okay so what if instead of jason, reyna was actually the one taken away from camp jupiter.
jason would be very stressed because he would do most of the paperwork because no training he ever did has prepared him well enough to deal with the senate — so he let reyna do the majority of the talking since she was more good with her words and was better than him in keeping things together.
and since she was gone he has all the work and the reunions with the senate, and also all the reports to listen. aurum was still with him in new rome but argentum was nowhere to be found, just like reyna.
so jason overworked himself since the senate didn't find fitting to send people looking for their other praetor — even though reyna was the best one they even had and this disappearance was not something that looked like a thing she would do.
since jason was barely able to take care of himself dakota, one of his old friend, would try to look out for him or send someone to do it in his place with he was too busy.
cue to hazel and frank visiting the principia since they were still newbies legionaries, trying to get him to eat, drink or do some pauses to rest. sometimes they found him sleeping in the desk, papers everywhere in the wood and heavy bags in his eyes.
also cue to nico probably having to report himself to him, since he is ambassador and all. he normally tries to do it the fastest way possibly, but it's get harder everytime because jason is clearly not listening.
if one day he call the other on it, maybe they had a talk about the son of jupiter missing his best friend. maybe not.
he was still not in his better mood when this new camper get to camp jupiter, but annabeth proved herself to be pretty clever and interesting. not that he was friendly with her at first, he was a praetor and since reyna wasn't there to be the bad praetor, he needed to do it himself.
in somewhere along the timeline he would definitely be a little nerd with her. and he would miss reyna even more.
the day annabeth was chosen to be a praetor was a good and bad one. good because now he could had help with all the work and the meeting with the senate. bad because they're replacing reyna.
and then, one day, a flying ship would appear in new rome. it would make him anxious and a little bit worried, but when the ship land and he could see her, jason knew he would have a little peace in his mind.
and if he cried while bear hugging her nobody could jugged him, she was the only person who he could actually talk without worrying about what exactly they wanted from him. reyna was home, and he has her in his arms, so let him be happy for once.
