" Any further and you'll fall with nothing to catch you." this was the second time this man has paused on the trek to the top, staring at the scenery beyond with an expression she can't quite decipher. normally, Morgan would hardly pat it any attention and just continue on her way but the Alraune was adamant that nobody gets left behind so the berserker decided to speak up.
" Wait until the top to stare in awe. Others are waiting their turn below."
HOW COULD HE HELP HIMSELF WITH EVERY STOP? climbing trees was a hobby of his, something he did on the occasion despite his apparent noble background, though he had never quite traveled up a tree this big. perhaps that was why he would stop and stare in awe at how beautiful it all was, a world brimming with so much light and, even more, the golden shine that the sun gleams upon it at certain angles.
really, when she addresses him, he can only let out an embarrassed laugh to show he hadn't meant to hinder anyone.
❝ Ahaha. My apologies, Miss. It's just... I've never gotten to experience sights like this before! I couldn't help but pause to take in all the splendor. ❞ he catches his footing just in case, soon jogging closer to her, pausing to walk alongside shortly after. ❝ I suppose you're used to sights as these? In comparison, you're fairly composed. ❞
TO THINK THERE WAS SOMETHING SO LOVELY HERE, nestled away within the dreary forest of the mistwoods. flames flicker to illuminate the darkness, food to offer and drinks to spare for all those whom thirst and hunger. in some ways, it was certainly charming, something newfound to find in this strange new world. so many were in merriment that, truthfully, the man who stands before the bonfires stands out 一 not even due to his appearance, but how he seems to stare at them.
it only serves to draw jack's attention toward him, walking over with a friendly smile. ❝ Eh? Are you thinking of jumping over the fires? ❞ he offers a small chuckle, uncertain if he'd presumed wrong.
❝ They say if you jump over one of the fires, you will remain in good health for the rest of the year... ❞ it was a true fact, something jack need not lie about, as the smile on his lips spread. ❝ You see, I was determined to try it for myself! Only I thought about my braid catching fire. Ah, do you think they would allow me to tie it around me first? ❞
WHEN HE THINKS OF THE COLOR RED, it's like a sunset blossoms before him.
roses that bloom amidst a sea of flowers, the wind itself swaying them in its gentle embrace, a single petal being blown into the distance as it fades from sight. like a drop of blood down a spindle of wool, a hand tenderly reaching out to take hold of it and press it against the cloth of a dress to stem the flow. as if there were flickering flames, licking at the foundation of a beautiful manor, ready to bring it down into naught into a memory one can only see in their dreams. maybe in that firelit glow...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀he could see those eyes staring back at him yet again一
❝ Mm... red? I can't quite put my finger on it, honestly. It's just a lovely color this world is lucky to have. ❞
❝ i know we don't know each other that well but if you wanna talk about it... ❞
´GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER || ACCEPTING. ✰ )
IF HE WISHED TO SPEAK ON IT... such nostalgic words, ones that creep into his head, sinking down through his spine like vines and growing upon the cage of his ribs to reach for his still beating heart. such nostalgic words, as if it were just a simple cry from yesterday where he spoke of lacie's wish 一 that, perhaps, they may be able to bring her back from the depths of the hell she was condemned to merely for existing.
if he spoke to this person of such desires... would he shun him, too, like that b̴e̴s̵t̴ ̶f̵r̷i̶e̶n̸d̶ who he once believed would walk by his side? ah... the clouds cast a shadow over his frame, though the smile upon his face is as brilliant as the sun itself when he speaks.
❝ Haha! How is that saying again? Ah! "The sun will shine again!" So there's no need to dwell on anything. Promise! ❞
uhhh cheesed to meet you? anyway hello it's been six years since i've written this problematic man so please bear with me while i try to get back into the muse mindset. but if you'd like to interact with him and do spiralefes stuff, give a like! no cap!
