It all happened so quickly, Jotaro barely got time to react. All he could remember was that they were in the ocean when the knives suddenly appeared, quickly flying in Jolyne’s direction. Jotaro tried to move, run, but he was dreaming. He can’t run in his dreams. He couldn’t summon Star Platinum to stop time. He was frozen. He could only watch and scream in horror as the knives struck his daughter. Jolyne’s green irises were wide, not with pain, but shock and terror. Sadly looking at her father, she stumbled out a helpless “Daddy…” before her body suddenly began to rupture. Jolyne quickly disappeared, a swarm of butterflies being all that remained.
Jotaro wanted to scream even more than he already had. He wanted to reach into the butterflies to frantically look for any sign left of Jolyne. The swarm quickly dissipated and she was gone. All he wanted was to hold her once more, but now she was gone. As he stared into the empty space which used to be his daughter, Jotaro suddenly heard a familiar voice. “Dad!” His son. Jouta was calling him. He tried to move his head towards the direction of the voice, but he can’t move! The World’s ability was to stop time, not Made in Heaven’s. Why can’t he move?!
“Dad!” Jouta’s voice rang again, much closer this time. Feelings of shock, denial, and grief were overflowing Jotaro’s mind. “Watch out! Dad!” His son had finally come into Jotaro’s line of sight, but it was only for a brief second. A flash of light occurred, and Jotaro suddenly fell on his back and into shallow waters. His limbs were now free from the time stop. When he glanced back towards Jouta, he felt like he was going throw up. His head was split open, all the way down to his neck. Jouta quickly began to bleed out before landing in his father’s shaking arms. “I….I-I’m sorry, Dad..” The boy stammered, and his body quickly began to form cracks. Jotaro couldn’t speak, he couldn’t scream, he could just stare. His son had taken the hit for him. In mere seconds, Jouta’s frame turned a bright emerald green before shattering in Jotaro’s arms. He tried to pick up the pieces, but the ocean swept them away.
Nothing else remained of his son and daughter, and Jotaro has never felt more empty in his life. His head facing the sky, he just angrily screamed at the clouds. He screamed and wailed, begging for something to save him from his miserable existence. Soon enough, a pair of soft hands quickly came to caress his face. Through his tears, Jotaro looked into the eyes of the most beautiful angel he’s ever seen. His hair was cherry red, wavy, and his eyes were a lovely shade of lavender. The angel quickly spoke, his voice echoing. “JoJo. Open your eyes.”
-
“JoJo? JoJo!”
In his dream state, Jotaro didn’t understand what the angel had meant. His eyes were already open. However, when he blinked, he was no longer in the ocean. As a matter of fact, he was no longer in Florida. Jotaro was in a Japanese bedroom, a familiar one at that. Startled and confused, he quickly turned his head and once again locked eyes with the beautiful angel from his dream.
Noriaki didn’t realize what was going on with Jotaro until he heard him whine. It wasn’t uncommon for nightmares to occur, but the encounter with Pucci had only worsened them. Once Jotaro had opened his eyes and found himself brought back to reality, Noriaki just gazed at his muse with loving concern and sympathy. But perhaps it was too loving, for Jotaro’s teal eyes quickly turned watery upon noticing Noriaki.
“Sweetheart..” The redhead started, but the other man’s cries quickly overlapped him. Jotaro couldn’t hold his emotions back, all he could do was cry and scream. Just like in his dream. “Baby..” Noriaki tried to soothe him, being as calm as he could be. Freaking out would only scare Jotaro even more. “Jolyne! J-Jouta!” The dark haired man shouted through his tears, recalling the horrific visions his nightmare had shown him. The childlike nature of Jotaro’s words were quick to note. He sounded like a scared little boy crying for his mama, only he was instead a scared father crying for his kids.
Noriaki had to hold back his own tears trying to tend to the frightened Jotaro. Before he could give him more words of reassurance, the sounds of loud and fast footsteps were quick to come into earshot. When the door opened, Noriaki turned to give a sad smile to the two guests. Jolyne and Jouta stood there in the doorway, both clearly concerned and shaken up themselves. Jolyne looked almost as frightened as her father, her thumb between her lips. She was shaking as her younger brother held her hand.
“Just another bad dream, baby. The kids are alright, see?” Noriaki had pointed to their son and daughter, which seemed to help divert Jotaro’s attention away from his nightmare. “They’re safe. We all are.” While the redhead’s words did put Jotaro at some ease, the sight of a visibly shaken Jolyne startled him. “Daddy..?” the girl started, she was speaking in the same scared tone she did right before she had burst into butterflies.
