ok letâs talk about the the dramaturgical explanation for the robby piss scene.
the bathroom is an important setting in the pitt. it is an emotional safe haven that lets us into the true mental state of the employees of PTMC.
in season one, large swaths of heatherâs storyline unfolds on the bathroom. her pregnancy and her miscarriage both are revealed to us in that setting. we also have robbyâs smaller breakdown occur there in season one as well. the use of this setting continues into season two. we are shown trinityâs self harm scars, and we are also shown danaâs breakdown.
this is the place where they donât have to be health care providers. using the bathroom is a very private, personal, human moment where your guard is down. they use this bodily need as a dramatic device in season one to show how robby is repeatedly interrupted on his was to pee. this fundamental human urge is more of a luxury to him than a necessity.
in season one, we get to follow robby into the bathroom. we get to see him relieve himself physically and emotionally. he relaxes/collapses and we are privy to it all in that first season, because we are in his head. we are getting his flashbacks as well.
in the beginning of season two, we have the door slammed shut on us. we donât follow him into the bathroom. we donât get flashbacks. we arenât allowed into robbyâs innermost thoughts anymore. he is pushing away the viewer as much as he is pushing away everyone else. he is shown in a harsher, less sympathetic light.
then in this last episode, after having his walls chipped away at by so many different characters, we follow him into the bathroom once more. we are back in the place to see his humanity, his vulnerability.
the voices continue on in the background though. he is still being called on to help people. itâs still shot differently than the way his bathroom scenes were shot in season one, but weâre let in again.
thereâs been an incremental shift within robbyâs headspace over this last episode. he not in the place where he can tune out the pitt, heâs not in the place where his humanity is being respected by himself or others yet, but he is different than he was earlier that day. less resolved in the distance heâs been attempting to put between himself and everyone else.
so yeah, us seeing him pee means something. thereâs a yellow elephant in the room.
REALLY need a fic where Jiang Cheng travels back in time (most delicious if it's during sunshot) and he realises that the only way to fix things/save people is to finally give in to playing his shidi card!
Jiang Cheng is the picture of âI knew from the moment I met you that Iâd spend a lifetime forgiving you.â
Likeâstart with the dogs. The only gift his father ever gave him, and Jiang Cheng gave them away. Why? Because Wei Wuxian was scared of them. Thatâs it. No resistance. No conflict. Just: oh, youâre afraid? Theyâre gone.
That is the blueprint. That is the foundational dynamic. That is the relationship.
His father resents him, prefers his shixiong. His mother tears him down for not being his shixiong. His sister, bless her, loves both of themâbut itâs Wei Wuxian who gets the hand on the shoulder, the soft words, the shared wine. And yet. Jiang Cheng never once chooses bitterness over devotion.
He loves him. Thatâs the tragedy. Thatâs the rot. Because he never stops.
Wei Wuxian gets dragged into the Burial Mounds and comes back fundamentally altered, and Jiang Cheng still believes in him. Still gives him room to return. Still duels him instead of executing him outright, still spares him even when the sect is watching. Still tells Jin Ling to be kind to him. Still keeps Chenqing in perfect condition, like a grave he refuses to let crumble. Even when Wei Wuxianâs choices leave him hollowed out. Even when all he has left is silence. He still carries him.
And the thing isâJiang Chengâs sacrifices are quiet. He never says them. But we know. We know that when he was captured by the Wens, he let himself be caught. On purpose. Because if he didnât distract them, Wei Wuxian wouldâve died.
We know that when Wei Wuxian said, âI can fix this,â Jiang Cheng believed him with his whole heart. And when Wei Wuxian smiled that soft, golden smile, and said âDonât worry,â Jiang Cheng didnât. Because when your entire world is falling apart, and your brilliant, impossible shixiong tells you he has a planâyou believe him. Thatâs what love is.
And when he disappeared? When he died?
Jiang Cheng never believed it.
He said there was no proof. But it always read like something else to me. Like: âIâd know if he was gone. Iâd feel it. Heâs part of me. I would know.â
This man spent years believing he murdered the person he loved most in the world. And he still couldnât bring himself to throw the flute away.
