<3<3<3<3
The large dining hall was illuminated with ambient candles and dim yellow chandeliers, an aura of sophistication and formality enveloping the expanse. Blue orchids occupied every table followed by a bottle of champagne, wine glasses and plates full of rich seafood such as smoked salmon with caviar and potato pancakes. The air was disturbingly thick with branded scents wafting off people, mixing with the smell of fish and flowers.
The massive hall suffocated you, making you clench your purse tighter.
High-society events had always sounded uncomfortable, but nothing could have prepared you for this trainwreck. It felt like a battle of the wealthy: women draped in brands you'd never heard of, exchanging fake laughs and snide remarks as they clung to their cashmere shawls, beaded with pleated goldâat least, thatâs what you were told. If you had the choice, youâd never again breathe near these oblivious, high-nosed women, flaunting their lavish lifestyles, all thanks to their hardworking husbands.
They seemed untouchable, speaking the language of arrogance. They reminded you of your felinesâaloof and haughty, exuding an air of superiority but ultimately ignorant.
As you sat there, dolled up in your tight-fitted dress, the thought of eating the rich lingered in your mind. You'd come across the phrase on social media and analyzed it through the lens of an unbiased journalist, but now, you couldnât help but draw drastic conclusions.
Their world felt grotesquely splitâluxury on the surface, emptiness beneath. They wore their generational wealth like a costume, but without it, they were nothing more than overgrown children in oversized suits, throwing around big words with small minds. Theatrical, pretentious, drowning in self-importance. Strip away the pretence, and they were exposedâhollow, unremarkable, and utterly unaware of how insignificant they truly were.
You desperately avoided these events. So what if your boyfriend, Park Jongseong, is one of the businessmen, featured in Times magazine as the hottest emerging entrepreneur in South Korea? A mere student of journalism, unfamiliar with the highs and lows of elitist culture, surely adds nothing to such obnoxious events.
But this time, he dragged your misfit ass to accompany him and formally introduce yourself to the crowds.
Jay was required to attend such events and ever since he told you about the women throwing themselves at him, you couldnât help slip into an elegant dress and rush to join his side.
You paused, lips thin against the rim of your glass as you caught sight of your boyfriend in a black suit, wearing a blank expression on his face as a domineering aura surrounded him. You could tell he liked the gathering just as much as you did with the way his gaze was stoic and lips sealed.
This was the first time you had agreed to join him in such an event and you were glad you did.
He looked awfully handsome, his chocolate eyes brimming glowing in the hall's darkness. Sharp jawline set in a stiff smile and lips pink and wet from his drink as he nodded at his seatmateâs words. He was the centre of attention, not just because of his appearance but also his charming character.
Park Jongseong was the sole owner of X company, a name now included in the worldâs largest food industries. Jay worked his way up the ladder despite having zero connections to big shots in the marketing industry. He worked with integrity and preserved quality in his brand. It was hard to access bigger doors in this dog-eat-dog world, but your boyfriendâs dedication to his craft and refusal to compromise on ethics bore the seeds of success.
Whilst most companies undermined him, the public seemed to appreciate his rigidity and soon he was opening up branches all over the world. Garnering praise from overseas magazines, every businessman was wary of his character. He had started at the bottom of the chain and earned his way up, struggle after struggle.
You were so proud to call him yours.
âMy husband wanted to donate to the local NGO, but I was against it because we already paid for the church reconstruction. We take part in various charitable events, you see.â
How were the two situations remotely related? You wanted to voice out your distaste. Instead, you bit your tongue and smiled bitterly.
You searched for your boyfriend on the other table and noticed his curious gaze already trained on you. He carefully read your expression and immediately caught onto your discomfort, rising from his seat to approach you.
You watched narrowly as he crossed the large expanse, grabbed your hand and tugged you towards him. The five ladies on the table quickly quietened, jaw parting in disbelief as they greeted Jay in coy and shy voices. They sounded sugary sweet as if they werenât already married; it made you want to smack them in the face with their Hermes bags.
Jay wrapped his arm around your waist, nodding at the ladies but never sparing them a glance as he led you away. You almost flipped off the flustered women but restrained yourself, knowing you couldnât afford to smear Jayâs reputation by falling into a girly scuffle.
âYou gotta pay me back for saving your ass back there,â he whispered against your ear, and chills quickly ran along your spine. You laughed at the smirk developing on his face.
âI didnât need any saving,â you huffed, your challenging gaze daring him to say otherwise. He pinched the bridge of his nose with a soft smile, âWeâll see about that at home.â
Your stomach flipped.
Jay casually pulled you to his table and sat you down beside him, securing an arm behind your chair.
You instantly tensed up, surveying the intimidating circle of important looking people staring your way. Jay was currently sitting around huge business tycoons and their spouses.
A blonde man sitting opposite Jay caught your eye, and you froze. One of the most important men of the night, an old chaebol sat across from you, the man Jay was bidding on for future collaborations to invest in his dream project. Though nepotism was widespread, like an infectious disease in todayâs world, these dinners were held to offer a chance for rising stars to socialize and build connections.
You straightened up your spine and flashed a soft smile.
âThis is my girlfriend, Y/N.â
âOh, young love!â One of the older couples gleefully chimed, and you smiled bashfully. âArenât they adorable?â Jay held the womanâs softened gaze.
âHow wonderful to have such a young charming man all to yourself,â a middle-aged lady, sat beside her husband, covered in an expensive leopard fur coat claimed, an envious smile straining her wrinkles.
You nodded, but Jay shook his head dismissively.
âIâve always been the lucky one.â
You felt a wave of emotions hurl up in your chest.
Jay spent long, struggling for every minuscule opportunity, and he deserved every ounce of the success. You were merely fortunate enough to love him through it all. For him to blatantly praise you before such a crowd, it tugged at your heart and made you want to cover him in kisses.
Since youâd met him, you were certain that nothing was unattainable when a man as keen and passionate as Park Jongseong stood by your side. You were definitely the luckier one.
You wanted to throw away everything to make him happy.
âHow beautiful.â
Caught off guard, you spun to the origin of the voice. The chaebol, was staringâgawking at you.
With complacency in his tone and a sickening smirk on his lips, you suddenly felt under the spotlight.
âAre you currently studying?â He slurred, his accent becoming thicker with intent.
You felt chills run down your spine as you noticed his pupils wandering to your cleavage. You shifted in your seat, feeling regretful at your choice of dressing. It wasnât even obscene, a casual midi dress with a silver of collarbone and the tiniest hint of cleavage. Nothing newsworthy. Yet you felt putrid.
You never wanted anyone to stare at you like that. It made your insides crawl. It made you feel insignificant, demoralized and inferior.
You knew his intentions were foul, but you refrained from showing a slight hint of it in your demeanour. It didnât matter. You wouldnât see him ever again after tonight, and this was Jayâs only chance at securing a life-changing deal, forming a once-in-a-lifetime connection.
You gulped and smiled indifferently.
âJournalism,â you responded dryly and blinked away.
You noticed Jayâs hand clench into a fist under the table and panic rippled in your chest. You quickly rubbed at his knuckles, fear racking your head as you flashed a nervous smile.
You knew better than to tick him off. Jay would singlehandedly destroy anyone who looked at you with ill intentions. You were a witness to it once at a party.
Wasted after a university gathering, a man tried to take you home despite your continuous rejection. Your friends saw your discomfort and dialled up your boyfriendâs number, who immediately took off with Heeseungâs motorbike and arrived like a thunderstorm, knocking the manâs front tooth out. With bloodied knuckles and a scowling face, you remembered him screaming in the alleyway as the cops came to the manâs rescue.
Poor Heeseung was left stranded in the middle of a worksite drenched in pouring rain. When you asked Jay why he opted for a bike instead of his car, he said the traffic was at its worst and had he taken his car, heâd have a hit-and-run case on his back trying to get to you.
âJay,â you muttered, your mind going blank as you noticed the awakening demon in his eyes; his predatory stare trained at the man, his jaw clenched.
You suddenly wanted to evaporate. You tried to appease him as you stroked his knuckles, your soft skin gliding against his callous one. He gripped your hand tightly but kept his drilling gaze trained on the blonde man.
âJournalism? A beauty with brains.â His eyes were hazy and tone lousy due to heavy alcohol consumption.
His eyes again feasted at your exposed skin and you shrunk into your chair, your heart clashing against your chest.
âLower your gaze.â
Dead silence.
The smiles dropped like a domino effect as men shifted in their seats, discomfort straining their wrinkled features. The males were used to the chaebolâs indecent behaviour⌠some even welcomed itâ whatâs a few demeaning remarks towards their women if theyâll win the favour of the worldâs richest man?
The blatant call out and Jayâs scornful gaze had everyone sweating in their formal suits. The tension grew thick, and your throat tightened in alarm. Your hold on Jayâs hand grew tighter, forcing him to look at you.
âIâm fine, donât do anything rash.â
But it seemed like your plea went through him, unheard.
His tense fist and determined stare directed at the chaebol made you realize that another word from the blonde would get Jay spiralling. You had to get out of here before it was too late.
You gave his hand another squeeze.
âExcuse me, Iâm heading to the washroom,â you hurriedly announced, flashing Jay a complacent smile.
You didnât look back as you hurried to the washrooms. You planned on spending the rest of the night in the lavatory since the party was awfully disappointing.
You wanted to be with Jay but not under the current circumstances. The blonde pervert was the most influential in this field and this country, and you wanted to do nothing that sabotaged your boyfriendâs future goals.
You locked yourself in one of the stalls and sat down annoyedly.
It was supposed to be a fun night out with your boyfriend.
You didnât know a rich party full of influential businessmen was just a pathetic battle of the egos. To think, you skipped catching up with your favourite anime for this bullshit party. You grumbled spitefully, massaging your forehead in slow circles, hoping to ease the building ache.
âExcuse me,â you heard a shrill voice call out as someone knocked from outside.
You sat up alarmed.
âYes?â You replied unsurely.
âI think your boyfriend is outside waiting for you.â
You jumped up, your eyes zeroing as you whipped the door open.
A brunette-haired woman you recognized as the server stood before you. âYouâre Mr. Parkâs girlfriend, right? He asked me to check inside for you,â she smiled and stepped to the sink, resuming to wash her hands.
You rushed for the door and yanked it open.
As expected, your boyfriend was stationed against the wall, his eyes already on yours, needy and impatient. He pulled you close to him, his fingers grazing your exposed neckline as he breathed you in.
âWeâre going home,â he announced against your neck.
You nodded hesitantly, aware of his turmoil. You knew your boyfriendâs instincts were borderline predatory when he suspected your discomfort; it must have taken everything in him to not stalk over to the chaebol and smack him in the face.
Jay grabbed your hand and marched out to the hall.
The hall grew painfully silent like a funeral as you made your way down the carpet. Confusedly, you looked around, noticing everyone staring. Thick, suffocating tension persisted in the air as if a fire was brewing. It seemed like everyone had something to say but they were holding back. You looked back at your boyfriend, but he marched ahead, unaffected.
Anyone you passed, you heard a brief gasp escape their chest. You wondered what had happened for everyone to be so horrified and meek around him.
Your gaze fearfully drifted to the table with the chaebol and your heart dropped in your stomach. A dark red bruise circled the chaebolâs right eye, his pupil dilated and trembling with fear.
When you both were in the car park, you pulled at his arm, a gasp ringing loud.
âJay, what the fuck? How could you attack him?â You gasped, finding it hard to process what you had just seen. He didnât respond, keeping a moderate pace towards the car.
âJay, Iâm talking to you!â You shrieked, voice trembling with horror.
He finally halted in his tracks and turned towards you, his eyes burning with seething anger, his fists still clenched, a bluish bruise starting to form on his right knuckles.
âWe need to get out of here before I do something much worse,â he spat, staring at you like a madman, running a hand through his gelled hair, voice thick with anguish.
You felt frustration building in your chest and your eyes burned with tears.
âThat dealâŚâ Your voice trembled. âDo you think heâll let this go? He wonâtâ!â You cried, your head pounding.
You clung to his arm. âLetâs go back inside and apologiseââ
Jay jerked his arm free, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fists. âApologise? Have you lost your mind?â His voice boomed across the empty lot, his gaze piercing through you like poison.
âYouâve worked so hard Jay!â
Jay was adamant about establishing himself. Never losing sight of his goals, he spent a year giving his all to his startup.
He earned investments after sacrificing sleep, lunch, date nights and family dinners. His whole universe revolved around his dream; most nights, he didnât even sleep in the comfort of his bed because of the calls heâd get from investors demanding more insight.
You loved him so much, so much that you were always supportive. His absence made you lonely, but you restrained those urges because it was best not to bother him.
You internally ached for him.
Slowly, the ache started to disappear when he came back.
After successfully earning a huge investment, everything evolved. It was like his pot of love flooded and spilt everywhere, unable to be contained. He stopped working excessively. He dropped everything to come pick you up after your lecture, sometimes even accompanying you to the library for long study sessions. He became so clingy, so needy for your presence, it drove you insaneâin the best way.
âWhy are you crying?â He grimaced, his gaze softening as he watched tears flow down your cheeks.
âBecause!â You croaked, tone flaring with temper.
