ok , hi . so prom season is upon us and my prom is soon itself . like . next week soon . three days after my birthday soon ( i measure events through my birthday in the month of may ) , so i have decided to help the girlies and baddies out there for their prom makeup , since i have not rested since i have brought my tickets ( which was SO pricey , so i am not letting my makeup be pricey as well . . . ) . behold , baddie on a budget !! here are my qualifications for you to listen to me and trust me : i have sensitive skin , acne prone skin , dry skin , hyperpigmentation in some areas , and i'm gorgeous so . . . all makeup products that i will mention are makeup products i used for my test trial prom makeup , and can be found at drugstores like walmart , target , CVS , etc .
i can NOT stress this enough . skin prep will be your best friend throughout the whole process . and i've seen so many influencers out there with their high end makeup products and ten step skin prep routine , and i love it for them !! but i'm a senior in high school who is going to go to college soon and has many events coming for her , so i can not buy the rhode glazing milk or whatever for this . . . sorry . . . ! anyways , all i do is use this moisturizer that i swear by and it's from india , but some other products you can use is the cerave moisturizer , cetaphil , and more ! i'm not very keen in the moisturizer isle , because i only use my one moisturizer , but i'm sure there are other drugstore moisturizers that are perfect for skin prep !! before the next steps , make sure to include spf ( sunscreen ) in your routine !!
next next next . . . primer . i loveeee the e.l.f power grip primer , you know the one . the blue one . where everyone who uses it on tiktok sticks their makeup brushes to it and the brushes just stay on their faces .
if you have hyperpigmentation or just dark spots you want to cover up , use a color corrector !! with my complexion , i would use an orange shade . a quick google search will tell you what color would suit you the best . however , i also don't use a traditional color corrector but instead use the olay total effects skin cc cream . i use my finger and just pat on the product on the little hyperpigmentation around my lips and some acne scars on my cheeks . i do this with my finger though and gently pat it in . it may look weird right now , but trust me your base will be FLAWLESS .
now , sometimes i use my holy grail aka my elf halo glow as a skin tint / foundation , but for my test makeup routine i did before my shower the other day and the one i fell in love with , i skipped the halo glow and used actual foundation instead . i know . crazy . the foundation i used was the l'oreal infalliable foundation , and for that i just used a makeup sponge and blended all makeup in . a makeup tip : make sure to avoid your under eyes where you would put the concealer to not have a cakey look in that area !!
after the foundation step is down , i stare at myself in the mirror because the base just looks so freaking fabulous . . . real story . anyways , now that foundation is done , i go in with my bronzer and just apply it on my chin , under my cheek bones , on my nose , and forehead . currently i'm using this random bronzer , but i am open to suggestions !! i'm curious about the nyx buttermelt and milani bronzers , so i'd love anyone's opinions on that !! to blend in the bronzer , i take a makeup brush and gently blend in the bronzer i currently use since it's a liquid bronzer .
now that i'm bronzed up and ready for my favorite step , blush , i use my elf camo liquid blush . i think this is the one that's a dupe for the real beauty blush , but make sure to only apply small dots because this shit is PIGMENTED !!! anyways . i put like one dot on my cheekbones , one on my nose bridge , and the left over blush from my makeup brush on my chin . like i said , i use a makeup brush to blend this as well !!
NOW i use concealer . i use the maybelline fit me concealer , and make sure it's a shade lighter than you for your under eyes , and put it in my inner corners , a line as if you were doing winged eyeliner , and a line under my bronzer . a makeup tip : use the same concealer on your eyelids for a base for eye makeup !! anyways , i let all that concealer set for a few minutes and then spray some setting spray on my makeup brush and blend everything in . and then my newest favorite part . i use the maybelline fit me powder on my face and i swearrr it blurs everything out !! it's genuinely so gorgeous , it's insane to me .
ok , now eyes . i have four different mascaras but the one i will take to the grave with me has to be my lash princess in the teal color . that literally makes your eyes pop and i swearrr it gives you the ever after high eyelashes . some people don't like this mascara , but for me i lovelovelove it !! so yes , use mascara but i'd recommend the lash princess mascara . for eye makeup , i'm not very knowledgeable on that right now but i'd definitely recommend doing a sparkly inner corner . i have a vision with my eye makeup for my prom look , i just need to figure out how to bring it to life . . . there's also so much you can do with your eyes , so figure stuff out !! do some research on tiktok and look for what works best for you .
after eyes , to cap everything off , we end with our lip combo . . . guys i deadass don't know how i ended up buying a lip liner that's the same exact shade as my lips , but ykw we ball . i recommend the nyx lip liner of course , with the nyx buttermelt gloss . i may not have found the perfect lip liner , but i know ball when it comes to lipgloss . i use the shade ' praline ' , and it's to die for . but before all this , i like to use lip balm because my lips are often dry . . . i recommend sunbum because it has spf in it as well !! keep yourself protected guys . . .
&& voila . u are now prom ready . well . . . don't forget to set everything with setting spray !! NOW , you are prom ready . i'll post more about prom if you guys need , but for now you guys have a makeup tutorial and my two cents .
luvletter2u : not the usual withluvvenus post , but i did my pre - shower prom makeup and i fell in love with it . it doesn't take much to make a girl think she's rebecca bloomwood reincarnated ( in prospects of makeup ) . but yes !! and if you're like " this isn't shifting material . . . " and more grump noises . . . tune yourself out ok ? cuz i am . to make yourself feel better , you can assume this is influencer dr me speaking ok ? or niche influencer me speaking . . . or even fan dr2 me speaking . . . whatever floats your sad boat !
