"I get not wanting to bring your job into the bedroom. It's like asking a nurse to take off their scrubs and put on the sexy Halloween costume of a nurse to satisfy their fantasy." Penny replied before shrugging. "Can't say I ever had someone ask me to be a sexy journalist in bed, but if they did ask me, I'd probably get pissed off." She added. "Though... it does beg the question. What is something that's a little more fresh for you? What, you want them to ask you to put on your full gear? Because I don't think you can fuck anyone wearing all of that."

"Yeah, it just seems a little lazy on the creativity. But perhaps I'm biased. Or any of us should be, should we fall into the category of careers that usually get tied into those sorts of things." Keegan mused. It all seemed monotonous after awhile. "Surprised you haven't. You know, the whole wearing glasses thing - makes people hot and bothered too." Or so he assumed anyways. "Kind of like a teacher fantasy." The man shrugged. "Full gear?" Keegan asked as he laughed softly. "Definitely not and I would be too fearful to try. You would be surprised at how much weight we carry with all of our gear. But I don't know, I just don't think someone should start a conversation with that."

"No— but who would know this was going on in advance?" A lot of people, he figured. They'd invited people and howled from the rooftops that one of their own was coming out and they would make the celebrations big. "Who has more to gain to have this happen? Who's been trying to take us down the most." He could name more than a few but he needed to bounce his thoughts off of someone else. He scrubbed at his face when Shiloh confirmed he also knew little about the croweater. Now that he was thinking about it, Jack didn't know much about any of them. At least not about their lives outside of the club and where they came from or the people they'd grown up with. "I never asked. I just took them to bed, so I'm probably worse than you are. Can you ask around and see if maybe the other girls knew anything about her?"

"I think everyone knew that a party was happening. The whole block was invited." Shiloh though bowed his head as soon as the words left his mouth. More guilt plagued him. Poisoning his mind about thinking about the what ifs. Like what if they never threw a party for Money- could have that prevented Arabella's death? That would continue to weigh on him heavily. "Two groups ring a bell." He wasn't sure who was more suspicious. The greedy and the power-hungry will always look for ways to break the rules, or twist them to their advantage. "My guess, it would be ... " Shiloh started and looked around to make sure nobody was in ear shot. "The Cartel." He advised. "Maybe they want to be on their own, cut us out in our dynamic with them. Maybe that was a deliberate sign that they have ended the relationship." Shiloh wasn't sure if that was the real reason or if they were the truth culprits but if push came to shove, he would be pointing the fingers at that group. "So, no pillow talk?" He mused slightly joking and then coughed to himself to shake how awkward that joke sounded like. "But yeah I can do that."

there  was  no  real  bite  to  her  teasing  .  her  voice  was  light  ,  amused  ,  as  she  turned  her  head  to  glance  at  the  man  sketching  out  her  latest  tattoo  —  a  fragmented  heart  ,  its  broken  pieces  intertwined  with  lines  of  bode  and  bits  of  circuitry  .

His wrist continued to move, drawing up the design on a sheet of stencil paper. He could have designed it digitally, but what was the fun in that? Hues briefly looked up and cocked a brow. "I have not been living under a rock. But if you expect to pay me in that kind of currency, you might be living in a dream world." The man remarked as he let out what sounded like a grunt, one that was judging. "You can geek out about that somewhere else. Cash or card here, you should know that."