âHow could you ruin this?â You screeched, your face beat red and wet as you emptied out your heart. You were so angry and frustrated; you wanted to physically shake Jay into oblivion. âAfter this deal, you wouldâve been unbeatable!â You threw your hands in despair.
Jay huffed, his eyes wide and crazed, pinning you down, holding you captive. âYou care about my fucking investments right now?â He sounded hurt as well, his voice so quiet, you could tell he was boiling.
âYes!â You cried. âAfter youâve worked so hard for it⌠sacrificed so much of our time for it!â As soon as you said the words, the darkness in his eyes grew tumultuous.
Jay stepped close and before you could register it, he grabbed your wrist and slammed you to the car, his arms immediately cushioning the hit, protecting you from the impact. A loud clash echoed as he pinned you beneath him, his breathing heavy, his eyes glazed.
âIâve worked so hard, day after day, so you can stand next to me without shame.â
Thoughts racing through you suddenly grew dull⌠silent like a breeze in the abyss. The silence stretched until you could hear his harsh breaths echo through your frame.
He gulped down a flood of things he mustâve wanted to say, instead he cupped your jaw, caressing your face.
âYou deserved someone strong and I was so pathetic back then.â His words felt like acid flowing through your ears.
âWorking shifts at the grill and serving bars in the night,â his voice cracked as his hold on your jaw tightened. âIt was patheticâŚâ he reiterated, browns in his eyes becoming liquid.
Each word pained you more than you could imagine. Your heart broke as he reminisced about your early years at university when he working minimum wage to pay for his tuition. It was around the time you were enthralled by him, the studious senior, always sat alone, at the far end of the library with his nose in some business book.
Sleep-deprived eyes, a languid smile and a date to his workplace were enough to get you head over heels in love with the man.
âJay, I was never ashamedâhow could you even thinkââ You felt choked up. Words seemed to have failed you.
Jay blinked back his tears. âI was unworthy, and it made my blood boil.â He traced your bottom lip with his thumb. âHeeseung hyung said I should give you up. It was an easy way out⌠but the thought of that kept me up at night.â
Your jaw droppedâHeeseung had told him to let you go, and he'd kept it from you.
âThe fact that he even mentioned that made me sickâgave me nightmares. It was a reality check,â he growled, his breaths strained as he thought back to the memory. âThat night, I decided to be worthy of you. I decided no one on this fucking planet will ever think of separating us.â
âBecause youâre mine. I can give up this entire world but never you,â he whispered, and his mouth lowered, finding your neck.
âJay, you were never any of thatâyou were everything I needed,â you gasped as he kissed down your neckline.
âWâWhy didnât you ever tell me?â You bit your lips, restraining the adulterous sounds as Jayâs lips pressed a trail of wet kisses before he bit into a sensitive region. His tongue slickly traced the bite mark across the neckline as he tasted you to his fulfilment.
âBecause you donât need to worry about it,â he rasped, his heavy pants taking over your mind, making you twitch and shudder in his hold.
âIâve achieved enough to protect you,â he whispered against your skin and dropped wet kisses down to your cleavage.
âI want to rip his filthy eyes out for looking at you,â he snarled, the bitterness and rage returning. His eyes remained on yours, watching you throw your head back as he painted you a darker shade of red.
His kisses grew desperate and needyâhis grip on your waist tight.
Your body reacted on its own, curling into his heated frame.
He finally leaned up and connected his mouth with yours. It was unlike any other. He was usually gentle with your mouth, calling your lips two pretty petals, but in the darkness of his anger, he was swallowing you whole. He invaded through the gap and sucked at your tongue, his neck craning to the side as he meticulously drained your mouth.
Everything felt hot, from his heavy breath to the hand digging in your waist to his intense gaze harbouring a storm; it was everything.
You felt guilty for letting him do this in a public car park where anyone could walk in and watch a show. But it also felt so euphoric, to have him feasting on you like his last meal.
Jealous and angry Jay made your stomach pool.
âYouâre gorgeous for meâhow dare that fucking crook stare?â His saliva pooled down your neck as he dug his teeth into your breast. A dry gasp escaped your mouth, your eyes falling shut in pleasure.
âJay,â you breathed, your body aching with want.
Your breathy words were enough to send him spiralling. He started to push himself into you, sucking your flesh like honey would melt on his tongue.
You felt him.
He was so brutally turned on; your legs felt weak as his masculine scent assaulted your senses. He supported your waist, digging his nose into your hair, inhaling you.
You were so heated that when you heard a heel clicking against the marble floor, your mind was elsewhere, refusing to comprehend it. You were completely overwhelmed by the woody scent of his cologne, the heat of his mouth and hard centre pushing into your pelvis. It would be embarrassing to get caught, but you were overwhelmed, so overwhelmed with him.
Suddenly, you were knocked out of your trance as Jay jerked back, his gaze pained and hazy with longing. His limbs shook as his chest heaved, his body so rigid, afraid to move or he would fall to the ground.
He clenched at his hair and swore under his breath.
âGet in the car. No one sees you like this,â he ushered.
What was he insinuating? You didnât have time to ask as he threw an impatient glare. You obediently ran to the passenger seat and jumped inside, your heart clashing against your chest rampantly.
As you caught sight of the front mirror, you realised why your boyfriend had been so adamant. He didnât want anyone to see your messy hair, hooded gaze, flushed and painted red; you looked lustrous, turned on and oozing with desire.
Jay was beside you the next second, his forehead covered in a thick sheen of sweat and his black strands a sultry mess.
âI canât drive. I literally canât feel my legs.â
You threw your head back, bursting out laughing as he glared at you, his pupils dilated and still buzzing with need.
âShut up before I fuck you in the backseat,â he threatened.
Shut up, you did.
You knew him too well to know that he would actually comply.
You watched him as he sat inhaling and exhaling, a meditating exercise he sometimes used to recover.
After a couple more painful minutes, he finally drove home and you had never seen him drive so fast, breaking all the traffic laws in the rulebook.
âJayâŚâ You called out as you noted the familiar apartment gate appear.
âHm?â He nibbled on his lip, steering the wheel as he reversed the car into the garage.
âI will crash Heeseungâs motorbike the next time I see him.â And as he came to a stop, you saw him laugh into oblivion as he hauled you in his arms and hastened towards your flat.
After getting pushed into the bedsheets with a persistent boyfriend devouring you through the night, you laid on his bare chest, drowsy and exhausted, smiling into oblivion.
He looked down curiously, kissing down your spine.
âWhatâs got you so happy goofball?â
âI have the title for my final.â

Warning: extremely suggestive, profanity, hatred against the rich, discusses the male gaze, violence and possession.
Synopsis: As your boyfriend, Park Jongseong, takes you to one of his high-stakes business events, you find yourself enduring the pretentious, cutthroat atmosphere of the dinner. You're determined to maintain his reputation, especially since he's trying to win the favour of a powerful chaebol. But things become hazy when the blonde chaebol's gaze lingers on you for too long.
I can give up this entire world but never you,â he whispered.
âJay, you were never any of thatâyou were everything I needed.â
âWâWhy didnât you ever tell me?â You bit your lips.
âBecause you donât need to worry about it,â he rasped, his heavy pants taking over your mind, making you twitch and shudder in his hold.
âIâve achieved enough to protect you,â he whispered against your skin.
âI want to rip his filthy eyes out for looking at you,â he snarled, the bitterness and rage returning. His eyes remained on yours.
Jealous and angry Jay made your stomach pool.
âYouâre gorgeous for meâhow dare that fucking crook stare?â
âJay,â you breathed, your body aching with want.
He supported your waist, digging his nose into your hair, inhaling you.
You were so heated that when you heard a heel clicking against the marble floor, your mind was elsewhere, refusing to comprehend it. You were completely overwhelmed by the woody scent of his cologne, the heat of his mouth.
He didnât want anyone to see your messy hair, hooded gaze, flushed and painted red.
Jay was beside you the next second, his forehead covered in a thick sheen of sweat and his black strands a sultry mess.
âI canât drive. I literally canât feel my legs.â
You threw your head back, bursting out laughing as he glared at you, his pupils dilated and still buzzing with need.
âShut up before I do something youâll regret,â he threatened.
After getting pushed into the bedsheets with a persistent boyfriend devouring you, you laid on his chest, drowsy and exhausted, smiling into oblivion.
He looked down curiously.
âWhatâs got you so happy goofball?â
âI have the title for my final.â

âIntelligent and tall. Sheâs got a thing for them⌠She had this crush on a dude in the first semester. Told her he was a jerk, didnât listen, and you know⌠he broke her heart. His name? Think it was park jeong guk? jeong woo? I donât know⌠It was just some guy. Sheâs stupidâŚâ
He had wanted to punch that knowing look off Jakeâs face as he insulted you, but Heeseung tried swallowing down the surging fury.
Because, indeed, you were so stupid. Why had you allowed some loser into your life? When Heeseung gets you, he will make sure to treasure every part of you. He wouldnât need anyone else. He would use his every breath to cherish you, only you.
Despite the hostility he felt upon hearing of your previous crush, the good news was that Heeseung unintentionally matched the description. He had never been so grateful for his genes until this moment; traits he once considered useless suddenly becoming his most prized.
Heeseung bore a good height, and his mind was like a computer program. At just ten years old, his father had assumed heâd discover the cure for cancerâyet to come true, but everyone in college believed if anyone could do it, it was Lee Heeseung.
A special one, born to lead, a saviour, they claimed. But Heeseung never wanted to be his fatherâs golden child. He didnât want to contribute to society or garner the worldâs praise. He barely had friendsâexcept for Kim Sunoo, Heeseungâs childhood partner in crime.
To the world, Heeseung was an overachiever, but he knew his excellence was merely a distraction from his twisted mind. His father was the first to notice the disconnect.
Heeseung chose medicine on a whim, a flick of a coinâheads or tails. The boredom in his life drove him to try everything: paragliding, boxing, swimming, drugs and unrestrained, animalistic sex. He had lived countless lives in two decades.
Early teenage years, his father took it upon himself to train his son, instilling social norms and enforcing strict rules as he tried moulding Heeseung into someone 'normal.' Like a dog on a leash, he made Heeseung more human while maintaining a safe distance to avoid getting scratched. Heeseung understood this from the moment he gained consciousness: his father was scared of him. Terrified.
He never discovered what exactly made his father lock his door every night, but whatever it was, it confirmed a small suspicion: Heeseung was unlovable.
It wasnât anything detrimental really, because Heeseung never felt the need to seek love. Even in psychological terms, a human's absolute necessities were food, shelter, sex, and safety. When he could survive on the bare minimum, why should he look for something as wasteful as love? He'd rather spend time gaming and pretending to outshine the worldâs brilliant minds.
Now, Heeseung was tired of the boredom. So tired that he thought to end it. How long could one treck through an aimless journey?
The realisation that he could cease to exist and no one would know his whereabouts made him feel somewhat better. The taste of death brought him immense curiosity. Would he turn to dust and ashes? Would he be forgotten in memories?
He didnât think anyone would remember him. To his father, he was a trophy; to his friends, a competition; and to outsiders, a freak. His loss would merely be a statistic: a decline in Koreaâs population digits, a decrease in the number of distinction holders in the country, and one less student in Seoul Universityâs register.
Thatâs what he thought.
Until he came across you.
You, with your brown eyes, small frame, your liveliness and your beauty.
It was a rainy day in Seoul when he was walking past the bus stand after wrecking his fatherâs beloved car in a deliberate crash. Unfortunately, he made it out unscathed, only injuring the vehicle. Maybe Heeseung had been born with a shit ton of luck, destined to waste it away.
Regardless, thanks to that golden tub of luck, he was able to land his gaze on you. Heeseung unintentionally remembered countless formulae and research, but the one thing he intended to rememberâfucking forced himself to perfectly encode in his memoryâwas the way you looked that day.
Brown hair slightly wet, sticking to your jawline, knitted brows, and wide eyes staring up at the sky in vengeful retaliation. Heeseung stopped in his tracks.
He had never seen an angel angry.
You dialled a number on your mobile and spoke calmly into your phone.
âThe bus is running late. Pick me up.â He remembered a sulking pout on your lips.
âItâs raining! I donât even have an umbrella. You want me to walk?â He remembered incredulous horror written across your features, lips frowning at the callerâs words.
âFine... Please! There, I said it, now come quick.â He remembered you rolling your eyes, biting your lip and clenching your bagâs strap tighter.
The phone call ended, and you folded your arms over your chest, letting the damp material cling to your bust, detailing the line of your bra as you tapped your foot on the drenched footpath, staring ahead in longing.
That day, an inactive section of his brain burst out with life, thatâs all he could theorise. He wanted to devour you, grope your drenched body, kiss your red mouth, force his fingers into your most sensitive tissues and consume your cries.
He wanted to destroy the person on that call with you, bury them within the earthâs deepest pits so theyâd never return to you. He wanted the earth to swallow you and him together, so he could hide you away and savour this moment. He wanted to be the only existence to remember you, here, standing at the bus stop, waiting for a ride home.
Why were you here alone anyway? Who was coming?
Heeseung wanted to shadow you from the rain. If he was a part of your life, heâd chase away all the busesâlet alone make you wait for one to pick you up. He would stand drenched in the rain if it meant your ass would only meet the covers of his seat.
