THIS MOMENT WAS SO FUCKING COOL. One of Cal’s strengths had been established as psychometry, a part of the game mechanics is that he could touch objects and hear echoes in the Force, it’s a cool way to deliver extra bits of worldbuilding, THEN THIS MOMENT. WHEN HE PICKS UP TRILLA’S SABER. And all the horrors and hate and suffering that are part of the blade just slam right into him, just touching the hilt is enough to drive him to his knees in pain. It’s such an effective way to show some awesome lightsaber lore and it fits with everything Star Wars has established about kyber crystals and lightsabers, that they’re an extension of the Jedi (or, in this case, dark sider/fallen Jedi) who wield them, that Kanan taught Sabine that thoughts and actions become part of the blade when you wield it, that the lightsaber guidebook talks about how Jedi bond with their crystals. You add someone with psychometry into that mix?  Touching a lightsaber that really has been to hell and back?  So he’d feel every inch of her pain that had been infused into the thing?  That, even if they’re not Sith themselves, Inquisitors have been trained by the Sith, so their kyber crystals are made to bleed, screaming in pain, so that that echo is constantly in their heads, it keeps them chained to the dark side.  Even if Trilla probably doesn’t feel it the same way Cal does, it is still a constant echo in her head of all the pain she feels every day, along with what’s trapped just inside her own mind and her own connection to the Force. MAN, THAT SHIT HURTED TO WATCH. JUST THINK HOW MUCH TRILLA SUFFERED UNDER THE DARK SIDE, IF CAL FEELING THE ECHOES OF IT WAS ENOUGH TO DRIVE HIM TO HIS KNEES.
