She gave a small nod of her head at his comment on letting him know when she was free. She had a lot of free time on her hands now that she was out of work. She did have to attend physical therapy but that was usually in the morning and would have the evenings free. As he pulled out his phone, she waited until he was ready before she listed off her number. She gave a pause though when he asked about her plans that night. She hadn’t thought he’d want to go out so soon, but then again it wasn’t unlike Eoin to want to do things so suddenly. “Oh uh.. I don’t really have many plans. I was going to make some soup and just have a quiet night in but if you want to go somewhere tonight we can.” She responded.

Eoin added her number to his phone, saving it before tucking it away back in his pocket. He nodded her head. He was glad to hear she had no plans. It meant he could see her much sooner, than having to wait another time. “We could spend time at your home, or I could take you out to dinner.” He wanted her to be comfortable.

Lilja smiled softly over at Eoin as he spoke, giving a bit of a nod. She wanted to truly believe that and was hoping that maybe one day she’d be able to get back into it. Only time would tell though. Still, she had to try and be optimistic about it. Her thoughts moved from her own self and injury and to him as he repeated himself. All this time, she thought. Years without hearing a word and now suddenly there he was. It almost felt like fate though she would not say it aloud. As he mentioned getting reacquainted and catching up, Lilja’s smile grew. “Alright. We can do that.” She agreed, giving a small nod. She really was interested in seeing what he’d been up to— hear more about what brought him all the way over from Ireland. In truth she had missed him. She’d cared deeply for him during their time together and had even considered staying, but he had never asked her to which in the Icelander’s mind meant he didn’t want her to. “We will have to exchange numbers and plan something when you are free. I am not working right now obviously so I have a lot more free time on my hands.”

He knew how determined Lilja could be and if she truly set herself up to want to dance again, she would do what was necessary. He had faith in her. He was still shocked on how long she had been living in LA. He had been consumed with work, plus his lifestyle, that he knew why they hadn’t ran into each other. Eoin had a certain circle he hung out with. Though, he wondered with them bumping into each other, would it change it. He nodded his head when she agreed to go for dinner one night. “You will have to let me know I night you are free.” He reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. “You will have to give you your number.” He started to pull up her old contact information, ready to put in her new number. “What are you doing tonight? No time like the present.”

When he asked if she would be able to dance anymore, Lilja’s lips tugged down into a frown. “I don’t know. I’m not right now… I guess only time will tell if I’ll be able to get back into it.” She said, looking down as she pushed some hair back. She could feel her heart breaking at just the thought of not being able to dance again. It was something she knew was a very much possibility. As he continued though and said she would always be sexy, she looked back up at him, blushing again, the smallest curve of a smile appearing on his face. However, soon she was transfixed by his answer, brows knitting together softly. “A year,” she repeated. “Wow, to think all that time we were so close to one another. I wonder how many times did we pass each other by without noticing.” The again, LA was a very large city.

Eoin noticed the frown that formed on her features, as small as it was. He knew how important dance was to Lilja and could only imagine how frustrating all of this was for her. He believed with her strong will, and stubbornness, if dance was something she still wanted to do, she would overcome this hindrance. “If it is your passion, I have no doubt in my mind you will find a way to dance once more.” His hand reached forward going to tuck hair behind her ear, his brows furrowing at his actions, ceasing before he touched her; his arm falling back down beside him. “A year,” he repeated after her, once more. “That is true. Now we have be reacquainted. You will have to let me buy you dinner one night. We have much coming up to do.” He offered.

Lilja practically felt trap beneath his intense gaze. She wondered what was going on in his mind. If it was rushing with as many thoughts and memories as her own. Then his eyes cast downward directly to the cane sh was holding. She blushed a bit at his words. He was never one to beat around the bush. She didn’t mind talking about it though, she just hated being reminded that she had to use it at all and the reason why. “I-uh… I had an accident. I messed up my leg and had surgery. I need this to help me walk while I heal and work through my physical therapy.” She glanced down at it, frowning a bit. “Not the sexiest look around, I know.” She said, trying to joke a bit before the mood went sour. She glanced back up at him. “You didn’t answer my question.”

Eoin was one that didn’t hold back what he was thinking. Lilja knew that of him. He was the persistent when it came to them first hanging out back in Dublin. It was the blush that dusted her cheeks that had the memories start to flood back. He cared a lot about the Icelandic woman. Enough that he wanted to ask her to stay, but knew how important her career was. “An accident?” He raised a brow at her. “You can’t dance anymore? Or will you be able to?” He found himself drawing closer to her. A small smirk curled at the corners of his mouth. “You will always be sexy Lilja. It is about how you hold yourself up and the confidence you exude.” He gave a curt nod. She was correct, he didn’t answer. “I have been here for a year.”