A booming motion of the car made your eyes light up. Heeseungâs chest knotted up, a foreign emotion bubbling in his throat as a blonde braked his car before you. You hurried to climb into the passengerâs seat, and then he drove away. Just like that.
He hadnât hurt someone so far in this life, but the urge to drive a car into the blonde grew tenaciously strong. He had never felt such hatred and venom consume his being. The thought of you getting into that car, going away to share a life Heeseung wasnât a part of left a gnawing anger in his chest.
His heart which hadnât felt something in so long suddenly felt alive, riveting with twisted emotions. Heeseung didnât want to live, but suddenly he didnât want to die either. He didnât wish to be remembered, but suddenly he wanted at least one person to remember.
That day he came to a staggering conclusion: Heeseung was unfit to be loved, but he wasnât unfit to love.
â.â.â.â.â.â.â
Peak hours on a Monday afternoon started early. Waitresses ambled from one table to another, carrying orders as the room bustled with young college students, conversing and gossiping while awaiting their snacks. The rich essence of chocolate and coffee beans filled the air, stirring hunger among individuals working alone with their noses in laptops and textbooks.
Heeseungâs lips curved in a knowing smile: if you were here, youâd be one of those unaccompanied goody two shoes, sipping on a chocolate milkshake, jotting things down in your notebook. He pictured your brows scrunched as you wrapped your beautiful lips around the straw, gulping long sips and pulling away with a content smile.
âBaby, canât we go somewhere more private?â
His jaw tightened, aggravated at the shrill interruption. He feigned a smile, his gaze falling back on the red-haired bimbo who stared at him like he was the answer to her every prayer.
Heeseung grabbed a fork, scooping up a bite of strawberry cheesecake before filling his mouth. His stomach fluttered as he revelled in the sweet texture. Ever since stealing those kisses, he couldnât stop craving sweet treats. He even bought some candies on his way home that morning, already feeling the withdrawals kicking in.
âBut howâll we do thisâin private?â
The girl stared in confusion before she was yanked into his embrace, his warm lips slamming into hers, kissing her aggressively, the sweet creaminess from the cake transferring into her mouth. She moaned, licking his lips incessantly, begging for entrance, but Heeseung dismissed her attempts, his brows furrowed in annoyance.
Nervously, the red-haired girl slid her chair closer, biting her lip as she observed the underwhelmed expression on his face.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you mad at me?â She sulked, sucking at her teeth, staring up with concern.
Heeseung shook his head and pulled her into his lap. âDid you do something to make me mad?â He mumbled, rubbing his nose down her neck, peppering small kisses to distract her from his response.
âAhân-no! I didnât,â she gasped, her concern melting away already, her head tilting back as Heeseung planted kisses down her collarbone.
âShouldnât you be at uni right now?â He abruptly changed the topic, portraying the perfectly caring boyfriend who gave a shit about her life.
âYeah, but Iâll ask a friend for the class notes,â she mustered up, her breath laborious as Heeseung ran his hand down her thigh, his kisses growing feistier against her exposed neck.
âHm, are you that smart?â He pressed on, his patience running out. âThought Iâd fucked you dumb already,â he whispered repulsive words, his hand covering her thighs as the girl tightened in his hold, her lips pressed together to silence any sound, cautious of their surroundings.
Heeseungâs gaze changed, a menacing darkness flashing through. âSmart bitches,â he began, his words blunt and aggressive. âFucking hate them. Running their big mouths all the damn time,â he declared, his bitter tone making her knees quiver in arousal.
âTell me, baby, youâre not one of those, are you?â He urged.
One way to access a womanâs weaknesses was to put her up against another.
The girl whose name he had forgotten the second she uttered it, shook her head with desperation. Had he asked her to admit to murder, she would have agreed.
âNo!â She yelped, alarmed at his lack of interest. âIâm so dumb. Barely passing this degree,â she confessed, her voice cracking as she spread her knees for his attention.
âHmâreally?â He mocked, and she nodded, her body pleading for his approval. âBut your course is so tough. You must be so smart.â Heeseungâs tone dripped with sarcasm, his frown hinting at his displeasure.
The girl choked; her breaths alarmingly rapid as Heeseungâs fingers trailed closer to her clothed centre. âBut not meâthereâs some smart girls in my class. IâIâm not like them, Hee,â she rambled, her eyes screwing shut.
âSmart girls likeâyourself?â He threw the bait, challenging her, and she immediately shook her head, her body jolting as Heeseung flicked his fingers against her centre.
âNot meânot me. This other girlâAh!â She bit her tongue, her body trembling as Heeseung drew faint circles against her clit. âThereâsâY/N!â
Bingo.
âSheâs like the smartestâoh!â
Heeseung halted his movement, his teeth gritting in frustration, anger bubbling up his throat as the girl kept moaning into her words, prolonging this ordeal. He hadnât spent the last three days coercing a second-year pharmacology student from your college to serenade and romance. He wanted information.
The girlâs arched frame twisted at the sudden lack of touch, her wet gaze darting to Heeseungâs in urgency.
âSpeak,â he commanded bluntly, his usual sugar-coated tone gone along with his smile.
The girlâs expression faltered, her blood turning cold. âUhâthereâs this girlâsheâs really smart, always acing her exams,â she responded reluctantly, her insecure gaze attempting to read his intentions.
Heeseungâs hand slid back down to her leaking centre, his movement more vigorous as he wrapped his lips on her earlobe. âYouâre so hot like thisâlike a dumb bitch for me,â he drawled, sucking her sensitive flesh.
His sudden shift in demeanour seemed like a hallucination, his voice now intentionally low and sultry. âYou wouldnât want to be like Y/N, hm? Youâre my good girl.â
The girl was a goner. Her head dropped back onto his shoulder, her eyes shut, and her body trembling from his touch, his previous indifference a distant memory.
âYeahâI amâsoâso dumb for you,â she babbled nonsensically. Heeseungâs flicks quickened.
âThat bitchâsheâs so smart and talks too much, probably why no one likes her. Such a loserâ I donât know why Park Jongseongâs crazy for her.â
Heeseungâs arm faltered, his body freezing.
The girl, lost in the throes of her arousal, ignored it, urgently pressing her hand down to maintain the pressure. âSheâs so full of herself. Bet sheâs as virgin as a nunâbut maybeâshe finally let poor Jongseong have a go, who knoâAh!â
Heeseung yanked her hair back, his clenched fist tightening and ripping a few strands. His gaze was predatory, chest heaving as he stared down at the horrified girl.
âIâll rip that tongue out, sweetheart,â he hissed, his venomous tone cutting through and gripping her heart with horror.
The sickening words replayed like a broken record. A searing sting flared inside his chest, his jaw tightening as he thought of that name: Park Jongseong.
Of course, it was the guy from the photosâit fit him perfectly. His arrogant, self-righteous demeanour, that overly exaggerated smile on his face as he held you. It had to be him.
The imagery the stupid girl on his lap painted, her words dripping with malice for his Y/N; everything began to suffocate his lungs.
Heeseung stared down, his hand still gripping her locks as she looked at him with disbelief.
As he released his grip, she winced, her eyes wet with tears.
Heeseung wrapped an arm around her waist like a shackle, holding her captive as he leaned forward and picked up the steaming hot coffee she had ordered. She flinched as he pushed the cup to her lips.
âDrink.â
The girl stared at him like he had grown two heads.
âItâs too hotââ
âLeave one sip behind, and youâll wish you had listened.â
Her heart raced, body turning cold. Heeseungâs chilling gaze and crooked smile were laced with demonic intent, making her stomach churn. She had never felt her organs shrivel with just the sight of a manâs empty gaze.
She realised at that very moment. She had to obey or else⌠she didnât even want to consider what could happen.
She took the heated cup, gulping down her spit to ease the pressure in her throat.
Then she clung to the cup and downed the entire thing. The first rush of liquid scalded the roof of her mouth. Burns trailed down her tongue, to her throat, buzzing all the way into her stomach. Bloody broils flared up, her muscles jolting in agony as pain overwhelmed her cognition. With an excruciating sob, she dropped the empty cup, shattering it on the ground as she tried screaming for help.Â
The busy cafĂŠ didnât seem to notice anything but the shatter, rolling their eyes at the coupleâs antics before continuing with their own endeavours.
Heeseung patted her head, smiling in satisfaction. âThatâs my good girl.âÂ
The sobbing girl tore herself from his lap. Standing on quivering limbs, she scrambled to grab her purse and dashed towards the exit.
To Heeseungâs delight, the red-haired bimbo wasnât so useless after all. He now had a name: Park Jongseong.
Grabbing his phone, Heeseung dialled a number.
âSim, for your birthday, letâs plan something crazy.â
â.â.â.â.â.â.â
The homeroom buzzed with chatter as students scattered to join their friends at the end of the lecture. While most were preparing to head home, you had to stay back for the weekly council meeting. With your head slack on the table, you shut your eyes and let out an irked groan, wishing you could abandon all your duties and just scramble home.
âY/N, just resign already. Youâre too exhausted,â Yeji, your best friend, called out, rolling her eyes as she zipped up her tote bag.
You groaned again, slamming your head against the table. âYou have no idea how badly I want to take your stupid advice,â you whined, rubbing your temples in pain.
Yeji, her pink hair perfectly styled, retouched her lip gloss and eyed your sulking frame. âYou take on too much for no reason,â she sighed, finishing her touch-up and patting your head.
âCanât you loosen up? Look at me, we have finals coming up, and Iâm off clubbing with Jaemin,â she gloated, her smile widening at the thought of her boyfriend.
Getting into the worldâs best university on an eighty per cent scholarship was tough, but no one prepared you for the strenuous part: upholding those perks. Paired with a demanding course load, extracurriculars and volunteer work felt like a constant nuisance.
âI wishâŚâ you muttered.
Knowing her best friendâs upright nature, Yeji shook her head in defeat.
âBesides that, Iâll be having fun soon,â you iterated, and Yeji instantly grew alert, her eyes wide with anticipation.
âYouâre getting a boyfriend?â She gasped, grabbing your shoulders to turn you towards her in excitement.Â
âNo!â You dismissed, and Yejiâs excitement died as soon as it began, releasing your shoulders in frustration.
âAt this point, I strongly believe you wish to die a virgin,â she remarked, running her fingers through her dark strands, her gaze cold. âYou even rejected Jongseong,â Yeji huffed.
You winced.
It had been three months since you had been hit by a truck of feelings from the raven-haired boy. Three months of discomfort and pain.
You were introduced to your senior, Park Jongseong, as a good friend of Na Jaemin. The two friend groups had merged, and soon the initial trioâYeji, Ji-min, and youâgrew an acquaintanceship with their group: Jay, Jaemin, and Jisung.
Since you had been to an all-girls school, the first few months of interactions were painstakingly awkward. You felt like an outsider even in a room full of familiar people.
You envied your best friends Yeji and Ji-min for their effortless socialisation skills. Whilst they enjoyed trips and study sessions with the guys, you drew a line, only speaking when spoken to.
In the first year, you were constantly running away from this new world of discomfort. Jay, however, refused to draw a barrier. Like the definition of a headstrong man, he never gave up. Gestures like stopping you in the hallways to talk about his hobbies and inviting you to all his parties showed you that Jay was making a real effort at friendship.
All of it came tumbling down when he confessed to you. The friendship you treasured faded, and you both became strangers again.
âDonât bring him up,â you gritted, your heart plummeting as you remembered all the distant memories.
You recalled that nightmarish day. You might take this to your grave but Park Jongseong was your first crush. You secretly liked him throughout the farce of friendship.
He held your bag after class, joined extracurriculars like the music society and learned amazing guitar skills. He took you shopping to destress after you failed your lab assessment and played silly nursery rhymes on his guitar to make you laugh. Everything was special until the last day of the second semester.
Jay had asked you to a movie, and as always, you assumed he meant everyone in the friend group, so you called Yeji and Ji-min along.
The moment he saw you walk in with the girls, his expression fell with dismay. Instead of speaking to you about it, he handed the popcorn to your friends and left.
You followed him instantly, but maybe you shouldnât have.
âJay!â You chased after him, your heels thudding against the pavement, confusion painted on your features.
He paused in his tracks and turned, his eyes darkening.
âWhatâs wrong?â
Instead of responding, Jayâs gaze narrowed, a strained chuckle leaving his mouth. âDonât act dumb now,â he rasped, his voice bitter.
You opened your mouth to question him, but he suddenly stepped close, his towering frame making your insides queasy.
âItâs always the same with you. How long will you pretend?â Jayâs voice trembled with accusation.
âDo you not see me? Chasing after you like a fucking loser. Iâve spent months trying to figure you out. Stop this game of hide and seek!â He roared, tightening his hold on your shoulders as he stared down at you like a wounded wolf.
You felt so wronged and hurt, your throat clogging up with emotions.
Because Jay was right. You were playing dumb, looking past his feelings, ignoring your own to hide away. Your insecurities and fear of disappointment were louder than his words, ringing in your head like tinnitus.
Because you had always assumed someone as rich and well-put-together as Park Jongseong didnât need to like a mediocre girl on a scholarship.
You felt that breaking his heart might save his friendship, might save you from the pain of losing his love. So you wanted to sever all chances before you even tasted his love.
