followers, is anyone else feeling a bit heartbroken over derek shepherd’s death?

i’m not even a huge merder fan, in large part because they were so clearly endgame & the inevitability of their relationship ultimately being a stable thing always felt a bit boring to me. (yes, i know, this feels so ironic now.)

but more recently, i really connected with meredith’s words to derek, “i can live without you, but i don’t ever want to,” as such a beautiful expression of love between two equal & interdependent (not dependent) partners … and now, it just feels like that moment was tritely used by the writers as poor foreshadowing.

when sandra oh and patrick dempsey requested to leave, the show should’ve ended with storylines that did the core characters justice. after everything meredith has gone through, she fucking deserved a happy ending. this feels gratuitous … continuing the show past its expiration point and wrecking storylines in the process.

I agree! Why the heck keep the show going? The show deserves to have a happy ending with closure, how are we going to get that?

the thing is, it shouldn’t have ended this way. it didn’t have to end this way. it was always supposed to be meredith and derek - a one night stand to married with kids. they are legends. soulmates. end of story.
