Letting Go
by beth
You think that you know me.
Believing I would never leave.
Every time you put aside,
I waited for you to come back to me.
You thinkI am not strong enough.
Not confident enough.
That I love you so much I cannot let go.
You are wrong.
I have the strength.
I am confident in who I am.
And although I still love you,
I have grown to love myself more.
So this time I will not be waiting.
I know there is more out there.
I am letting go.
My favorite ship dynamic of all time, ever, is a little something I like to call anxiety x audacity
Examples:
Saw a post like this with negative outlook so I asked for it to be fixed
discussing literature with my coworkers today and one of them began ranting about how they hated the secret garden, because it was so dark and macabre, and too many awful things happened to the children, and the incest was a step too far.
DEEPLY bemusing and perplexing until our manager asked if they meant flowers in the attic, which they, in fact, did.
The graveyard book is shamefully underrated
I don't know. It won the Carnegie and Newbery medals, and the Hugo and Locus Awards, among others. So someone must have rated it.
As a writer, what're your tips on writing transition scenes (such as walking from one place to another, the process of a long walk, or eating dinner) where there isn't immediate conflict? :)
I don't think conflict is necessary, but whatever you are doing does need to advance the story. Otherwise it's what old TV shows used to call "shoe leather". It's the shots showing the hero walking to the next place that they realized very quickly they could lose and nobody would ever complain or notice: your brain fills in that the characters got from point A to point B.
i've seen you swear many times, and yet im still surprised when it happens. maybe you should say fuck more often.
Just curious now, after watching the video, @neil-gaiman, did you randomly choose to say maybe a semicolon now? Or do you know of the meaning of a semicolon tattoo?
Weak Words
by beth
Words can be so weak
They fail as you try to explain your loneliness and pain
Wanting to cry out for help
But they turn to dust in your mouth
Throat constricting
Tears filling your eyes
You look down and utter “I’m okay”
Maybe tomorrow the words will come.
For now, words can be so weak
No More
by beth
No more deception
No more excuses
No more “white lies”
No more you and I
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane Review
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane review by Robin Elliott @gohbelfast @OceanOnStage #OceanOnStage
It’s always good to see The National Theatre in Belfast and once again they didn’t disappoint. It was well deserved standing ovations all round at the opening night of the thrilling, magical, fantasy, adventure – The Ocean At The Lane Of The Lane. Running at Belfast’s Grand Opera House all week this spectacular show from the imagination of Neil Gaiman has to be this year’s must see production. I…

I was really surprised to know that Caligula was the ruler during the year Crowley and Aziraphale were in Rome! (Sorry, not caught up in my Roman history) No wonder Crowley was in a bad mood. Caligula was an absolute nutter!
We wound up cutting the dialogue about what Crowley and Aziraphale were in Rome to do, in the edit. I don't honestly remember why we cut it, I liked it.
I still hope we will see it someday :)
(I very much recommend the Script Book :))
Just thinking about the @guardian Tumblr. Untouched since 2019, like the tomb of the pharaohs. Did the person with the password leave? Did the person at the Guardian who knew that the Guardian had a Tumblr get sent off on a journalistic mission from which they never returned? In years to come will people on Tumblr examine the @Guardian site to try and reconstruct how mainstream media outlets existed on social media in the trump years?
Worth
by beth
People and situations change,
sometimes you have to let go of what you hoped for.
It is not that you failed,
it is allowing yourself to move forward.
Hold onto yourself.
Believe in yourself.
You deserve happiness,
so you will find it.
Search for who or what makes you feel special,
and do not except anything less.
You are worth it.
Winning
by beth
I thought I had lost when you chose her,
I was wrong.
“Losing” implies I missed out on something valuable.
I have not.
I thought life without you would destroy me.
I did not.
Living without the lies and manipulations, is the prize.
I have won.
Lie
by beth
Keep lying to me
I will never believe you,
So, go ahead, lie.
