Everything goes dark. Your organs start shutting down one by one. Your heartbeat is gone. You’re gone.
Your eyes open, and you’re in a small room. It’s not your room that you’re used to, but it’s got a bed. You look up and see another person in the bunk above you. You’ve never seen them before in your life. Who are they? You get out of bed and look down. You’re dressed in a dull grey pair of pajamas. You’ve never worn these before. How did they get on your body?
You peer out the small window on the side of the room. All you can see it water. You’re on a boat. How did you end up on a boat? Slowly you start to remember— you’re dead. Your heart is beating, how can you be dead? It’s a mystery. You remember how it happened, the events leading up to it. But you still don’t know how you ended up on this boat.
You leave your room and begin to wander. You meet other people, all dressed the same as you. You wonder how they got there. You don’t know if it’s rude to ask, so you don’t. Rather, you make simple small talk, trying to find out if anyone else knows where you’re all going.
You watch the boat pulling up to the dock. There’s a sign that reads ‘Welcome to Elsewhere.’ This is your home now.