her laugh came quiet and low, like smoke curling through the air — not mocking, but threaded with something that hummed between amusement and recognition. “you talk like a man who’s been burned before,” she said, voice steady, almost gentle, though her eyes held none of the softness her tone implied. “maybe that’s why you preach control. you know what happens when it slips.” she moved again, slow, deliberate — not circling now, but pacing, letting the echo of her heels cut through the thud of distant music and the faint clatter of weights. “anger doesn’t demand action, no,” she agreed, glancing back over her shoulder at him. “but it does demand honesty. most people fear that part more than the rage itself. it’s easier to call it discipline, or routine, or therapy, than admit it’s the only time they feel alive.” when she turned fully to face him again, the edge of a smile ghosted across her lips — thin, sharp, knowing. “you’re right, though. women wear it different. we learn early to turn the fire inward, polish it until it glows instead of burns. control isn’t our weakness; it’s our armor.” she stepped in close again, the air between them taut but calm, her gaze locking on his like a challenge wrapped in silk. “me?” she echoed, the word drawn out, savoring its weight. “i don’t cage it. i train it. feed it, even. because i’ve seen what happens when you starve something powerful — it doesn’t die, it waits.” her chin tilted slightly, dark amusement flickering behind her expression. “so i give mine a reason to stay loyal.” a pause — then, quieter, almost like a secret meant for him alone — “the difference between a beast and a weapon is who’s holding the leash.”

Lane felt like she was analyzing him by the second and he wasn't too sure he liked that kind of attention. Perhaps that was why he was giving brief answers to her observations. "There would be fewer less burned if we are talking numbers." Everybody had something that happened that pained them, whether that was betrayal or something similar. "Like you said, routine keeps men civilized." It was a partial truth. We are what we repeatedly do. Anger to Lane was like a fire that always burned within him but he knew there were tactics, patterns which he could follow that extinguish it for a bit. She may have been watching him, but he was too. Watching as she paced now. "You speak about control, but you're almost circling me. I'm not sure if you are doing such because you're a predator circling a prey or to get a hold of your own control." He quipped back for the first time during their conversation. There was no malice or hardness in the words. Just merely spoken to let her know he wasn't completely oblivious. Putting the attention on her for a brief moment. It seemed only right. But her next words held an accuracy that he wasn't going to elaborate on. Only time they feel alive. That resonated with him a little too well. "Still control is a tricky thing. It's not always black and white. Never said it was a weakness by the way. Those kind of instincts provide strength, there's power in that." Control as a woman's armor as she so put it through the description. There it was again, almost dare-like as she move closer. It was like he was in a cage and she was looking in. He rose a brow at her latter remark. "That certainly sounds like a sale's pitch." Lane mused and he stepped forward for the first time. Not that this was some sort of competition. He didn't have to prove anything. But if she could, so could he with his subtle movements. "I am going to assume you're usually the one holding the leash. Am I correct?"

"when  women  reach  a  certain  age  they're  pretty  burnt  out  at  all  the  shit  they've  had  to  deal  with  from  men  over  the  years."  halle  pressed  her  straw  to  her  lips  and  sipped  on  her  cocktail,  something  light  after  a  heavy  day.  "plus  ...  younger  men  are  more  eager  to  please,  have  more  stamina,  and  like  to  be  taught."

as  he  spoke  her  lips  twisted  at  discovering  what  the  issue  might  be,  and  she  almost  had  to  laugh  at  how  easily  men  just  laid  it  out  there  like  that.  "so  you  can't  indulge  in  her  fantasy,  it's  not  good  enough  for  you,  and  you  want  her  to  come  up  with  something  better?"

"Is that what it is then?" He questioned but Keegan would take a note of it. Remembering that kind of reasoning for the future. Though at the other's accusation he lifted in his hands in a mock surrender. Not exactly liking the quip so he felt the need to clarify. "That wasn't me wanting her to try harder. But it's like if I were to speak so candidly to somebody in an effort to try to get them in my bed. I don't know about you but I kind of like a little mystery." Keegan shrugged. There was something as coming on too strong. Or at least in his mind anyways.

“Maybe after dinner—” or before, she wasn’t picky— “you can find out.” 

Zeynep knew this was probably a situation better left alone. Really, she did. But she was bored, Dante was busy, and the woman in front of her—To call her stunning would’ve been an understatement. Borderline offensive. 

Then there was the simple fact that the more she knew she shouldn’t do something, the more tempting it became. 

She didn’t think it through beyond that. Beyond the fact that she’s stopped into Angel’s for a drink and found something far more appealing. "Home-cooked sounds perfect.” Emphasis on the part that meant taking things home. Without breaking eye contact she swallowed down the last of her drink. “Do you live nearby?”

