Meghan Markle Leaves Prince Harry at Invictus Games to Return Home to Children
Meghan Markle spent five days supporting Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Canada before returning to California to be with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver on February 8, 2025. Meghan had always planned to leave early, after spending several days by her husbandâs side at the event, which honors wounded, injured, and sick veterans.
âThis was always planned. Meghan is going home to be with her children,â a source revealed to Daily Mail. âShe was there to support Prince Harry, but this was part of the plan.â
Meghanâs Early Departure
Before leaving, Meghan participated in a tubing event with friends and family in Whistler. Later that afternoon, she departed, leaving Harry to present medals for alpine skiing.
Though she had to say goodbye to Harry and the event, Meghan admitted to missing her children during her time at the games. She was spotted holding a seven-month-old baby during a wheelchair basketball game in Vancouver, where she expressed how much she missed her own children.
âShe said she was a very happy baby. She said her kids were at home and she missed them and she was excited to see a baby that was so happy,â Cynthia Phelps, one of the attendees, shared with The Telegraph.
Affection on Display and a Powerful Message
The couple, who arrived in Vancouver on Friday, stayed at one of the city's most luxurious hotels. Over the weekend, they attended various events such as wheelchair basketball and curling. Their affection for each other was visible when they shared a kiss during the opening ceremony at BC Place Stadium.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Prince Harry shared a powerful message. âAt this moment, when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, and no lack of weak moral character in the world, the values you embodyâyour courage, resilience, and humanityâilluminate a path forward for us all,â he said. His comments about "lack of moral character" followed former US President Donald Trumpâs criticism of his marriage and controversial remarks regarding deportation.
