply to him, but his lips were quickly covered by Lilith's hand as she gave Ciaran a small smirk.
"Sure, why not?" She said.
Ciaran gave her a small smile and they stepped out, heading for the nearest tavern. They spent the night there, drinking and talking with each other.
As it turned out, Ciaran and Jax weren't all that different at all, even if Jax's behaviour was far harsher. They had found somewhat of a common ground, -as fighters-, in their bloodthirst. Or perhaps it was the alcohol helping them relax a bit more.
As for Lilith, she figured out she enjoyed Ciaran more than she thought she would. He seemed pretty similar to them in a lot of things. Perhaps it hadn't been such a bad idea to let him live, after all.