This incited Jotaro’s fight or flight, for he had suddenly found himself jumping off the bed. His tears started to come back as he wrapped his arms around both of his kids. He may have felt little right now, but his kids will always be his kids! He needs to protect them! While Jouta initially flinched at the sudden contact, he and his sister quickly embraced their father back. The room quickly became filled with the sounds of both Jotaro and Jolyne’s sobs. It became clear that Jolyne was feeling little too in that moment.
“My poor little JoJos…” Noriaki had started to speak, getting off the bed to join the family embrace. “Did you have a bad dream too, choucho?” He asked Jolyne in a hushed tone, patiently waiting for her to collect her words as she sniffled out a response. “Uh-uh.. I-I jus ‘er Daddy cry an’ got ‘cared!” Her sobs were only getting louder and Jotaro continued to cry along with her. All they could both do was vent out their big feelings, their fears and traumas. Life has not been easy for the two, especially in recent times. “I’m here for you, JoJo.” Jouta had finally spoken up, cementing his words by giving Jolyne a kiss on her cheek.
Although she continued to sniffle, Jolyne quickly embraced her younger brother. Jouta smiled as he hugged her back, beginning to rock back and forth as a means to calm Jolyne. Watching the kids’ interaction, Noriaki smiled at his son. “You’re a great brother, Jouta.” He’s told him that countless of times, but the impact of it never wears off. Upon hearing his father’s praises, the boy happily nodded in agreement. Jouta was beaming with pride! While Jolyne was being consoled by her brother, Jotaro had taken to sucking on his thumb to stifle his own sobs. Noriaki hugged Jotaro from the side, kissing his cheek before beginning to rock back and forth as well.
“How about we all have a big sleepover in the living room for the rest of the night?” He made a suggestion to his family. This seemed to catch Jolyne’s attention as she quickly pulled away from Jouta to look at Noriaki. “An’ make a big fort?” Her green eyes began to light up like a Christmas tree. Jolyne loves pillow and blanket forts! “Of course, choucho! We’ll make a big fort and put on some cartoons for you and Daddy!” Noriaki responded to his daughter in an excited tone. This delighted Jolyne, who then began to smile and clap her hands through her tears. Jotaro must’ve also heard, for he lifted his arms up towards Noriaki. This always indicated he wanted to be picked up.
“You want up, JoJo?” Noriaki asked Jotaro, looking up at him for he was seven inches taller. Jotaro didn’t respond verbally, he just nodded. He never liked to talk a lot while regressed. Noriaki didn’t waste any time on giving his little what he wanted, though picking Jotaro up wasn’t an easy task. A simple solution for Noriaki was summoning Hierophant Green. That way he could easily hold Jotaro up with his stand carrying most of the heavy weight. The redhead adjusted the taller man in his arms, giving him a smile and a gentle pat on his bottom. “Happy?” He asked Jotaro, who simply responded with a nod once again.
“Uppies..” Jolyne could be heard mumbling, almost as if she was jealous. She always loved it when either Jotaro or Noriaki would pick her up, but her father needs his little time too. She wasn’t mad, just a little disappointed. That was until Jouta spoke up again. “I can pick you up, Jo!” He told his older sister, smiling at her again with his arms open. The pout on Jolyne’s face quickly disappeared and she happily accepted Jouta’s invitation. Despite the six year age difference between the siblings, Jouta was only three inches shorter than Jolyne. He didn’t need the aid of his Charmy Green to lift his sister up. He was strong for his age, a notable Joestar trait.
Jolyne had quickly gotten settled in Jouta’s arms, her tears seemed to have gone away for the most part. She now was aware that her daddy was okay, he was just a little shaken up. Speaking of Jotaro, he too wasn’t crying anymore, but he could still be heard sniffling. He was still sucking on his thumb, which caught Noriaki’s attention. “Need your paci, JoJo?” He was careful to make sure Jotaro knew it was targeted towards him as to not get Jolyne confused. Jotaro responded with a soft “Mhm.” Since Noriaki’s hands were full, he put Hierophant Green to good use once again. The stand used one of its tentacles to reach into one of the drawers, pulling out a box that contained Jotaro’s little gear. “Which paci do you want, baby?”
“Starfish..” Jotaro had a small collection of different sea creature themed pacifiers. His starfish paci was one of his favorites. After a moment of digging through the box, Hierophant quickly found the shiny pink and green binky. The stand then brought the pacifier over to Jotaro, who accepted the binky as soon as it touched his lips. He bobbed the paci up and down, immediately beginning to relax as Noriaki gently rocked him. “There we go, sweetheart!” The redhead cooed, kissing the top of Jotaro’s head. Meanwhile, Jouta and Jolyne were stuck in their own world, with the younger being more focused on entertaining his little-big sister.