Something seemed to shift in the male as she spoke, mentioning Dublin. She didn’t say anything though, not sure if she should. She didn’t want to make things more awkward which she was already feeling a slight bit of. Especially as he stared at her. Shes squirmed a bit under his intense gaze which admittedly still made her feel some fluttering in the pit of her stomach after all this time. “Oh—” She said, lips forming into the shape the sound made as she gave a slight nod of her head. She should have figured that. She just never expected him to leave Ireland. He’d seemed content there. “So you are still teaching, that is good to hear.” She offered him a small smile. “How long have you been living here?”

Eoin let his gaze fixated on the Icelandic woman. Part of him was looking for any more changes. She still looked exactly the same from the last time he saw her -- radiant and beautiful. A few minutes later his eyes shifted down to the cane. He ignored her question, for now, there was something more pressing to discuss. “Why do you have a cane Lilja?” He was more curious about her than wanting to talk about himself.

Lilja was still comprehending the fact that Eoing was really here, in the flesh, standing right in front of her. She hadn’t seen him in years and never thought she would again, yet there he was now. As he reached out and touched her, she let out a small breath. It really was real. She snapped back to reality as he offered his hand to her. She took it, though a bit reluctantly. She hated others thinking she needed help and concern them. When he said he lived there, her brows rose. He lived there? How long had he been so close and she hadn’t ever known? “You live here?” Her voice made evident all the surprise she felt. “Me? I”ve been here since I left…” since she left Ireland—since she left him. She stepped into the bakery, though what she’d set out to do there was all but forgotten in that moment.

Eoin could tell she was shocked to hear that he had been living in LA. He didn’t tell her how long, almost a year, but when he heard that she had been here since leaving Dublin years back, he felt gutted. A mixed array of feelings engulfed the male. Part of him was pissed to see her, that she was able to leave so easily like she did. There was a greater part of him that wanted to lean down and kiss her; she if she still had that sweet taste to her. No matter what emotion surface for a brief second all he could do was remain rooted in his spot staring at her. “I teach at one of the universities.” He waited until she was standing straight before letting go off his grasp. Both his hands shoved into his jean pockets to keep from wanting to touch her again.

Lilja was on her way to her favorite bakery to get some bread to accompany the soup she planned on making that evening. She was still using her cane, which she hated but found necessary to help her not put as much strain on her healing leg. She still had a hard time with it though and it never ceased to frustrate her. She was just about to head in to the bakery when she landed right atop a pebble which made her cane wobble and made her almost lose her balance. She glanced down, letting out a huff of annoyance before she was almost knocked down yet again only this time by a body. She caught herself though had to take a step back with her good leg. Once she regained herself she finally realized she recognized the voice of the person apologizing. It couldn’t be though— but when she heard her name being calling in that all too familiar accent, she quickly lifted her gaze to land directly with Eoin’s. “Eoin?” She asked, almost completely in disbelief. “Wh-what are you doing here?”

Eoin had to take a full minute to let it sink in that Lilja was standing there before him. He reached out to touch her, again, to make sure she was real and this wasn’t some type of mirage. There had been nights he dreamed of her, but nothing more. He quickly regained his composure. He had let her in once, and though they left on mutual terms, she still left him. He could have voiced his feelings, but he knew where it would have gone. He couldn’t handle another heart break. Dark orbs glanced over the woman and that is when he noticed the cane. His brows furrowed trying to think of a reason she would need one. Had it really been that long? He reached out to offer her his hand to keep her balance. “I live here.” His accent a little thicker than normal. The Irishman helped her inside the bakery. “How long ye been here for?” He should have known she would live in LA, especially in her line of work.

It had been a long day at work. Eoin found himself spending longer days at the university to grade papers rather than taking them home with him. He was bound to find other distractions, though it wasn’t hard to find them at work either. He collected his belongs and started home. He didn’t to stop by the local bakery to grab something for home, not in the mood to cook. He was looking at his phone, reading an email, leaving the bakery. He opened the door to walk out but found his body colliding with another. “Shite, sorry....” His head jerked up and before he could finish his sentence dark eyes felt like they were seeing a face that only seemed to haunt his dreams. “Lilja?”

Nightmares

Eoin found himself not able to sleep much that night. He kept staring up at the ceiling. There were many thoughts that lingered on his mind, but he knew the best solution was to ignore them. Problems seemed to disappear on their own. Sleep started to pull over his eyes, falling into a deep rest, but he jerked forward when he heard Emory’s voice. He turned to look at the male and the way he was moving in the bed. Something was wrong, and he honestly didn’t want to deal with it, but had to. He slipped out of his bed and walked over to the other’s bed. ‘Emory...” He shook the sleeping male.

