SSO has completely spoiled me on video game horses. The horses in every other game are either too cartoony and look silly or are too realistic and feel uncanny. SSO horses are the only ones to strike the perfect balance between realistic and stylized to actually look "right" to me.

i recently found out the funniest thing about big horses recently which is that for centuries humans have sworn that the feathering on big horse’s legs has been bred in there for a reason, and the reason given is usually something to do with how it helps keep the joints warm and safe when the big horse is doing hauling work in fields.

the thing is: it doesn’t appreciably do that, because the feathers wick up water and mud, which cancels out any insulation advantage they might hypothetically confer, and also it wasn’t even put there on purpose.

the Leg Get More Hair gene is just linked to the Bones Get More Big gene. when you breed any lineage of horses to have bigger bones–not just taller, but chunkier–the leg hair just happens anyway. so every single breed of draft horse has feathered legs, and even carriage horses like friesians get feathers once they hit a certain threshold of lorge.

when you supersize your horse, mother nature throws in a free pair of booties. how cool is that?

It’s the year of the horse and I’ve always been a horse girl at heart, so I’m finally taking advantage of the excuse to fill the world with fat little horses! Hey y'all remember when Alex Cloudmill's writing was about her coming from a dysfunctional family and a rough neighbourhood, how she never learned to control her emotions/anger because the adults in her life were unable to provide her with that, and her impulsivity literally got her mother figure killed, she also has an incredibly destructive power, but in the end she's an incredibly loyal and caring friend who is actually really smart just not school smart -- and not being a useless comic relief who's obvious neurodivergent traits are just something everyone can laugh at, her being poor is also used for comedy or literally not brought up at all when it should matter, she's also obsessed with food for no reason at all (actually there could be a reason, namely that she didn't have any secure access to food growing up meaning that it is now something comforting for her as an adult, but of course this is never mentioned and it's just yet another thing used for comedy). Because I remember!!