Tell me thatâs not love. Tell me thatâs not the worst kind. The kind that doesnât die even when it should.
thinking about sense8 again
and i really just wanna share nomi's pride speech from episode 2 for the people who haven't seen this show (or for those who just wanna watch it again), because it's been almost a decade since this came out and it's still so beautiful and resonant
(and for those who haven't seen it, this is a character who is a trans woman, written by a trans woman, and played by a trans woman)
Things One Piece is about:
Piracy
Adventure
The power of friendship
Fighting against oppression no matter what form it takes, be it a corrupt king, rival pirates, or a system of government that controls the whole world
The only way to make a change when stuck in a situation that's actively taking away your freedom and rights is by force
Racism and discrimination are complicated issues that cannot be solved over night, it takes a combined effort to reach an understanding and to change people's views, and even if you can't let go of your own hatred because of the horrible things you've experienced, you shouldn't pass that hatred onto the next generation and instead allow them to form their own opinions through their own lived experiences
Freedom and liberation are basic human rights
Everyone, no matter who they are, should have access to food and water
Healthcare should be readily available to anyone who needs it
It's incredibly important to not only learn, but understand and preserve history, because those who seek power will go out of their way to destroy inconvenient information, erasing the stories of those who no longer have a voice, dooming society into forever repeating the same mistakes without ever learning from them
Children shouldn't suffer because of the actions of their parents
Queer people

Imagine if the system post-canon let Xiang Fei and Shen Yuan access the internet. They are allowed to use social media and take photos within reason else the system blocks the post from being uploaded.
Shen Yuan posts photos of his paintings, posts his poems, scenery from Qing Jing, writes scathing reviews, musical pieces, catches up on old web novels, ect
Xiang Fei posts new web novels under the same name, better than his old one with Shen Yuan's editing help, binges as much anime as he can, maybe researches indoor plumbing
Maybe the system lets them share it with their husbands, Luo Binghe begs Shen Yuan to post photos of his food too, which Shen Yuan would have been a little too thin faced to eagerly photograph like he wanted until then.
Mobei-Jun creates fancy ice sculptures for Xiang Fei to show off, towering things depicting battle
The pidw fandom is confused, the number one hater neet PeerlessCucumber actually lives like a monk? Like a xianxia made real? A talented artist and scholar with a doting husband that posts divine recipes on his profile with pictures?
AirplaneShootingThroughTheSky has a husband too?? He made that sculpture? Okay it looks sick as hell
If, somehow, Binghe was able to threaten the system into letting Shen Yuan post photos of them as well, the internet would go wild. PeerlessCucumber and his husband are gorgeous? AirplaneShootingThroughTheSky and his husband are too??? They're friends!?
Okayokay but all I can think of now is if they made a video and Shen Yuan called Xiang Fei by his actual name in it to which, Airplane is like âbro no you canât give them my real name, bro itâs basic internet safety!!â And Shen Yuan shrugs with a reply, âwhat are they going to do, read our obituaries?â
And you would think, because the system said within reason, that this wouldnât upload. Except, the system is a bitch (as we all know) and it thought it would be funny to post this. And now the internet has questions.
While it's not the focus of the book, Wei Wuxian as a queer character means so much to me. Literally summoned as an avenging spirit to mete out justice for a gay man's death. He's willing to put up with all sorts of verbal abuse but the second someone gets homophobic in his general vicinity it's on sight. And he doesn't know why. He went through the first twenty-odd years off his life clueless about any kind of sexuality and completely bluescreens when someone so much as holds his hand. He has a reputation as a deviant freak. He hears a story about two men founding their own family line before both dying tragically and it makes him really depressed for some reason. Two of the biggest crashouts we see him have on page he describes as "losing control" and the first one is him accidentally murdering a dude with ghost magic and the other one is the first time he slept with a man. He swaps makeup tips with women he meets on the side of the road. He gives the remains of a dead man to the one man he knows loved him in life and leaves the decision of what to do with the corpse purely up to his partner. He tries to run away from it all and live peacefully with his chosen family and when society doesn't let him do that he decides to burn it all to the ground. "When you're on their side you're a strange hero, a unique knight-errant, a force to be reckoned with who's in a league of his own. But the second you voice an opinion that differs from theirs, you're a maniac, immoral, a deviant who shuns the orthodox path." He spent his life being hated, being vilified, was literally killed for trying to live his life and be happy in a community he built himself. Only to come back, look at the world a few years later, and realize he wasn't even special. That it was never about him, it was just about having someone to hate. He cannot burn himself up and take all the hatred of the world with him, so he might as well live and be happy.
The only time in the whole series he directly acknowledges his sexuality is when he's wondering if being gay is contagious via blood necromancy.
