“From experience…?” His words were surprising to hear; it wasn’t that he was transparent, no, Tristan had made sure of that—the boy before him was just clever, as he proved time and again. With his features now softening, a soft chuckle soon escapes him.
”Perhaps I do. … If most knights recounted their own tales… any love they might have felt… it was full of anguish, from beginning to end… and to those who were fortunate enough to find eventual happiness, it didn’t come as easily as one might think.”
"Is that so..." That's interesting, Yusuke thinks. He's never familiarized himself with most western tales of knights and what he did know was very little. "Pain and anguish can serve for good motivation and inspiration in some cases though I'm not sure the people experiencing the emotions would agree, I speak from an artistic viewpoint of course."
"Regardless, I think I would be interested in knowing of the tales that ended poorly. They make for much more interesting stories, in my opinion."
archers.
“Hm… some knights would be capable I’d presume… whilst others would not. Believe it or not, most I’ve encountered know little of true romance. Then of course… those who do… it gets rather complicated. In any case, only rarely do they live happily ever after.”
"You seem as though you speak from experience, Sir Tristan. Though I cannot say that I am familiar with your tale. I doubt reading it would be as fulfilling as hearing it from the actual person who went through such events."
archers.
“Why is it that in literature… the concept of knights in association to love is often romanticized…?”
"Knights are often seen as the most heroic of defenders, it seems only natural that people would be drawn to them when it comes to romance. It stands to assume that they would be capable in that field, perhaps."
A Draconic Muse
asernolonger.
Being as perceptive as she was after her life of never-ending struggles and woes (plus her heightened senses given her draconic body), she did notice a brief facial change. Was he somehow… confused? Could he not possibly imagine the idea of someone seeing her as a monster or some other evil being? Or was it that he couldn’t quite understand what exactly it meant to be the Warrior of Light? Griffin’s Bane? Eikon-Slayer? She’d long lost track of the multitude of titles she’d earned over time, both as just another dragoon of Ishgard and as the bloody Savior of Eorzea. Or perhaps it was something else entirely. Maybe some sort of combination of reasons. Selenie didn’t know-she didn’t know a thing about his world. The only thing she was mostly certain of is that he definitely wasn’t from hers.
And then, he shook his head in obvious disbelief. At least he seemed to grasp that his intense fascination, despite it being for an innocent-enough reason, was unnerving for someone like her.
“Honestly, at this point, I’d say it probably has more to do with what I’ve done than my looks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are still some bastards out there who take one look and think that I’m a monster without knowing anything else, but I think it has more to do with the fact I’ve slain literal gods and helped take back not one, but two nations from those Imperial bastards, among other things.” She admitted. There was some pride in her listing off her accomplishments, but her own internal turmoil and tragedy kept her from showing it beyond a noticeable change in tone. A brief fanged smile crossed her features under her helmet.
As she began to think about it, she began to wonder if Yusuke’s view of her-as some sort of “true beauty”, to quote the young man-may have more to do with the fact he was an artist. She didn’t know that much about the fine arts (she could sure as hells sing and could play a piano, but she could not work from sheet music-she instead worked from ear followed by trial and error), but she did know that anything was possible. Even the idea of portraying what looked to be a monster as some sort of diamond in the rough was not necessarily outside the realm of reason, she supposed.
His intentions were innocent enough, and, besides, should he try anything, she was sure she could take him with ease. Her claws and fangs were still quite sharp, after all. What was the harm in indulging him a little bit? It wasn’t like there were any primals to deal with, nor any sign of the Empire being a threat here. Besides, it was nice to just be able to relax and be painted instead of having to go soaring off to deal with some new threat that only she, as the legendary Warrior of Light, could deal with. She would never completely let her guard down, for that would be foolish, but she didn’t need to be as tense as she would be if she were to be forced to fight that mad prince again.
“Well, I sure as hells hope not!” She said, though her now-devious smirk and shift in posture made it plain that she was merely being playful. She was sure she wouldn’t regret it. If anything, it made her happy that she could help this young man with something so simple.