“Otouto, paci.” Jolyne had spoken up, she must’ve noticed her father receiving his pacifier and now wanted hers as well. “Yeah? Dad has his, you want yours too?” Jouta asked her, though he already knew her answer. Jolyne confirmed it with a nod. “Bwoo one!” She was one step ahead of him. “Blue butterfly? Like your tattoo?” The boy immediately knew which binky she was referring to, it was her favorite one. “Yah!” Jolyne was becoming excited now. “Sure, Nee-chan! Charmy will get it for you!” The aforementioned stand appeared as if on cue, giving Jolyne a smile and wave before floating his way towards the young woman’s bedroom.
As Jolyne was watching Charmy Green float away, Jotaro suddenly started looking around the room. This little gesture always meant he was looking for something. “What is it, baby?” Noriaki asked him, already having a feeling as to what it was he was wanting. Jotaro pointed towards the closet, muffling a “Nori..” in response. Not only was it Noriaki’s nickname, but also the name of Jotaro’s beloved dolphin plushie. She was over twenty-years-old, older than Jolyne. She’s been Jotaro’s loyal companion since 1988, the year he started regressing. Despite her age, Nori was pristine and well maintained throughout the years, still cuddly as ever! “Well, of course! I’m sure she misses you!” Noriaki responded enthusiastically, once again using Hierophant Green to obtain Jotaro’s plushie.
It didn’t take long for Nori to end up in her best friend’s hands. Even with the pacifier in the way, a noticeable smile began to form on Jotaro’s lips. He was happy to be reunited with his beloved dolphin! Even if she was only a few feet away from their bed. Charmy Green had also just returned to the bedroom; not only with Jolyne’s favorite butterfly paci, but also one of her own cuddly toys! “Look Jo, Charmy brought you Gioia!” Jouta seemed almost as enthusiastic as his sister was upon seeing her stuffed pink ladybug. Gioia was a gift from Giorno, their relative from Italy. While ladybugs weren’t Jolyne’s favorite insect, she had a soft spot for most bugs in general, especially while she’s little.
Jolyne giggled as Charmy carefully placed the pacifier between her lips. Holding Gioia in her hand, she turned to Noriaki to show him. “Papa!” Her voice was muffled thanks to her paci, but the redhead could understand her perfectly. “Yes, you got your paci and stuffy, choucho?” Jolyne nodded along to him, giggling away as she swished her ladybug around. She seemed much happier now. Maybe a little too happy though, for her binky had suddenly slipped from her lips. “Oh!” There was an instant panic in the little’s voice. She always hated losing her pacis. Thankfully though, the panic in Jolyne’s eyes didn’t last long. Her beloved paci was saved! “Stoney!”
Stone Free held the pacifier safely in her hand before quickly returning it to her user. Jolyne smiled as she accepted the paci once again. She was lucky to have such an incredible stand looking after her! “Great catch, Stone!” Jouta praised his sister’s stand, who then went to hug Charmy Green as her own display of affection. The hug was quickly interrupted by large purple arms joining the embrace. Star Platinum had finally made his appearance, poor thing must’ve felt left out. A regressed user meant a regressed stand as well. “Are we all full of smiles now? That’s more like it!” Noriaki spoke up, smiling at the sight of the group hug between the three stands. Hierophant Green also added to it by planting kisses on each of the stands’ foreheads. Stands deserve affection too! “Do I even need to ask what cartoon you guys want to watch?”
“Sponge-bah?” Jotaro muttered, his teal eyes lighting up as he lovingly gazed at Noriaki. What cartoon is more perfect for a little marine biologist than SpongeBob SquarePants? Watching it was Jotaro’s most favorite little activity, aside from receiving cuddles from his family of course! “Absolutely we will put SpongeBob on, baby! It is your favorite!” Noriaki confirmed, causing Jotaro to smile behind his pacifier again. Jolyne also gave her approval, happily exclaiming “Sponge-bah!” Sure, she didn’t love the show as much as her father did, but she never passed up the opportunity to watch it. Every Kujo-Kakyoin loves SpongeBob!

Both Noriaki and Jouta took to carefully transporting the littles into the living room. Jotaro was quiet as a mouse. Typical of him in his regressed state. Noriaki didn’t mind, so long as he wasn’t upset. Jolyne on the other hand, had become quite giggly. She was laughing at Star Platinum, who was taking the time to play peekaboo with her. It was Jotaro’s way of showing affection to Jolyne whenever he or both of them are regressing. She’ll always be his baby girl, even when Jotaro’s feeling like a baby himself.

This is just an agere oneshot I’m working on. It’s not done yet but I really like how it’s coming out and I just couldn’t wait to share it.
I’ll reblog with the continuation eventually. I also plan on posting it to AO3.
I also haven’t really seen agere fics with Jouta so I wanted to include him. He’s a good brother! ♡
