My first attempt These illustrations was child like and didn’t fit with the overall theme of the project. I started over trying to give the illustration a more realistic and professional feel. I am happy with the way the second attempt turned out and plan to use it in one of my direct mails. It will represent the owner of the car who is drunk ‘scooting over’ to let the driver take the wheel.
Welcome letter for premium members. to started with I found a suitable address for the business, central location for the coverage area and the building is a garage type lot. I have used the same type face as my logo so it fits well plus I want it to be professional looking but still come across as friendly.
Mock up of a mechanism to show 2 images with a simple movement this was a big success if I take this design forward I will need to use a lustre stock as the smoothness of the paper will allow the mechanism to move a lot smoother
I created a mechanism in which two pieces of card attached to a thin plastic sheet rapped round a third piece of card make up a moving piece. When one of the cards are pulled the other piece moves in the other direction. This moch up worked very well. I had a small problem with the seem of the plastic was stopping the movement. To fix this I stuck the card at the seem in its out most position using the seem to stop it being pulled to far
I attempted to create a high grade mock up of an interactive business card there are some design flaws on the fron and the stick men need some more designing. I may go for a completely different format in the way of the mechanism.
This morning I tested the digital template I created yesterday afternoon there are a couple of tweets needed but it is looking very good so far
This is my digital development for the template for the 3D air freshener. I changed the base colour to make the type stand out. I flipped the template so the logo ran down the front instead of up so it is easier to read. when I apply this to the correct materiel I think it will work really well and I think it is really creative.
This morning I planned and made a moch up of a 3D air freshener scooter. I struggled a little bit with the mechanics of the joints but got my head around it in time. The mock up is looking good, the front of it is a bit to big. I will take my design on to the computer emend the mistakes and work out the kinks.
this is the digital development for my logo. I started with silhouettes of a car and a moped but found quite quickly that it looked quite amateurish the concept behind it I thought was good and had promise but it didn’t work when taken into this form. so I started playing with type faces and using the scooter silhouette in different formats and layouts. I eventually arrived at a good layout for the type and the silhouette, but felt it was missing a little depth and colour. I decided to use blue and orange for the type and stroke to a couple of reasons. firstly the blue gives a sense of security and trust. Secondly the orange gives a sense reliability and speed. Thirdly the two colours are contrasting colours and and a deeper impact visually.
Witkowski.t, (2012), Paper Folding Templates, London, Apple Press, 9781845434359 Page 16 and 136-137 Look in to box top fold for promotional flyer. Page 64 Look in to the folded map to use on a map. Page 187 look in to Tato fold to use for promotional flyer.
McAlhone,B, Stuart,D. (1996), A Smile In the Mind, London, Phaidon, 0714838128 Page 29 From this page I feel I should try and incorporate some wit in to one of my designs or in to my logo. I will probably go with a safe wit, meaning the audience doesn't have to get the wit for the design to work. Two pay offs wit. Page 71 and 101 These pages have given me an idea to do something using maps maybe to show the range of the service or as an interactive piece with in the promotion. Page 101 I don't know how this page might help me, but I love the concept and design. I am captivated by the creativity of the designer who was able to combine the physical aspects of a wishing well with this poster about water fountains.
McQuiston,L. (1993) Graphic Agitation, London, Phaidon, 9780714834580 Page 54 The logos created for the revolution in Paris in 1968, I feel could inspire my logo creation. I like the simplistic illustration style and the communication with in the illustrations. E.g, The logo of the hammer and anvil with the word 'capital', to me is communicating a message to crush capitalism. I feel this simple yet creative form of illustration could work very well in my project. Page 132-133 This page contains a range of posters for anti-racist and anti-fascist groups located throughout Germany. Some produced, and others collected by Wolfgang Kreile, in 1992. These posters may help me with layout and composition, when it comes to creating my own. Not all of these examples will be relevant to my brief, but it would be remiss of me to dismiss them at this early stage. Page 177 From this page I am inspired by the range of paraphernalia for 'death cigarettes, Britain.' I will look at doing a range of things associated with cars and scooters.
These are examples of the process I when through to come up with ideas for the logo for my business identity. I have come up with a range of ideas most of them having a good concept. The concept that winning at this stage of my development is type inside the silhouette of a bike or car or both. Some are unoriginal or not very good based on the concept but I felt I should put them on paper to clear them from my mind to make room for new better ideas. The next step will be to move on to the computer to develop these ideas further.
To day I started the proses of coming up with a name for my company. I started with think of some relevant words, from those I looked them up in a thesaurus to find more related words. I then looked up idioms that involved relevant words. From all the i highlighted words/ phases that could help me come up with different name ideas. From all the names I came up with three of them really stood out 'one for the road' 'A to B to A' and 'Scoot Over'. 'One for the road' seemed to me to be promoting drink drive in a way so I abandoned that one. 'A to B to A' I felt had a good deal of mileage but was a little to straight edged for the feel I am looking for for this company. 'Scoot Over' has a fun and friendly feel to it and if has two meanings in this context.
A collection of drink driving stats that may come in handy to reinforce my business concept.
Today I created a questionnaire to get a feel for my target audience on there stance on drink driving and how they would feel about the designated driver service. I spent my afternoon asking the public to answer a couple of pre-thought up questions and I received a mostly positive response to the designated driver service. Which I feel is a good sign for my project. I think the information gathered will be invaluable when moving forward with my project.
