Summary: After escaping Fódlan because of the onset of war, Ashe finds himself on a trade ship on its way to the foreign land of Brigid where he meets a beautiful woman living under the sea.

Ashe woke to humming.

His eyes snapped open, chest heaving as he attempted to sit up. He did not understand what he laid on, only that it was unfamiliar. Underneath his hands, he felt the ridges of bamboo slats and cushions. And for some reason, feeling like he now trod water.

“Rest, human,” murmured a gentle voice. A blurry being appeared before him. He could make out the shape of a woman’s face. She had dark brown eyes and a halo of magenta hair. “You are unwell.”

“He’s pathetic,” snarled a man with emerald hair that splayed about his head like a smudge of dark ink. His eyes were slits, cold and calculating.

“Prince Dimitri,” Archbishop Rhea intones gravely, in the illustrious halls of the monastery. “We hope you honor your rite to kingship by undergoing this trial.”

Dimitri bows with one knee intimate to the ground. He places one hand over his heart, head low in deference to the archbishop.

“Long ago, Sothis gifted us a garment that gave us the power of flight. With this gift, we traversed the skies and searched for our goddess. But one day, a wicked beast stole this boon from us.” Emotions change her warm tone into a grave melancholy. “And now, we humbly ask for your assistance. Will you, crown prince of Faerghus, shoulder this task of retrieving the swanskin?”

“I accept.” Dimitri lifts his head with ceremony and grace. Conviction blazes in his azure eyes, and pins his hand over his heart. “I will return what is rightfully ours to the monastery.”

“Thank you, Dimitri.” Rhea hums in quiet elation. “I see that the kingdom inherits a strong and kind ruler.”