I absolutely adore the way MDZS treats and talks about the concept of revenge. It says "Yes, getting payback on the things that hurt you is actually a stellar concept. In a vacuum. However, there is no true and quantifiable way to actually equate one evil deed to another, making the entire quest for revenge pointless because you will have no way of knowing when justice was actually met." Xue Yang killed dozens and tormented Xiao Xingchen for years, all for the sake of a lost finger, and still ended up unsatisfied, and all our hero has to say is why didn't you just take his arm and call it a day. Jin Guangyao taking the very neat, methodical approach to eliminating everyone who ever wronged him but by the time he gets there he gets taken out by another revenge seeker before he can even bask in it. Jin Ling wanting so so bad to hate everyone involved in his parents deaths but finding himself utterly unable to because they're all just messed up people and now he has to live with the fact that he's an orphan and that's just that. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian hiding their good deeds from each other because they know it will just complicate everything even more and further muddy who was the wronged party. That one cultivator who goes on a hate filled tirade talking about how he's going to avenge to death of his parents and Wei Wuxian just replying "My life already sucked so bad, what more do you want from me?"
You can never have revenge. The world is too big and messy and you'll never just get the pure, satisfying moment of feeling like all your problems are solved because you harmed someone else. Purely because by the time you get there some unseen factor will be added to the equation and it suddenly won't count.
When Jiang Cheng was born, Jiang Yanli thought she was being given the prettiest new doll, and was devastated when she found that she couldn't carry him around or take him to bed with her at night. In consolation, she was allowed to make 'soup' by stirring a slice of lotus root in water, and Jiang Cheng was 'fed' that for dinner.
When Lan Wangji was born, Lan Xichen threw his first and only tantrum because his family tried to take him away from the baby to eat and sleep. His mother, who had not managed to muster much enthusiasm or affection for baby Xichen due to the circumstances of his birth, was so moved she begged that he be allowed to stay with her as long as Wangji was in her care.
When Wen Ning was born, he once nearly rolled off the bed. Wen Qing, barely a few years older, found him hanging precariously from the edge and went screaming for her mother. Baby Wen Ning was put to rights and Wen Qing was greatly praised, and thus she took up the mantle of being her brother's keeper.
When baby Nie Huaisang was born, Nie Mingjue was much older, and knew everyone expected him to resent the brother borne of a woman who replaced his mother. But Huaisang's mother was kind to him, had let him touch her pregnant belly to curiously feel the baby's kicks, and now she bade him gently sit by his new brother, who too had her eyes and her quiet, giggle-ish face, and he knew he would guard him forever.
When Wei Wuxian was born, far from Yunmeng in a modest home, his parents lamented that he would not know Jiang-xiong's children, who surely would have been such great companions for him. They vowed to give him a brother or a sister, for the world is lonely, especially for wandering cultivators. It was never the right time though, until seven years later, an orphaned Wei Wuxian is taken to their Jiang-xiong's home, and the Yunmeng trio was born.
I know I'm basically a fandom account, but I recently went to a traditional dance festival and did my own makeup â„ïž and I'm really in love with how my eyes turned out, And this is literally my only social media platform, so I have to share it here.
One Piece has really made me appreciate how fucking good and necessary a wide age range is for an ensemble cast.
If it was a crew of 10 teenagers weâd have run out of ways to switch up character dynamics a long time ago. Things would feel same-y and far less charming than what we have now, which is a crew consisting of five way-too-ambitious dudes in their late teens and early twenties, a fifteen year old who everyone treats like a baby cause he still has a spark in his eyes, two criminals in their early-to-mid 30s who despite being more mature still let the teens do whatever they want for their own joy and entertainment, a dude in his mid-40s who doesnât realize that quitting his current job to go on a world tour with a 19 year old he just met ABSOLUTELY counts as a midlife crisis, and an old man so old he DIED. I love you Strawhat Pirates.
Shen Qingqiu was in the bamboo house finishing his reports (secretly reading the terrible yellow book he confiscated), when one of his disciples knocked on the door.
The poor boy looked very nervous, stammering his greeting, so Shen Qingqiu sat him down, got him some calming tea and let him calm down before asking why he came all the way here.
Turns out the boy was not actually a boy but a girl. And only just now gathered the strength to confess this to his shizun.
Now, Shen Yuan is a modern man, he knows trans people are a thing. He personally never met any, but he understands the basic concept. And honestly becoming a girl just raised his disciples chance of survival in this nonsense porn novel by 100 percent.