âWhatâre you talking about?â
âTell me, Y/N. Have you ever once liked me?â He questioned, his gaze softening as he held your face in his hands, his pupils trembling with need.
Yes.
Yes!
âNo.â
His arms dropped, his gaze dull and empty as he stared into your tearful eyes.
âWeâre good friends, Jay. Look, we donât have to rush into anythingââ
You felt chills run down your spine as he cut off your words, his tone sharp and damaging.
âDelete my number. Donât ever come see me.â
âAnd if I ever accidentally find my way back to you, slap me awake like this again.â
He tore his arm from your grip and you two never spoke again.
And then a week later, he started dating your friend Ji-min.
âY/N!â You snapped out of your thoughts, head swirling with flashbacks as Yeji shouted for your attention. âWhat fun were you referring to?â She shifted closer, curiosity written across her features.
You smiled, flicking her forehead away.
âJake suddenly wants a big birthday bash for his twenty-second,â you told her, thinking back to this morning when he was talking over the phone with his friends, inviting them to his party.
Seeing you pass by, he called you back, his face glowing with excitement as he ended the call.
âInvite all your friends and their mamasâ itâs my 22nd!â He roared, and you imagined heâd burst into a Taylor Swift, â22â, any minute now.
âJake? He usually calls them juvenile,â Yeji giggled, thinking back to the time she had a fat crush on your brother and how she stuck to him like a leech until he shooed her off.
You nodded, rolling your eyes at your brotherâs weird mood swings. âHe wants to hold a grand party. Youâre invited, I guess,â you waved her off, and Yeji laughed, her eyes twinkling in joy.
âOf course, Iâll be coming with my boo,â she winked. âIs it at the house?â Yeji asked, twirling her strands excitedly.
You shook your head, tidying your desk and packing up. âHeâs planning it with his friend, Heeseung.â
Yeji gasped at the name as if it had evoked a cocktail party effect, her eyes wide as she held onto your shoulders. âThat friend you had a wet dream of?â
Your jaw dropped, eyes wide in fear, darting across the hall to make sure no one heard her. âShut up!â You yelled, your cheeks flushed red, the memory of your filthy mind fuelling your embarrassment.
Yeji laughed, a playful glint flashing in her hazel eyes. âWhat, did I lie?â She crudely announced, and you felt helpless, unable to feign innocence.Â
The night had left you shaken up. The truth was, you had never felt this affected by a hallucinationâ imagination, whatever it was, it blurred the lines between reality and fiction. You imagined Heeseung fondling your breasts, kissing your lips. All of it was a newfound hunger.
You scrambled to call Yeji soon after to regain some composure. After a long discussion, her diagnosis was a âsevere case of ovulationâ, and she prescribed, âgetting dicked down asapâ.
After that night, you kept wishing for more hallucinations, but your brain refused to cooperate. You had to rely on a picture you had stolen from Jakeâs phone of Heeseung in a black button-down with his legs spread apart on the couch, his lap seeming so inviting that your abdomen clenched with need.
Maybe, you were ovulating. But why was it so intense?
âYou know, maybe you should shoot your shot with him,â Yeji suggested, patting your shoulder as she stood alert, waving at the man standing in the doorway.
âMy rideâs here, bye girly!â Yeji waved, setting her already perfect hair for the nth time before skipping to the smiling blonde, his gaze practically shooting hearts at your friend. Jaemin grabbed her hand, and they scattered off.
You sighed.
Lee Heeseung, what are you doing to me?
â.â.â.â.â.â.â
Booming music drowned out any chance of conversation. Guests sprawled in like ants to a sugar cube. Faces glowed with joy, arms carried gifts, and gazes sparkled with anticipation as they searched for the man of honour.
But it wasn't the birthday boy they sought. It was Lee Heeseung, the man who had invited the entire university to his farmhouse. It was a privilege, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
During his four years at the university, he hadnât spared anyone a glanceâlet alone befriended anyone. When news circulated of Sim Jaeyunâs birthday invite at Heeseungâs, everyone jumped at the chance.
Girls skipped lessons to find the perfect dress, while guys ransacked their wardrobes for branded watches. Curiosity grew almost sleep-depriving. Who was this friend that Heeseung, the man who never let anyone into his circle, deemed worthy of a lavish party? For weeks, the university buzzed with gossip and excitement leading up to this day.
Heeseungâs gaze was fixed on the main entrance, his lips pressed into a thin line. He remained unmoving as over-enthusiastic people rushed to greet him.
He knew the world like the back of his hand. They hated him and despised his arrogance, yet they flocked to him like moths to a flame. All he had to do was give them a chance, let down his guard and the world would surrender in his palms. But it didnât matter.
As long as he had your attention, the world could be his.
Jake appeared out of nowhere, his arm settling on Heeseungâs shoulder, smiling as his soccer mates walked in.
âYouâre ignoring the entire hall,â Jake muttered, his grip tightening on Heeseungâs shoulder to warn him.
Heeseung glanced at the clock for the nth time, his fingers tapping impatiently against his glass. He barely acknowledged the birthday boy's attempt at conversation, his irritation mounting as the clock ticked on without your presence.
âWhere is she?â He questioned.
âShe had a presentation to finish up,â Jake said, rolling his eyes. âSheâll be here with Yeji and Jaemin soon.â
Jake wasnât stupid. He had once believed he was special to Heeseung. The notorious case of Heeseungâs egocentrism was a popular topic in the universityâs hallways. Even his soccer buddies claimed Heeseung was a nutcase with extreme intelligence.
When Heeseung approached the basketball team and defeated Jake, the established ace of Seoul University, Jake developed a sense of respect and admiration for him. Despite everyoneâs claims, Jake realized Heeseungâs issue wasnât indifference or social deficiencies.
Everyone was infatuated, enthralled, and unequivocally aware of Heeseungâs gift; he commanded attention because he was extraordinary. The problem was that Heeseung didnât care about them, and when people realized this, their fantasy shattered, leaving them scraping for bits of attention and bitter envy.
Jake knew Heeseung kept him around for a reason, but despite his awareness, Jake was willing to be a pawn if it meant catching Heeseungâs attention.
âJakey Jakeyâ itâs your birthday!â Jake looked away, finding his best friend, Park Sunghoon, on the other end of the hall with a gift bag. Jakeâs smile grew, and he signalled to Heeseung that he was heading over. Heeseung nodded, and Jake scurried off.
Heeseung averted his gaze, staring back at the main entrance. The delay grew unbearable, and he considered heading out to the parking lot when suddenly he spotted Jaemin and Yeji walking inside.
He stood alert, his gaze tensely fixed on the door.
He held his breath as you walked into his line of sight. His body felt the shift, breath quickening. His fists tightened, and his gaze traced your body with unfiltered haste.Â
Fuck, that black body-con dress, outlining your curves, hugging your body like a second skin. His grip on the glass tightened. The dress revealed your defined collarbones, and the slit from the knee paired with black-heeled boots showcased your smooth, honeyed legs. Your hair was curled slightly, silky strands falling in waves against your cheeks, reaching your elbows.
Heeseungâs head throbbed as he tried to decipher his feelings. Seeing you walk inside with that dress made something rise in his throat, and it wasnât from the alcohol. It was worse, mentally and physically damaging.
How fucking demeaning. He was a man who never felt the burn of envy, but a fucking dress had him feeling so weakâso horribly jealous.
He wished he could tear it off and burn it to ashes like the scorching flames in his own blood. He had planned this moment all morning, intending to walk up to you with a smile, but now he found it difficult to breathe, let alone move.
However, the world doesnât stop. Even if he couldnât move, you very much could.
Your stray gaze finally landed on the familiar figure, and you walked up to him. You still werenât mentally prepared to face the man you had been dreaming of for the past few weeks, but you found it unkind to ignore him when he had planned this lavish party.
You smiled, holding out a small gift bag.
âAs far as I recall, itâs not my birthday,â Heeseung finally found his voice, his cheeky comment making you narrow your eyes.
âItâs basic etiquette to bring something when you visit someone,â you replied a hint of playfulness in your tone. You caught sight of the gift display in the backdrop where innumerable presents were mounted on the table. âIâll take it there,â you politely acknowledged.
You were ready to walk off, but Heeseung pulled you back, instantly grabbing the present. Taken aback, you opened your mouth to question him, but he ignored your curious gaze.
Everyone stealing reserved glances at the duo paused, their eyes wide, jaws dropped in amusement. Like a boy opening his Christmas gifts, Heeseung rushed to untie the ribbon and tear through the wrapping paper.
âHeeseung, itâs not that greatâŚâ your panicked voice cut through, cautious of everyoneâs expectant gaze on your gift. The plea went right through him, and he finally discovered a small clear bottle.
You brought him cologne.
You had racked your brain for days on what to bring him, and you had decided upon a blackberry cologne. The succulent scent carried a sinful aura, an intimidating and enigmatic aroma that perfectly captured Lee Heeseung.
Heeseung ran his thumb over the label. Then he unscrewed the top and sprayed it on his wrist. As he brought it to his nose, his heart felt fuller than before.
He imagined you walking into a Jo Malone store, attentively trying numerous scents until the abundant smells overstimulated your senses as you thought of him. How long did you spend deciding on the perfect one? How long did he manage to fill up your head?
âItâs just a small gift,â you mumbled, analysing his features.
âItâs perfect.â He said it with so much sincerity, you had no choice but to believe him.
âWhereâs my gift?â Jake appeared with some of his rowdy friends from the sports club, his arm linked with the ice skater, Park Sunghoon. He pouted dramatically, his bottom lip sticking out. You rolled your eyes at his antics.
âLast I checked, you asked me to buy you a Nintendo Switch as an early birthday present,â you replied. Jake gave you a mock glare. âThat was ages ago,â he huffed.
Before you could retort, you caught Yeji's eyes from across the room. She stood by the bar, urgently motioning for you to come over. The alarmed look on her face made you excuse yourself from the guys as you hurried to her.
Yeji grabbed your arm with an intense grip, struggling to catch her breath as a crazed laugh bubbled up her throat.
âYouâre kidding,â she gasped. âYou were talking about Lee Heeseung!â She roared with laughter, her expression priceless as she turned to you.
You stared at her, confused. âWhat?â
âY/N!â She shook you slightly, her wide eyes trembling with excitement. âYou donât know him? Heâs popular across the entire district!â
Seeing your blank expression, Yeji took it upon herself to fill you in. She pulled out her phone and showed you Seoul University's popular forum dedicated to Heeseung. As she clicked through the links, you realised the man was practically the definition of perfection.
His father owned a large-scale pharmaceutical corporation, and Heeseung was the sole heir. Despite this parental security, he was at the top of his classes, captain of the basketball team, head of the arts and music society, and president of student affairs. By his second semester, he had already secured an internship at HYBE, a massive healthcare conglomerateâseparate from his fatherâs influence. He was so incredibly intelligent that the college even commemorated his achievements with dedicated newsletter columns and interview sessions.
As you absorbed this overwhelming information, Yejiâs tone flattened, her lips pressing into a thin line. âBut, Y/N, heâs known as a player,â she reluctantly added. âApparently, there hasnât been a girl he hasnât had.â
You stared silently at the soles of your boots.
Of course, he was a player. Anyone would drop to their knees for a chance to be with him. You had read somewhere that gravitational pull was the strongest in a black hole, but science hadnât investigated the worldâs pull towards Heeseung. You had only met him a couple of days ago, yet he had already made you feel so unbearably enraptured.
Ruminating over Yejiâs words, you were speechless at your own disappointment. How could he affect you so terribly?
âButâheâs never had anything serious,â Yeji tried to console you, squeezing your shoulder.
Throat tightening, you attempted a smile.
âWho invited them?â Yeji's gasp broke through your thoughts, her mouth hanging open, eyes bulging in shock as she stared behind you.
You shifted, turning to see what had her so stunned.
Your jaw dropped.
In walked a couple, hand in hand, wearing complimentary outfits. A couple you hadnât spoken to in ages, a couple that haunted your sleepless nights: Park Jongseong and Yu Ji-min.
Your frantic gaze searched for Jake, conflicting emotions swirling across your face as you tried to make sense of your surroundings. Your older brother stood inattentive, engrossed in a conversation with Sunghoon as Jay approached him, wearing a broad smile. You watched them exchange a quick handshake, Jake accepting a large gift box.
âWhy would Jake invite him?â Yeji huffed.
You didnât knowâbut a gut feeling told you this was meant to happen.
The familiar gaze met yours. He was now heading to the leather couch beside his girlfriend, his eyes trained on you. You offered him a tight smile, your insides trembling in growing anxiety.
Jay was stern, his gaze cold and disdainful. Whilst maintaining eye contact, he pulled his girlfriend to sit on his lap, his grip tight on Ji-minâs waist as she whispered something into his ear.Â
Your smile dropped at his immaturity.
You had lost both your friends, Jay and Ji-min, because of your mistakes. You had avoided them like the plague, and something deep within you suggested that the mysterious rumours circulating around the university werenât just random gossip; they were spread by someone you had once considered as close as Yeji.
Something more sinister gnawed at your insides.Â
Heeseung.