But gods, was he clearly proving to be the type to wax poetic. It made her laugh.
“I’m no artist myself, so who in the hells would I be to judge? I’m sure you’ll do great. If anything, you’ve got the passion, and that’s half the battle. Who knows-maybe even Aymeric would be interested in buying some copies to hang up around Ishgard to help people continue to understand that not all dragons are evil-help prevent a second Dragonsong War from starting. He’s got more art sense than I do by malms, however!” She told him.
She then began to think, pacing back and forth a bit.
“Hm… getting to know me, huh? Well, I sadly don’t have my true spear with me, and whatever powers rule this strange land have managed to seal off most of my trademark dragoon abilities, so there may not be much to actually show….” A brief pause, and then, she stopped, turning back to face him.
“But I could tell you some of my stories! There’s a little bit of everything, since I’ve dealt with a whole carriage-load of shite! Would that help you at all?” She proposed. After all, there wasn’t too much she did on the island currently outside of flying about and occasionally stopping in open areas to self-train, so surely telling him any number of stories, ranging from her first-ever encounter with a primal to the time she finally bested Zenos in the palace, and then their prompt battle with him commanding Shinryu like the draconic primal was some sort of magitek device and her unleashing all she had, taking place in that odd space that the prince had seemingly created for the sole purpose of a “private stage” for them to fight to the death on…
Oh, that last one might serve to inspire him for years to come. That tale might just be the one to tell. It truly was an experience, after all.
@emperortype
Really, the more Selenie speaks to him, the much more interesting she becomes. Yusuke cannot even begin to fathom the spectacular feats that she says that she has accomplished. It all seems rather surreal, honestly. But he knows better by now that such things are not to be unexpected in a city that was a huge cultural melting pot such as this. Many people from different worlds came together and though they all looked different, most of them were the same on the inside. They were all people from different walks of life, though some had suffered more than others, that much was clear.
To have slain Gods and restored two nations to their former glory, no one in their right mind would take what she says for a fact. Most would be skeptical of her claims but Yusuke accepts it all. After all, there's no reason for him to doubt anything that she says. With such a unique appearance, her experiences fit the bill of what he considers to be acceptable and so he listens on to her vague explanations, hanging on every word with the interest of someone who will never in his life get to experience them except the account of someone who was there. Truly, they haven't even begun to get to know each other in as much detail as he'd like, but this will do just fine for a start. Though at her mention of one of her comrades wanting to buy copies, well, he hadn't thought that far ahead...or even considered that fact that someone would want to buy his art or at least this particular piece in general.
"...If someone whom you are close to wishes to own a copy for themselves, I am sure something can be arranged." He supposes, anyhow. He's not fully keen on the idea of there being multiple copies flying about of what he will consider to be his own personal masterpiece, but if it's what she wanted and if she were fine with it then who was he to deny anyone? Besides, it could be good publicity...more than the small amount that he's had. Sketches had only gotten him so far and he wasn't intending to let this opportunity pass him by. It's a shame however that she isn't in possession of her weapon or most of her abilities as he's sure that would make for good additions to the portrait, but he'll make due.
"They would, yes." Stories would be just fine. They can serve quite a bit of inspiration and were also a way of getting to know her personally. "Through your stories, I will be able to create something more authentic and true to your personality. I already have vague ideas about what it is exactly that I wish to do, but yes, knowing of your personal experiences will be a huge help, Miss Selenie." As much as he'd like to pick her brain now, though, there were be plenty of other opportune times for them to discuss at length everything that she felt comfortable sharing with him.
"If I may...would you be comfortable in giving me your address? We will be seeing a lot of each other from this moment on, of course, you will have mine as well. I would ask for your number but as you may already well know, we have a directory on our devices and your name should be quite easy to find."

The only way to get through someone is to just talk. Talk and talk until they decide to provide attention to the speaker. It’s almost hard to ignore someone so persistent that would drive one’s focus away from their work to acknowledged the teen speaking. of course, he has his own reasons why he would be speaking. it isn’t as if he wanted the other to think that ill of him, but if he said nothing, there was no chance the other would speak up.
