Re your finances. Do you have a ko-fi or something? Wouldn't mind donating some cash.
Lol no anon I don’t! But thanks! Once I start working it’ll all work out! Found some cheap housing so I think it’ll be a little better may only need 10-20 hours of a second job!! Thank god for roomies!
please know you are doing your best. if you feel like you’re struggling, like you’re not doing enough, not being enough, not getting anywhere. if you feel unhappy, unmotivated, unproductive. it’s hard. and that is ok. you are doing your best. it’ll look different to what everyone else is doing but that doesn’t matter. you are doing amazing because you are being you.
Losing weight is not your life’s purpose
a comic about trauma
5 SiGNS OF EMOTIONAL ABUSE
1. Degradation This is when someone puts you down all the time and /or makes jokes at your expense. This can make us second guess our own feelings and experience.
2. Controlling or Domination or Dominion Do you have to plan your whole day around what they think is okay? Do they control your money or time? Many people will struggle to think on their own if this has been going on for a long time.
3. Accusing of Blaming Is nothing ever their fault? Do they blame any issues they have on everyone else in their life? Are they super sensitive to any personal criticism?
4. Neglect Parents may give their children the silent treatment or stone wall them when they have done something they see as wrong. They may not meet any of our basic needs as a punishment for wrongdoing.
5. Emmeshment or Coyenssgancecodependence this is when Someone sees you as an extension of themselves. they will overstep boundaries and pull into their situation or tell inappropriate things about life. struggle to see any differentiation between themselves another person.
REMEMBER: Emotional abuse is never your fault. In fact, your partner may just be trying to control or manipulate you into staying in the relationship. Some characteristics:
Using economic power to control you
Threatening to leave
Making you afraid by using looks, gestures or actions
Smashing things
Controlling you through minimizing, denying and blaming
Making light of the abuse and not taking your concerns about it seriously
Continually criticizing you, calling you names, shouting at you
Emotionally degrading you in private, but acting charming in public
Humiliating you in private or public
Withholding approval, appreciation or affection as punishment
no trauma is ‘too minor’ to have an impact on your mental health. how you feel right now should be recognised
This is so damn important. If you experience any kind of situation that leaves you feeling traumatised, scared and anxious, you are allowed to feel this way. It does not matter if other people do not understand you or do not view the situation as bad as you do. Your feelings are valid and your trauma is, too.
sometimes it just hurts beyond logic and reason and rationality, because it’s a core piece of human feeling. it rips into you and you feel like you can’t take another breath. it’s okay. it’s okay to hurt and not be able to explain. it’s okay to hurt even when you want to fight it. it’s okay. it will be okay. you will be okay. but sometimes, it’s just going to hurt.
It wasn’t your fault. You deserve to be safe.
Stay safe 🌵
Forced Treatment
Going to talk about something which has been bothering me recently and I know affects others with eating disorders.
Since agreeing to go on the waiting list for inpatient, I’ve been fighting myself in my head - ‘if I was really ill I wouldn’t choose to be admitted’ ‘I’m not being forced so I’m not that bad’ ‘people who are sectioned are real anorexics not me’. Sound logical? Nope but probably something a lot of you have thought.
In a lot of people with eating disorders, however physically and mentally unwell they become, they still have insight, want to engage with treatment and worry about the effects of the disorder on their bodies.
Asking for and accepting help does not mean you are a fraud. It does not mean you are ‘less unwell’ than those who refuse treatment, it does not mean you don’t need help, it does not mean you are not in danger.
Anorexia has lots of sneaky, cruel, life-threatening goals - ‘you can recover when your BMI is dangerously low’ ‘you’ll be a good anorexic when your blood results are abnormal’ ‘being forced into treatment means you’re really ill’. Do you think you would feel proud if you were on bed rest, being force-fed and under the mental health act? Your ED probably thinks so but we all know that none of its targets make us happy.
There’s a lot of talk in this community of threats and professionals taking choice away: ‘if you lose any more weight you’ll be sectioned’ ‘you’re not allowed to go to school/college/uni/work’ but all teams work differently and just because you haven’t been threatened with more intense treatment or stopped from doing activities, it does not make you less unwell.
Even if you stop halfway with a suicide attempt, decide you know what? I’d rather live. You still attempted and that’s a significant part of your life and we shouldn’t diminish suicide attempts based on wether or not people are ‘successful’ or end up in the hospital. Even if nobody knows about your attempt, if your parents or siblings didn’t find you, it still happened. Don’t ignore trauma because it doesn’t fit your definition.
Anti anxiety.
I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THAT CAT ONE FOREVER
This is amazing but I’m on mobile so the gifs keep freezing. So I’m just sitting here turning purple like a fool. Keep breathing everyone!
If you’re suddenly struggling after a while of doing well like I am right now, please remember how to fight the good fight and don’t stop. Things cannot and will not stay or feel this way forever.
Is tingling in different body parts a ptsd symptom? I think I read it somewhere but I can't remember where?
please be gentle with yourself. you’re trying. if it’s taking you longer than you thought to achieve something or get somewhere that’s okay. try not to compare yourself to others too much because not everyone gets to where they need to be right away. you’re alive that’s what matters. keep trying. you’ll get there.
we think we won’t make it to our next birthday.
we think about whether or not we’d be missed.
we think we can’t make it another day.
we think there isn’t a future to look forward to.
but
we will.
we would be.
we can and will.
there is.