Amidst the chaos, you felt someoneâs piercing gaze on you. Like a magnet, you found him. Under the blue strobe light, Heeseung stood leaning against the barâs counter, flanked by a few girls, with his eyes fixed on you, watching like a hawk.
Though he was a strangerâa complete nobody in your worldâyou still felt he was reading you like an open book. Anxiety washed over you, your throat drying up under his intense scrutiny. If your life was split into meaningful chapters, Heeseung knew it by heart, his gaze uncomfortably invasive, expectant as if judging your next move.
A waiter zooming by caught your attention, and you pounced on the opportunity. Fingers trembling, you grabbed a glass of champagne and downed it in one go, the liquor leaving a bitter burn in your throat.
âY/N, you donât hold your liquor well,â Yeji frowned. One drink never hurt anyone, and besides, this was a partyâeveryone was soon going to lose their marbles.
You turned away, grabbing another drink from a passing waiter.
âY/N, stop!â Yeji warned. You smiled tightly, ready to throw more alcohol into your system.
In a flash, Heeseung, who had been a good fifty people away, stood towering over you. He snatched the glass from your grasp and chugged it down. You watched in disbelief as he slammed the empty glass on a passing waiterâs tray, his gaze darkening as he stared at you. Yeji took it as her cue to scram, rushing to accompany her boyfriend on the dance floor.
Your stomach clenched with want. Even simply dressed in a black t-shirt and leather jeans, his expression sour, his appeal was uncanny. He made you forget the elephant in the room.
âSoâ he bothers you that much?â Heeseung spat, his voice low and venomous.
He had planned to watch from the sidelines. Jongseongâs name was enough for Heeseung to find sources and sniff out your past link. He was told you had rejected the boy, but that didnât match Jakeâs description of your first crush.
It didnât take long for Heeseung to realise that you really did like Jongseong, your affection reflected in that picture you still chose to keep. The reason you had declined his proposal wasnât a mystery either. You feared ruining a chance at friendship, and that conclusion made Heeseung sleepless.
Heeseung had orchestrated this party and invited Jongseong, just to watch your heartbreak. He wanted to dwell in the forlorn misery in your gaze, relish in the fury and hatred fuelling your agonised expression. He wanted you to shatter so that you were left with no choice but to find him. So that he could collect those shards and piece you together. For himself.
Yet here you stood, bothered and apologetic. There wasnât one bad bone inside you, your heart pure like the sunshine that streaks through his curtains every morning.
âHow do you know about Jay?â You curiously pointed out, folding your arms and gazing up at the man.
Heeseung flinched at the nickname. Tightening his fists, he responded with gritted teeth. He didnât need to lie for this.
âJake.â
One word and your face crumbled, your finger pointing at the blonde who laughed beside his friends. âWhy canât that idiot keep his mouth shut?â You complained, glaring daggers. You couldnât believe your brother blurted out your business to Heeseung.
âDo you still want him?â
Say it.
Say it, and heâll burn this place down, along with Park Jongseong, leaving you with nothingânot even a corpse to mournâjust a speck of remains and dirt.
âI donât.â
His eyes shifted back to their brown.
âI just wish I hadnât lost my friends.â You glanced down at your shoes, face shrouded in despair as you reminisced the past.
Heeseung watched the sorrow flicker in your deprived eyes.
This was simpler than he had imagined.
âLetâs get the party started!â Jake yelled at the top of his lungs, carrying a huge celebratory bottle of champagne as everyone huddled around him.
Yeji appeared by your side, dragging you towards the crowd where Jake prepared to unseal the wine, like a cake-cutting ceremony. From your peripheral vision, you noticed Heeseung walk up beside youâuntil everyone, including Jake, roared for him to come forward.
You watched Heeseung shake his head dismissively, but Jakeâs adamant smile made him falter. For the first time, you saw a crack in Heeseungâs stern façade, a genuine sense of joy flashing through his expression.
You watched with intrigue as he stepped up, and Jake finally celebrated his twenty second. Everyone cheered as Jake popped the cork and showered Heeseung and Sunghoon with the essence.
Yeji over-excitedly gasped. During her overjoyed dance, she accidentally slipped forward, toppling her glass of wine onto your dressâs front. You quickly wiped at it, but the liquid soaked into the flimsy fabric with ease.
âShitâ sorry boo,â she cried over the music. You shook your head, dismissing her concern.
âIâm heading to the washroom,â you muttered. She nodded, unsure of your words, as the loud roaring and music drowned everything.
You slipped away from the chaos, excusing your way through until you managed to escape to the other end of the hall. You followed the dim hallway, the raucousness dissolving, as you searched for the nearest bathroom. You found a door at the far end with a staircase to your right and sped towards it.
âLong time.â
You turned, instantly freezing up.
Jay stood at the other end, speaking with his familiar calculated baritone. He stepped forward, watching your shocked expression morph into disappointment.
âOh, seems like youâre not too happy to see me here,â he claimed, now standing a mere step away, his tone dripping with malice. âIs the princess running away again?â The darkness returned, his jaw clenched.
You gulped, standing upright. âI donât have anything to say to you,â you told him, turning away.
A bitter chuckle escaped his chest. âOf course, you donât,â he spat. âNow that youâve found a man, you donât have much to say,â he claimed, running his fingers through his dark strands, his gaze menacing.
Your throat burned with hostility. âYouâre ridiculous,â you huffed. âFollowing a girl when youâve already got a girlfriendâseems like I dodged a bullet.â You uttered the words, disturbed by his arrogant nonchalance, and instantly the atmosphere grew with heightening tension.
Your cruel words seemed to inflict some damage as Jayâs body trembled, his fists tightening in aggravation.
Because you were right. He knew it.
As you stepped away, all common sense evaded him. He grabbed your wrist and slammed you to the wall, a gasp wrenching out of your chest as he hovered above, his hands gripping your waist with an iron grip.
âI never needed you,â he whispered, his eyes wide and pained as you attempted to free yourself, but Jayâs grip on your waist only tightened. âIâve just liked the chase. You were so full of yourselfâso pathetic. Nothing about you ever made me feel somethingâanythingââ
A bloodcurdling scream wrenched out of your throat as a shattering sound reverberated within your frame. Your eyes bulged out, heart trashing and body quivering in horror. One second Jay was standing, staring at you like a madman, and the next, he was knocked to the ground, blood splattering against your cheeks, staining your dress and skin scarlet.
Breathe. Take a deep breath. Breathe.
You plummeted to the floor, your knees giving out as Jayâs forehead and neck covered in red pooled on the ground. You internally prepared yourself as you looked up, staring at the perpetrator.
A dull void of a gaze, Heeseungâs hand was wrapped around a half-shattered bottle with its sharpened edges dripping Jayâs blood. Your insides clenched in horror.
Heeseung stepped closer as Jayâs limp frame scrambled to sit up, his gaze chasing the danger, his grip on his head loosening as he spotted the man.
âYouâyou fucking lunaticâwhat the fuck is wrong withââ
Jayâs yelps fell on deaf ears as Heeseung discarded the bottle and plummeted to the floor before you, his pupils drained of colour and hands trembling as he caressed your cheeks. His thumb rubbed at the splashes of blood, eyes wide with terrorâa terror you had never seen. More than his own actions, his line of concern was the beads of red staining your complexion.
âHeeâŚâ you tried to speak, your throat dry and lips quivering.
âItâs okayâyouâre okay,â his voice trembled as he consoled himself, more than anyone, his gaze frantically running over your body.
What you didnât realise was Jay reaching out to grab the loitering bottle. Heeseungâs warm gaze and words were so captivating, pulling you away from the unfolding catastrophe. Suddenly, the fantasy shattered. Jay smashed the bottle against the back of Heeseungâs head.
You screamed, your body jerking alert as you pulled Heeseung into your arms, sobbing aloud. Jay stood on trembling legs, glaring at Heeseung with a poisonous look before limping away. You tightened your hold on Heeseung, your body shaking despite his grievous injury. The attack was strong enough to lash out blood but not wilful enough to break the bottle like Heeseung had done.
You tried to pull away to check his wound, but Heeseung pulled you back into his chest, his arms wrapping around you protectively.
Fuck. He could die right now and heâd be happy. Over the fucking moon. He almost wanted to thank that low-life for brusing him because it worked in his favour.
You gazed upon him with sympathetic attention, like you were gazing upon a wounded puppy. You were finally in his arms, letting him envelop you. He inhaled the scent of vanilla and fresh peaches, his hold on your frame tightening with desperation.
He wanted to consume you.
âHeeseung, let me see your wound,â you softly cried into his shoulder, unable to breathe at the intensity of his clutch.
âItâs not deepânothing compared to what that moron will take home,â Heeseung arrogantly claimed. His prideful tone made your insides hurl; it reminded you of the initiation. Heeseung had started it all; he had slammed a glass bottle into Jayâs head.
You pushed him back, your gaze stern as you met his aggravated one. âWhy?â You cried hysterically, recalling the insanity of the previous moment. âHow could youââ
Heeseungâs expression grew colder than ice. âIâll break every bone he used to touch you,â he declared, the honesty in his tone sending chills down your spine.Â
âYou literally almost murdered him!â You screeched.
Heeseung cracked a deluded smile. âHeâll wish I had.â
You felt speechless. Utterly stunned into silence. What did that mean? You wanted to assume that his fury made him speak nonsense, that he didnât mean a word. However, when you stared into Heeseungâs gaze, your stomach turned at the resolute darkness, his words horrifyingly blunt and absurd.
You were about to call him out when you noticed trail of blood slither down the side of his face. You gasped. "You need to get to a hospital,â you urged.
âAnd explain what?â He scoffed with a playful smile.
You felt bewildered. Of course, you didn't care at the moment! As long as he got treated, you didn't care what lie he spat out.
You glared at him. âYou need to get it checked out, Heeseung,â you muttered with concern, noticing the blood kept gushing in thicker streams.
Wordlessly, Heeseung grabbed your hand, intertwining your fingers, and nodded as he pulled you to stand. You sighed in relief, grateful that he was finally listening. His grip never faltering on your hand, you both turned towards the venue.
Heeseung suddenly pulled you back, ignoring your confusion, instead climbing up the staircase. âWhatâre you doing?â You groaned, attempting to retract, but Heeseung just kept walking.
Upstairs, the living room was carpeted with posh couches and chairs. You passed by expensive paintings hung up on the wall as Heeseung took you inside a dark room, stalking through blindly until he pushed at another door.
Lights flickering on, you surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings. Heeseung had brought you to a bathroom. You glanced at him in confusion as he shut the door and turned towards you.
âHeeseung, whatâre you doing?â
âYou said I need to get my injury checked out,â he responded, leaning down and grabbing a first aid kit from the cubby hole. âIâm doing it,â he flashed you a clever smile, his eyes shining with amusement.
Even if you were about to throw a tantrum, you couldnât anymore. Heeseungâs words, his eyes, his smile, everything was enough for you to sit still and obey. You watched as he stepped towards the large mirror. He casually tilted his head to inspect the wound.
Expressionless, he opened up the first aid kit, grabbing a transparent bottle and cotton pads like a professional, as if he had already addressed such wounds in the past. With practised nonchalance, he soaked the cotton pad with the liquid and pressed it into the wound.
You winced, instinctively jumping forward to grab the bottle from his hand.
âWho deals with a wound like that!â You screeched hysterically.
Heeseung turned, his brows raised, lips pressed in confusion. You put forward your palm, glaring at him. He surveyed your stern expression and, to your surprise, gave in easily, handing you the stained cotton ball without putting up a fight. You had imagined he would claim he knew moreâbut Heeseung just stared at you passively. You gulped, edging forward.
You knew the wound was deeply ingrained on the right side of his head, but reaching it was an issue. You were a good half a person shorter than him, his towering frame allowing you to reach only his chest. Standing on your tiptoes, you could only make it to his collarbone. You tried pushing up to reach the mark, but it remained physically impossible.
You noticed the amusement sparking in his expression, his lips curving into a gentle smile. âWhatâs so funny?â You gruffly questioned, and his smile only grew more.
He wrapped his arms around your waist and lifted you up, setting you on the cold basin. He turned, towering between your parted legs.
âThere.â
You quickly recovered, ignoring the butterflies fluttering in your chest or the heat stirring from where he had just touched you. You reached up. The angle allowed you to address the wound better.
Thankfully, there was a single cut, slashing down to the nape. You held the cotton against the cut, letting it absorb the blood, and then gently swirled it across.
Heeseungâs breathing suddenly grew heavy, and you flinched, quickly scanning his face for hints of pain. âIs it too bad?â You muttered, your eyes wide and voice reluctantly soft.
He nodded. It was painful, so unbearably agonising like he was thrown into a fuming furnace, burning and dying, then reincarnating and burning every breath he spent in your vicinity.
His fists tightened, his gaze tracing your attentive expression, your lips puckered in deep concentration, hands so gentle, like a motherâs touchâor what Heeseung assumed mustâve been had he ever felt one. The past month he only dreamed of this momentâto have you before him, launched between his legs, attending only to him.
You cleaned up his wound with precision. He had practice, but your touch was magicalâa healing balm of its own.
âHave you done this for anyone else?â His question came out gruffer than expected, his stomach twisting as he imagined you perched on a sink like this for someone else.
