You made that assumption on your own.❞ Though he’s had the experience, he’s not real big on teaching life lessons - it’s far from being his style. ❝There are times in life when the simple things are all they are - simple. Trying to derive some hidden meaning from everything you see only ends up cluttering your mind over what it could be trying to say.❞

Sabareta had assumed that this was what he’d been doing with Dias, too - trying his damnedest to figure out if there was some ulterior motive behind his ( foolish ) campaign. ❝The way the world works is a lot more straightforward than you’d expect - people’s morals work just the same.❞

“Simple... Yeah.”

Logi took in a deep breath, before letting it out. Sabareta did have a point- the world can be pretty straightforward. But... But, so was Dias. Atleast, Logi thought he was. They both had the same ideals with their sister- a world of peace. But then... then Dias got led astray and then something happened- something that gave him some sort of dark power and now-

He let out sigh.

“Though... there are some things that aren’t as simple. And... aren’t as straightforward.” He struggled to find words. “Dias and I... we told each other everything. Even when he would get mad at me for reasons I didn’t know- he’d eventually tell me why, and we’d listen to each other and sort everything out. I just... I don’t understand why he won’t listen now, when- when everything’s at stake!”

“You’re in Envylia! I thought it’d be easy to figure out each country’s surroundings...” He rubbed the back of his head. “Are you from Wadatsumi? You clearly look like you’re not from anywhere close to here...”

‘You should be’, is what he’d wanted to say — but being sharp-tongued at a time like this would’ve only made things worse. What mattered now was the castle - although, even before that, there was rest. Their journey thus far hadn’t been easy, with some battles barely won by the skin of their teeth. The night was fast approaching, and began to mar the sky's muddy orange with hues of indigo - if Logi hopes to clear his mind the right way, then he ought to try laying down.

…Knowing him, though, that might’ve been torturous - so he had another idea. Removing his hands to cross them over his chest, the elder knight clicked his tongue. ❝Look above you, Logi — and tell me what you see.❞

“Erm... Alright!”

Rolling his shoulders to get rid of the shock of sudden touch out of his system, blue eyes gazed up at the sunset. All different shades of orange and purple and blue and- quite frankly, it kind of looked like a jumbled mess to Logi. But, that was kind of what their group was- a jumbled mess of former enemies coming together. He held back a laugh, as he continued to stare.

“It’s um... just a sunset,” he responded, rubbing the back of his head. “I’m usually more used to stargazing so, um... I don’t really get what you’re trying to tell me with this.”

❝He’s far too gone to listen to anyone — that old man’s got him on a leash.❞ With one look alone, Sabareta had known he was trouble; no amount of listening would ever convince that ( idiot ) brother of his, as long as he was around. ❝If we really want to stop them, we have to get to the castle before they can.❞ Wasn’t that the original plan, anyway? Reaching the castle, convincing the king — establishing peace between two war-torn lands?

Even in his head, it had sounded so naïve - but his trust in him was enough to brush that all aside. He gripped the younger boy’s shoulders, and looked him dead in the eye. ❝Going back there to play diplomat won’t help us get there faster — so… just relax.❞

He was right- Dias didn’t listen to him the last time he confronted him, so they’d really have to reach the castle. Then, then everything would be over and maybe Dias would be willing to listen then. But, there was still a sinking feeling in his chest- would it really end there? Surely the rest of the Envylia would have to listen to them and... that could also prove to be difficult. He felt his body jolt as Sabareta held his shoulders- was he drowning everything out again?

why must his wish for peace be so complicated? it shouldn’t have to plague him with such worrisome thoughts.

“...Right,” he said, hoping that maybe Sabareta didn’t notice his body jumping, “I’m sorry.”

Kiara was wandering aimlessly through town past midnight after finally completing an assignment that had kept her busy for a full month and was in the mood to celebrate another job well done. The lighting emitting off a local bar caught her attention, a drink or two wouldn’t hurt, she thought as she entered the building. The place wasn’t too crowded, there were some people littering around a big table, their quiet chatter filled the air. Kiara made her way to the bar, taking a seat, the bartender seemed busy cleaning some glasses so she decided to let him finish before asking for a drink.

She took the time to study the man, he had pretty blues eyes, but she was more drawn to his bright red hair, they reminded her of flames, burning bright. His dye must cost a lot to get it to look like that. A glass slamming against the counter snapped her out of her musings, she blinked, the bartender’s words taking a minute to process. Whoops, she didn’t realize she’d been staring him down. “I wasn’t glaring,” She assures, raising her hands. “That’s just how my face looks? I was just waiting for you to finish cleaning before asking for a margarita.”

That...

That makes sense, actually.

He began to awkwardly rub the back of his head, letting out a sigh. He probably scared her when he slammed down the glass- so much for being calm on the job. He quickly began to work on her margarita, pulling a chilled glass from beneath the bar and poured a bit of tequila into it.

“Sorry about that,” he said, following it with a sigh, “I’ve been... kinda tired lately.”

Being asked if he was a ‘lost kid’ was something Mellon always felt mixed about. On one hand, it was saying he didn’t look homeless. But on the other hand, did he really look lost?! Or that young? He supposed he did, but he didn’t like it.

Asking if he was on his way to a banquet hall, on the other hand, was nothing but positive. He smiled and straightened himself, brushing at his clothes. “No. I’m travelling,” he answered. “Is there a banquet hall?”

He had only just arrived in town, and didn’t know it very well. Wait, this guy’s armor… was he a guard or something?

“I’m just staying here a little while. With my uncle,” he lied.

“Well... I think there’s supposed to be a banquet hall somewhere,” Logi mumbled to himself, tapping a finger against his lip. Maybe he had to ask Dias about that one, later. “Anyways, I hope your travels have been treating you well! But, it’s probably best to find your uncle, again. Things around here have been... kind of dangerous, lately.”

Don’t be a fool.❞ In spite of normally holding some form of faith in the other’s words, he can’t commit himself to follow through on this one — Logi was merely being swayed by his own emotions ( that tasted the bitterness of the real world ) — unaware of the consequence that would come with making a poor decision. ❝In case you’ve forgotten, Agatha and I can’t do this ALONE.❞

“I know that!” He ran a hand through his hair, as a means of trying to vent out of his frustration. “I-It’s just...” His voice almost became like a mumble, before he let out another sigh. “Dias... Dias is out there and I just...! I want him to listen, before he does anything stupid-” His voice catches in his throat and he wants to scream but he can’t. He knows what his brother has already been doing was stupid- rash, irresponsible actions that can put so many things on the line- but, he knew that he must have had some reason for it-!

“Dias and his army aren’t going to stop unless something stops them.” Logi finally manages to say, after a small struggle to collect his thoughts of frustration. “If I have to be the one to stop them, then... I’m sure he’d listen to us!”

“Are you lost, kid?” Logi crouched down to the child(?)’s height, looking around the area. The town had gotten a bit more busier, as of late, but he didn’t see any signs of parents searching for lost children. “Or did you just want to find some place to play? I hate to break it to you but-” Logi took note of the child’s attire, before scratching his head. “...Or you could be looking for some... banquet hall?”

“Hey,” He mumbles out, with a bit of hesitance. “You keep... glaring at me. If you have any problem with me, I’d, uh... I’d appreciate it if you could say it!” He forces out, as he accidentally slams a cup against the bar. Of course, cleaning while under pressure was it’s own ballpark- he knew if he made the glass crack he was dead man. ...Which is why he quickly checked it to make sure he didn’t do any damages to it, before setting it down lightly.
