Are there BDSM relationships without sex? Would it be called something else?

Sure! I’m a huge believer in the relationship having what the participants want. There can easily be bondage, dominance, submission, sadomasochism, all that, and not require sex. And, as I’ve just used the parts making up the acronym BDSM, then it can still be called BDSM.

You have the right to participate how you want to participate. As a Dom? Sub? Switch? No problem. Do you just want to be tied up for an hour for the feel of it? No problem. Do you want someone to kneel before you? No problem. It’s all a question of making sure that you and your partner both want the roles for yourselves and each other. If you don’t want sex in there, you can choose no sex. If your partner requires sex and you don’t want it, get a new partner. You’ll both be happier in the long run. 

There is nothing wrong with wanting what you want. There is only wrong with forcing others to give you what you want, without first confirming that they want to give it to you, too.