You finished cleaning up, moving to grab the bandage. âOf course not,â you huffed, peeling the bandaid from the wrapper.
âI just know Iâm not supposed to stab wounds like that,â you sarcastically claimed, reminded of him jabbing his head. âYouâre the future doctor⌠you should know this,â you leaned to the side, pressing the band-aid into his scalp.
âThey teach us how to treat,â he stated. âWhatever gets the job done,â he shrugged.
You couldnât help but grimace at his words.
âIf you donât treat with the element of pain in mind, youâll hurt yourself more.â
Heeseung's throat was suddenly tighter than normal.
You wiped your hands with a tissue. Shifting closer, you inspected Heeseungâs injury one more time. You were about to get off the sink when you noticed glimmering bits of glass nestled in his hair. Impulsively, you reached out, flicking the strands.
âOhâ!â You jerked away, your finger cut by an unseen sharp edge that pierced the flesh.
Before the blood even oozed out, Heeseung sprang forward, grabbing your wrist, his gaze wide with horror as he impulsively pulled your finger into his mouth.
An astonished gasp escaped your chest.
Wide-eyed, you watched Heeseung suck around your finger.
At the first drop of your blood against his tongue, Heeseungâs eyes screwed shut, his body heating up, the metallic taste mixed with your skinâs sweetness creating a delicious buzz within his taste buds. Maybe if he drank enough, you'd really become a part of his being; if he fused your blood with his, you'd somehow become his.
He lapped at the drop incessantly, his hand reaching to lock your wrist in place as he covered your finger with saliva.
There was a shift in the air. You felt it in your bones.
As he looked up, meeting your eyes while simultaneously drenching your finger inside his mouth, your body began to heat up. A burn ignited at the centre of your legs, your imagination running wild, your limbs quivering.
Time became meaningless as he revelled in the euphoric bliss. When he noticed you werenât pulling away or flinching, his muscles clenched with want. Instead, your cheeks were redd, eyes fluttering in bashfulness. Warmth in his blood shot lower, pooling within his sensitive region.
A thrum vibrated his own being as Heeseung popped another finger into his mouth, his sucking growing intense, lascivious, and hungrier. Your body jolted as his slick enveloped your digits, his tongue tirelessly flicking and tasting.
You wanted to intervene and stop this madness, but suddenly you couldnât find your voice. Your throat refused to cooperate, and your lips denied any help.
His gaze was trained on your expressions, every blink, every gasp. He wanted to memorise the way your cheeks blushed scarlet and mouth opened in silent gasps. You were so beautiful, so perfect, so his.
âHeeââ you managed to choke out.
Heeseungâs hardness jerked in his pants, his body shaking with want. You had just attempted to say his name.
Suddenly, he pulled his mouth away and yanked you to the floor. You fell against his chest, your feet staggering on the marble floor, a stunned gasp escaping your mouth. He didnât let you process it, his moves sharp and abrupt.
Your jaw dropped as you felt the tent of arousal straining against your abdomen. Your underwear was drenched, muscles taut as the reality dawned upon you. Lee Heeseung wanted you.
âFeel thatâfuckâdo you feel it?â He rasped against your ear, his hardened tone and body making you forget any coherent response, your body tensing up in his embrace. âFuck, youâre so beautifulâstunningâso breathtaking. You make meââ His voice cracked as he felt nestled his nose against your neck, sniffing like a dog.
âMake youâŚâ you pleaded for him to continue, craving his validation.
âMake me patheticâso damn pathetic,â he blurted, his mind elsewhere as he sucked onto your earlobe.
His kisses ran down your neck, and he urgently flicked the hair away to feast. He pressed his lips gently, wanting to savour every moment and worship every inch, but within the first contact, his patience was out the window. He pushed his throbbing body into yours, knocking you against the sink as his mouth opened wide, biting into your flesh.
His mind fell numb as your taste and scent drove him to the brink of euphoria. He found it strange how you turned him into a quivering virgin mess with just this.
Your gasps reverberated in the bathroom walls, your frame quivering.
His touch was desperate, persistent like he was holding onto you for dear life. Fingers interlocked in your strands, body shaking with restrain as his mouth devoured your neck, you felt lost in a sea of pure bliss. You hadnât had many sexual experiences in your life, but whatever make out sessions you had shared with boys in first year didnât live up to this feeling, this hungerâ from him.
âAh!â
Every hair on his body stood alert. Your sounds were so pretty just like your body. He knew he couldnât live without absolutely breaking your resilience. He had to tear through your exterior and drag out the vulnerable girl who moves to his rhythm, sings to his beat and responds to his call.
âHeeseungâAh!â Your body tensed, his name falling from your mouth as his kisses grew frantic, prolonged. You were so flustered that you felt the world knock off its axis. You urgently held onto his tense shoulders, hoping you wouldn't fall over with the intensity of his want.
Had it been any other girl in his arms, anyone, heâd have thrown her on the floor and fulfilled his depraved desires. Heâd have coerced her lust, used and abused her body like a mere object for his release. He wanted to do the same to you like heâd envisioned every night.
But you werenât any girl. You weren't a momentary escape. For the first time in his life, he wanted it both: lust and love. He wanted to ruin you for everyoneâ not just physically but emotionally. He wanted your body and your soul.
And you were the sole reason he unwillingly held back, restrained his desire to rip you apart.
Breathless and flustered, you struggled to gather your thoughts. Your body was begging for him, but you couldnât look past the reality.
This was Lee Heeseung, the hottest playboy, the genius, the most eligible bachelor in Koreaâand most importantly, your brotherâs best friend. You were calling his name so embarrassingly, and you were certain going all the way, heâd have nothing to do with you after tonight. He was like a forbidden fruit, so effortlessly desirable but never yours.
He will never be yours.
Your eyes burned with tears. You had managed to like him so much, and tonight it would crumble apart. Just the way you had ended up running from Jay, you should run from Heeseung before he takes your heart with him.
Determined, you pushed against him. The sudden move knocked him away, his reddened face twisting in confusion and frustration at the distance.
You quickly stumbled to the sink, splashing cold water on your face. Your complexion as red as a cherry, eyes shining, indicating hints of your previous bliss; Heeseung had littered red and purple marks all over your neck, his saliva still warming your flesh.
Behind you, Heeseung appeared, wrapping his arms around your waist. His eyes locked onto your reflection, his gaze darkening as it traced the curve of your neck. The heat between you intensified, his desire becoming evident as he pressed his aching body into yours. His eyes fluttered shut, savouring the sensation of your soft curves against him.
Embarrassingly, your abdomen clenched again.
âTâthis is wrong. Stop,â you babbled, pushing him away, your dejected tone falling on deaf ears as he pressed into you again. âHeeseungââ You turned, using all your force to push him away. He looked up, his eyes clearly unfocused.
The bathroom was getting stuffy now. His unnerving gaze made it hard to breathe. You stepped away, yanking the bathroom door open and rushing out into the bleak room, your breathing unnecessarily heavy. Your body was aching with arousal, wanting to go back into his arms and give yourself up.
Heeseung shot out, grabbing your waist and jerking you into his hold, his heavy breaths lingering against your earlobe. You tried pulling away when suddenly he whipped you around.
With darkness blinding your vision, you couldnât evade him as he yanked you into his chest and slammed his lips into yours.
The taste of cherries overwhelmed your senses, your body liquifying as he immediately plunged his tongue into your mouth, tasting you.
Every instant in his life had brought him to this moment. He knew it when he kissed your mouth, licked your tongue, traced your gumsâhe knew you were meant for him. Your beauty was his to ruin. Your taste was his to devour. Your love was his to take.
A strange sensation flared up in his chest, spreading to his heart. For the first time, all his medical knowledge felt uselessâhe didnât even feel human because even they could identify sensations.
Heeseung cupped your jaw, his lips trembling as he took in all your taste had to offer. His teeth clashed with yours, and his saliva dripped down your chin, his tongue rolling against yours as he poured an overwhelming flood of unnamed emotions into you.
His erection pressed against your lower stomach as he kissed you breathlessly. Suddenly, he was tearing at his buttons, desperate to feel your skin against his.
His kiss felt urgent, charged with arousal. You felt like you would blow into tattered pieces with the intensity of his touch, his deprivation and lust. Your fingers ran through his tousled strands, clenching for semblance of control as he sucked the soul out of you.
Your lungs flared up in discomfort due to the limited oxygen supply. You gasped, pushing at his shoulders with all your strength. Heeseungâs grip didnât falter. Your gasps grew more strained and alarming. Only when you felt tears blurring your vision did Heeseung relent.
Both of you panted like dogs, heaving breaths echoing through the room.
âStop it!â You screamed, pushing him away as you blindly searched for the exit.Â
Yellow lights flickered on, the sudden burst blinding you momentarily. Heeseung stood like a barrier blocking the door, his advantage clear as he seemed to have the room mapped out in his head.
Pupils blown out, he panted, his gaze clouded with the need to ravage and devour you whole. His undone button-down hung the shoulders, revealing honey toned chest and tense abs, descending lower into his pants. Your mouth dried up, but you forced yourself to remain unfeeling.
You voiced out, âLet me goââ
âWhy?â He asked gruffly. His eyes locked onto your trembling orbs, his brows arching in frustration.
âI canât have you?â He whispered.
His words were laced with provocation. He hadnât felt such an urgency to ruin someone, ever. He ached to feel your skin against his. He was hurting to fill you. If you wanted, he would plummet to his knees, stick out his tongue and shamelessly beg, plead.Â
You looked at him with indifference. âYouâre my brotherâsââ
âSo what?â He barked, his abrupt interruption making your breath stutter.
He stepped closer until he had you pressed against the wall, his arms on either side, locking you in place. You hadnât expected him to be this eager. Why did he care? A man like Heeseung could get any woman on earth. One look and theyâd drop their panties to the floor. Your glare grew more acrimonious at the realisation.
You pushed at his chest, your fingers grazing his warm skin, lighting up fireworks in your system. âI refuse to be your one-night fantasy, Heeseung,â you stuttered, unshed tears slipping out.
The fury in his gaze collapsed, his lips parting in stunned horror.
This was your chanceâŚto run free, to protect whateverâs left of your heart. Hastily, you dashed to the door, your grip pulling at the handle when suddenly Heeseung was behind you, enveloping your waist.
You screamed and struggled, your feet kicking the air as he carried you away and tossed you onto the bed. You fought against his manhandling, punching and pushing against him, but he just stared at you like you were a weak feline lashing out.
He let you burst out until your energy had depleted and you fell limp.
âYouâre fucking joking,â he laughed, disbelief coursing through his frame. âOne night fantasy?â He spat, his fists tightening at the audacity of your words.
You stared back, matching his intensity. âIsnât it famously known?" You huffed. âYou donât touch a woman youâve had once,â you snarled, your tone dripping with hostility.
That sent him spiralling. âI donât,â he declared. He watched the spark in your eyes die down, tears running down your cheeks. You attempted to get up, but Heeseung dropped to his knees, his hands scrambling to cup your face.
His heart pounded so hard, that he felt its drumming within his entire being. âYouâre not any woman,â his voice cracked, his throat tightening as he kissed your tears one by one. âYouâre mine."
He hadnât said anything more honest in his entire life.
Yet, you looked at him the sameâawfully sceptical, disbelieving. He had attempted to pour out his heart, claim you as his, but you gazed at him like he was a liar, a deceiver. Heeseung dropped his arms, anger surging within his blood.
âYou donât believe me,â he declared, his tone laced with bitter sarcasm.
You wanted to so badlyâbut you had no reason to. Why would he fall for you?
You watched as Heeseungâs gaze frantically scoured the room.
Something ominous was happening. You felt your stomach twist. You called his name, but he turned away, dashing towards the study table. You stared in confusion as he grabbed his car key.Â
Without any warning, Heeseung struck the sharp edge into his chest, stabbing himself in his sternum. A scream lurched out your throat, your breath stuttering as you attempted to get to him. He forced the key inside, tearing through the flesh in a line. Blood gushed through the wound, but Heeseungâs concentration remained firm.
âWhat the fuckâ stop-stop!â You screeched, finally getting a hold of his arm.
He didnât stop, still working on creating the art piece he wanted you to see. You felt lightheaded as you fought against his determined actions. Unable to knock him back into reality, you decided to fling at the key, letting it slip from his grasp.
Horror ceased your chest. The scarred flesh formed a letterâ your initial. You gazed up at him, your throat constricting as a soul-stirring chill escalated down your spine.
âIf I carve you in my blood, will you believe me?â A pained gaze, a torn heart, a horrifying smile.
Your limbs trembled.
You glanced at the wound, lips parting in silent horror.
This was absurdâ absolute madness. You couldnât wrap your head around it, but you knew it was awfully dangerous like playing with fire or chasing a lion into its den. You should be scaredâ fearing for your life. You should escape right now when you have the chance. You should run and never look back.
There are many shoulds' you encounter in life, but none of them hold any value when something as desirable holds you by the throat. Someone as irresistibly horrifying as Lee Heeseung. Whatever you did next, you knew your fate was sealed. Even if you ran, you couldn't outrun him-- and somewhere in the pool of longing in your depraved heart, you didn't want to. You didn't want to find a way out.