Maybe. That word lingered in the corners of Carmen's mind. Everything was dependent on the situation but she would hold on to that wonder. It intrigued her. After all spontaneity is the best kind of adventure. Carmen's night started with some idiot feeding her a cheesy pick up line, so the other woman's presence was much more preferred. And she was way easier on the eyes along with the confidence that she radiated. Silent and not flashy. The best kind. "I hope to." Instead just offering that anticipation. "Then it's settled." Carmen beamed. She finished off the rest of her drink and laid down what she owed along with the tip for the bartender. "A few blocks away." Not far at all. She then stood up but yet waiting for the other to join her, taking a few steps to signal the lead. "So, anything I should know about your preferences? I usually can tell a lot about someone depending on their food choices." Food was the focal point but however there was room for interpretation, Carmen's words were steady with teasing.

Absently, eyes still fixed on the dispute ahead, Ivy plucked a pack of cigarettes out of her purse and tapped one free. Her nod that came next served as agreement, and then—“If they didn’t want an audience they probably shouldn’t have picked a parking lot for their battleground.”

It was probably safe to ease around the pair and head for her car… but what was the point? To head home to an empty house? No doubt Javi wasn’t there waiting to greet her. Better to stay if for no other reason than the entertainment of it all. 

“Twenty bucks says he cheated.” They always did. Still, putting her own experiences aside, she turned a crooked grin his way. “But because this seems more, I’m going to guess either her sister, or her best friend.” Ivy paused, just long enough to inhale. In a plume of smoke she posed, “What do you think?”

"Some people's lack of self awareness really is pitiful." Personal matters shouldn't be so advertised like it was an open and free show for anyone around. "I suppose they made it out of the bar. At least there's no glass or anything else that could be weaponized that could catch us in the crossfire." Peace would be a priority. Surely most have enough on their plates to deal with bullshit that didn't involve them. "I am a betting man but he most definitely did. A kick as personal as that, she was hitting him where it hurts. And he probably stuck it somewhere that wasn't her." The words indicating that he agreed. That the man in question definitely cheated. "If it was someone like that close to her, they both deserve to be in misery. I won't count it out."

"You know, I thought guys were the ones who were supposed to be the more provocative ones. But there's something about older women who really have no filter." He wasn't sure he was speaking to anyone in specific that scattered around the bar, just acknowledging what had transpired. Though, not surprised as he heard every innuendo or fantasy about his profession. "I just wish they would come up with something a little more fresh and not something as stale as they wish I would keep my firefighter helmet on during the act." Like if he agreed of course to joining them in bed.

"i  think  that  might  be  the  closest  thing  to  possible  truth  i've  heard  when  it  came  to  how  this  hell  hole  got  it's  name."  the  brunette  shrugged  a  shoulder,  coffee  mug  in  the  other  hand  and  held  suspended  in  the  air  as  she  added,  "only  problem  is  most  tourists  and  travelers  want  to  visit  a  quaint  small  town  named  charming."

the  hate  for  this  place  was  a  new  feeling,  and  maybe  that  was  something  confused  and  fueled  by  the  pain  that  still  seared  in  her  shoulder.

"you  don't  think  sometimes  we  put  too  much  pressure  on  these?"  nicola  lifted  her  mug  again  before  finally  bringing  it  to  her  lips  for  a  sip.

"Seems like everything is a part of false advertising. You kind of just roll with the punches." A name like Charming was pleasing in nature. Something to entice outsiders. To feel like one would be welcomed. "Well, I am not going to tell them. But hey I won't judge if you want to be the barer of bad news. Most don't stay too long to know this town's secrets." Most were deceiving and violent from what happened around these parts. Atlas was not oblivious to the crime that was lurking around every corner. One could only adjust to it. "Oh, absolutely. But it's consistent enough to do it's job. Well, unless you're more into those energy drinks. Afraid I stay clear from those things. Even just looking at one raises my heart rate."

