//So out of curiosity, where did you get Ms. Busybody being married to Stingy's dad from? I couldn't find any info on that anywhere and was super curious.

SO! This is actually one of MANY headcanons that has no existing proof in L.azyTown.

My husband and I have been rewatching all of L.azyTown together, and at one point, we started talking about Stingy and what his parents must be like. At first, the idea was that the Mayor might be his dad because Stingy feels entitled to ALL of L.azyTown (as though he believes that his parent "owns" it, therefore it is also his). Then we realized that Miss B.usybody actually kind of exemplifies what a parent of a spoiled brat would be like, and we kind of went from there.

There's actually a TON of moments from the show that stand out through this lens. Off the top of my head, there's this one scene where Stingy stops playing sports with the kids because he accidentally knocked the ball into Miss B.usybody's yard. There's also a ton of interactions between them that lowkey scream family to me? Also, even if Stingy ALSO calls her "Bessie" or "Miss B.usybody," that could totally be some rich kid shit where he HAS to call her by a proper name and not "mom."

All of this is definitely stretching, but I honestly just think it's a really funny idea, especially with L.azyTown Extra, where Milford acts like a father figure for Stingy in EVERY segment. He's been upgraded from a "will they won't they" affair to Stingy's soon-to-be step-dad. I don't know whether to feel sorry or happy for him lmao

watching l.azytown extra now so i need to liveblog more of mine & my husband's headcanons

l.azytown extra takes place an extra year after the events of l.azytown season 4

miss busybody has Officially divorced stingy's dad, so now the mayor is trying to be a good stepfather to him

back in l.azytown season 3, robbie used his animator (the thing that turns dolls to real people) to bring back stephanie (because, y'know, her actress changed) and trick everyone into a long-con. both he AND new-stephanie forgot about this plan, leading to episodes like "who's who?" where he makes an EVIL stephanie clone

stephanie came back just before the events of extra and had a "what the fuck is happening" moment because there were two of her

stephanie also went to dance school for REAL and came back famous, hence how she is able to get background dancers who match her outfits/hair

this child has contamination ocd for real I SWEAR TO GOD (i'm allowed to say that as somebody who suffers from it :')) but seriously the whole "you have to wash JUST YOUR HANDS?" and "let MY sink get dirty??? no thanks" are so ocd-core i'm going batshit

ok i can't get over the ocd thing this is actually such a perfect representation of it. there's another segment where stingy is like "i CAN'T go outside or use ANY of my belongings outside because it's dirty!" which is such an (unintentionally?) perfect way to kinda illustrate what contamination ocd is like

you have a "clean" world that is safe for you to inhabit and another world that's "dirty." people with contamination ocd do NOT like to mix the two. they can only do certain "dirty" things if they view themselves as "contaminated," and when they are clean, they need to be in a clean spot. same goes for their belongings, which is why they avoid having their clean items touch anything dirty and vice versa. i suffer from it and i'm STILL doing a bad job of explaining it, so here's a better-written excerpt:

Oh, this kid was a riot. She was gonna have a fun time hanging around him! He was pretty annoying, but she was all right with that. Kids tended to be pretty annoying in general, and between her rats and all of the kids she'd provided her 'guidance' to over the ages, she was used to it. At least she was clearly annoying him, too! She stifled a little laugh behind the palm of her hand at his over the top reaction, not wanting to laugh at him out right. She wanted to tease and annoy him a bit, sure, but she didn't want the poor kid to think she was doing it in a purely mean-spirited manner.

"Oh yeah, you don't know, okay, so here's the deal, kiddo- I can't die." She patted Ratginald's head one more time, and he took the cue to scurry back into her hood. "I think I got sick once, but not from the plague. I had this really rancid burrito from Taco Bell and felt like I was dying. I just never did. I'm serious about the fleas, though!" She wagged her finger, like a parent discouraging their child. "What kinda books you reading from in school? Because if they're still blaming rats, they're probably suuuuper outdated!"

She simply gave a shrug at the kid's accusation about her stealing. "They weren't using it! Their stuff probly woulda gone to waste if I hadn't taken it, so if you ask me, I was doing them a favour!"

❝ You can't die? Really? ❞ [The question was asked with haughty skepticism; she was clearly pulling his leg. Nobody could live forever. Unless -- ]

[Half-lidded eyes widened as he realized an ALTERNATE solution -- she must have heard about his secret to eternal life!! But how? Ever since Mayor Meanswell disapproved of his idea ( and also after he'd disregarded the mayor's advice, tried, and failed to convince children around the world to give over their candy ), he hadn't mentioned it. He was RIGHT -- he always was -- but he wondered how somebody else could have drawn the same conclusion that he did.]

