(유미) yumi, also known as song yumin, is a korean female singer, member of the co-ed group enhypen. she placed third on the survival show i-land — which formed enhypen — and is the face of the group, dancer, vocalist and rapper.

“hello, engenes~ how are you?”, yumin greeted the live audience, smiling prettily at the phone recording her.
the staff had set up a pretty background for her birthday live, consisting of pink fringe curtains, huge 19 silver balloons, polaroids of baby yumin and some sanrio characters balloons scattered around. on the table in front of her laid a small tiger shaped cake, with some snacks on a plate and a lemonade in a cup, along with the infamous tablet for her to read the comments.
yumi was dressed with a navy blue adidas jacket and a white ruffle skirt, she had chosen her outfit for the live and wanted the fans to enjoy a more casual evening with her.
“have you eaten yet?”, she asked while looking at the comments. “someone said that they were waiting for my live to eat with me. that’s so sweet~”, yumi pouted.
the staff behind the camera quickly placed a glass jar in front of the girl, nodding towards it for her to start the segment.
“ah! right!”, she smiled, picking it up. “everyone, the members wrote messages for me and i’ll have to guess who wrote what. also, apparently, some made drawings of me too… i’ll also have to guess who’s drawing it is…”
yumin mixed a bit of the papers inside and picked one up, revealing a very weirdly drawn girl, with bangs, enormous eyes and a giant smile. she let out a giggle as soon as she opened it and looked at the camera with a ‘it’s so easy’ face.
“this one’s obviously ni-ki’s! he’s the only one that exaggerates on his drawings, he could be a caricature artist by now.”, she laughed and rolled her eyes, putting it to the side. “i’m gonna punch him for this later.”, she muttered to the audience.
mixing the jar again, yumi picked another paper up and opened it. this time it had a message written in a very messy handwriting just to make it harder for her to guess.
“woah, who wrote this needs some calligraphy lessons… this is so hard to read!”, she complained, showing the message to the camera. “members, i’m so sorry but whoever wrote this made it impossible to read…”
she hummed as she read the words written, trying to decipher some of them due to the writing on it.
“yumi-ah, today you’re turning 19! isn’t it exciting?”, the maknae read out loud. “i hope you can be happy for a very long time, i’ll always be here cheering you on! enjoy your day, maknae…”, she smiled at the note. “this is so sweet. i think it’s from hee-oppa, he would for sure write something like this. he’s a swe-e-e-e-t oppa~”, she joked, singing the sweet venom lyrics with mismatched words.
as the comments flooded with people swooning over the cute letter, yumi took the time to open one of her snacks and take a sip of her lemonade, humming at the flavor.
“they got my favorite flavor of lemonade, it has strawberries with it too.”, she took another sip. “i love this so much, thank you, our amazing staff~”, yumin giggled as she saw the staff’s reaction. “they got flustered, engene~”
as she took a bite of her snack, yumi pointed behind her to show the camera the baby pictures of her glued to the wall.
“engene-ah, can you see this pictures? there are so many!”, she countered. “some of them i don’t even remember seeing, my mom probably helped them find it.”, yumi laughed. “i was such a cute baby…”
“okay, let’s keep going with our mission!”, she settled down again. “next paper!”
she picked another piece of paper, unfolding it and gasping as she saw it. the drawing being a cute version of her in a familiar drawing style.
“this is actually a good drawing! check this!”, she showed it to the camera, her eyes wide behind it. “this is fire~”, yumi joked in english.
“i think this is from sunoo-oppa, he’s the best at drawing among all of us. it’s actually really good, i really like it!”, she inspected the drawing once again, smiling at it.
“i really hope i’m getting these right… i don’t wanna hear anything from them because i ended up getting it wrong later.”, the girl deadpanned at the camera, shaking her head.
“why do you seem so sure of your guesses?”, she read a comment out loud. “because i know them well~”, she winked.
the staff behind the camera got up again to give her chopsticks and a fork to eat the cake, gesturing to it after setting it down on the table.
“thank you~”, yumin smiled, grabbing the utensils. “let’s eat!”
she took a bite of the cake and her eyes instantly went wide, her face lighting up at the taste of the dessert.
“this cake is soooo good!”, the girl hummed, licking the fork. “i don’t think i’ve ever eaten a cake this good, it’s chocolate and strawberry. the perfect match!”
the comments flooded with messages jokingly asking for a bite, making the girl laugh and take another bite to aim it at the camera.
“say ah~”, she giggled. “there you go~ did you like it?”
everyone was playing along with her, joking that it was delicious and making her laugh again at the stupidity of their actions.
“we’re so stupid, engenes. but i’m glad i can be like this with you!”, she smiled.
“me and ni-ki were talking the other day and we came to the conclusion that we both have been 19 for far too long already…”, she sighed. “the age system got us confused because i ‘turned’ 19 last year, and ni-ki ‘turned’ 19 in 2023… it’s too confusing actually…”
she took another sip of her lemonade and decided to ultimately pay attention only to the chat as it was flooding with many messages.