So of course describing the scenery that the artist could clearly see would be enough to draw his attention away from the drawing pad and towards him. That’s good enough. Monoma’s expression didn’t change too much, keeping a lazy smile before continuing. “Whether a conversation is going great or poor, the point in the end is that i reached my goal; you finally responding to me. At least you didn’t take longer then I thought. You only appear to be the quiet type and wanted to break that mold if you are. So i believe a thank you should be in order.”
Of course, he wasn’t expecting anything like that from a total stranger, but he was curious about the other’s art. “At least i provided an impression you’ll remember. Good or bad is always up for the viewer to decide. However, i’m not here to completely be on your bad side. I was just wondering what you were drawing there. See, when an artist comes out to the public to draw, it’s almost as if they are begging for someone to come by and see what they are doing, so i am that curious person wanting to see what caught your interest to go out of your way and start drawing.”
Right, so, he was one of those types of people. The one who constantly bothers others without a care in the world, only wishing to satisfy their own curiosity. Usually, Yusuke was adept at avoiding these types and more often than not they were quickly disenchanted with his cold tone once he acknowledged them. This boy, however, proves to be different. He is persistent, not showing the slightest disinterest despite Yusuke's bitter attitude towards him. What he says is the real kicker. As far as Yusuke's opinion on this conversation, it was going very, very poorly. He didn't appreciate the attempts in getting him to speak and curses himself for taking the bait.
"Remembered, yes, but not in a good light. How you approach someone decides everything. You've not only managed to make a horrible impression but you've also interrupted my work." Not that it could really be called work. It was nothing special, just something he'd been sketching to pass the time and it had come out decently well. "You are much too full of yourself to be able to understand an artist's way of thinking. Everything you just said could not be more wrong." But...considering his sketchbook is already able to be seen, there's no use trying to hide what it is that he's been sketching.
"...It's a practice piece." He holds it down enough for the other to see. Various sketches of flowers and trees in detail. Nothing too special, but still pretty awe-inspiring to someone who didn't know how to draw at all.

Unfortunate as it were, she could hardly agree with justifying the lengths to which some would go. Indeed, there was inevitable imbalance, yet why was it there be no apparent grounds for cooperation, even if each could gather points for themselves alone? To rely on one with power might allow for the more desperate to gain significant opportunities. Lingering on her lips was the frown stoic. “Truly, it is a cruel so-called game into which we have been thrust, yet resorting to betrayal makes only more dangerous the field. If it were a matter of just those in need of the average; among us, there is undoubtedly those who might hunt the perceived weaker for mere sport. Corrupt by their power as much as a lack thereof might force the hand of someone else. you yourself seem removed from the angle altogether — it is that which we need most”.
She speaks wisely beyond her years and exudes an aura that reminds him of someone else that he knows. Though now is not the time to think of such things, he wonders if there is any connection between the two of them. Perhaps in a less dire situation, he'll have to broach the subject. For now, though, the task at hand was evident and she has made it quite clear in this short amount of time that they have spoken that she is not someone who would take the life of others. She is an ally and for now, Yusuke will place his trust in her. "Of course. It's unfortunate that others can't seem to grasp the gravity of the situation while under pressure. It will result in needless lives being lost...but maybe if we work together, we can save those who have enough reason in them to listen."

though minato doesn’t like to stare, he’d admittedly spent quite a while watching this guy try to use one of the netpups as a drawing tablet. it was pretty funny, actually, though it might be kind of mean to say he’d gotten a lot of entertainment out of watching the guy get increasingly frustrated at the dog(?)’s inability to just sit and let him draw on its … face? which is understandable, he guesses. if he had a drawing tablet for a head, he wouldn’t take too nicely to someone trying to draw on him, either. they kind of remind him of koromaru, in a way. but more energetic.
