Uhhhh, this guy consumed my life. I project onto characters HARD to fill in information gaps about them. So Pyro, who was already in the realm of characters I relate to (considered childlike yet scary) who is basically a blank slate has become my little vessel of headcanons.
-Pyro is not human. Pyro doesn’t know what they are exactly, but not human
-Pyro is Agender in the same way I am. That is to say, it does not see gender identity as the same thing as physical gender, and they themselves do not identify as a gender. They are comfortable in their skin and either any pronouns, that’s all that matters to it.
-Pyro’s brain, due to him not being human, is not a normal human brain. It functions almost the exact same way as a human with ASD’s brain does, with one or two exceptions.
-Pyro isn’t actually speaking most of the time, just saying vocal stims. Sometimes they’re speaking, but not always.
-Engineer, upon finding out Pyro couldn’t read, proceeded to give Pyro lessons on reading, literature, math, science, and finance at literally every opportunity.
-Pyro is very intelligent. They have excellent reasoning skills and learn quickly.
-the exception is Pyroland. Pyro’s species, if in danger at a young age, will mask everything to seem more gleeful and allow themselves to defend themselves without restraint. Normally this wears off after a month or two.
-Pyro ran away and lived in the mountains and forest for a while. Thanks to the near constant danger, their hallucinations never stopped. They do flicker on and off occasionally though, so the goggles on their mask simply provide the fantasy constantly, to lessen the strain on Pyro’s mind
-Pyro sees its flamethrowers and such as magical joy-spreaders. They have immense knowledge of fire and pyrotechnics, just only through the lens of gasoline being liquid sunshine. They learned all this through immense trial and error while living in old abandoned farmhouses and trailer parks.

-Pyro’s mother was an alien that crash landed in a farmer’s backyard. The farmer, being a monsterfucker, proceeded to rape Pyro’s mother. When Pyro was born they had no visible sex organs, as their species only develop external sex organs at age 15.
-Pyro’s mother did not survive the birth. Pyro was locked up in the house for her entire life until, at age 6, his father began using them as a freak to show off at parties and beat.
-Eventually, After only about three parties, Pyro’s defense mechanism kicked in. He ran away into the living room, started to hallucinate, then burnt down the house and murdered her father and their father’s friends.

So, humility has messed up my self esteem for YEARS.
every time I felt proud of something, for my entire life, every single good grade, every single bit of progress, I would scold myself for thinking I was good. I would overcorrect by insulting myself and telling myself I was horrible for even daring to think about myself positively. How could I think I’m good?
See, I’m very smart. I’m not trying to brag I swear, I really am smart. My lowest grade in the history of my life was a 72. Before that my lowest grade was an 87. I’m phenomenal at masking. Again really not trying to brag I’m sorry if it comes off that way. I’m sorry actually for including this stuff, it’s just necessary for the explanation, otherwise I wouldn’t include it, since it feels like I’m being self-absorbed and trying to praise myself.
I think this all stems from my religion. My mom is incredibly religious, Episcopalian btw, and she has made me go to church every single Sunday unless I was sick. Even if we were out of town, we’d visit the nearest Episcopalian or Methodist(since our relatives are all Methodist) church. So I grew up constantly bombarded with stories about how humility was a virtue. About how pride corrupts, and, being autistic, I took it all literally. So, even to this day, I don’t EVER say something good about myself without second guessing if it’s necessary or just me being a prideful asshole too narcissistic to ever be a good person who deserves to die and rot in hell.

Here’s some advice: Just do it! It doesn’t matter if it’s cringe. It doesn’t matter if it’s bad. My first fic was horrid. You don’t need to post your fanfic. Or you can. Ignore any hate. Just start writing. “John and Bart Simpson walked to the library. Then they read a book” is a successful fanfic of your OC interacting with Bart Simpson. It can be bad and messy and full of misspellings and misunderstandings of the source material.
