I finished watching ep 4 of bittersweet love last night and it was so unnaturally sickening to get through i had to literally close the screen multiple times after the half way mile of the episode

Even though a lot of people are hating on xiaofan I've not for a moment felt anything towards him then heartbreak, his character is very real to me what he has gone through and what he is going through has shaped him into what he is and i do wish for a character development but I understand it'll take time people just don't change in a matter of a day some people don't even change ever that's just how humans are it's strange that people want un-nonsical stories with depth and good writing but starts disliking and calling it 'too much' when it is presented to them

The actor for xiaofan potrayed the character so well his entire body reeked of this heavy misery

And since I'm already talking so much about this i would like to add I've seen a TON of people ship xiaofan with zhiyan(?) (the ml's friend I'm not good with names) and that is awful why are the options between abuser and abuser? That guy is not anything better then ml if anything he pisses me a lot too. He's a classist sure he's rather nice to xiaofan but that's because he thinks of xiaofan as someone lesser then him and if anything he's very aware of the strategy of sweet words getting more work done then being harsh. The words he told Xiaofan in ep 4 about him being someone who's discardable just made him hate him more then i already did

Forever having thoughts about Sect Leader Ouyang telling everyone that if even the kids are fighting they ought to be as well at the Second Siege of the Burial mounds. Because almost everyone agrees that, even without their spiritual energy they can’t leave the children to fight by themselves.

Lan Sizhui has to be at least 17, possibly 18, and most of the other juniors are a similar age with Jin Ling being on the younger end at 15. Everyone agrees that these are children (they’re right) and that they should be protecting them and preventing them fighting and running into danger, that their safety is a priority and they shouldn’t be involved with the adults’ conflicts.

And it’s just- Jiang Cheng was 17 when he became a wartime sect leader. Wei Wuxian was 17 when he was thrown into the burial mounds and became one of the most feared combatants of the Sunshot Campaign. Lan Xichen was 19 when he became Sect leader. Jin ZiXuan was maybe 18 when he was doing most of the actual frontline fighting for his sect.

I’m not sure how much that theme carried through for other clans but likely a considerable amount since the Wen’s had eradicated the leadership of many of the minor clans first.

But the Juniors are children and it’s the adults’ job to protect them. And the adults are there, they’re present and they are planning to leave the children the hell out of it because that’s an option now. These kids aren’t allowed in their war conferences- they’re only there for this as hostages because it’s a given that their parents would come and rescue them.

They’re only there for the rest of the plot because some of them keep running off and ignoring their families’ pleas to just stay within their line of sight and out of trouble. Many thoughts about how these people who led major military campaigns in their teens are now extremely protective of their own teenage children. Like the cultivation world fucked up on so many fronts but at least they seem to be doing something sort of right.

i rmb reading the manhwa ages ago and dropping it for some reason (i don't remember specifically but maybe cuz it was very toxic and the ml (jay) was extremely red and confusing, either that or simply because there was too much sex happening) i wasn't gonna pick up the live adaptation but someone on a gc said they really love it but has noone to talk about it with so i picked it up cuz i want to talk about it with them and it's not as i remembered 💀

Jay is actually nice and kinda cute, confusing still but better ??

It's only Wei Wuxian who wanted Jiang Cheng to be just Jiang Cheng—grumpy, moody, sharp-mouthed, and everything that made him who he was. Jiang Cheng didn't need to become anyone or anything to be loved by Wei Wuxian wholeheartedly.

And that's why it hurt like bitch when Wei Wuxian left. It made Jiang Cheng feel like he was not enough for Wei Wuxian, too, in the end.
