Purple Harlequin Toad (Atelopus barbotini), family Bufonidae, endemic to the uplands of central French Guiana
This species status is in dispute amongst herpetologists, some consider is to be a subspecies of A. spumarius. A few otheer species are considered to form a “species complex” with A. spumarius.
This species does not have a CITES listing, but the population is in decline, and may be CRITICALLY ENDANGERED.