And as luck would have it Shen Qingqiu has the perfect herb. You see, there was a plot in PIDW (which was not just Mulan ripoff, no sir) about a wife drinking a tea made from roots of a special plant to become a man to take her fathers place in a war.
In that plot Binghe quickly realised that something was up with that particular soldier (despite not having a reason to interact with common foot soldiers as an emperor) and had her drink a tea made from the blooms of that same plant, which turned her back into a woman. Que a quick wedding and some terrible papapa (not a particularly popular wife, though Shen Yuan personally quite liked her, at least before she got absorbed into the harem).
Shen Qingqiu just so happens to have this exact plant growing in his personal garden. It was interesting okay? He needed to study it and you never know when it might come in handy. So he just hops to the garden gets some blooms and makes sure his disciple knows how to prepare them correctly.
He also makes sure the disciple gets new proper robes and that there is a place for hi-, her in the female dorm.
He also schedules a check up on Qian Cao. He then gives the disciple a long lecture on various issues he might encounter in her new body. From periods (if the pain is worse than just mildly annoying, go to the healers), to creeps (to be dealt with extreme prejudice), to a new center of gravity (actually a big problem when it came sword flight). His meimei complained endlessly to him about all the inconvenient things about being a girl so he had a lot of advice. He also goes into a lot of detail about the special tea itself.
The taste, the effects, how long the change will take. He makes sure to emphasise how important it is to be careful with cultivation, because new body means new spiritual veins that could get damaged or cause qi deviations.
Shen Qingqiu sends the girl away while patting himself on the back how well he handled that. The disciple leaves fully convinced her shizun is trans. There is a big debate whether he was born a woman. Or worse if he was born a man and now uses the tea frequently to change back and forth from his true form as a woman to that of a man, to not lose face for the sect.
It causes all sorts of rumours and Binghe gets to have a little crisis about potentially misgendering and assuming things about his shizun.
Gothamites collectively and unconsciously deciding that Batman is in part an actual bat mainly because that guy canât physically be human and what guy would dress up like a bat and fight crime, thatâs kind of dumb. So Gothamites just attribute different bat attributes to Batman, the Bats and Robins which really weirds out outsiders. Gothamites believe:
The Bats must be be part female bat because in most species of bat, the mother bat raises the young alone which does fit since if you ask Batman, each of the Robins and Bats are his pups that he carried himself.
The Bat can recognise his young just by sound or smell, even in total darkness which Gothamite parents assure their kids who are worried Batman might mistake them as a Robin and take them away by accident. Confirmed by Batman.
Batman isnât a vampire bat but wonât say no if you got a little fruit or beef jerky on you.
That all the Robins can sing very well but only do so when the sun is coming up. Robin II has the voice of a choir boy even if he was singing AC/DC. Robin IV whistles really well and will mimick song from other birds in the area.
Robins migrate sometimes, thatâs why in the winter you might catch a glimpse of them in Bludhaven.
The Signal is sighted more often during the day because as he protects the territory while the others slumber safely in the nest.
Robins should not be offered chicken as it is a fellow bird and Robin nuggets are considered cannibalism. One or two Robins have been known to eat worms but the Bat yells at them to stop showing off for civilians
Robins are territorial even with other Bats. Robin V was seen shoving Red Robin when Red Robin tried to appraoch Nightwing.
There is some sort of nest/roost that the Bats and Robins sleep, they donât know about the Cave but they picture a dark and gloomy but warm comfortable place where the Robins and Bats curl up in the warmth of torn up capes and bones of stray rogues.
Manbat is the deformed distant cousin and is not affiliated with the Bat.
And this is just so ingrained in the Gotham mindset that they donât even consider the truth or how weird it sounds.
Metropolis Guy: You canât tell me that you actually believe that Batman is part bat. Thatâs ludicrous.
Gothamite: But he is tho
Metropolis Guy: Heâs literally just some weirdo-
Gothamite: Oh right and that jerk off in the red underwear is normal? Guyâs a frigginâ alien.
There's a me before you, and there's a me after you, And my whole being recognizes you as its creator, for without you, this self that I am now and love, would not have been born.
I did not change for your pleasure; You, in your infinite kindness and mercy, have demanded nothing of me. But I, in recognition of who I used to be, and in what you deserve, And knowing about my shortcomings and incapacity, I decided I could do better for you.
And now I think about myself and who I am, and I say, â"When the very essence of your soul is so profoundly entwined with another person, that there is no way to define yourself without including them".
Because I define myself through you, because I am yours.