❝ i guess i just don’t question it much, ❞ he replies after a quiet huff of amusement. this place was weird, sure, but he’s just taken it in stride. if this is what the afterlife was like, after all, then it could be a lot worse. he doesn’t know what he’d expected, but it hadn’t been this.
turning his attention back to the other boy, he tilts his head slightly. ❝ have you seen the giant rabbits? in the cotes ward … they’re seriously huge. ❞
That's a fair answer, he supposes. It was probably better to take most things in this city in stride. Animals with various tablets and televisions for heads wasn't exactly considered normal by any means. But what purpose did they serve, other than just existing? Everything seemed to have a meaning in this city...and yet here they were, no underlying meanings as far as he could figure. But that's enough of that. At the mention of the rabbits in Cotes Ward does Yusuke noticeably grimace. "...I know of them." And he shudders at the thought, remembering something that he wishes he could forget.
"I tried taking one home for myself and was swarmed by the others. A terrible incident, it was. They did not take kindly to me trying to whisk away their friend for my artistic purposes...I had to let it go or else they would not let me leave." It was scary. "Who knew that rabbits of all creatures could be so vicious..."

Sasuke took a step back from the wooden dummy he’d been using to train, and then he rolled his shoulder as the stranger spoke. He gave the other a brief glance, just long enough to get a read on him. Ah, he seemed fine, but the foxes…those mischievous little things. “Heh..” Sasuke let out a quiet chuckle as he caught his breath.
Yusuke wouldn’t be the first person to stumble upon Sasuke training, and he certainly wouldn’t be the last. So with that in mind, the teen ninja was used to people ogling him while he trained. At first it was irritating, but eventually he learned to work with it. “Yeah, the bamboo grove is a popular spot for training.” He gestured towards a nearby path that led back into the thicket. “Down that way there’s a group of samurai that uses this area too. I’m not the only one.” He just picked a more desolate area.
"Oh? I guess that's not surprising, hindsight." It was a secluded area, after all. Hidden from the eyes of people who did not usually venture into the grove it was perfect for those who worked better by their lonesome or simply wanted the same as any other person who worked better alone. "It is surprising, though, that you haven't joined them. Training is best done with an actual partner to keep your skills sharp, they say." A dummy could only work for so long and provide little challenge. Still, that's none of Yusuke's business, just an observation he's made.
He settles down to sit on one of the nearby rocks, chin in hand as he watches the other. "You know of them, don't you? The foxes from the village. Perhaps they sent me to make sure that you weren't getting into any trouble. I don't see why else they would mention that there was someone nearby. They hardly speak to me otherwise."
riskgambler.
“Something to give a gift for. If ever i could see one those people i knew dearly arrived in this place.” She only used that as an excuse so that she can offer a present to someone. Let it be Mary, Ryota, Midari nor anyone from Hyakkaou which was her world. Also she will use it as an exchange for her gambles.
“If there is worth an exchange on a gamble, i won’t mind using it as a bet.” Yumeko was aware that ‘Dust’ can’t be exchanged, let be material items used as a catalyst for her gambles.
He first explanation makes sense. Although he can't see why she'd want anyone she cared about being here in this city, it made sense at least. Though when she mentions gambling, Yusuke can't help but raise an eyebrow, curious about why exactly she'd need items to bet in gambling.
"...Aren't you a bit young to be a gambler?" To be at such a young age and faced with that sort of addiction, how tragic indeed.

garou is still not sure why he’s even bothering with this. the quests had seemed like a good way to ensnare a hero and carry on with his goal – but then he’d ended up skimming the lists and felt (what, exactly?) maybe the slightest bit of disgust, though for who, after seeing this particular listing stay up for several days unanswered and unfulfilled, he couldn’t tell. he’s been wandering throughout the kingdoms anyhow, criss-crossing borders without a care and knocking out whoever is fool enough to come after him, so eventually he does end up in xalphina.
he ends up caught in one of her pranks, of course; it’s a variation on the ‘bucket over the door’ deal, except there’s no door, no water, and a flurry of knives involved. were it not for what little remained of his reflexes, he might have ended up full of holes. it would have been shameful considering what he’d already survived.
and now here he was, arguing with the little brat. she’s about as inhuman as the board said, but with the surprising twist that she’s almost exactly like a human child, if not even more obnoxious. still, the temper tantrum she’s throwing is hardly fazing him.
