𓄽 BYF : I use some cis labels to cope with eu/lusions, including cispsychic, cisomniscient, cisnonhuman + more, and would prefer if people referred to these labels as cis. I also often struggle with feelings of imposter syndrome when others relate to me, due to a fear of others using their abilities/skills against me. If I ever act oddly in response to you relating to me, it’s most likely because of this and I’ll get over it in time. I also am CisShortLife for mental reasons (please do not challenge this or guilt me), which means the topic of death/suicide comes up on here sometimes (though tagged/CWed). I’m also relatively uncomfortable with flirting/sexual advances so refraining from that would be appreciated!

Represents constant change, the transferal of energy through death/cycle of life, fortune and fate, the ideas of karma/samsara, the inherent curiosity/need for truth at the core of all sentience, the most abstract forms and experiences the mind can take/what your brain experiences when you go insane, and unseen balance on a cosmic scale. My biggest pet peeve is the fact that expressing how you are a sadist // have low sympathy / empathy is now demonized in society and you are treated like an edgy person looking for attention

Why am I unable to say “ hey yeah i was traumatized at 11 and that made me a really violent and aggressive person and I still am very aggressive and hold some pessimistic values . While I no longer engage in violent acts I still daydream about them and watch violent videos because that is what works for me “ without being told im trying to be edgy . NO !!! the justice system just fails cocsa victims !!!!!!!

The test for allyship isn't how you treat an oppressed person who is your friend, family, spouse. It's how you treat an oppressed person you absolutely can't stand who is vile and loathsome in every way.

Do you gender trans people correctly even when they're being absolutely terrible people? Do you refuse to use the r-slur against someone who suicide baited you but is neurodivergent? Do you refuse to snark at a mentally ill person who is being genuinely unpleasant, "go take your meds!"

Do you allow members of marginalized groups to be terrible people without judging their entire demographic for it? One of the most invisible yet vital forms of privilege is the right to be terrible people as an individual rather than as a group. Do you acknowledge that there are bad people in every group, that it doesn't make their group less worth fighting for? Or do you shake your head if you happen to get mistreated by some who belong to a group and insist the entire group is awful and not worth your allyship?

Oppressed people can see how you treat those of us you like, but do you still treat the worst of us with the basic dignity you treat the worst of other groups with?

When my son was about to turn two, strangers would offer condolences. There’s a collective cultural dread of toddlers, who get described more like animals than people. Kids in their "terrible twos," I was warned, are illogical, unregulated, and feral. "Good luck," people would say. "He'll grow out of it."

I'm lucky: My son is a very easygoing kid. But I remember the first tantrum he threw for me. He was standing by our front door and asked to go outside. So I opened the door and grabbed his shoes. But as soon as he stepped onto the porch, he pointed back into the house.

"Inside," he said.

"Okay," I said. I picked him up and brought him inside.

But as soon as I shut the front door, he pointed outside.

"Outside!" he said.

You know where this is going. We went back and forth, inside and outside, again and again. He got more frustrated. And I got more frustrated. Eventually he wound up straddling the threshold of our house, sobbing. When I tried to comfort him, he screamed at me. "You go wherever you want!" I said. He just got madder. I felt trapped, convinced he’d concocted the whole episode as a pretext to unleash his rage at me. It was ridiculous. I consoled myself with the thought that he was just being a toddler.

But later I kept thinking about him wailing at our front door, one foot inside, one foot outside. His misery wasn't unreasonable, or trivial, or silly. My son was experiencing the agony of wanting two things that were impossible to have at the same time. What a fundamentally human sorrow! My son wasn't being a toddler; he was being a person. Adults may not walk around howling, but that same pain rages within us. In that moment, as a father, I was powerless to solve my son's problem. I told him he could go wherever he wanted, but of course I was wrong. To be where he wanted was impossible.