❝ How did you find out the secret to eternal life? ❞ [Stingy squinted accusatorily, entirely forgetting that his "eternal life" segment had been aired on national television thanks to Pixel. It was entirely possible that she'd heard it there, or even come up with her own thesis, but that idea had been HIS.]

[Thankfully, after her ridiculous assertion, she patted her rat, who subsequently receded into her jacket. Stingy shuddered at the sight; how was she NOT disturbed by her filthy "pets?" She then continued her silly little "rats weren't responsible for the plague" tirade, blaming his school's "outdated" material for his "flawed" knowledge on the matter. His father OWNED the school! They'd only have the fanciest, newest, MODERN schoolbooks. If fleas were responsible, he would know about it.]

❝ From my LATEST EDITION history textbook, DUH. ❞ [To be fair, they were textbooks for second-graders -- there probably wasn't much nuance in them.] ❝ They cuh-learly state that RATS were the cause of the plague. ❞

[Stingy gave a contemplative pout as she explained her justification for stealing; okay, that actually sounded REASONABLE. Stingy was always talking about taking ownership of his friends' belongings if they ever went missing or died...]

❝ Hrmmm...okay. That sounds reasonable. What kind of stuff did you get? Do you still have it? ❞ [Don't do it, Melanie. He WILL steal it from you -- y'know, if any of it is worthwhile.]

[Alas, Dave's plan was foolproof; Stingy hopped up and down on his lamentably tiny feet, then huffed and puffed when he could not, in fact, reach HIS toy.]

[Stingy shook with juvenile rage as the purple bully taunted him, insisting that he needed legal paperwork to prove ownership. Thankfully, Stingy was not fooled -- his father was a LAWYER, so he would KNOW if there was a legal precedent here. Still...maybe he should consult his father about this alleged documentation later -- just to make sure that his toys were never taken from HIM.]

"Oh, man." She laughed, perhaps a bit too loud considering this kid sounded pretty serious. But that's what made it so funny. She was about to diss this poor kid sooo hard. "Were you even around for the black plague? Because I was. That shit-" Uh oh, irresponsible adult alert. She was a MOM, she had to do better. Even if this kid was a fucking brat. "Sorry,that stuff- don't say bad words- spread from fleas, not my little babies!" As if by cue, one of her 'children' scurried its way from where it was previously nestled inside her hood and onto her shoulder.

"Hey, Ratginald." She gave him a little scritch behind the ear. "I was just telling Preppy over here how fun the black plague was. You woulda loved it." It was unclear if she was talking to the rat or the kid. "Everyone was so sick that they weren't paying attention to their stuff. Best free shopping spree I ever had. And the people that weren't sick ran away the second I asked if they wanted to pet any of my kids!"

[Stingy growled under his breath as the girl mocked him; worse yet, she LIED to him about her presence during the black plague. Please. Unless she was ancient or a time-traveler, there was no way that was possible -- but then again, Stingy HAD seen time travel in action before...]

[He didn't have long to fret over that, though -- a loud, offended GASP escaped him as she swore. Did she have no manners?? As he opened his mouth to correct her, she instead corrected herself. Good enough, for NOW, but he wouldn't hesitate to lecture her if she slipped up again.]

[Again, she insisted on her "babies" -- disgusting -- being framed for the plague, blaming fleas for the illness' spread instead. Having recently learned a ( somewhat flawed )version of the plague's events in HIS school, he knew better! Clearly, her education had been flawed -- considering that she befriended VERMIN instead of people, that much should have already been obvious.]

❝ HUMPH. As if you ACTUALLY lived through the plague -- perhaps if you did, you would know how horrible those mangy beasts of yours are. ❞ [He pointed at the little creature, then shuddered and dusted off his shoulder -- as if one of her rats had scurried over to him, too.] ❝ I may not have been around for the plague, but I LEARNED about it. The rats made EVERYBODY sick -- and if you had been there, let alone befriended those little monsters, you would have been part of the body count. ❞

[Stingy yelped as one of her hideous "babies" scurried onto her shoulder, nearly retching as she scratched it behind the ear. How could she stand being in such close proximity to those little MONSTERS? Not only that, but now she was talking to IT instead of HIM. She even admitted, in so few words, that she was a thief -- a sentiment that Stingy could...possibly relate to, were he a tad more self-aware.]

❝ Ah-HEM! I am RIGHT HERE. ❞ [Stingy exaggeratedly gestured to himself, tapping his foot impatiently. Really, she'd rather be in a rat's company than his?] ❝ Ri-diculous. There was no fun in the plague. AND you took things that didn't even belong to you? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Disgraceful. ❞ [At least Stingy only took things that, in his mind, belonged to him!]
