Wax Working a Zircon Engagement Ring
Slowly working on this new wax carved zircon engagement ring in an organic design. I'm still in a bit of pain from my recent surgery, so everything I do is slower lately. I love the scalloped style carving of this design, its a lot of fun to work. Also, that blue wax is eye-searing! I tend to work in the harder green wax usually as I find the melting point of the blue wax too low (and the colour too headache inducing).
Playing With Colour on Metal
Playing with silver patina, a little enamel and some beautiful new metal colours I received from one of my teachers at uni from a looooooong time ago. The first ring is a silver and gold inlay ring with liver of sulphur patina, the second is an enameling experiment which I'm still on the fence about, and the third is a silver piece with a mix of liver of sulphur and red dye-oxide from Sculpt Nouveau. Such a pleasure to just play with the materials without thinking about purpose. ♥️

Person 2: So, as someone who was not able to work from home–um, I’m in a manufacturing facility, I, that’s not an option for me. I’m in this bitch right now on a Saturday. So, really not an option.
But. I wanna be really clear that we support y'all. The people that can work from home fucking should. Cause it’s better for us too. There’s less traffic, parking’s easier, uh, there’s just, there’s less stress in the whole world which benefits everybody.
People in this plant can work from home. And when they do, I can park outside easier. And I can still get up with them by calling their phones, emailing them or whatever.
This should be normal now. This should be normal. We were told it was the new normal and they tried to take us back. Fuck that shit. Work from if you can and quit if they won’t let you.
Manufacturing here as as well; if people can work from home then they bloody well should be allowed to, clearly it isn't hurting anyone.

The first part of that unlearning had to do with the idea that the disabled body is inferior because it can’t produce as much as other bodies and is therefore not as valuable. This is a view that a lot of people subscribe to even if they would argue that they don’t. It’s what fuels the fact that disabled people get paid less than others; it’s why the able-bodied don’t necessarily fight for things like higher disability allowances or the right to fair wages for disabled people, because there’s this unspoken assumption that they can’t contribute meaningfully to society. We tie the worth of a human being to how much they can give to society.

Whatever one thinks about the moral status of the existing global order, it is hard to imagine circumstances in which philosophical critique would make a difference to it.
The United Kingdom is, as its name suggests, a feudal arrangement—not just in the metaphorical sense that Carens appeals to, but quite literally. The concrete expression of this structure comes once a week, usually on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., when the prime minister, who serves at the Queen’s discretion, is obliged to visit Buckingham Palace to account for himself. All of this is well known and yet from a certain point of view it remains shocking. If we ask ourselves by what right one human being could hold such power over others, assuming the equal worth of all, we will not easily find an answer. The system is a historical inheritance that reflects past power struggles; there is no principle of justice that would recommend it.
