The problem with kids media is even the adults writing with a vivid memory of their childhood are still looking back with a sense of 'I was such an idiot back then' or 'those problems were so unimportant compared to what I dealt with later' and if they aren't careful that disdain for their past self becomes disdain for the child reader and the kids can tell.
