This is an actual Therapist Recommended method for dealing with a runaway “inner critic” and this comic is perfect ❤️
Luke Cage is going to be black
Luke Cage is going to be black. And I know damn well the MCU fandom ain’t ready for it. They can’t even handle Rhodey and Sam (two black men whose stories revolve around two white faves).
But Luke Cage is going to be a show where a black man, who has no ties to any white character, is going to be dealing with his community, and his life.
The show’s going to touch on black on black crime
The N-word within the black community
Police brutality against the black community
black love
black family
and black history.
It’s going to BE black. Not the kind of black that non-black people are comfortable with, but the kind of blackness that nonblack people resent, fear, or just straight up refuse. The kind of black that makes people uncomfortable. The kind of black that says “If you ain’t black, this ain’t a convo for ya’ll.”
Luke Cage is going to be black as hell. And I can’t wait for it.

I can't
I can’t be silent any longer, the pain is unbearable and fear has formed anger, I can’t see another individual of authority get a away with a senseless act of violence, and feel confident because of their job status. I can’t listen to another “All lives matter” speech when 2 days in a row men of color have been gunned down. I can’t stomach going on social media and seeing so many people look silently at what’s happen and shed no remorse or empathy. I can’t steadily watch the body count grow, and not ask…WHY? I can’t pretend like everything’s okay knowing my people, OUR people are targets simply because of their skin. I can’t brush off these incidents, and not think its racially fueled. I can’t defend those who don’t defend me. I can’t believe this is why Christ died on the cross, Martin Luther had a dream, Rosa didn’t get off that bus, Malcolm X fought to protect, and WE stand united. I can’t watch another interview of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children crying at the loss of ones they love, and sympathize for the one who took the life. I can’t imagine the confusion within the family, nor the confession from the badge. I can’t keep yelling NO JUSTICE NO PEACE while the corner examines another black body, while forensics tapes up another murder scene, while the badge gets placed on paid leave and the victims become the villains. We matter yes WE as in African American people. We know all lives are important, but your lives aren’t at stake at traffic stops, gas stations, parks, malls or in your own home OURS are. We don’t desire a greater value for our lives we desire an EQUAL value. So understand that we need to unite for equality, justice and peace. Then maybe once and for all these senseless killings will seize. Courtney L Raino
I wish...
I wish I had the ability to express my frustration, but there aren't words to do me justice. I wish I had the force to help those around me listen and understand, but you can only lead a horse to water you cannot force it to drink. I wish those I love truly understood the true meaning of #Blacklivesmatter , but they can't get past "all lives matter". I wish they knew how I fear for my nephews, brothers, uncles, cousins lives simply based off the color of their skin, but the blindfold is on to tight. I wish I could breakdown the meaning of "No justice No peace", yet when your world isn't disturbed you don't have to hear the up roar and anger the sadness and the pain. I wish just for a little while you felt how I felt, and envisioned what I have, and pray each day someone you love or Yourself don't become a counted number or a hashtag. I wish you'd see this through my eyes and understand I don't believe my life is valued you more than yours it's just quite the opposite. I wish the system was broken and my people weren't oppressed. It's the 21st century and there is little change for US. I wish I knew why we are hated, mistreated, killed, forgotten, outcasted by some many. I wish you could stand with me and not feel judged, pressured, discriminated against or hated, but if you did have this happen it'd be a glimpse in the shoes those before us have walked in and the ones we stomp in today. I don't wish for hope I demand it, I don't wish for equality I expect it, I don't wish for justice I deserve it, I don't wish to feel loved it should be granted to us all. Courtney L Raino
♕ Will you ride the wooden horses across the black salt sea? Will you kill my enemies in their iron suits and tear down their stone houses? Will you give me the Seven Kingdoms, the gift Khal Drogo promised me, before the Mother of Mountains? Are you with me, now and always?
“Is This Healthy” is a comic that I made for an independent study in which I looked deeper into the idea of health, mental, physical, and emotional as it relates to myself.
This project was extremely personal and I thank any of you who take the time to read it

Are you saying that you can’t talk about race issues to Middle America? Are they so delicate and unaware and maybe so white that Beyoncé is too much for them?
You know what’s right in the middle of America? Ferguson, Missouri.
