I've been wanting to draw some tarot cards ever since I found out crests in 3H are based on the Major Arcana. Finally got around to it ! :D

Starting with the crest of Gautier / Death because I didn't draw my boy Sylvain enough and in tarot, death represents change and transformation, which I find fitting as we're approaching the new year :)

Today I am thinking about how loud and confident Sylvain acts on the battlefield compared to the moments where his true feelings shine through, like when he is compared to his father by someone else or even himself. On the surface, he easily comes across as cocky and self-assured, even though deep down he doesn't really believe he is all that great.

To the undiscerning eye, this could easily be attributed to the overall act he plays to cultivate his image as cool and carefree. But all Sylvain scholars know Sylvain cares deeply.

For your consideration: Sylvain intentionally draws attention to himself during battles with the explicit, calculated purpose of drawing enemies towards him instead of his friends and allies. Sylvain's number one priority is protecting the people he cares about... of course he wouldn't go quietly.
