Let the games begin…

Before Foxface was even of age to be put in to the games her fate was chosen for her. Foxface’s mother was only 16 when she gave birth to her and although her mother was very sick afterwards, that did not exclude her from the games. Her mother was reaped only a year after Foxface was born and once Foxface’s father found out, he was torn. People said they were naive for having a child so young, but their love was something people couldn’t doubt or ignore. Foxface’s father handed her over to her grandmother while he went to the capitol to try and help her mother escape from the bloodbath she would soon face. The only fault in his plan was that he was a fool and the president was not. When Snow caught Foxface’s father and realized his plans, he executed him and Foxface’s mother was still put into the arena. Foxface didn’t watch much of the games because her grandmother wouldn’t allow it, but the last time she did was when her mother died. She pressed her tiny fingers against the television screen and watched as her mother slowly faded into what she thought was a deep sleep. But as Foxface grew older, she understood that both her mother and father were never coming home. When Foxface was reaped, she was only 16 and when she entered the arena she had finally realized what she was up against. This was Snow’s plan all along to have Foxface reaped at the same age as her mother and to put her in the same arena her mother died in. Snow wanted everyone to know that you can’t escape from these games and if you try, an ugly fate will be placed upon the people you love. Foxface went to the place where her mother died, she practically memorized the greenery after replaying her mothers death millions of times on her grandmothers television. It was believed that Foxface ate the nightlock by accident when in fact those were the same berries her mother ate. Foxface knew that they were poisonous, but she knew that even if she won the games she would still be on Snow’s death list. So she followed in her mothers footsteps and died in the same meadow her mother died in, peacefully.

Peeta’s epilogue.

There are things we can never be free of; scars that are burnt onto us too deeply to fade away with time. There’s those nights in the Games, the creeping approach of the unknown, and that terrible fear that the Capitol drugged me with. I can never really be fixed, or truly free, because a pawn taken off the chess board is still a pawn, and we’ll be their broken playthings forever. But our children are beautiful, so beautiful, like Katniss. And they bring a warm hope to my heart, like the smile she gives me in the mornings, and the last kiss before bedtime. It will be good again.
