Rocky, once again, being baffled and STRESSED about human biology and the things his human does to keep healthy
i dont think mr "my whole crew died of radiation sickness" likes the fact that his alien and most things on his planet needs it for survival very much xD

Yk I think some ppl forget just how subversive Jamil’s overblot was supposed to be. Up until then it had been only dorm leaders who overblotted, so automatically Kalim is up next on the roster if we’re going by dorm leader.
Kalim was erratic and indecisive, only getting worse with time, just like all previous overblotees. He had a motive, being stressed over his dorms poor placement and his “poor” leadership, that could be a reasonable reason to overblot (at his first introduction & before we know him anyway).
By those metrics, it was reasonable to assume Kalim was gonna overblot.
Except not really.
One of my big critiques of book 4 was how they handled the mystery that was Jamil. They were way too heavy handed with it in game. Plus on a meta level, the next villian was Jafar, who Jamil was OBVS based on. He had so many moments of “heh hehe my plan is going perfectly…” that it just kinda took the mystique out of it.
Plus, Kalim was TOO erratic, and Jamil was TOO calm.
It was like they couldn’t commit to actually trying to trick viewers & leave enough hints to make a replay of B4 a different experience. But they didn’t really commit to making the mind control super clear either. Instead they went for a middle ground that was worse than either options. I remember getting a bit frustrated at MC/Yuu I’m the beginning because it was just so clear with everything above. (Jamil was doing too much in front of Yuu that egotistical bastard ☠️)
At the VERY LEAST they shouldn’t have had Jamil basically say “yea I have a super secret plan tehe” to the player in like one of the first scenes. No I don’t care he was mumbling to himself. My point still stands.
I think they tried to make the average player waver on who they think was going to overblot, but I can say for sure I didn’t and I don’t think others did either. Another case of writers overestimating players stupidity (kinda?? It’s a bit more complicated considering TW is a gacha game but I’m still gonna stand by my point)
Personally, I think it would have been better if they actually tried to make it convincing that Kalim was going to OB, with only minor hints in the beginning, cause I really don’t think they committed to convincing the audience.
This causes a lot of issues in all kinds of media. It’s not bad writing in and of itself, but telling the audience something while the POV character believes something different can get frustrating when it starts to feel obvious to an audience. A real immersion breaker. B4 really was the start of the Yuu downfall rip. (B5 just kinda had Yuu in the sidelines with the unimpactful title of manager, B6 was better in some ways bc Yuu wanted to be there, but worse bc they were super useless when they didn’t have to be or at least that could have been explored, and B7… Yeah you get the point. B3 was the best Yuu-wise. Remember kids (/j) , it’s very important to make your POV character impactful)
To be fair: it has been a bit sense I actually reread B4. Maybe that’s not as bad as I remember. Plus, I did really like book 4 so who knows. Also I did this in one sitting and I’m not rereading it to make sure my views are clear. Okay bye bye.
I mean, Silver is a human(!!!), but he's also adopted by Lilia (someone Baur respects a lot) and Sebek's only friend
If I'm not mistaken, Baur knows how Knight of Dawn looked like, so what did he think when realized Silver looks suspiciously KoD-shaped?
granted, things got pretty wacky when they were escaping the castle, he might not have actually processed what Dawnathon's face looked like! although I guess it is the kind of thing that sticks with you through the centuries, and if anyone was gonna notice...
(continuing my "old Bauru looks exactly the same but with a BIG mustache" agenda)
alternatively, he's gotten a lot better, but his daughter is still working with him on...certain things involving humans.