<<Listen, you little brat. Sooner or later, you’re going to get in some serious trouble, and then – >> he’s been so engrossed in dealing with this little gremlin-or-whatever that he doesn’t even notice someone’s snuck up on him until he feels the tap on his shoulder, and whirls about with an appropriate level of menace.
<<Who the hell are you?>> he sighs, more out of frustration than anything. like he needs another pain in the ass to show up and get in his business. <<Look, I just happened to run into the kid along the way. Feel free to try reasoning with that whiny little – >> it’s then she kicks him in one of his knees from behind. were he anyone else, he might have gone down like a ragdoll, but instead he pivots and grabs her by the shoulder, firmly but not enough to actually hurt. she starts wailing, of course.
god, he hates kids.
It's to be expected that she's unruly. Really, children were all the same in the end. Especially those of the mischievous type. While he's certain that the lecture is good-intentioned and that the other really does want for her to stop, lest she gets involved with some less than savory people who wouldn't be so forgiving of her antics, his wording is much too harsh for a child. Intimidation wouldn't get either of them anywhere with her, that much is clear. Not that Yusuke is good with children either, but he hadn't come into thinking that he could use brute force and callous speech.
At her wails, he coils back for a moment, unsure of exactly what to do. It's clear that the other is being much too rough with her though and so he quickly comes up with a plan of action. Crouching down before her, placing a hand on the shoulder that was not gripped, Yusuke looks her directly in the eye and puts a finger to his lips in signal for her to quiet down. Slowly, but surely, she does. Her cries soften to small hiccups and a runny nose and lots of incoherent babbling about how she had just wanted to have a little fun with others that entertained her. Yusuke doesn't say anything, just looks up at Garou and speaks, "Let go of her so that the three of us may speak properly." As he says so, the girl promises not to run away from them in between small sobs.
"Force isn't the only way to handle children. Speaking to them can do just as good, if not better." He speaks as though he has the experience, but really he's just as clueless as what to do and is simply following the course of action that he thinks should be done here. After all, she is just a child. This should be a rather simple task.

Everything had gone white. Their surroundings, the sky, only the people who stood to fight against the demon lord were what was left of the fantasy realm. But no one faltered. At the sounding of many signals did the battle finally start. No longer was Yusuke part of the fantasy world, his appearance had reverted back to normal and his clothing had been appropriately replaced with the familiar attire he had come to know so well. Katana in hand, he leapt forth into the fray without so much as a second thought, cutting down any enemy in his path. It worked for a while, but he had quickly grown careless of his surroundings and just as a creature is about to slash at his neck, a single arrow pierces through its body. Yusuke, in shock, looks toward his savior who stood not too far away, bow in his hand. "--Sir Tristan."
He stops for a moment, speechless before breathing a sigh of relief. "...You have my thanks."

WITCHES BE TRIPPIN’ | SPIRAZON GROCERY DELIVERY A Faekin witch in Xalphina has been playing vicious pranks on the locals. It started out as harmless, but now someone could really get hurt! She’s only a young girl, so please just try and talk her out of continuing her pranks.
As he looks down at the quest description he'd hastily written down before going on his way, Yusuke wonders just how exactly he's going to convince a small child to tone down their mischief. Also, now that he thinks about it...with all the strange looks he seems to be getting as he wanders aimlessly on the outskirts of the kingdom, maybe taking this task hadn't been the greatest of ideas. Still, he's here now and it'd be a waste to walk all the way back to Airaisal without anything to show for it. Thankfully, though, it doesn't take him much longer to find the specified target of interest.
A small home comes into view, but it is much to his surprise that he sees two people in front of it that seemed to be having a conversation. One was much smaller and petite, with small butterfly wings and pale skin that seemed to make her glow. The other, a much taller man, seemed to be speaking with her. As Yusuke neared closer, it became very apparent that he'd been beaten to his task...except not. She did not seem to be listening to him, pouting and kicking her feet in defiance as he assumingly asked her to stop. Having been able to surmise what's going on in some sort of capacity, Yusuke taps the man's shoulder and waits for him to turn his attention before whispering in a low voice, "Perhaps you may want to rethink your strategy."

