Space Disco Pioneer BJØRN TORSKE Takes a Look Back

For years people have applied the “cosmic disco” and “space disco” tags to what Torske, Lindstrøm and company have done, but Torske says, “For me it all boils down to house and disco — with or without the ‘space’ moniker. ‘Cosmic’ is to me the sound of Italy in the early ’80s, same way New Beat was a Belgian thing — just names of scenes more than a music style. People may use the term ‘Balearic’ to describe something similar, which to me lies in the way of blending music from different genres into a whole.”
