1. Future Islands - Singles 2. Scott Walker - Soused 3. Tanya Tagaq - Animism 4. Mac Demarco - Salad Days 5. Um…. There were some good songs. Flying Lotus, St. Vincent, & Ariel Pink come to mind, but not many whole albums I liked.

The official description didn’t interest me, but I was curious about the Schwarzenegger interview, & I read one of Ferriss’ books so… I’m glad I listened.
In the episode I linked, Chase Jarvis talks about making money as an artist. I thought it was a good episode to highlight given the number of musicians and artists I’m lucky enough to know. I listened to it twice. It gives me more of an intuitive feel than just reading a book full of career advice.

Ever hear someone gripe about their problems with too much spare time or too much money and think, "I wish I had that problem!" That is how I laugh at my own problems now. There was a time, not long ago, when I wished I had the problems I do now. That's how I know life is pretty good, even though I still have some of the old serious problems. I can laugh now, and I am thankful.

This is part of a strip by The Oatmeal. While I love the sentiment, my experience has been that if you're wishy-washy about your own beliefs, or absence of beliefs, somebody else in your kid's life won't be so shy. It's easy to forget that kids have little frame of reference to decide what is real and what is not. Tell your kids what your family's beliefs are or are not. Let them know they can change it later. Faith comes from hearing, and they need to hear from you, because their friends' parents, scout leaders, teachers, bus drivers, etc. are not interested in passing on your beliefs. I read this book again yesterday. This time, not only did it sink in, but I realized that I am undergoing such a shift. The thought came to me, “I am the wolf that howls in your ear,” and my sense of smell returned to me. Only then did I realize that I hadn’t smelled much for months, at least, and I hadn’t even noticed. It is delightful!