You leaned down and wrapped your lips around his honey peck, swirling your tongue and licking the scarlet oozing from his self-inflicted wound, surprising yourself as you swallowed it down.Â
Life and death stood at a standstill. Had you pushed him away, heâd still have ruined you, broken your soul to pieces and killed himself over hurting you. But you chose to acknowledge, indulge in his pained longing, accepting it like a lover's call, making him want to live moreâ chase moreâ love more.Â
Vision glazed, heart thundering against his chest, he wrapped you in a breathless embrace.
Amid the chaos, a strained voice invaded the room. âHeeâ fuck, weâve got a problem.âÂ
Your head shot towards the door, eyes wide with fear.Â
Fuck.
Your brother was at the door.
A rampant knock. âHeeâ you in there?â Jake's voice spilt into the heated room, your body freezing. Heeseung didn't even spare the door a glance as he pressed himself within your body.
âTheyâve come looking for drugsâ I donât know whoâs called but the police are searching the place.â
Your eyes bulged out of their sockets, jaw-dropping in horror.
Drugs? Police?Â
Instead of concern or a slight hint of fear, Heeseungâs grip tightened on your wrists, and he attacked your lips, invading your mouth. You gasped, caught off guard, your jaw opening in a silent gasp. He swallowed your protests, his hands releasing your wrists to grope your butt-cheeks as he hoisted you up in his arms while sucking on your bottom lip.Â
âBroâ are you seriously fucking someone right now?â Jakeâs incredulous tone made you want to dig a hole and bury yourself inside.
Heeseungâs grip on your buttocks tightened, his groans purposefully filling the room like a silent message for Jake. His knees gave out, knocking you down, your body crashing into the bed as he vigorously unbuckled his jeans. His warm tongue feasted through your mouth, swallowing your complaints, his head lolling into your shoulders as he pressed wet, hasty bites down your neck.Â
Another knock.Â
âFuckâ Heeseung get out here! Theyâve arrested Jongseong.â
You gasped.
What the fuck?
Heeseung paused.
Through glazed vision, he stared down at you. His lips slowly formed a smile that made every hair on your body rise.
Kim Sunoo had really come through, orchestrating a flawless drug raid, planting the evidence in Jongseong's bags and vanishing without a trace. Jay would waste away five years in prison for drug possessionâ barely enough to atone for the pain he gave you, hopefully enough to erase the longing that fucker held for you. Heeseung knew he owed his partner in crime a bottle of Soju next time Sunoo visited their shared farmhouse.
âHeeseung, we shouldââ
Heeseung licked your mouth, holding your trembling body in place, his fingers desperately tugging at your straps. Despite your persistence, he didnât care for anything at the moment. Someone could tell him that the entire house was on fire or that the universe had collided into a meteor, crumbling to bits and pieces, and heâd still ignore it all.
For now, he will spend every second making you hisâuntil his love is conveyed through his hunger, until his touch leaves scars and burns on your soul, until you love him enough to bleed him dry.
Synopsis: relentless schedule and physical distance from his girlfriend has already strained his nerves. But when Ni-ki finally reunites with you after a long month, he is met with useless nagging instead of affection, pushing him over the edge. The harsh words he utters in the heat of the moment may cause severe consequences.
Or
where a childish argument sparks up your silent treatment and a clingyâjealous ni-ki will do anything for your forgiveness.
idol niki x culinary student y/n
The room, seemingly more like the inside of a coffin, dwells in darkness and reeks of ancient pizza, boxes scattered on the dust-covered floor as evidence. You can barely walk without stepping against something grimy and viscous trickling down your bare feet as if protesting against your invasion.
Itâs not like you want to proceed inside this filthy den where the air is thick with the stench of rotting food but unfortunate for you, you happen to have a boyfriend who lives in this atrocious environment. Your eyes catch the faint light of his small device in the bleak darkness, and you sigh in frustration as you finally manage to make it to his bed after dodging lumps of dirt, food and empty cola bottles.
Heâs rolled over on his stomach with his back to you, a Nintendo switch in his grasp as heâs fully immersed in the game, vigorously pressing his thumb on the buttons.
Your heart almost softens at the sight, but youâre soon reminded of your surroundings as you feel the wetness pooling at the edge of his bed. Your fists clench in frustration, and you reach out to grab his blanket, flinging it off.
Brows knitting up, he turns, preparing to spew insults, assuming Jake has returned to steal more of his clothes. His jaw clenches shut, eyes widening in disbelief as he sees beautiful eyes blink down at him. He almost knocks himself off the bed, blinking in a daze. His lips curve up, a familiar warmth grazing his previously scowling expression.
âBaby?â Ni-ki rasps. Contrasting from his sharp gaze, his gentle tone which he only uses to address you, sparks butterflies in your stomach.
He doesnât notice the scowl contorting your featuresâ maybe too excited about seeing you after a distraught month as he sits up on his knees and yanks you down in his arms. Your chest tingles at the familiar warmth as his scent washes over you.
Despite the absolute disaster of a room, Ni-ki smells of soap and faint cologne, his damp hair brushing against your cheeks as he holds you tight against his chest. You know he only applies hygienic efforts to himself and not his surroundings.
You want to melt into his embrace and cling to his frame, but the surrounding wreckage snaps you out of it. You push at his shoulders, forcing him away to stand upright.
Now, even the darkness doesnât hide the absolute disappointment written across your features as you stare down at him. âI come to see you, thinking, finally, Iâll spend one free night with my boyfriend watching a movie, but youâre here snacking and playing video games,â you pointedly accuse, your gaze narrowed in anger.
Ni-ki winces, used to your gentle and sweet tone. Uncomfortable, he straightens up, and you hear his scapula release a crack as if crying in relief. Your anger flares up more at the sound.
âHave you hibernated since the tour? Jungwon and Sunoo said they havenât even seen you in days and they literally live here.â You fold your arms over your chest, aggravated.
Ni-ki breathes harder through his nose as he stands up, grabbing your hand and intertwining your fingers. Yellow streaks gleam in the brown moss of hair, his gaze running over your face in silence. He hasnât seen you in weeks, and the urge to drown you in hugs and kisses overrides your infuriated words.
âI missed youâ comeâre.â He tries to tug you close, but you block his embrace, turning away and trudging through the mess to flicker the lights on.
The abrupt flash of fluorescents makes Ni-ki squint, his lips pressing together and jaw tightening. You settle your eyes on Ni-ki.
Dressed in a grey hoodie and sweatpants, he appears incredibly frail and thin, jawline contorting as he watches you with narrowed eyes. You canât help but grimace as you notice the eye bags weighing down his face.
Your gaze softens. He looks unhealthily thin and pale. Suddenly, you want to cook him his favourite yakitori, rice, miso soup and teriyaki sashimi.
Truthfully, you loved cooking for your boyfriend. Despite being tired after training, you always made sure to feed him since he called it the best Japanese cuisine, sprinkling in a âbetter than my mother but donât tell herâ which always made you laugh.
As soon as his vision accommodates, he feels his heart stutter. Youâre a sight for sore eyes, bangs falling against your fluttering lashes, plump lips downturned, and brows arched pointedly. Even when youâre irritated, youâre the prettiest.
Ni-ki begins to approach you, making sure to steer clear of the cans of energy drinks loitering on the floor.
âStay where you are,â you huff as your gaze roams the expanse.
Now, you can clearly see the pizza boxes, tissues and ketchup packs scattered on the floor; clothes and baseball caps that shouldâve been in the laundry basket ages ago balled up in the corner of his room; PlayStation wires hanging down the television trailing across the centre, looping over the listless cola bottles.
âNi-ki, this room is a disaster. Clean it up,â you command, your voice firm and unwavering.
His smile falters, fists clenching as he feels fury bubble up his throat.
After getting done with the hectic tour, Enhypen is finally awarded a break from activitiesâ a two-week long break before he is pulled back into long practice sessions which last till night passes into dawn, till his muscles cry out in torment, till his body craves nothing but the softness of your curves. But of course, you had a jobâ much like him, and despite his desire to get you to himself, he knows you are a social butterfly, and your heart belongs in the culinary world. He hates this capitalist society and despises your company and his own for overworking you both.
Late-night calls and once-a-week encounters are his only getaway from the draining schedule.
But even these once-a-week encounters when he can recharge are now infected with your anger.
âCanât you at least greet me with a kiss like a nice girlfriend before turning into my mother?â He snaps, glaring daggers as he watches you grab a few of his jackets from the floor to fold.
You roll your eyes, leaning down to pick up more of his clothes, folding them keenly before setting them on the edge of his bedding.
âIâm heading out to cook. Clean this place up,â you ignore his tantrums, speaking firmly before shifting away to leave.
As he watches you turn away, he feels his blood pressure rise, head pounding in disbelief at the sheer audacity of your actions.
You come to him after what seems like forever, and still, your love for him is less than your love for the arts. Heâs certain even if you reunited with him after years, youâd prioritise your passions and leave him to master some fucking expensive caviar recipe you learned from a Russian chef in culinary school.
âY/N, get back here right now,â he speaks through gritted teeth, and you pause in your tracks, taken aback by the sudden bitterness.
Chest heaving, he approaches you, heat pumping through his pale skin, painting his face red.
Closer than ever, he towers over you, making you feel so small. His eyes are narrower, sharp as a blade, cutting through you as he stares down. For a moment, you think heâll knock you to the ground, but you see him shake his head, waves of fury coursing through his frame.
âDo you ever fucking miss me?â He utters with so much venom that he shakes with the bitterness of it.
You wince. Your lips part in horror. You want to say something, but the words have dissolved on your tongue.
He waits for a moment and then cracks a smile that doesnât meet his eyes, running fingers through his strands in a frenzy. âOf course, you donât. Ten days or ten months, why would you care?â He sarcastically rasps. His words reverberate against the walls and slice through you.
Pure rage fuels through your veins, and you edge closer. âWhat is that supposed to mean?â
âI finished up all my training to hurry to you, but I see you holed up in this stinky dorm room playing video gamesââ You choke up.
âDonât show up then!â He shrieks with resolution, eyes widening purposefully. He turns away and kicks at the pile of bottles blocking his path, unleashing his wrath on the inanimate objects. âGet out! Leave me to rot in this stinky dorm!â
The room immediately goes eerily silent.
Except Ni-ki hears the shill thumping of a pulse above his ear, indicating an incoming migraine. His body feels like itâll burst with how tumultuously the anger and frustration bubble inside his blood. He can feel the heat shoot through his arteries and collect at the back of his pupils. Distressed, he shuts his eyes and rubs a hand down his face as the ache begins to pound within his entire head.
And then, the walls mock him, reverberating the words spewed out of his mouth just a second ago. Like someoneâs toppled a bucket of ice over his head, his breath hitches with realisation. He whips around, intending to fall to his knees and kiss your feet for forgiveness.
His jaw tightens.
He meets your absence.
In a fit of rage, he didnât see your face crumble, lips tremble; he didnât hear the sniffle and shuffling as you walked outâ away from him.
He can count the times heâs unleashed his anger upon you on a single hand. Usually, he holds back, knowing that whatever was to come out in a fit of rage was absolute bullshit.
âDonât show up then!â
âGet out! Leave me to rot in this stinky dorm!âÂ
He groans, fisting his hair in disbelief. How dare he use such words towards you? Ni-ki fumes and curses himself. He begins to frantically pace when he stumbles against the empty boxes and cans piling up. Suddenly, he feels the urge to throw himself off the Han River.
Of fucking course, youâre right.
It looks like a bunch of apes ransacked his room, dirt and clothes scattered with food and soft drinks spilt on the grimy floor. This isnât liveable. How did he spend weeks cooped up in this nightmareâ heâll never know.
Ni-ki determinedly leans over and collects the clothing items, hanging his jackets on the rack while folding his shirts and jerseys to keep in a neat pile. He grabs a pack of tissues, dampens them from the bathroom sink and uses it to scrub off the dried juices from the floor.
While gathering the pizza boxes and tissues, he discovers Jakeâs long-lost tie under his bed. He grabs the vacuum cleaner from his storage closet, plugs it in and runs it over the remaining crumbs and dust. The machineâs groaning only further riles up his migraine, pinching the nerves in torment; however, Ni-ki is determined to make this place spotlessâ worthy of your presence.
Two heads poke out from behind the door, lured by the blaring sounds of the machine. Sunooâs eyes widen, and Jakeâs jaw drops at the sight.
âDo you see what I see?â Jake whispers, scared the fantasy would shatter if he spoke any louder, staring in a daze, watching as the younger boy lay on his stomach to push the vacuum under the bed till it scraped the other end.
âNishimura Ri-ki cleaning? I see it,â Sunoo confirms, blinking rapidly.
âHell, this must be the end of the world,â another surprised voice joins the duo, and Jake and Sunoo look up, confused at the third intrusion. Heeseung stands towering behind Sunooâs head, peaking inside with wonder.
Ni-ki simply ignores them, extra concerned with scrubbing the place clean to quickly find his way to you. Gradually, the lair becomes a civilised room with breathable air. Ni-ki lights up your favourite vanilla-scented candles and inhales deeply, observing the expanse.
