editor's note: what I find so interesting about this, is that we always have the shot of seeing joel looking at his watch, without it being the main focus. it is never zoomed in nor is it ever highlighted otherwise. it's something personal joel does. we maybe don't even think about sarah before we see him look at his watch. we don't think of her, but joel does. in the last shot though, we look right at the watch. we can't not see it. we see it very, very clearly and when we as the viewer finally do, that is when joel doesn't look at it. now we think of sarah, there is no way we can't think of her.