A Draconic Muse
asernolonger:
She couldn’t help but wonder what was going on in the young man’s head. Was he not familiar with Ishgard or Elezen? The former wasn’t too outside the realm of reason for a resident of her world-if one had never spent much time in Eorzea, one might not be aware of the snowbound city-state. But there were Elezen littered throughout the entire world of Hydaelyn, so if he didn’t know what an Elezen was, then surely, he wasn’t from her world. Neither the Echo nor the Blessing of Light gave her the ability to read thoughts, however, so she couldn’t be certain….
And then, she realized he seemed to be outright awestruck by her appearance. Even more than the wide-eyed Doman refugee children. Had he truly never seen someone who resembled her? To be fair, someone with actual wings upon their back was a bit foreign, but the Au Ra were a thing, and they had scales, horns, and a tail (granted, not nearly as many scales as she had, nor did they have pointed ears, but hybrid children could have features of both parents, right? Hilda was proof of that), and besides, when you slay bloody gods for a living, people tend to respect you and not necessarily pry, save for those special few who usually met the same fates as the gods. But that was all besides the point.
He didn’t pry. Thank the Fury, she thought. He was respectful enough of her privacy. She couldn’t really judge him properly yet, but he at least seemed to be a bit of a gentleman… outside of the odd behavior he’d just demonstrated. She still wasn’t certain what the cause of that was. It was amusing, however.
“Yusuke, huh? Easy enough to remember, I suppose. Nice to meet you.” She mused. Defintely a Far Eastern-sounding name, but thankfully, one that wasn’t too long or hard to pronounce.
And then… well, he outright confirmed her suspicions. They couldn’t be from the same world. He’d just never seen anything like her before, and was completely and utterly amazed by her appearance. Better to have someone be amazed and like the way she looks than demonize her for it, she figured. She couldn’t help but laugh a bit.
“Hey, hey, it’s all good! You’re fine! You’re not trying to kill me, and you’re at least being honest about it. I’ll take someone being amazed at my appearance over wanting to kill me for it any day!” She assured, still laughing a bit…
And then, he just outright asked if she wanted to be painted. That explained everything. She burst into full-on laughter for a good few minutes, before finally settling down.
“Ah, now I get it! You got all inspired because of how I look!” She realized, struggling to hold back happy tears, though a few sounds escaped her. She couldn’t recall any time someone had been inspired by her looks alone. Her deeds, maybe, but her looks? Never before. It made her feel a joy she’d never felt before. The joy of being accepted for how she looked. That she didn’t have to hide it behind her armor. She took off her helmet, placing it under her arm.
“Young man, you can’t possibly imagine what that means to me. The fact you are not just impressed, but actually want to paint me as I am… no one’s ever asked me that before. I’m all for it… if you don’t mind the fact I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. The closest I’ve ever come to art is singing and playing the piano, though I can only learn by ear. If you’re okay with that… I’ll gladly let you paint me.” She agreed.
@emperortype
There is a brief look of confusion that crosses his features as she explains that she much prefers this eccentric type of behavior over someone wanting to kill her. That anyone would want to do someone such as her harm is something he cannot fathom. Though, he supposes, that's just like humanity to disregard the wellbeing of someone who challenges their perception of what is and isn't normal. Selenie does not look human and he had already surmised that she was not human either. But as an artist, he appreciates her for what she is. From an artistic viewpoint--and even a sensical one--she should be an object of curiosity rather than someone's hate.
Yusuke shakes his head, in disbelief. Though she laughs, it's easy to tell that she's a bit uncomfortable with this newfound interest even if it were positive. "People wish to do you harm...? I expect nothing less of people who do not understand true beauty." And true beauty she was. Perhaps not in the conventional sense and maybe she did seem a bit scary looking to others. To Yusuke, though, such things did not exist. He simply saw her as he wanted to see her. That would continue to be true despite what others may think.
