tumblr is my preferred social media site partly because it has real basement energy.

like, everything that happens on tumblr is kind of happening, spiritually speaking, in somebody's basement. different kinds of basements in different kinds of posts, of course—sometimes the basement is finished and you're down there with friends in a giddy slumber party and sometimes you are covered in mud and crouching gibbering in someone's storm cellar, but that basement feeling remains.

Me and Jake just had this long talk about forgiveness and stuff cuz we have differing opinions on it.

Like Jake has cut some people out of his life but he believes that if they apologize then he should accept them back into his life regardless of if they've actually changed, and he's been hurt many times by this over and over again.

I think that I can forgive people but I in no way have to tell the person I've forgiven them or have anything to do with them again if I choose.

Now I will say that I also believe in self care and doing what you have to for your own mental health. If I need to write a 20 page letter to a person that hurt me and send it to them to make myself feel better then I absolutely will. Regardless of if they'll read it or respond to it. And I think anyone that would possibly need to write me a letter or whatever has the right to do that for their own health and happiness, but I don't have to feel obligated to respond and they don't have to respond if it was me.

I don't know, me and Jake are always having deep discussions about various topics and it gets me wanting to share stuff online but I never want to do it on Facebook and Twitter doesn't give you enough words to do it.

I guess I'm just trying to say that forgiveness doesn't have to be said out loud and people should just do what they gotta do to be able to make it through the day and a lot of times that means not leaving things unsaid.

My least favorite part about the past few years is the realization that people don't like to just sit and talk about stuff and get to know each other better.

I love having a friend over and just talking for hours about our lives or stuff that's bothering us but I just can't do that with people anymore.

Lately I've felt a lot more social and I've been making attempts to spend more time with friends. I've also not been in a great place mentally over the past few months so I've felt the need to connect with people more. I've quickly found out why I haven't been enjoying other people's company. Everyone now doesn't want to just talk, there has to be an activity going on with some light chatting going on. When people hang out they wanna be watching tv, playing a game, or anything except fully focusing on another person.

I hate it and I feel like I have a ton of stuff just being held up inside my brain because I don't have the chance to say them. I don't feel like I know anything beyond surface level about my current friend group.

I just hate all of it and I wanna have actual relationships with people beyond just having someone around to distract you when you're bored.
