The tension in his back was killing him. It had been a particularly rough day for the gym leader, suffering a loss first thing in the morning, and pulling his lower back muscles while attempting to work on the gym’s renovations; he blames himself for it, overstretching, rendering himself useless for the rest of the day. He had hobbled around the city before a pair of sturdy hands had a gentle grip on his shoulders. “Wh-” He was startled for sure, but the sight of Red made him realize there was nothing to worry about. Right, the guy had come over because Green had invited him over. He tensed slightly as Red started to rub at Green’s tensed up muscles, the amber haired male letting a small moan escape his mouth. “A-ah~ a little lower-” He gasped, fighting the urge to buckle to the ground. He never had a backrub before, and the steady pressure of Red’s hands made Green’s body want to melt into the touch.

   Green letting out a small noise catches his attention, if only because Red’s feeling alert and worried about him. He doesn’t say anything though because it feels like he wasn’t supposed to hear it in the first place. What matters most is that they’re going to deal with it soon. They’ll probably give something for him to take that can ease any pain there is. Hang in there.

   The response Red gets this time is what finally gets a smile out of him, despite the circumstances. It should be expected that the two of them trust each other a lot, given how long they’ve known each other, but it’s touching to hear out loud. Especially since Green looks reluctant to admit it, with how he made a sour expression as turned his gaze elsewhere.

   “That means a lot, Green… I’m gonna end up saying ‘thanks’ again.” He laughs but it’s more of an exhale. “When you’re all patched up maybe we can get ice cream? It could be my treat.” Ice cream heals all wounds.

His attention was turned back to Red, a sigh escaping his lips. Yeah, he trusted his childhood friend a whole lot. Enough to go to him if something happened. He clenched his jaw, trying to ignore the pain that was radiating from his hand. 

“Ice cream? Yeah, sounds good.” It wasn’t often he treated himself to something like ice cream. He tended to keep himself on a strict coffee diet. Joking aside, he seldom treated himself to treats, and since he did forget to eat at times he really did have a coffee only diet some days.  He could see the Pokemon center’s red roof in the distance and exhaled a breath of relief. Hopefully he’ll be doped up on pain killers in no time.

   He’s very careful not too touch it too much, but he does try to get as close of a look if he can. That’s going to bruise really bad… and if it’s actually broken, then it’ll swell like nothing else on top of that.

   The out-of-place laugh doesn’t really seem to affect Red’s attitude in the way it was intended. Instead, it makes him thoughtful and a little stiff.

   “… I wonder if your body is in shock… so you can’t feel all the pain yet.” He mumbles mostly to himself. Adrenaline could be real effective when it comes to numbing the pain but it always catches up to you. Red knew that from experience. “I’m sure they’ll find room for you. Um. Thanks for coming to me about it.”

   With that, they head to the Pokemon Center as planned.

He knew that his hand was going to hurt afterwards, and it made him slightly anxious. Though he tried keeping his cool. It was something he had to learn to do growing up. 

He walked awkwardly beside Red as they made their way to the nearest Pokemon Center, his hand starting to throb as they walked. “Fu-” He bit his lip. NO. He’s wasn’t gonna admit it was starting to hurt. He was too prideful.

“Yeah well, I honestly don’t trust many people and you’re the first person I thought of when it happened so-” He looked away, his cheeks puffing up.
