happy (swedish) mother's day to elizabeth sunbeam. truly the mother of all time
(wip) the "as long as we have each other, we'll be fine" street urchin orphans to reluctant young druid apprentices to "fuck, i'm jealous of my sister's prophetic abilities" to "she's died, and the horror of it weighs on me forever" pipeline or whatever
helloo like i promised here's some fits for alex!! enjoy <33
My version of Elizabeth Sunbeam when she first came to Jorvik
I drew her in a style that's slightly inspired by the og sso style because I'm a total suckeerrr for ittt (the inspiration is subtle but visible, imo, tihi)
In my headcanon she came to Jorvik somewhere in the 90s in her late teens; the in-game lore alludes to her escaping a tumultuous family life so this design is based on that
I drew how I kinda imagine Elizabeth meeting Catherine; probably in a crisis and a little awkward
I wanna draw Catherine as well; maybe them both... together... platonically (mostly)
remember when I said I was going to share the rest of my notes on the first soul rider trilogy with ya'all?
WELL HERE THEY ARE
(these are purely book base notes I personally deemed important be it character descriptions, magic explanations, personality traits or just random facts I wanted written down for myself) if something isn't mentioned about XYZ I either didn't deem it that important or more likely it wasn't mentioned in there
little doodles
I love how the first 3 StarShine Legacy games were like, "oh no! There is an evil that we must stop! We will save the day just in time for the big Competition!"
And then episode 4 was like, "let's make a 3rd person shooter game and go full on Metal Gear Solid in this bitch"
Spent the weekend going through the first trilogy to make notes on all the magic/world lore to compare it to the starshine legacy games and then sso (thank the lord for playthroughs on yt) and man. I forgot how crazy those books get
I am overjoyed to know that I have become a part of the problem (in a good way I hope)
Anyways, would you mind us to peek at your notes perchance? đź‘€
absolutely! and yes i will be sharing my notes (as soon as I have them in a coercive format and organized them bc currently they look like this
(I'm 20 pages into the second book)
my headcanon references for alex and maya cause I'm in my hyperfix era
while the new marchenghast questline/area seems really cool, it feels to me, idk, somehow disconnected from the game?? i can't explain why or how but it feels like something that doesn't fit the game's esque or perhaps it is in my brain. not saying it's not good, and i'm more than happy to be receiving more quests, but it just does not feel like star stable to me
alex cloudmill was the first "do i want to be her or be with her" to a 7-year-old me playing starshine legacy
ohkayyy so the pandorian codex. it's the darkstarian code of honor, obviously, but why is it so important to garnok? what i'm thinking is, that it only became so after his death and the whole "dreaming up pandoria" thing. it was the general law for sentient darkstar residents, and since most of them were law-abiding the common view on it manifests itself on the generals now. in fact, i think the dark riders (for they are human in my au) are actually able to resist the codex and may not want to work on its behalf (though this would be strictly punishable by their leaders lol)
i'm also thinking about the og pandorians (ydris, mr. sands, darko, buck if i ever want to include him [he sucks ass tho], fripp) and their skills. they definitely have some kind of powers concerning the manipulation of reality, though it's due their connection to garnok's mind and ability to mend it at will (that guy can dream up Anything and make it come true).
shadow seekers? could these be corrupted spirits of darkstarians? since ydris, in my au, is a darkstarian "ghost", i'm thinking shadow seekers could merely be much like him, only enslaved or trapped somehow in a dangerous, shifty form. i think dc would definitely find a way to benefit from them. (also i just read the summary of some of the latter soul riders books that i have not yet read and wow wtf the plot does get really wild apparently. not sure how much of that i will be using at all)
i should really get back on the books but for some reason they're really arduous for me to get through. are there more than 6 as of now?? i mean in the series, not the extra book(s). i have every book up until aideen's gift and one extra so i have been wondering. for some reason i cannot find the information online
There are six books excluding the short stories, divided into two trilogies:
1st trilogy - Jorvik Calling, The Legend Awakens, Darkness falling
2nd trilogy - Shadows over Jorvik, Prisoned in Pandoria, Aideen's Gift
Be aware that the 2nd trilogy is supposed to be an AU and not canon-compliant, which is probably why it sounds weird to you!
girls like girls
I really like the old Alex skin, so I drew a mix of different updates <3
happy birthday to my fav girl!! april 5 baby
If there is a SINGLE (1) thing/theme/plot point/whatever have you that I wish the story even SLIGHTLY touched upon in the actual game it's the fact that all the soul riders (every single one of them, calender or year wise at the time and place of the SSO mainstory) are still below the age of 20
Like. I know we all feel like fucking legends at 20 and think we have our life together but even as someone who is turning 23 and adapted fucking fantastically to moving out at 20.
Holy shit do I wish SSO would explore the themes of growing up too quickly, both in the sense that you yourself "need to become independant" and "fault yourself for not being mature/grown-up enough yet", but also in the sense that everyone else "forgets how young you are and how you should arguably be treated as someone still finding their place in the world"
Not in the sense of hurdur child soldiers bad thing but like. It's Fun it's Interesting all of the soul riders (and arguably MC too since it's dead easy to read them as canonically YOUNGER than the soul riders in-game, i.e, 18 at best) in some sense or other "had to grow up too quickly", it's even something that Helena touches on in the books THE VERY SAME SECOND the keepers/elizabeth/fripp are introduced, cause the first thing Elizabeth says is that they're too young to take on the responsibility of the world and Need Training (they're 16 in the books ofc which makes this even more obvious) but Fripp says there is no time to train them
WHICH IS FUCKING FANTASTIC. Isn't that just fucking fun? Like that's such an obvious easy trope to fall into and explore the consequences of in the game, both because it fits your characters, and because your audience (largely of marginalized minorities in whichever way) would arguably resonate with it.
Like Idonno I could go into this more but cough cough I can and I will cough cough the point is, if there is a single trope/theme that the game has right there and still manages to just waste, this is the one I'm the most pissed about