''Took you long enough,'' Elijah sighed, wasting no time as he rid himself of his shirt, fingers toying with his belt buckle when he looked up to notice them hovering in the doorway. He'd had very little work in his time in Charming so far, primarily out of paresse, though he'd missed getting back into the groove of his craft. ''What, no phones?'' A smirk tugged at his lips, hand shooting out to grab the phone he'd placed on a tripod, shutting down the camera and advancing on the new arrival. ''That's fine, I can work with a practice run.''

"You know, I imagine if you wanted to make more money you could ask if is there is a guest spot to be a dancer." Malik quipped raising a brow at the other. Though he wasn't the guest that he seemed to be waiting on. Only walking through the club and having his attention being pulled to one of the private rooms. "I don't even want to know who you're waiting on. But seems like whoever it is may be running a little late. Can't imagine that is good for business." Being punctual for anything that one was tied to should be a priority.

Tucking strands of hair behind her ear, Frankie eased out a long sigh and shook her head, not at all surprised by how Ramiro was being treated, but still sickened by it. She wanted Arabella’s killer to be found just as much as anyone else did, but painting a narrative around an innocent man in the process wasn’t the way to do that. “Feels like the only people they serve and protect sometimes are themselves,” she commented, brow furrowing as she glanced over at Ramiro. He was a good man who’d never been anything other than kind to her and Frankie knew he hadn’t done this– wasn’t capable of it– and so to see the accusations whirled at him without a second thought was a hard pill to swallow. “Would you tell me if you weren’t?” She knew how stoic he could be, how he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, but she wanted him to know that it didn’t have to be that way, especially not now, and not around her.  She chuckled, not about to argue with him as he called her on her stubbornness– she’d been that way since she came out the womb, maybe even before, and she doubted she’d stop any time soon. “You know I take that as a compliment, right?” She quipped back in a bid to lighten the mood. Though at his question, she found herself frowning again, unsure of how to answer. How she was handling any of it felt entirely irrelevant– she wasn’t the one being falsely accused of murder. But she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t on edge now, knowing a killer was out there and not knowing the motive behind it. “Yeah, I mean– I knew her in passing, but that’s it,” Frankie explained, pausing to gather her thoughts, “I guess I’m just worried that it’s not some isolated thing, you know? Was it supposed to be her, or was she part of sending a message?” Meaning, had Arabella had personal beef with someone, or had her death been arbitrary? The answer to that would change everything.

"You can say that again. That whole department are just narcissists faking the role of being the hero. Serving the people. They're all a joke." His hatred increasing from the false narrative they had put on him. Wasting valuable time and effort by blaming him for something he would have never done to the girl. "It's nothing I can't handle." Admitting something like that wasn't Ramiro's style. It wasn't to say that not being okay was a sign of weakness or anything related. Life shit on most of us and one had to navigate through the hardships blindly. But complaining or talking through those kinds of feelings, to Ramiro didn't change things. One could feel those things but one also had to power through it for change. "Thanks for being here though." Even if she didn't have to. It was helping in a sense and he hoped those words conveyed such. Already imagining that she had been around him long enough to know his habits.

"I wouldn't expect anything else." He replied in turn. Stubborn people get themselves in a lot of trouble, but they also get things done. It wasn't anything negative. Only such if one denied such categorization. "It's definitely to be something to be worried about. Nothing like this should have happened." Weakness would be ignoring the fact and sweeping it under the rug. "Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something more personal. And not to her." Whoever did this had to be sending out some kind of message. He hadn't heard from any witnesses or chatter that anybody had seen anything. Just speculation. So, the idea that this wasn't some isolated incident weighed heavy on Ramiro. It had only been the person behind this and Arabella. Something like that where it was just a pair seemed calculated and thought out. He didn't know why or how but everything within him measured this loss to be some kind of bigger picture. "Just be careful okay? I can always get someone to walk you to your car after work. Even though I already know you're going to probably tell me to fuck off and say no."
