At first he thought he was underneath a neon light outside some random bar. All he could see was red, a bright red. With his vision still blurry he blinked several time. Finally after four or five good blinks, his vision returned.
He was in a small room with cold metal walls. There was nothing in the room except for the single wooden chair he was sitting in. The light bulb in the socket was bright red in hue. The brightness of it made his head feel like there were men with sledge hammers pounding away at his skull.
He slowly tried to stand up but quickly fell back into the chair. His head was spinning. He took a couple of deep breaths and was able to stand on his own. However, he resemble a new born baby giraffe as he turned around.
As he turned he noticed directly behind the chair was a single solid metal door with a rectangular peep hole around the height of his head. He wobbled over to the door and attempted to peek out. Wherever he was it was dark outside the room.
He began to start to panic. He inhaled deeply through his nose and immediately gagged and dry heaved. The smell in the room was what can only be described as a mix of urine and sweat. Very old sweat. He covered his nose and looked around the room further.
He looked down at the door and saw scratches running down it. He bent down and looked closer at the scratches. He gasped in horror as he realized they were bloody and had nails pieces of tissue still imbedded in them. He began to breathe harder and stumbled backwards.
He tripped over the chair and fell on the cold concrete floor with a hard thud knocking the wind out of him. He took a deep breath yet again and collected himself and stood on his feet once again. He began to search the room further in detail. He started to the right of the door and began walking along the walls, feeling up and down them. They were as they first appeared, solid metal and cold to the touch. There was nothing special about them it appeared.
On the opposite side of the room he looked up in the corner and noticed a small square vent. A small breeze was coming out of it and the air smelled stale, like old sweat. He then moved to inspecting the sold concrete floor. He noticed tons of old what appeared to be water stains all over the concrete. He bent down to take a closer look and caught a whiff of the odor coming from the stains. It was urine. It was clear to him that he was not the first person to be in this room.
He began to feel dizzy once again and stumbled once again into the wooden chair and sat down. He bent over and put his head between his legs. He began to wonder how he got to this place. He couldn’t remember anything, not even his own name. He began to get terrified and his thoughts started racing.
“How did I get here? Am I being held prisoner? Will I be tortured?” He started to weep and rock back and forth in the chair. “Where am I?!” He asked to no one.
Suddenly behind him he heard a rustling sound. It startled him and he whipped out of the chair and turned around. Standing in the corner was the largest spider he could ever remember seeing. Its height went from the floor to the ceiling which was about seven feet in total. Its legs alone were taller than him. It rushed at him and he ran across the room to the opposite corner and tried to climb the wall. The rustling suddenly stopped. The giant spider was gone.
He then felt something on his shoulder. He slowly turned his head in an Indiana Jones like fashion and to his horror there was a long black cobra slithering down his body. He screamed and threw the snake across the room where it to was suddenly gone. It had vanished into thin air. In the blink of an eye it was gone. “What the hell is going on?!” he screamed. He ran over to the window in the door and screamed out the window “Hello! Someone please let me out!” Then the walls began to shift.
The walls began to move closer and closer together. The sound they made was exactly like nails on a chalkboard. He began to run up to the moving walls in an attempt to stop them from moving but it was useless. He sunk to the middle of the floor and curled up into a ball. He could hear the creaking of the wooden chair was the walls closed in on it and him. He felt the coldness of the metal walls as they touched his shoulders, then nothing. The walls were magically back in place.
He ran for the door again, tripping over the chair in the process. “For the love of God! Someone help me!” He pounded his fists on the door to the point that they were bruised and bleeding. He stood up and put his arm through the peep hole. He was hoping to touch something, anything. Maybe make some noise so someone knew he was there. He felt nothing. He sank to his knees. He laid on the floor. It was all clear now. He was in some sort of high tech prison.
Then came a sound from the small square vent. He went closer to the vent to examine it. He was directly in front of the vent when all of a sudden millions upon millions of bees came pouring out of the vent like a dam had burst. They swarmed him and finally he was stung in the neck and when he opened his eyes they were gone. A dark veil began to come down over his eyes. He passed out and fell to the floor.
The military doctor sat down at his desk and turned on his tape recorder. “Today is July 7th, 2008. Test of experimental gas compound number 7221-1. Subject is an adult male 25 years of age in perfect health. Subject John Doe-121 exhibited all signs and symptoms as the other subjects did. Again these include but are not limited to fear, paranoia, amnesia, vivid hallucinations and nausea. The nausea is due to the foul smell of the gas. Like all the other subjects John Doe-121 also urinated before passing out.” He turned the tape recorder off and wrote into his notes. “The gas still appears to be very effective as a chemical weapon or as a means of collecting intel from prisoners. The formula will need to be adjusted if it is to be used as a means of collecting intel as it causes temporary to permanent amnesia.” He closed his notes and turned off the desk light. Time to go home dinner is ready he thought as he peered up at the clock that said 5:00pm.