Primarily, his room was pretty sleek with a tenebrous elegancy, grey curtains, light-toned carpet and a chic black couch custom-made from Japan, all chosen to his liking. The side table carries some figurines and a pile of his favourite manga collections. In the second drawer, he likes to store hair ties, skincare products, and plushies so he can convince you to have a sleepover every time you visit. Even his wardrobe lingers with your presence. Once, when Ni-ki caught Jake wearing a hoodie that still smelled of you, he pounced on him and ripped it off the petrified Australian. From then on, Ni-ki forbade any member from touching his things. For extra precaution, he still separated specific items you liked, sparing a section to all his hoodies you wore.
Ni-ki runs a hand over his messy hair, patting down his pants and hoodie for any dust before heading out of his room.
The hallway is now perturbingly empty, and the adjacent doors to his room are shut. Ni-ki hastens inside Sunooâs room, usually finding you seated and binging shows. Instead, he discovers Sunoo on his PC, watching some romantic anime. He dashes off and checks Jake and Heeseungâs room, but youâre nowhere to be found.
A surge of panic courses through him, thinking youâve really left. He hastens down the hallway, stopping to check the guest bathroom (also empty) and dashing down the stairs.
As he hurries down the last step, his frantic gaze roams the expanse before pausing at the open kitchen. He freezes, his foot hanging over the previous step. His heart swells with relief.
Thank fuck, youâre exactly where you belongâright before his eyes.
With denim sleeves rolled up and hair clipped in a messy bun, youâre immersed in stirring the pot, looking absolutely ethereal in your element. Ni-kiâs breath stutters as he admires you in your own little world.
When you stepped into a kitchen, no amount of distractions could shift your focus. It was one of the things he loved about you: putting a little of your heart into everything you do. But it was also something he disliked about you. If everything in the world takes a little of your heart, whatâs left for him?
He gulps down the burning sensation, reminding himself of his earlier stupidity. He kicked you out of his room.
God, he wants to smack himself so badly.
Carefully, Ni-ki takes calculated steps towards the kitchen. And like he predicts, you donât notice, too consumed by whatever was in the pan. He sneaks up from behind and stands beside you, purposefully brushing his shoulder with yours to make you wary of his presence.
You freeze and spare him a glance. And then he notices the immediate grimace and frown weighing down your beautiful face. His heart drops further into his stomach as you look away, attending to your recipe.
He nibbles on his lower lip. He suddenly feels nervous. His palms itch, and his chest tightens with discomfort. His gaze lingers on your face, yearning for your attention. He internally begs for you to speakâ shoutâ maybe even curse him out. You donât do any such thing.
Instead, you wash the rice and toss some diced green vegetables in the pan with chicken bits, stir-frying it together. He leans forward, sniffing the steaming chicken, gulping down the tightness in his throat.
He finds his voice. âTeriyaki stir fryâ for me?â He tries to sound optimistic, but his voice is weak with tension. His pretence is crystal clear.
Silence. Pin drop- deafening silence. Itâs supposed to be good for his migraine, but your silence just makes the throbbing sensation concentrate even more, so much so that he feels a gruesome pain stir up in his neck.
His frustration mounts as he sees you turn away to wash the dirty dishes in the sink.
The silence begins to kill him. Agitated, he grabs at your shoulders, whirling you in his arms. You gasp as your palms flatten against his chest to steady yourself.
You glance up with wide eyes, and his gaze immediately softens. âSay something,â he urges, browns of his eyes drained with yearning.
His touch on your arms sends pleasurable ripples down your body, but you donât make it known. Instead, you offer him a cold, obstinate expression, your mouth sealed shut in stubborn rage.
He feels pathetic as you look at him with steely eyes before pushing away and returning to wash the dishes. His gaze narrows in frustration. His fists tighten as a horrifying thought plagues his mind: the thought that youâll give him the silent treatment till his last day in Korea, and he has to fly out before he gets to fix this.
Just the thought of leaving you makes him lose it.
Distressed, he bites his lip and fists his hair.
Think. Think. Think.
He spots the searing chicken, and suddenly, everything plays out before him. He envisions you coming to him with the food. Youâll have to talk to him when you give him his lunch.
He restrains a smile and waits for you to get done, arms folded over his chest as he leans against the kitchen counter, watching you intently.
Soon, you return to the stove and empty the pan on a clean plate. You scoop the rice from the cooker and serve it with sophisticated chef-like precision. You have a knack for presenting any dishâeven something as simple as instant ramenâas if it belongs in a Michelin-star restaurant.
His mouth waters as he stares at the heat simmer. He can already taste the juices in his mouth. And then he patiently waits.
Your gaze roams the living room as you hold up the tray. His bashful smile widens as you approach him.
And then both his smile and heart drop when you walk past him towards the hallwayâ in the complete opposite fucking direction to his room. His jaw tightens as he rushes behind like a lost puppy, his confusion mounting as he sees you approach another roomâJungwonâs room.
The door is answered immediately as if he had been awaiting your arrival.
Jungwonâs smile widens, shaking the bangs out of his sight, his dimple peaking out charmingly. âI told you this wasnât necessary, Y/N,â he chimes, but he stares at the scrumptious platter, licking his lips in excitement.
As you walked out of Ni-kiâs dorm, wiping tears from your eyes, you bumped heads with Jungwon, who instantly noticed how upset you appeared. He knew you were the most in your element whenever you cooked, so he brought up how badly he craved your stir fry. And that was all it took for you to work your magic.
God, Ni-ki was so lucky.
If Jungwon had a girlfriend as caring and talented in the kitchen, heâd probably lose his mind and devour everything you cooked like a ravenous beast.
âYou said you were hungry, so I thought Iâd cook you your favourite.â You give him an adorable smile, handing him the warm tray.
âThank you, our lovely master chef!â Jungwon compliments, and you giggle softly at the nickname.
The sound makes Ni-ki sick. Your breathtaking smile directed towards someone who isnât him makes him nauseous. The plate carrying flavours you created for someone else to devour makes him burn with resentment. The food that took so much effort to make intended for another member and not your fucking boyfriend makes Ni-ki violent. Heâs never hated the sight of your food before today.
As you walk away, ignoring his presence, he hears a dull ringing in his ear. The bubbling frustration and anger have started to take a toll on his body.
It was questionable how ten hours of practice, sleepless nights and continuous shows didnât make him this ill. But you have the power to bring him to his knees.
Jungwon notices Ni-ki standing motionless by the wall and meets his eyes with confusion.
Worst fucking mistake ever.
Predatory eyes, murderousâpoisoning black holes stare him down. It doesnât help that Ni-kiâs taller, and Jungwon shrinks, his mouth drying up in voiceless horror. Ni-ki steps forward, and Jungwon gulps, suddenly forgetting that heâs older.
Ni-ki grabs the chicken and stuffs it in his mouth. The threatening glare is enough for Jungwon to shut his mouth before Ni-ki marches away.
When Jungwon recovers, he notices only bits of capsicum and onion with plain rice remain.
Fucking Nishimura Ri-ki downed all the steaming chicken in one bite.
Jungwon withholds a groan and slams his door shut.
Meanwhile, youâre back in the living room, answering a phone call from a friend, fretting over the recent assignment. While youâre explaining it to her, you notice a towering presence behind you, his familiar cologne invading your senses even before you can turn to inspect the intrusion.
You ignore his presence, clarifying the assignmentâs nuances. You assume heâll tire out and leave to his roomâ the one he kicked you out ofâ eventually, but your breath gets caught in your throat when he grabs your wrist, jerking you close.
Your words morph into a screech of horror as Ni-ki effortlessly hoists you up on his shoulder. Youâre upside down, screaming and throwing a tantrum as the phone escapes your grasp, a shrill scream of defiance leaving your mouth. You try kicking him, but he takes determined steps towards the hallway.
In a frantic haze, you catch sight of Sunoo and Jake standing in their doorway, peering to inspect the commotion. You scream for help, and for a second, you think Sunooâs about to jump in to save your ass, but as if heâs seen a ghostâ he freezes in his tracks. His fearful gaze lingers on Ni-ki, and he edges back inside, offering you nothing but an empathetic smile.
You want to curse the cowards out, but by the time you find your voice, youâre already inside Ni-kiâs room, and heâs locked the door shut. He takes you to his bed, then gently sits you on the bedding.
With your blood boiling, you canât even meet his eyes. You attempt to reach the door, but he clenches your wrist and pulls you back. Consumed by violent rage, you punch his chest.
He takes itâwithout even a change to his breathing and remains blocking your path like a wall.
One. Two.
Three. Four.
By the fifth one, your fist hurts. You look up in distress.
Finally. He breathes.
You finally spare him a glance.
He feels the burden on his chest lighten, his tense frame easing as you finally spare him your complete attentionâ unfavourable attention but better than feeling like the discrete air that passes by.
âGive me any bruise you want, curse me outâ I beg you, just donât do this to me,â heâs stuttering, his voice low and brittle as he tries to suppress his fears.
Whenever Ni-ki sulks, his small eyes go round, and his lips pucker unintentionally. You almost falter at the sight, but his earlier words itch your insides, and you rip your wrist from his grasp in resentment.
âI would rather be anywhere else than in your fucking room.â He winces at the cruel tone, his eyes flashing with hurt as you attempt to walk off. Panic-stricken, he pushes down on your shoulders until youâre dropping onto the sheets.
Immediately, he drops to his knees and grabs your hand, pressing his lips to the back in soft kisses.
âIâm so sorry, baby,â he whispers, and you feel his lips quiver against your skin. He trails kisses around until heâs peppering them in your palms.
âIâm a fucking moronâ Iâm sorry,â he chokes up and presses his entire face inside the warmth of your hands. You feel dampness.
Your heart throbs in torment.
âThis is your room before itâs mine,â he mumbles and kisses your palms repeatedly. âYou were just being your caring selfâhelping me get my shit together. Iâ I missed you so badly this month. I havenât stopped thinking of you since the day I left,â his voice cracks.
Unknowingly, youâre also crying. You realise when wetness trails down your cheeks, and you tremble as emotions overwhelm you.
You lean down and caress his hair. âI missed you too, Riki.â
He feels a tug in his heart when you call him his real name, his chest suddenly tightening as he recalls just how terribly he missed you. And then how awfully he treated you.
He looks up with watery eyes, hair falling against his vision, and his insides shrivel in defeat. He hates your tears. Realising heâs made you cry over his stupidity, he wants to throw himself off the roof. A burning ache pools within his chest.
He releases a groan, wiping at your tears persistently.
âIâm sorry too,â you cry, and he wishes he could really burn himself alive.
âWhy the fuck are you apologising?â His eyes burn with restrained anger.
He wishes youâd scold him and call it a day like any normal fucking girlfriend. But youâre his girl, insanely warm and disgustingly understandingâto him, always.
âI know I shouldâve wrapped you in my arms before lashing out about how dirty the room is,â you admit, your lips pressing together with guilt. Heâs watching you with confused anger as if he wants to refuse everything that escapes your mouth, but you eagerly complete your words.
âI just hate how badly overworked you are. I hate not seeing you for months. And I hate how you canât be a normal nineteen-year-old like me. I know you arenât some careless guy throwing a tantrum. Youâre struggling to breathe in this rigorous world of stardom where one slip-up means the end of your career, where you cannot be anything less than perfect.â
As you talk about his struggles, he feels a tighter knot begin to clog his throat. Discomfort ceases his chest, and his eyes burn. His chest heaves with unspent tension.
You sniff and wipe at your cheeks. âAnd I guess walking into this room reminded me of your struggles. And then, I noticed how thin youâve becomeâ and wanted to cook you someââ
He gets off his knees, pouncing on top of you, his mouth clashing against yours in a passionate kiss. You tumble back with his body pressing down in desperate urgency.
Your breath is caught in your throat, lips frantically trying to match his intensity. His kiss dries your mouth; itâs so demanding and urgent like heâs getting to breathe air after ages. His tongue invades and intertwines with yours, sucking vehemently on your tongue for your taste. Youâre a moaning, panting mess as his hands hold down your waist. He squeezes you in his hold, pushing his tongue deeper into your mouth like a depraved man.
You push at his neck defeatedly once you feel oxygen run out. He groans into your mouth, indicating his displeasure, but relents when your nails dig into his neck, forming painful crescents.
His face hovers over yours, heavy breath lingering against your gasping mouth. Impatiently, he stares into your eyes like he wants to transfer some of his energy and resilience to your body so you can let him kiss you however badly he wants. Magically, even his migraine has started to dispelâ and his chest feels lighter. He also wants to smile and laugh like a lunatic and kiss you till your mouth bleeds.
The tension in your frame thickens as he rubs his nose against yours, still eyeing your heaving, flushed frame in yearning.
Warmth colours your cheeks, dried tears blinking along your lashes. âI donât know what I did to deserve you.â He drags his nose against your cheek and drops a noisy kiss on the corner of your mouth.
âBut whatever it is, it doesnât excuse feeding hyung before me.â
Youâre confused and ready to argue, but heâs already latched his mouth onto yours, attempting to make up for all the past time. After all, he still needs to put his hands everywhere and remind you of his touch, sulk because you cooked for Jungwon, plead for ramen with tofu to stuff himself full, convince you to sleep over and feed him all night.

Synopsis: relentless schedule and physical distance from his girlfriend has already strained his nerves.