Thankfully, she eventually returns the sentiment and sees that his intentions are harmless. That he merely wishes to look upon her for inspiration. An inspiration that he had long since forgotten could overwhelm him. While he had been prepared to plead his case to her if she refused, he can't help but feel relieved that she's accepted and even seems enthusiastic about being painted. He breathes a sigh of relief, having been holding his breath the entire time as he awaited her answer. It seemed things were finally looking up and that this rate, he may very well have something to show for all of his struggles in this city!
"You will not regret agreeing to allow me to do this, I assure you." He clutches his drawing materials close to his chest as he nods his head toward her excitedly. That it means so much to her for him to be interested in doing something like this gives him a very strong motivation to properly do her justice in all that she is. "I will paint a portrait like no other. The city will be aware of just who you are when they lay eyes on you, this I promise. No longer will you be someone that is looked upon in disdain, they will love you."
"I am fine with that. You do not need to worry about not possessing any artistic skills. A muse simply sits and serves as inspiration for the artist. While I'm certain that I would be able to paint something extraordinary by your looks alone, I think getting to know you would allow me to paint something even more wonderous." It's a lot to ask for, but he does not back down in saying this. Whether or not she'd be comfortable with him...being around her for a majority of her time for a good while until he's satisfied is up to her. "I ask that you allow me to accompany you. As much as I would strive to be in your presence as much as I possibly can, I will settle for what makes you comfortable."

◤ she’s heard some rumors, but thus far mamizou has seen nothing concrete in regards to this lake. admittedly, what she has heard is promising – surely any kappa wouldn’t be fool enough to challenge a bake-danuki if it knew anything worth a darn.
‘creatures, huh? can’t imagine they got anything wilder than what’s already up and walkin’ the rest of the island.’ her tone is as boisterous as ever, though she does take a few steps back out of courtesy to the young man who’s engaged her.
‘can’t say i’m not the tiniest bit curious about what’s really goin’ on down there besides the castle.’ she peers back out across the lake, eternally shrouded in fog despite the sunshine out today, then looks back to the young man with a slightly mischievous glint in her eyes. ‘what about you? don’t you wonder just a little bit what’s really down there?’
That makes two of them that are curious about what exactly goes on at the bottom of this lake. Yusuke has heard the rumors as well. While some are obviously falsified reports in an attempt to bring attention to the lake, surely there must be some with some truth to them. Just how much truth, though, he's not entirely sure. This is why he opts to be careful and assumingly she does, too. "I do. Though not enough to put my life in jeopardy. I have a much better way of seeing if my suspicions are true." From his pocket does he retrieve a small bottle labeled 'fish food'. It's rather predictable and unlikely to work but he's determined to try it all the same.
"They say giant koi fish make their home at the bottom of the lake...shall we not see if there is indeed truth to that claim?" He does not wait for her answer, just opens his bottle and tosses it as far as he can manage. It lands a good distance away from the shore and takes only a moment to sink underwater without any resistance. Yusuke waits. One, two, five minutes pass without any abnormalities and at this point, he's ready to call his experiment a bust.
That is until bubbles begin to surface from the area the bottle had sunk. Cautiously, Yusuke takes a few steps back while keeping a close eye on the bubbles that now grew stronger and more plentiful. "...It's coming." He says, eyes widening at the scene before him. From above the lake's surface does a giant fin break through and soon after a pair of eyes could be seen just above the water. It seems there was truth to those rumors after all. Giant koi fish do indeed exist.
Yusuke is, as expected a fox beastkin. His appearance is largely based off of this beautiful piece, so that is how he’ll look for the event’s duration. The tails do move of their own accord because he’s not quite used to having them yet. Not much has changed height-wise, though he may be a bit hard to recognize unless you’re really familiar with him considering his skin has paled to bone white, nearly completely drained of color. He holds no occupation and his current allegiance ( by force, mostly ) belongs to the Kingdom of Airaisal.
As far as abilities go, he retains his persona along with a steel sword. He does not use magic because he doesn’t think that he’ll need to, which may cause some strange shenanigans when he finally decides to give any of the spells a try.