“how did your day go? oh, that’s a good question.”, she flipped her hair over her shoulder and started playing with its tips as she answered. “well, the members made me breakfast and we went out for lunch later, then they gave me my gifts.” yumi smiled.
“ni-ki bought me a jacket that i have been talking about, i also got a new lego set from jake - and he said we’ll build it together.” she pouted. “oh! jungwon got me a cute bracelet from when we were in milan, sunoo got me a new prada bag, sunghoon bought a new wallet for me, heeseung said he’ll take me on a trip to legoland - jake said he wants to go too… ah, and jay got me a bag full of sunny angels! i’m so excited to open those…”
as she kept rambling about the new stuff she got, the staff cleared their throat to alert her of the ongoing segment she had to finish.
“right! next paper!”, she giggled. “sorry for rambling too much, i’ll keep talking while doing this.”
as she unfolded the paper she got confused, it had a message and a drawing, but each seemed to be made by different people – judging by the fact that the drawing had her nickname written on it in the corner.
“okay, this is a tricky one…”, she showed it to the camera. “since i already guessed three, there’s only four members left…”, a pout appeared on her face. “it could be either jake, sunghoon, jay or jungwon’s…”
yumi observed the paper for a little longer, humming under her breath and grumbling about it to the audience.
“i think the drawing is sunghoon’s… it’s a bit weird and it’s his handwriting on the corner, i’m sure of it.” she gave a firm nod to the live. “now the message… i’m pretty sure it’s jungwon’s. don’t ask me why, but the ‘sleepy girl of enhypen’ made me sure of it.” she made a funny expression.
“now there’s only two pieces left, let me get them!” yumin carefully unfolded the remaining two pieces of paper, placing both in front of her. both had messages written on them, making her pout in thought once again.
“okay, these two are messages, look.” she lifted them to the camera. “let’s read them to be more sure…”
“yumi-ah, you’re almost an adult! that makes me very emotional, because for me you’ll forever be that small girl with bang, bright eyes and a big mischievous smile that got on stage.”, she smiled softly at the words, feeling her heart warm at it. “never give up on your dreams, you are someone very dear to me.”
“woah, this made me emotional now!”, she scratched her cheek. “i know this is jay’s, it’s pretty obvious. he’s always reminiscing about the first time he saw me and he always says that i looked really cute, like a toddler.” she giggled. “oppa, you are very dear to me too!”
she carefully folded it back and put it next to her cup, to remind herself to put it in her bag later to take it home with the other notes.
“now to the last one, i know this is jake’s but i wanna read it to you.” she explained, flipping the paper to start reading. “it’s all in english, so i’m sorry if you can’t understand well due to my speaking!” as she said that, the chat flooded with messages telling her that she spoke well, to which she smiled. “well, jake and jay have been helping me these days, so i’m thankful to them.”
“gabriella-la-la~”, she giggled at the joke. “this oppa thinks he’s funny, don’t feed into it, engenes!”
“you are like a little annoying sister to me. thank you for always cheering me up when i’m not okay, you are our ball of sunshine! yumi, let’s go!” she rolled her eyes with a playful smile on her face. “well, for your information, you are also annoying, sim jaeyun.”
yumi stuck her tongue out, playfully scrunching her face. “i think we’re finished, i’ll just know if i guessed right later when they tell me.”, she sighed.
“now let’s eat some more!”, yumi took another bite of her cake, zooming her eyes onto the tablet again. “hmm, do you plan on releasing any solo music? well, maybe, though i don’t know if i want to promote or do anything without the members. it’s weird even going to variety shows without them, but let’s see~”, she winked.
the staff behind the camera tapped their watch to signal to yumi that her time was almost up, reminding her to say her goodbyes to their fans.
“engene-ah, our time is up~”, she pouted. “i love talking to you so much that i didn’t even realize it!”
“thank you for watching my live, i hope it wasn’t too boring! also, i want to thank all of for the birthday wishes and everything you’ve organized for me, i’ll always appreciate your efforts! engene’s are truly amazing, i love you with my whole heart!”

— even though she herself wants to be called a tiger, people can’t help but compare her to both a squirrel and a hamster due to her adorable squeezable cheeks. because of this, people call her hoshi’s long lost daughter and even the idol himself started playing around that yumi’s his child.
— she used to study with nmixx’s kyujin and they ended up growing up together. yumi’s really glad that they are living their dream at the same time — even if they aren’t part of the same group.
— she loves being the group’s maknae, when asked about it, yumi said that she can get all the members’ attention and when she asks cute, they’ll focus on her.
— she can copy britney spears’ voice and she has done a cover of her songs and is often asked to sing them on live.
— during i-land, yumin ended up discovering that she has a sleeping habit. she would often walk through the i-land hallways and talk, all of it while she was asleep. her roommates would often get scared during the night, she would end up waking them up while doing this.
