Do not spam my askbox! I (the mod) physically canât get to every single question, and sometimes another asker words the question better, or I donât have an interesting answer. Sending the same ask in every few minutes just makes me far less inclined to answer you.
Swearing is allowed, but discouraged, as the characters and I do not swear on this blog. (Any in character swearing will be censored.)
No roleplay is allowed. Period. This is not a roleplay blog. Do not ask for your character to be added, or take on a role in the replies.

No Magic!Anon. This is a story-driven askblog, so magic anon asks donât work here. This also means that askers cannot physically interact with/summon anything, characters or objects. In universe, askers are only voices in the charactersâ heads.

Question for Mod Mello. Henry has previously said he doesnât know anything about his parents, but is there any actual lore about them? Are they deadbeats? Did they die? Iâve had this question for a while now so I thought Iâd ask.

Actually, it just occurred to me: Charles, you seem a lot more aware of, uh, a certain âfourth wallâ than other people, even Henry. Is that something we should be concerned about, or just a thing you do sometimes?
Hey everyone!! Welcome back!! Itâs that time of year: I am free from school for the summer, which means itâs finally time for updates again! Hereâs the basic plan:
I want to do at least one ask a week until September! No specific day, and if I can do more than one a week, great! But Iâm working on a ton of other stuff this summer, and I have a con coming up in like a week, so Iâm trying to keep things simple. Iâm not anticipating any big plot posts for a bit, but if there is one that causes a delay, Iâll let you know.
Erik has been helping tremendously by providing a bunch of backgrounds for Charlesâ house, so as always, please give him some love for all he does, he is one of the sole reasons things keep moving around here! Backgrounds are like my kryptonite, his help has been essential to this comicâ-
Final bit of news, weâre tying up the last few loose ends with the plot! Act 4 has had a couple gaps in its framework for a few years now, being the big connecting point leading into the finale, but I do believe the general progression (sans influence from you askers) has been ironed out! Meaning the only thing left to do is to get there!

Regular occurrence these past 3 years, donât worry. This blog is still active, and I have every intention of getting back to it once school lets up!
Unfortunately, that may not be until the semester is over. Iâm in my last semester of actual classes before my final year, so I really have to lock in. Want information on the new villain org? Sorry but because the newbies weren't there for the Easter egg hunt they don't get shit.
Want information on all those original characters people re-blogging are getting excited for? Sorry but all the deets are on the discord fan server that is no longer open to newbies.
Like the art style is cool and all and the basic premise is like fire. But there is just so much shit left out for the newer folk that makes wanting to get into the comic so hard.
I just wish there was a compromise like maybe a Patreon or Ko-Fi type monthly subscription where there is access to the discord and other goodies like story progress. Or maybe the artists can do like a monthly post with story information on past and current characters and orgs so that new people can see a character or org and know the backstory without trying to guess if the info is in the comic or lost on a one time event.
Hi, Mello here. Iâm sorry youâve found the comic to be unfriendly towards new readers. Please understand that this was never the intention, and I want to address your concerns for the sake of anyone else who may have just started reading.
The Red Strings Archive is not mandatory reading. Itâs meant to be a pretty simple arg type puzzle for extra lore. All it involves is looking for three sets of numbers in some early posts and putting them together in order to create the password. It is still solvable to this day, you did not have to be there day one in order to solve it. Itâs just there for fans to get additional lore, accessing the archive is not required to enjoy the comic. Itâs all extra. There has never and will never be one time events that lock out information from you.
As for the Discord, itâs been closed for years because it isnât a fan server. Thatâs how it started, yes, but then I realized public Discords are hell to keep up with, because Iâm not a moderator, Iâm just the guy who made the comic, and I started only letting in people I trust. It hasnât been a fan server since 2021, itâs just a server for my friends and family now. And they donât get any extra information, the details about EtCâs original characters arenât exclusive to them. The only reason theyâd know more is if theyâre the ones who made/helped make said characters, or if theyâre my co-writers. And I donât even tell my co-writers everything, because theyâre readers too. Just reading through the main plot will tell you everything you need to know about them at this point in the story, I promise.
And concerning a Patreon/Ko-fi, I wanted to make one for years. But the circumstances made it difficult to impossible to do so. This blog will have been running for five years this coming October. I couldnât make a Patreon early on into the comic due to bank complications, and now, I just donât post nearly as much as I used to. I have a lot going on outside of this comic now, itâs something I can really only work on in my free time, and even then, thereâs other things I want to do than constantly work on panels. A Patreon would add another layer of things to keep up with, and I just canât.
All this is to say, this comic isnât perfect. I started it on a whim when I was 18 because I needed something to do while locked inside due to Covid. Iâve done my very best to make this comic as accessible as possible for everyone, but please remember, at the end of the day, that this is just a Tumblr ask blog, and that Iâm not perfect either.
New readers, you donât need to read all the extra blog posts, you donât need to be in the Discord server, and you donât need access to the archive. You are not missing out, I promise you. All the extras are just that; extras, for you to find and read through only if you want to. It is not necessary for your enjoyment of the story. Just read through the main plot, as you would with any other comic, it is its own standalone experience. I wouldnât recommend just jumping in anywhere, it is definitely best to start from the beginning, but that is all I will ever ask of you as the reader. Everything you will ever need to know will be presented through the course of the main story, and Iâm sorry if it has ever come off otherwise.
Yup, just been enjoying my summer break, doing some Art Fight, playing the new Deltarune chapters, stuff like that. Iâve come to realize that schedules and self imposed deadlines just make me not want to work on things?? Sucks the motivation right out of me. So Iâm not forcing myself to work on panels right now, scheduled updates just burn me out real quick. We have some stuff to plan out and prep for Act 4 anyways, so donât worry, updates will come out when theyâre ready, just like they always have :)
