Welcome to the 'Death of the Author' - a Moshang Fan comic. You are at chapter 1 part 1/2 which is a great place to start.
Summary:
Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun are finally officially courting. It should be smooth sailing now, right? Well, no. Airplane discovers a threat that can endanger the whole world's existence. A threat he is to blame for. And that is only one of his problems.
And now, onto the comic:
Chapter 1, part 1/2
Next ->
Masterpost / read on AO3
Consider tipping me on Kofi - also grants early access to the comic pages - currently at Chaper 6, part 3/10.
Thank you @emotionalmorphine for being the fantastic editor you are!
Go read and follow for updates! If you like Shang Qinghua and Moshang you will not be disappointed 😍
So, what are the kids into these days?
Why is it that whenever I have what I think is a great idea for an original work, I find that it’s already been done and loads better than mine would ever be.
Except I’ve spent all this time thinking about it and getting excited about it before finding out it’s already out there.
And there is a certain level of “it’s all been done” in the world and what we really do is rehash old stories and myths and rework them. But I mean more “hey there’s a best seller that’s come out and it’s basically my plot so…?”
*sigh* I just want a few things out of life. I haven’t accomplished nor do I have any of them.
I spend a lot of time reading original queer fiction - be it from Amazon, on AO3, or heaven forbid traditionally published - and something I find again and again is just how little time and page space is dedicated to the main pairing falling in love.
Usually they’re just In Love. They’re in love because the author tells us they’re in love. Thousands of words on how much their love means and what it gets them through, but very little actual evidence that these two characters have any real feelings for each other.
And I know that it’s a residual of fanfic writing. In fanfic you don’t need to spend a lot of time describing characters, or detailing their history with each other, even in an AU. In fanfic, the readers are explicitly there for the same thing. They know the characters, they know the pairing, and they want to get right to the good stuff.
It doesn’t work in original fiction. It’s not enough to just tell your readers that your protagonists are in love. It has to be organic, it has to be believable, and it has to be on screen.
Because some of these characters that are supposedly so in love with each other? It seems like they need to stay the F away from each other, in general.
I’ve been absolutely consumed by Stardew Valley lately. I found out I could now play it on my iPad and dived straight in. I just finished my second perfection playthrough last night. (I’m eagerly waiting for the new update which I’m hoping will come out next month and then swiftly after come to iOS.)

First two pics are my current game, all others my first game. I need to take some screenshots of my current game.
Fic Writer Asks
Thought it would be fun to make one of these myself
🫓 What is your most popular fic?
🥘 What category do most of your fics fall under?
🍲 When did you start writing and why?
🍱 Do you read your own fics?
🍛 Have any comments, tags or reactions to one of your fics every made you laugh or cry or both?
🍜 Do you ever feel pressured to write?
🍠 How long does it take you to write one of your fics or a chapter/part?
🍢 Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
🍣 What helps you focus or get in the mood to write?
🍥 What's your favorite fic you've written?
🥮 Do you have any writing milestones you're working toward?
🍡 Which of your fics was the most emotionally difficult to write?
🍘 Is there a fic or idea for a fic that you've abandoned?
🍙 Is there a fic you wish had gotten more attention?
🍚 What genre do you have the toughest time writing?
Still drowning in debt, still sick, still can’t see properly, have way too much work to do thanks to a stupid house inspection, stressed af, so tired, not enough money for food or medication or car license so can’t drive after 30th of September either. Look, stuff just sucks and the only thing’s keeping me going are my plants and fandom content.
Fandom creators, never, ever forget your impact on the world. Your work could be one of the only things someone is desperately hanging onto as life tries to pull them out to sea.
Hey y’all, I need new glasses! 👓
My prescription is out and these ones are so old the plastic is cracking.
I always get my glasses from Zenni because their prices are incredible and their glasses fantastic. But with inflation, my higher prescription + bifocals, and the weak Aussie $$, even Zenni’s prices are out of my price range.
Prince Caspian (my bunny) just ran me up $2200 for urgent vet care, on top of the $2K I owe from last time. I’m drowning in debt.
So if perhaps you could spare a few bucks to Buy Me A Coffee I would be very grateful ❤️
I know everyone is doing it tough, so please don’t feel bad if it’s not allowable on your budget. Handle your own health and comfort first, always ❤️
1, 12
I already did 1, so I did 2 instead. But you can ask another number instead if you like!
2. Go to your AO3 “Works” page, to the sidebar with all the filters, and click the drop-down arrow for “Additional Tags.” What are your top 3-5 most used tags? Do you think they accurately represent your writing habits?
Fluff - Canon Typical Violence - Other Additional Tags to be Added
These are perfect representations of my writing habits. Mostly I write fluff, or at least have very fluffy parts amongst the Canon Typical Violence. Both DA and ME are action RPGs so there’s gonna be some violence somewhere. And Other Tags to be Added is so perfect for me because I never finish anything so I’m not sure if I’ll need to add more tags or not, should I add in something I haven’t tagged yet.
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
Not really. I like a pretty wide range of things, and I think most tropes are only to be judged by the work that includes them. If the fic is not my cup of tea, then I’m not going to enjoy how it uses the trope. There are still some tropes that I’m big NO on, and others I’m kind of ambivalent towards. It all depends on the fic.
1, 3, 38!
1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)
Hmmm…well if they want to go deep dive then Sweet Little Words because it kind of has everything I would think my writing is about. For a shorter fic then You (do) Know You Want to Call (me, don’t you?) because it’s easy to pick up even if you don’t know the characters, and has a lot of the stuff I enjoy writing and usually end up putting in my fics in some way.
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
If I can shove a cute date in, then I’m doing it. There’s gonna be romance, probably a slow burn, and lots of pining. It will probably be dialogue heavy with sparing descriptions of environment or action. The plot will likely revolve around personal conflicts rather than outside issues. Almost always from a character’s POV, or multiple character’s, rarely an omniscient perspective (I actually don’t even really know how to write it).
Supernatural stuff is a big draw for me - cryptids, witches and magic, fairies, myths and legends. I’d like to write more sci-fi but I think I’m too dumb.
38. Did any of your fics get surprisingly popular (whatever that means to you)? Which ones? Why do you think they were so successful?
I don’t know about surprisingly popular because it was in the Teen Wolf fandom when it was still huge, but Rabbits Will Run had a large number of people who were really getting behind the idea. Wanted that sort of content but hadn’t really been able to find it. So I did feel pretty bad cutting it back to the first chapter as a one shot and not continuing it from there. But like I’ve said before; I had an idea and knew what I wanted to write, but didn’t know if mentally I could really handle getting into content that dark. And mental health comes first!