“Like a stretch of water so silent and still, even fish avoid it. When you look into it, the only thing you see is your own reflection. You can’t see his true nature. Even though he’s right in front of me… I can’t shake the uncomfortable feeling that no one’s actually there…”
gently covers my face. thank you anon, this really means a lot to know i’m on the right track with him in some way! i’ll continue to do my best to meet your expectations!
“A nickname? I’ve not had one in my entire life, not even as a child.” They weren’t seen as something necessary growing up, especially in her upbringing. Though now she can’t help but think that it’d be nice, no matter if the notion seems childish for someone her age. “Perhaps if you think of something suitable then I’ll put it to use, hm?” then there’s a laugh of her own, quiet.
“Jack Vessalius, a name I won’t be forgetting.” It’s a nice name, simple and easy to remember and it leaves somewhat of an impression upon her. “I hope that you will not be too taken aback at a library’s splendor then. Assuming you have no prior engagements, I will wait for you in sector five’s library three days from now. Should you find yourself lost, most citizens will show you the way with great pleasure. All you will need to do is give my name to the people working there and there should be no problem henceforth. Is that suitable?”
KINDNESS WAS PECULIAR, AN ANOMALY for the young man who listens to her speak. yet even her laughter carries the sentiments of it all when allowing him to use a suiting nickname. ❝ Perfect! Then I’ll have to do my best to think of something suiting to both you and it well, ❞ his voice energetic at the small outburst of delight to being allowed such a privilege.
❝ Perish the thought. After all, I have a wonderful teacher to guide me through the splendors of libraries and flowers, do I not? ❞ another amicable smile offered her way, giving a small nod at the time she notes. ❝ Sector Five’s library? I will be sure to remember that. To find someone who put up with my antics earlier and still extend a helping hand... it must really be my lucky day. You can count on me to arrive accordingly. Ah, I won’t keep you from your day any longer, Miss Camilla. Until then. ❞
welcome back, anon! actually, i don’t have any ships in regards to jack in that sense. personally i can’t seem to really see him in that sort of way unless it was solely manipulative/feigning to achieve something or string them along to use them. especially with how obsessive he is with lacie, that would generally negate anything. the most i would be able to say is if it was a situation where he saw a lot of lacie in the person and focused on them as a makeshift of her until he finally achieved his goals for the real deal, though that comes off as a much more twisted and dark ship whoops. that, or if the person unrequitedly cared for him in that manner without really noting who he truly is and he used that point to use in his favour.
This is a perfectly acceptable hour to be sitting playing shamisen in the street, so naturally that is what he’s doing. Sunglasses on despite the dark of night, humming nonexistent lyrics to a rather fast-paced song.
He doesn’t even seem to be asking for money.
LIKE STRINGS, GUIDING HIM TO the very place where the other sits amidst the darkness. steps halt at the swift paced song itself being played, the instrument unknown to the man himself despite his own dabbling within the arts of music. eyes close, indulging in the way the strings sound, before smiling softly at how they resonate. hopefully they other did not mind a brief interruption.
❝ That’s quite the lovely tune. It reminds me of something... but at the same time, it isn’t anything like I have heard before. Does it have a name? ❞
Do you really think that friendship between Os and Jack was false? Just wondering.
personally? a bit of yes and no. saying there was nothing between them would be a lie, however it wasn’t all genuine, either. for me, jack’s view on friendship is very… askew compared to the definition we see it as. just as everything from his mindset with how he has changed throughout the years from someone who literally had no will to live to someone willing and capable of using those around him at his whims to achieve what he wants. oswald, no matter how anyone looks at it, likely was the closest thing to jack having an actual friend out of just him and not his status or to be used. levi does not count entirely despite him being the one to allow jack to come back and forth. even though he did this, you can easily tell his intentions were not as amicable on the fact rather than more so amusement of having jack around. miranda is by far nothing close as it was clear they were both solely using each other.
