So how much is the System a character vs how much is it based on Cucumber (or I suppose some amalgamation of Cucumber’s desires and Airplane’s original plans)? Cucumber is doing a classic lying to himself move of complaining a lot about Binghe being awarded coolness points despite not having wives when he never really thought the wives were cool and is actively commenting on how cool Binghe is, but do you think the “coolness” is coming from that internal SQQ judgement of coolness, some mysterious “objective” measure, or the System’s own opinions?

SQQ as an unreliable narrator is so interesting because sometimes he’s clearly wrong and missing things, but sometimes he’s just so fixated on the original plot of the novel, which is clearly not happening here, except often it does? The System just keeps trying to push certain key events from canon, which really gives SQQ a leg up in terms of having future knowledge but does get in the way of him getting a clue about, say, it’s not that everyone wants to fuck LBH, it’s that you specifically do.