As he walked in she took a quick look over what he was wearing, setting her mind at ease that she wasn’t too dressed up. “only fine?” she asked, pursing her lips as she looked at the shoes “should i change into something else real quick?” looking back up at him she shrugged her shoulders “i mean, i want to wear the ones that make you less embarrassed to be seen with me” she said, holding the shoes out again and tilting her  head to the side “i just want to look nice for you i don’t know” 

He was touched she was considered about what he thought. “You should go out in what makes you feel sexy and desired. That is how this game works Lakyn. Never give the male the opportunity to choose.” He liked a woman who was confident in herself. “You will look fine in whatever you choose.”

Luca walked into the cabin and noticed Eoin, stopping dead in his tracks. The last time he’d been around the man, it had turned awkward and confusing, tense. “Hey….didn’t realize you were in the cabin,” he murmured softly, offering a timid smile.

Eoin raised a brow when the male stopped in his tracks and smirked. “Will that be a problem Luca?” He mused over the idea.

“I can’t even recall the feeling,” She said, acting completely blase about it. She didn’t want to give him any ideas while they were hanging out. When he said that she missed spending time with him, she looked over at him and gave a small nod. “Actually, I did. Just not in the ways you’re thinking. I missed when we used to go out and have fun. It was nice and I was hoping maybe we could do that stuff again. You know, when you were being sincere and not playing this let me charm my way into your pants role.” She spoke honestly.

He could tell something was different with Lilja. She wasn’t the free spirit that would throw caution to the wind. Maybe it had to do with the accident, that he blamed Emmett for, or perhaps something else. “We can see what happens.” He answered her honestly. Eoin found himself putting a wall up with her.

“I was trying to decide if I wanted to bring a ski mask or not.” Marco replied jokingly, holding up the mask to his face as if he had just made a painstaking decision to bring it with him. “Nah, I was admiring the view. It’s actually really fucking gorgeous up here. I thought I was going to hate it but I don’t.” Marco offered a soft smile at Eoin as he took the ski pass, putting into his pocket as he pulled on his gloves and headed behind him towards the door. “I went last winter I think, so it’s been about a year for me too. I might be a little rusty.”

“I would assume a ski mask would be good to keep your face warm.” He wasn’t opposed to them. “It does have some benefits of being here, scenery one of them.” He agreed. He was liking it up here more than he thought. Though it was still early. Things could change. “Seems we are in the same boat.” He stepped out into the cold weather.

Some nerve. Some nerve. “Oh now you want to look out for her. After acting like some hurricane in her life? You come crashin’ through and you think you’re some hero cause you wanna clean up” His jaw clenched, he felt like a boiling pot. “Where the hell were you all those years? Not worryin’ bout her. That’s where” Cause he was there, the whole time. He was the one by her side through all that happened. 

Eoin quipped a brow at the male. The fact he was acting like Eoin did something wrong baffled the Irishman. “If I remember correctly we left on good terms.” Though he would have asked Lilja to stay, but he knew how important her dance was to her. “Not that it is any of your concern.” He interjected. He let out one dry chuckle. “Guilty conscious eating at you?”

She only looked up when she heard his voice. She didn’t realise that he was going to come over to her, but now that he was here. She gave him a quick smile. “Hey..” Oh, she was far too nervous around him right now and she hated it. She knew that he knew that he made her nervous…aand so instead of thinking about that, she finished off hr drink quicky.

Eoin relished in her expression. He could tell the nerves had set in or her. Then he wondered if she was thinking back to their last encounter. He sat down beside her with his drink. “Drinking alone Marissa?”

“That you ain’t got no right to be round Lilja after embarassin’ her like that. “ Emmett said bodly, now looking at the man straight in the eye. “But I know her and it’s not that hard for her to forgive” Which wasn’t the same for him. Emmett thought the man had some nerve, already he was annoyed just by the man breathing. From the kissing to the pictures, it was a mess. That’s all he saw the other man as. 

“What, are you her da?” His accent coming off a little stronger. The man could look at him any way he wanted, it would not shake him. He would remain calm and collected. “What happens between Lilja and I, is frankly none of your concern.” He kept his eyes locked on the other. “Someone has to look out for her. Wouldn’t want any repeating mishaps.”

“A rule that coffee must include liquor when camping? I can’t say I’m aware of that rule,” Ophelia laughed. She gave him a dramatic exasperated look, but it was clear she was teasing. “We’re gonna play a game. If you talk about sex, you lose. Do you teach piano? I started thinking recently I should learn to play an instrument. More than the four chords that I know on the guitar.” 

“Well then it should be a rule you shall remember.” His eyes would flicker from ahead to down at her. He was letting her lead the way for this exploration adventure they were on, against his wishes. “What do I win if I do not mention that word?” He was more interested in that. “I have taught some how to play. Why do you ask?”