throughout the years jack wore those masks so often he really did lose who he was unless he was around lacie. not out of love or even what he might believe could be love due to his experiences, but out of an obsessive hatred for what he felt she had made him become just to see her again which he knew was actually genuine. oswald, though, had a keen sense of seeing just who jack was as well, as seen when he pinpointed his personality before he threw water at his face impulsively due to that click of it. lacie was the person who allowed him to feel alive when around her while, in contrast, oswald was the one who was on a more spiritual level of reminding him of things he did not want to recall with how observant he is. however, i feel the moment that oswald told jack to cut it out about saving lacie was the moment that anything genuine that could have been was destroyed with how quickly he disassociated him as oswald, lacie’s big brother into glen, the master of the baskervilles with how he never directly calls him oswald afterward.
from his reactions alone, especially when oswald officially passed away, you can tell there was indeed something there to incite that reaction in the moment and not just some act to show since nobody else could see him cry, only oz in that moment. only jack is no longer sure of who he is, so he, personally, cannot identify if what he felt was true or if it was just one of his many masks kicking in. so while he used oswald to gain more information over time and stay close to achieve what he felt was lacie’s wish, there was also that essence of the past involving him which clung to him; it was familiar, like the times with lacie, something he could focus on, etc. however, it all hinges on jack’s view on friendship to begin with as well in contrast to oswald’s view of friendship in turn.
I cant finde your rules page. Is it because Im on mobile?
hello, anon! actually, i don’t currently have a rules page at all set up (much like many of my other pages orz). i haven’t sat down long enough to get around to tending to my navigation page other than the necessities for the group, such as the application itself. i apologize for any inconvenience for that and i will do my best to get any basic guidelines up for that in both a pop up page for it as well as a normal page for those who are on mobile and the like!
“A joker is a little fool who is different from everyone else. He’s not a club, diamond, heart, or spade. He’s not an eight or a nine, a king or a jack. He is an outsider. He is placed in the same pack as the other cards, but he doesn’t belong there. Therefore, he can be removed without anybody missing him.”
“I’ve never been the type of woman to go along with the flow of things, you lose your sense of self very easily that way–but that is a very long winded topic I’d rather not get into, so perhaps another time.” It’s best not to delve too deep with a stranger, no matter how nice they may seem. “Foreign, yes. But they were my favorite flower in my home country and I’ve taken to keeping a vase full of a flower in my home here. I suppose I’m rather fond of them as well for how close to my name the spelling happens to be.” She smiles after having said so. “Which is Camilla, by the way.”
“And I’d be happy to teach you. My days have been boring as of late, but this should be interesting. So long as you can stand to be in a library for an hour or two then this arrangement should do fine. I intend to teach you all that I know on the subject, after all. What do you say? Is that acceptable?”
SOMETHING TICKS, LIKE AN INTERNAL clock burrowed deep down which restarts at the prospect of losing one’s self amidst the flow. yet his smile remains without falter, uncertain if he should be grateful for her desire to leave the subject far behind them. for now, he would let it be all the same. ❝ Your name suits you. I hardly know about the flowers you speak of, yet it’s the same name as a novel I read once before. I would ask if I could shorten it, but I couldn’t possibly think anything would sound as pleasing, ❞ he manages a chuckle at the thought, recalling his penchant for conjuring nicknames. though, despite it all, something tells him simply calling her milla wouldn’t suit someone as her.
❝ My name is Jack Vessalius. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’ve been in several studies before, but nothing as grand as a library. It shouldn’t pose any issue, though, if that was the matter. Please teach me well, Miss Camilla. I will do my best as a proper student to remember your lessons. ❞
“It was.” Several more raise their heads from where they were resting on the ground or tucked inside her skirts. There looks to be a half dozen of them, large snakes with black eyes and pearly white scales. One of them, the one who had taken the rose, has a reflective yellow strap around its neck, with the words DO NOT TOUCH printed on it. “They’re part of my body,” Gwyndolin says.
❝ Ah... ❞ the wistful comment passing his lips as he lets the information sink in briefly. no efforts are made to touch them, however, having taken note of the sign easily enough. ❝ Part of your body? I’ve never heard of a condition like that before. I would have never guessed it was something in reality until I saw it with my own two eyes. ❞
